I know this probably belongs in Literature, but I want to get as many eyes on this as I can.

I've been writing this book for a little over a year now, it's still a work in progress, but this is the furthest I've gotten with any project ever. I'd like to get people's thoughts on it and maybe even leave some comments on the doc.

Also finished Helstrom last night. I wouldn't say I was disappointed, it was a good show, but definitely not what I was expecting. I was hoping it would be more of a police procedural like Constantine, but instead it actually came off more like just a batshit show like Legion (Legion is phenomenal though, don't get me wrong). I also didn't like that the trailer was 70% Daimon, but the show was 80% Ana which just felt misleading. Some of the characters throughout the show did grow on me though. Their development was interesting to watch, admittedly Ana was one of my favorite characters by the end of the show. I didn't like her better than Daimon (especially after he started using his powers more), but even still. The side characters never really grew on me though (except for Yen), again very similar to Legion in that they were all running around pretending to be useful, but in reality both the monsters and Ana and Daimon were too op for them to do anything with. There were also a lot of October Faction similarities too except the show was about adults with magic powers instead of teens. And it also ended in a cliffhanger which I don't think they should've done because it really spoils the second season... which it's not getting because the show got cancelled (again much like October Faction).
In all honestly I don't think I would recommend this show to anyone unless its cancellation gets reversed. I really enjoyed the show, I liked that it was dark, gory, and gritty, I loved the magic and the demons, I didn't even mind all of the loose plot lines they left, but the satisfaction of the show ending gets completely undone in the last minute because it badly spoils the second season that it's not going to get.
I would rather recommend people watch Constantine, Legion, or the apocalypse era (seasons 3-5) of Supernatural.

Figured how to use After Effect for this music visualizer, good thing is no one had uploaded the song on Youtube with good audio quality. Of course I took it upon myself to rip the good version from Bilibili and make it look prettier with AE's audio visualizer.

My cats really enjoyed their Christmas gifts. I got Nyanko (my white cat) a new chew toy and Bennet (my black cat) a new collar. My sister also seemed to enjoy her gifts as well which were 21Ps new album Trench, She-Ra s1-3, Attack the Block, and a pair of socks.

Another one, Purple Software is quite strict on their copyright policy though so I'm not sure if this video is safe from the strikes or not. To conclude this, I lurked the Discord Dollars and there he was the whiner from yesterday. Kazeki told him to explain his situation in DMs, and I of course chimed into his DM to follow what is up with it. Turns out its nothing serious, not in a life threatening manner at the very least, he's just coming up with excuses to shit talk about the people he lived with and most likely can't fend off for himself if he ever reported these people he's living with.

Again, Dollars is capable of giving you that unique experience portrayed in the show, but it can't do so when you didn't even put an effort.

About the MBTI, I'm more of a fan of the OCEAN model, but for all it's worth I think I'm supposed to be an INTP. I think it does fit, though.

The idea of intellectual property is such bullshit. And it's frustrating because the idea that you can own a song or a story or an image is fucking absurd to me. NO you cannot own a song. You can own a DVD or tape that has the song on it but the actual pattern of the song, the sequence of sounds, you cannot own, and I do not respect the idea of you owning something that isn't an object. You cannot own ideas, ideas can be copied infinitely, and they can only exist in a certain medium. I am not taking anything you own by copying a song from one CD that I own onto another DC I own, I'm doing what I want with my own damn property.

Imagine this scenario: You just spent 3 years of your life working on a project, whether it be a movie, story, song album, or what have you, and you release it and very few people notice, and you make like $2 off of your multi-year investement. Then, someone comes along and reuploads your years of work, millions of people see it, and they make hundreds of thousands, if not millions off your work, the only work they put in being pressing 2 buttons: Download and upload.

Would you not want the money that something you spent years of your life working on made, or would you be perfectly content knowing that nothing you do will get you your millions? That's what copyright is designed to do: Make sure the person who spent time and effort making something gets the money for the thing they made.

I understand it makes alot of things unprofitable, and I just don't care. Uh yeah ideas are free and there should be no restriction on people sharing information and ideas that they have so long as they're not doing it to actively threaten or bring harm upon someone else. I understand the consiquences of my train of thought, and I don't have a problem with them.

Yes, things like books and games and music would become mostly unprofitable because only one person would ever try to buy it and then they'd share it with everyone. Maybe you could start a patreon, maybe society just needs to readjust to the fact art is now a free flowing thing and anyone can do whatever they want with art at that point. Adjust to the fact that ideas and art are no longer a thing that is a business, and yes, you do not control what other people do with the information you give them once you give it to them.

Can't have Star Wars or any of the Marvel movies, or any modern movie, without the insane amount of money they make, because they would have made a single movie and then been in debt for 10 generations.

Copyright doesn't stop you from playing music in a public location. It stops you from creating a copy of that music.

Did you openly share every answer on your homework with every single one of your classmates, for free, including to those you hated? Because in that market, the "currency" being passed around is how much two people like each other, with dislike and/or hate being equivalent to being unable to afford a product. You did not just do all the homework and then tape your answers on the wall. At most, you shared your answers with people you liked, people who could "afford the product" that were your homework answers, if you shared answers at all.

Oh, so if I were to create some sort of product in my own home, it's undeniably mine. But if I were to put that product out there and sell it and now that it's out in the world, it's no longer my product? Bullshit. That's obviously not true. If I put the work and effort into it and make it on my own, it is mine whether it's a physical object or a story. What you're doing is undermining art and saying that the work and effort put into it is worthless. Ideas are worth just as much as objects and if you can't see your contradictions here, you're just fucking stupid.

When I started out as an artist, I used to think that having your work reuploaded was a compliment. But now having years of learning and improvement under my belt that took tons of work and have had my artwork stolen, I can say it isn't a compliment. It's a huge slap in the face. I didn't care before because my work wasn't worth stealing but now it is.

These statements are just not true. Businesses are formed on IDEAS. Businesses wouldn't get anywhere without ideas. You are living in some alternate reality. Maybe YOU need to readjust to how society actually works and not how your idealized version of it runs in your head.

All I got from this is that you have no respect for artists of all sorts and are trying to act like you can relate by calling yourself a writer. You're a beginner, which isn't a bad thing, you have lots of room to grow. But anyone can be a beginner and it sure as hell doesn't make you an expert on the topic. Yes, anyone could do it, but not everyone can do it GOOD, and that's what gives it the value.

Christmas was very casual and nice here. My siblings loved the gifts I got for them and that made me happy. I always worry that I'll end up getting them something they won't actually enjoy.
I got some knives, shirts, fidget toys, a webcam, and a set of Cololights. All four of us siblings also each got a Steam giftcard from our dad, so I bought the bundle of all 3 Danganronpa games. I had been playing the first one at my boyfriend's house and I don't go there too often, so it's nice to have my own copies of the games now. :3

Ok ._. I guess they wont make big shitty movies like that anymore. It's a scary bold change, but so be it. I'm not afraid of the profit motive being taken out of art, or at least reduced. Yeah but if they own an item with that information on it why shouldn't they be allowed to copy it. that disc, for example, is their disc. you do not own that disc. I feel like you're so set in stone about the concept of owning ideas that you take it as a given. And the fact that them making a copy cuts down on your profit isn't an argument for the idea of intellectual property though. Yes it might be in my best interest to control other people's possessions and violate their rights but I think it would be immoral and unethical to do so.

No I didn't and I don't have to if I don't want to. Just like you don't have to share any information you have unless you want to. But someone else who knows those answers damn well might share them. okay I have several things to say here

1. I don't actually believe in like...currency, or at least the fiat currency we have where paper represents value, I think people oughta trade things they actually find valuable, though, similar to copyright I understand the utility of it , I still thing it's generally just people believing something has value that they normally wouldn't, adults playing pretend that something is more than it is, an almost religious faith in this cotton bill.

I've been making stories and comics for 11 years, I'm not a beginner, even if you think I'm not good. and even if I was a beginner, that wouldn't make me any less of an artist. and being an artist or not doesn't change the fundamental right that people have to do what they want with their things and especially their own body and the ideas found within it.

As far as I'm concerned supply and demand, and specifically the SUPPLY part is what dictates value. How much I am willing to pay for something is dictated by how much I want it and how much of it there is, but ideas are not a finite resource, they can be copied infinitely they have no scarcity and their supply is infinite. and AGAIN all that is a side argument compared to the real point I've been making about ideas existing within people's brains alot of the time.

That being said realizing that under my own moral and philosophical framework outright copying of ideas is allowed is one thing, that's me following my worldview to it's logical outcome.

There's actually alot of things I've made that I can never share because of copyright/intellectual property "rights". I make all sorts of collages on my computer using random images I've found and I could never sell those (and yes you can still ATTEMPT to sell things even if people can just copy them. people subscribe to onlyfans accounts when they've been leaked, and donate to patreon even tho people put out videos for free), which is kind of dumb, that's in my eyes a restriction of my artistic freedom. Same thing with like, I used to make stories that reused copyrighted characters when I was younger, mixing in wario and minecraft characters into my childhood comics. I see no reason why people shouldn't be allowed to do that. My idea of ditching the concept of owning ideas actually opens up the door to alot of creative freedoms that you would never have before.

And good job on focusing on the one small part of my entire post where I made it actually personal to you to discredit the rest of it. That said, Yukie and Rurudo are both professional artists who drew colored illustration. But that's as far as the similarity can go, both artist got different style of drawing and that particular style is what they're trying to sell.

Ideas might be infinite, but the hands equipped with the brain capable of turning those ideas into particular things were finite. Hell, it almost scares me to think that Tomose Shunsaku would someday die and his distinct art style will be left in history.

I slept for 12 hours and feel great.
And I have the next couple days off. I bought snacks and have hulu and netflix to entertain me.
I'm also gonna try to hit level 39 on pokemon go. It's a shame I won't hit 40 before the year is over. I'll be a few million xp short. I am gonna try to hit 40 before the next community day though to try and get xl candies cause apparently you need a lot of them to get to level 50.

Had a dream about a fat guy who got shot while exercising and while going to the ER, the person taking him in thought he was crazy and instead of doing anything about him having been shot, they start a multi-year long psyche eval and he manages to escape and prove he got shot after being trapped with complete psychopaths of medical staff.

Went back to sleep and had a dream that I was on a trip of some kind and that trip heavily involved some cool stuff.

The first thing chronologically was that I'd woken up from the dream above, in-dream. Then I had to fight some being in the gap between multiverses while some guy I kind of got along with cowered far away. I can't remember all of its powers, but I only survived, not defeated it. Then I got pulled back by the person running the trip I was on.

Then the dream starts being a bit more clear because it was more recent, but still not very clear. The trip took us to some kind of camps where they'd drop off a few people, but most of the people on the bus stayed until the last one. At this camp, they taught us how to steal "traits" from people.

Traits could be pretty abstract, but were usually just body parts and stuff. This was a one way thing. You couldn't give traits, and stealing traits was pretty obvious. Then the dude figured out how to duplicate traits because he wanted to touch a girl's huge boobs, but didn't want her to slap him into another dimension. Basically, he'd steal a trait, and instead of eating it, he'd turn it into a giant tic-tac box, with each tic-tac being a copy of the trait.

He'd then take one for himself, give however many tic-tacs out as people wanted, then give one back to the original owner. That seemed really inefficient to me, so I started trying to figure out how to do it in one step, and I basically skipped ahead 12+ years of education and went strait to being able to duplicate basically anything and manipulate the energy behind that duplication to a point that I was able to go back to between the multiverses, on purpose this time.

Also, I forget when it was revealed, but basically, there was a huge energy shortage going on. It was so bad that stealing a number of traits that was actually a realistically small number to be achieved within 20 or less years would have made all magic stop working entirely.

Also also, at some point between learning to duplicate stuff and my mastery of that becoming that great, I found a vampire shark girl (there's probably a better way to describe it,) and found out a few things about the non-humans of the universe, such as the fact that their wombs were tied to their butts instead of their pussies and they required the energy to live, but their existence was net-neutral on the amount of energy that existed.

So, I went between multiverses and started doing something I'm not really sure how to properly explain in order to make sense. Basically, I duplicated my energy core and started duplicating the energy of my body, which shouldn't be possible, according to everyone else, and started using them to create a self-sustaining generator to create more of the base energy of the world, which would then eventually become the usable energy again.

Except this got interrupted by the thing between multiverses and I got shunted back to my reality. The people in charge pulled everyone in for an inspection because they had felt the huge drop in energy that came from my insane duplications. I had to find a way to hide that it was me, and did. Don't remember how.

Then I tried to go into a house, and when I did, the thing between multiverses pulled me back between multiverses and started pummeling me. After a long, defensive battle, I was pulled back to reality, and I immediately started on a project: Sending myself to the point in time where I was first between multiverses and killing the thing between them, then making the reactor.

It took me a while and a lot of people calling me crazy because I was doing some weird stuff back in reality, but blah. It worked and I went and stole all of its unique features so it couldn't do anything more than a normal humanoid that had no arms.

Then I went and made the reactor and it worked even better than I'd predicted, by about 20% or so.

We talked about her race and had sex and cuddled. In addition to being able to drink blood with her fangs, she could also steal traits with them in a way that was net-neutral with the energy. Instead of burning it to cut a trait out of someone, her fangs would surround the trait with the energy in such volume that the trait was effectively ripped from the person.

I'll occasionally have dreams that require a bit larger of leaps of logic and/or suspension of disbelief to make sense, but I remember having a complete nonsense dream once ever, though I may have had more and just forgot them. Last night's was probably the one that required the most suspension of disbelief in a while, though I can't remember it in great detail anymore.

The premise was basically that I had some sort of power, and two different organizations that were trying to do opposing things knew it. One was trying to get me to join them and the other was trying to kill me.

It started in a hotel where I met the org that wanted me to join them, then went outside and a car chase happened. It was during this chase where my "power" came into play: I could wake up and fall asleep to go back in time a few minutes. I relived the start of the car chase maybe 10 times because I didn't sleep very well.

My restarts allowed me to get the driver to get us to safety, where I hid for a long time, then some monster attacked the safehouse we were at and I used my "power" to survive until help arrived, but the help was actually the other org disguised as the one who was helping me, and I had to continue using my "power" to not die to them.

That part took the longest, probably 3 or 4 IRL hours, with me waking up every 5 to 8 in-dream minutes. The dream ended after I'd cleared out an enemy safehouse and had probably the most nonsensical moment of any dream I've had in a long, long time.

During the safehouse clearing, I was able to see if someone was friend or foe with some really weird thing I still don't really know how to describe, beyond the fact it was like a sliding puzzle, with different pieces of different color, and if there were certain pieces near each other, they were an enemy. So, the most nonsense part was when someone rearranged their entire body so the sliding puzzle was on the faces of 5 cubes that were attaches at edges, as that was the only way for them to separate the two pieces by enough distance to not be labeled an enemy and killed. I didn't get to see if they would betray me before I woke up.

It was a tad sappy at times, but it still was surprisingly solid. Problem is, at some point she thought that her whole alternate universe was too complex for her to keep up with, so she stopped writing for it. She ended up releasing the ideas she had for the future works she had given up on, and some of them seemed really interesting (there were even plans for some video games and the such), which didn't make it easier to come to terms with the fact that everything was probably gone for good.

All in all, she was one of those rare providers of the kind of deep lore I crave, and now it's gone.

I finished a Discovery of Witches s1. It was... interesting. There were definitely some creative choices that I question (mainly the sex scenes where the characters were dressed, but still having sex...), but the plot while simplistic was nice. It was actually a good change of pace to watch a show that wasn't super suspenseful or full of drama.
I'm definitely looking forward to s2 where hopefully the plot will get a bit thicker now that all of the world building and back story stuff has been set up.
I'm also curious about the book series now. I've read like a chapter of the first book years ago when I was still in highschool, but I found it a bit dull. I don't know if I'd still find it dull or if maybe it was just because I was a teenager that I found the pacing slow.

So I will not, do it too often oof.

I've got lights! So I decided to go with small, battery operated strung lights that way I didn't have cords dangling outside of the net and my solution to 'hiding' the battery pack was to put them in ornament balls and wrap the balls in yarn. I ran out of E6000 though (rip) so I didn't get to wrap the second ornament ball. I'm not sure if I want to do it in blue like the other or wrap it in my pink yarn.

Furby customization started.
My base for this first one is a white Furby with black spots. My goal is to make it into a Monokuma, but it's gonna take a while to figure out how to get rid of the black spots on the white side. Bleach destroys the fibers, peroxide takes way too long to make any difference, and nail polish remover didn't work either. My current plan is to just do multiple layers of white acrylic wash and hope that works out. I did one layer and it did make some difference, but I'm out of white acrylic paint now.

I think I'll be working on a second one along with this first one, cause my plans for that one are far simpler. It's an original black Furby with white stomach and orange feet. I just wanna add an orange-yellow-white gradient to its stomach area (and maybe its mohawk, not sure yet) and replace the eyes and make them a lovely icy blue color. Basically kinda mimic the look of an Emperor penguin.

I did two layers of the black acrylic wash. I am just letting it dry before applying more and filling out some of the white spots I missed.
And I only did the layer of white wash on the stomach, so you can compare the black spots there to the others on the white side. Not a huge difference yet, but still something.
It's very messy looking right now, but I'll clean it up as it gets closer to being finished. I've been brushing the fur out between each layer to prevent any paint clumps and keep it nice and soft. Of course the paint will change the fur texture, but I'm trying to minimize that as much as I can.

I think I had the most vivid dream, I woke up at a lunch table with 3 other guys. I was really drowsy and couldn’t hear the guy sitting next to me. I asked if he was mumbling or if I’m too tired. The guy in front asked why I was so tired. I was about to speak but I put my head back down and woke up for real. Pretty much experienced this in the dream

In other news, I got my GTA San Andreas from my old PC and got the save file also. I'm so excited to... just riding a car around the map. The small towns around Mount Chiliad and the borders between the major cities of Los Santos, San Fierro, and Las Venturas is my favorite part. Just seeing the forest, river, and hills, am also taking my time reading the road signs to figure out where I'm going while the radio is blasting.

Finished Majo no Tabitabi last night, it hits you unlike most wandering-adventure anime you watched. Meeting new people from local places you visited, they might be facing some problems when you came, but that's not your business and you're free to leave when you're done without a slight care on that problem the locals are facing.

Its not your typical hero's journey kind of story who fixes any problems they encountered on their way like the isekai stories which has the exact theme they're trying to sell but instead turned itself out to just spending the rest of the series explaining how the world's mechanism works and all the time is spent in just one town.

I feel like everyone I know is changing and I'm not. People I used to be friends with I check back in with and they're nothing like I remember. Their beliefs, what they find funny, it's all different and almost completely incompatible with me. I just don't get it. I haven't changed significantly. I feel like all the effort I've put into my art is worthless. The effort/reward ratio is 0. Over the course of three years I've put out like 35 comic strips and 2 full page comic books, along with another full page comic book I'm working on, and some music.

And my website gets 3 unique visitors a week, two of which are me on different devices, and one of which is my girlfriend. My instagram has followers but the only people who interact with my stuff is people I know.

What's the point, when people who are so much better than me still aren't successful.

So I've been watching Hardy Boys on Hulu and I'm pleasantly surprised by how much I like it. I was super leary at first because I don't like Riverdale, heard Nancy Drew was about as bad as Riverdale so never bothered to watch it, and I'm also not a big fan of Sabrina. Since Hardy Boys follows in the same theme of revamping an old classic children's story I was super worried that it would be butchered too, but so far it has been very well executed. I'm only on ep 6 out of 13 though so there's still time for things to sour.
What I most like are the character interactions. The kids all act like functioning human beings and not whiny brats who are incapable of doing anything and they treat each other as equals. I feel like in most shows when you have the older and younger sibling combo the older tends to belittle or overprotect the younger, but here they really balanced everything out so the brothers actually work as a team. I also like that the mystery isn't super obvious (I still haven't figured it out), much like the boys I can see the pieces of the puzzle and I kinda know how they fit together, but I still don't know anything concrete. Like their grandma is super sus and the police chief definitely knows something, but I still can't figure out what it has to do with this Rupert character that no one has even seen yet and why the boys's mom got murdered. So I'm intrigued to say the least and looking forward to watching more and figuring it all out.
Honestly, the only thing I really don't like about the show is the title card. It's real bad looking and doesn't match the tone of the show at all. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The world is built in such a way that drives men to be emotionally closed off and I wish people would acknowledge it more. I just saw a post that mentioned guys with "mommy issues" which I definitely will admit I am one of, but then it went on to basically mock guys for having those issues like it's a problem that they have emotional hangups and imply that they're all cheaters. I feel like in general men's feelings aren't taken anywhere near as seriously as mens. :(

There's someone hanging in the back of our new house, my mum were told by the knowledgeable acquaintance that its a she and usually goes back and forth around the backyard, but never inside the house so we could at least sleep comfortably at night for that.

I shit you not, my glasses went missing for the rest of the day and early in the next morning, it was on the dining table out in the open as if it has always been there. I went back and forth around that part of the table and it was never there, I was the last one to sleep in the house and no one was awake to have a look and try finding it the next morning, I was also risen from bed quite early and asked my mum who found it and she too didn't know.

I jokingly said "Maybe a ghost borrowed it or something lol" and she replied with "There's actually one in the back of the house, got told by a friend who lived near here who could see." The fact that I spent my afternoon in the back part of the house around the time I lost my glasses kinda confirms it, she probably borrowed it or something lmao.

Also, on the topic of ghosts, theres this park near where I live where me and my sister go for walks (normally when its already kinda dark) and once when we were on our way back to get out of the park, my sister saw this weird thing that was gliding across the grass. She ignored it because it was dark and stuff at the time, but later she went out on her own and when she came back, she said that by the lake (its pretty big), all the birds were screeching really loudly and were all gathered on one side of the lake lol. She also said that there was this weird fox just sitting there staring at her so she left cause she was freaked out.

A week or so ago, we were passing the lake and the birds were screeching again. Now we have this joke when whenever something weird happens we're like, iTs tHE goHsTs. lol

It's very frustrating that at random different keys on my keysboard will start to feel stiff for no apparent reason. Last month the W and E keys were not wanting to click, but then just as they are fine the T stopped wanting to click, but now the T is fine and the backspace button is the one not wanting to click. I have to really mash the button for it to work. -_-
I just need a new laptop all together. This one is a 2015. It's about ready for the graveyard. I've been toying with the idea of getting a chromebook for my next laptop, but 60% of what I use my laptop for is writing and I enjoy Pages way more than Word.

I've met people on one of these places that happened to use the others and we just never crossed paths for example.

The presidential inauguration is today. Hopefully everything turns out smoothly.

My drawing tablet suddenly stopped working last night and I'm so upset. I'm trying to figure out if I can get it to work again, but it could be a matter of either my tablet being too old or my laptop being too old, neither of which I can afford to buy a new one of.
It's so frustrating overall because my dad can go and buy a 3D printer, but not another cheap laptop for me to use that I NEED for school? Especially with a lot of stuff being online now?

Meanwhile, I have started working on a card game, and I'm currently testing the cards.

I'm hoping to get my card game released some time this year, preferably summer this year because there's an event at a "local" (hour and a half away) game store each year that is all about showing off games to people, but it's literally just me working on it, with my sister and her BF helping play test, and there's 188 cards to test.

For copyright reasons, I don't want to release the rules to the general public yet, but I don't know of any games that work like it. I have watched the seven deadly sins of card games, and I'm pretty certain I'm not breaking any of those.

One of the ways it'll be visually distinct from other games is that it won't have card art. There will be some art, specifically the card back, the background for the text, and 2 other elements of the cards, it won't just be text on cardboard. The other way is that all the cards that go into a deck will be horizontal to make text wider, rather than taller, which I believe makes it easier to read.

It's not in any way marketed to kids. No cool art for them and the average number of words per card is probably rivaling Yu-Gi-Oh! 2 or 3 years ago (though Yu-Gi-Oh! definitely beats it now-a-days.) It's going to be more marketed to people who've played card games before, but don't want to play their old main game, whether it be because power creep or just lost love for the game.

Not that it's in any way similar to those games, it's just that its first set will be about as complicated as a card game that's already been established for a few years.

Also, yes, the amount of words on cards could be reduced by keywords (though, since it's the first set and reminder text would need to be included, it would actually temporarily increase the number of words.) I don't hate keywords, but I dislike the use of keywords in situations that could otherwise be explained non-confusingly in plain text.

It'll probably only be released at the one store at the beginning. I'm not sure if we can even afford to stock a single store with cards. Our family isn't poor, we just don't have very much money to spend on anything that isn't surviving. With the cost of card printing being as high as it is (~$1000 to print and package a reasonable amount of cards for the first release,) I'm uncertain if it'll be easily affordable.

And... that's a lot of text. Like a fucking lot of text. I would highly recommend keywording commonly used phrases that is two more or clauses long for simple actions, or use keywords for conditions that can be represented by a single number.

Like Scry, which is "Look at the top X cards of your library, and put them on the top or bottom of your library in any order." In normal MtG, just "look at the top X cards of your library" isn't actually keyworded, like in Ponder, but since there's an action tied to it, which gives it a length of around 20 words, they just keyworded it. Opt is probably one of MtG's most basic cards, and it's just "Scry 1. Draw 1." If it was "Look at the top card... etc. Draw 1," it'd be unnecessarily wordy for an effect that happens so often in the game.

Cards, at their best, should be fast and easy to read. Keywords add initial complexity, but they're also crucial for allowing new players to understand what a card does easily as they can draw upon that knowledge just from seeing a single word.

And from associating cards and effects together, you can use keywords to make groups of cards which are mechanically and flavourfully similar.

Keywords are good, but the most difficult part about them is definitely understanding when you have too many in a set and when a keyword becomes too complex.

An example of why to not just keyword [NAMED] effects is MTG's Threshold. While [NAMES] work differently than Threshold itself, every time Threshold appears, the entirety of the activation conditions still appear alongside the keyword. In otherwords, [NAMES] are mtg's ability words, but with a slight difference of the "choose which one to activate" thing.

The only other things that can even really be keyworded are milling, bouncing, spinning, and searching. Ok, after looking through the 188 cards, there's also an effect that two whole cards share that could be shortened to something like "Grow: X," which would be short for "Once per damage preparation: This card gains an amount of extra health equal to X until mana acquisition," where X is a non-trivial thing, like the number of 1 Mana Spells you have or cards in your hand.

The only other even shortening of the card text I could reasonably do would to be to change "deal X damage" and "draw X cards" to "deal X" and "draw X," but that would remove a single word from half the cards, and also 2+ words from maybe 5% of the cards.

There's going to be 17 uniquely named cards per deck at minimum.

Printing stuff in non-bulk amounts is expensive. If you print a single card, it'll cost over $1.5. But, I do plan on having an online store that you can order play sets of cards from for the same price as a pack. But, if I've talked to a local store, they'll have a store code you can input on the site to only buy a play set for $1 and buy it through the store, so the store gets a large portion of the profit.

One thing I want to do with the card packs is to have each card have a full play set appear in a box at least once. In addition, I'd want to include 1 foil version of a card per pack, which would be the incentive to buy packs vs buy play sets directly: Upped rarity cards. Every card would have the same chance of being either normal or rare. Maybe when I have actual money, I'd include some hand-picked cards to be "art-rares" that have a little bit of art behind the text, in the same way that Ravnica's guilds had their guild emblems behind the text of cards.

There's also going to be no set rotation on most sets. However, there will be set rotation for specific sets: Unstable Void sets, which will rotate after 2 years. They're, thematically, just some portals to other universes that allow magic through, and disappear after a while. In reality, they're a way to get the best of both sides of set rotation: People will eventually get to play with cards they bought 20 years ago, but also I get to experiment with mechanics without fear of the mechanic being meta dominating forever. Everyone'll be safe in knowing it'll be gone in 2 years if I mess up.

But, if a mechanic is decent enough, I can print it in non-rotating sets, even straight reprinting some of the UV cards, so they stay legal forever.

Something else I want to do with packs, or at least the first set, is to make the packs and boxes simply black text on white background. The idea is to have the box stand out as a blotch of bland in a sea of vibrant colors.

Speaking of money, there's this story I've heard from the older members of Indonesian Dollars that also involves money.

Quite a renowned member within our small niche community saw a business opportunity that is by selling Dollars-logo-stamped T-shirts and each would also be stamped with the preorderer's Dollars username, he shared this idea with 2 other members whom he persuaded to join and decided that they will divide the income between 3 of them evenly.

Selling T-shirts with custom pictures sounds quite overkill you might think, but this was back in 2012 so the concept was still new for majority and quite a bunch of other members preordered the shirt. As for the legality to make an income from the Dollars logo, I didn't even want to know but that happened.

Things took turn for the worst when the preorderers had all paid their money, the renowned member who proposed the business idea in the first place cut off all contacts and ran with the money. A truly dick move, the 2 responsible members in the team are now left with the duty to finish the job and deliver these shirts to all buyers without a single cent of income and they did. Every buyers got their shirt, you can't help but pity them a bit to have to work their ass off without any payment.

Its a bitter memory, but the time when some members got their shirts switched due to the username difference was arguably laughable. As long as you didn't think of where the money ended up, that is.

This story was told on a voice channel during a late night discussion, it was never documented in text form so this might be the first ever documentation of the incident. I was lucky enough to be in that voice channel at the right time to hear this story, there was no evidence Country thread regarding the incident in the first place.

As for the bastard's username, I would keep that a secret. You're free to search the thread though, the once-renowned member also promoted the shirt in the thread but no evidence about him running off with the money.

well my dad said if I dont have a job by the first he's gonna shut off my phone and access to the internet. I've been trying, putting in job applications and such but nobody has gotten back to me. He doesn't care and is still gonna shut it all off, which will make it even harder for me to get a job.


I've fantasized about being voluntarily homeless alot in the past, and if I wont have my phone or internet, the two things that kept me from leaving the most ANYWAY and the biggest things I'd miss as a homeless drifter, then like....I may as well go right? I'm heavily considering it and I'm deffo packing stuff just encase.

That being said anyone here got any advice? Any tips? What I should pack?

On another note, I journey-ed to Dollars Telegram recently and talked with a bunch of folks there. They had the most mature and welcoming atmosphere compared to anywhere else around Dollars. Also found and talked with an ex-discord mod there since apparently they admitted its comfier in it.

If I were to summarize it:

Discord is for the young teenagers and has a fast-paced streaming conversation. GroupMe is the same but without the fast-paced conversation, you can take a break there at the very least. Telegram is the embodiment of a friendly room in drrr.com, newcomers will be greeted and is free to join the ongoing conversation anytime they want.

Seems like some people there is on the same frequency when we talked about how difficult it is to join the conversation on Discord, but it's what it's. Small amount of members are sometimes a blessing.

Related to art copyright thing we talked about the other day i think, wtf is this conversation even.

Some updates: MPC (Make Playing Cards) can't do randomization. I'll need to find a different place to package my cards or just do it myself. MPC is still the cheapest company for card printing that has an online price checker. Cartimundi still has yet to respond.

Because of MPC's inability to mix foils and non-foils in a single pack, it made me want to figure out how to do rarity and I've come up with a system that I actually like more than foiling, since there's nowhere that's great to foil on my cards: Just use MMO rarity. Recolor the Spells' backgrounds and the non-Spells' borders. Maybe also recolor the Spells' borders, we'll see how they look.

No change = common, green = uncommon, blue = rare, purple = epic, orange = legendary. 6-9 commons per pack, 1 uncommon per pack, 1 rare every other pack, 1 epic every 13 packs, 1 legendary every 39 packs (i.e. one legendary per box of cards.)

At the start, I'd only be making 45 cents of profit per pack sold through stores, before the stores took their cut. That does, however, only include packs, not starter decks or playset sales. Cards are expensive when you print relatively low quantities. If I were to buy over 9 million cards from MPC, I'd be able to get cards for a little over one cent per card.

So, at the start, players will be getting terrible value of 30 cents per card in a pack just so I can make a measly $100 of profit. Eventually, I'd like to be able to actually give players good value, but still make a profit. The minimum I could sell MPC-made packs at if I had infinite money to buy as many cards and packs at once as I wanted would be 96 cents. I'd make half a cent profit per pack and players would get 18 cards per pack.

A more realistic goal would be $2 packs of 18 cards. Get the player a huge deal of 11 cents per card while I profit ~$1.045 per pack. Well, it'd be less than that because stores would take their cut.

But, starting at $3 per pack sold through stores with 45 cents of pre-sharing profits is barely affordable for me. I don't have $130k+ to spend on cards. The ~$1700 is already close to breaking the bank. We'll still have enough money to survive and stuff, but that much money spent at once will take away basically all our spending money until it is paid off, which I think will take at least a month, if not significantly longer. I doubt the first batch of cards would sell out in under a month, and one month is a very optimistic estimate, I think.

The real way I'd make profit is through online sales, where everything will be double price. However, people will be able to input a store code to buy it through the store at the normal store price, assuming I've talked to their local store to set up that system with them.

I could also setup a sort of pre-order system as early as right now for people to be able to buy cards before they're actually printed so I can more easily afford the cards and I know roughly how many cards to print. It would definitely help make the game more affordable overall, let alone at the beginning.

Though, all the cards I'm going to be printing in the relatively near future will all be for the Game Day event at the game store I used to go to Yu-Gi-Oh! locals at as a kid. I doubt that they'll sell out. I'm going to be taking as much as I'd expect a store to sell in roughly 2 months to the event just in case it does significantly better than I thought. And if I do sell out, I can start taking preorders.

One thing I want to do is to add the breakdown of the price on the back of each pack, and keep it accurate as card packs get cheaper to produce. For example, what would be on the first print's packs:

Cards: $1.6 ($0.16 each)
Card Pack: $0.95
Total: $2.55
Profit: $0.45
Price: $3

Above is the temporary* card back that I've used on some sample cards I ordered from MPC. I actually do own the Devrun Battlefields copyright, and it came about when I was working on a different card game 5 years ago. However, that game was more of a board game and I stopped liking the idea of that game since like 2 weeks after I started making cards for it.

*Knowing my "temporary," it will probably be permanent.

Standard is 40% to me, though, so I'm not certain if the store will want to start at such a low percentage, and I really don't want to give players a $7 card pack that has 10 cards in it so I can make a profit at 40%.

While I disagree with Naga in some issues (like how he definitely should double-down the ferociousness of his callouts), I feel the need to quote a reply from the Circlejerk thread (again).

Its not entirely wrong to thrash them, but you should also keep it at a reasonable level.

I do like how quickly we've silently agreed how to compress multiples of cards, as well as do Layer. We didn't talk about it at all, but when we have multiples of cards, we just lay them out so just their Mana is visible. When we have a Layer card, we've been putting the cards under the Layer card where their entire name, Mana, and their Devrun-specific mechanic is visible.

None of us talked about it in any way, and I wasn't even the first person to encounter these in our games. It's so cool seeing stuff like that play out in front of me without any of my input.

My Capstone team has put me in charge of purchasing the licenses we need for our app and we want to be able to pass on the licensing to next year's team if needed. So we do not want to purchase the license under my name, we want it under the project's name. It looks like I can easily do that with Google Play. No issue there. But for Apple, it looks like personal info (legal name, address, birthday, etc) is required, so I don't really know how to go about that. I'm gonna email our team's advisor and see what she thinks about this. But damn, why's Apple gotta make everything so complicated?

Our standards become increasingly strict. All of us adapt to them, because they are small changes to us. To a new member, they are completely absurd and asking of way too much for what is supposedly an open, anonymous, online community. They're ridiculed for what amounts to being a newfag.

Rather than open anonymity, the site functions more like a profile-driven reputation hierarchy. The more known members have blind support no matter what they say, even if they're fucking wrong. And nobody can stand up to them because they monopolize the standard by default.

It grows until people just stop coming. It's now only the "regulars" we're so proud of, and maybe a couple others without a sense of individuality. All of us think the site is fucking amazing because it only consists of people we chose to tolerate, but our numbers have dwindled to a paltry couple dozen. There is no diversity, and outsiders know it as a shithole.

And one of the oldest and founding rules of the Dollars has been and always will be "Lurk first. Post later." The idea that new members should learn the lay of the land before jumping in head first.
The rules and expectations for this site haven't changed, people have just stopped caring about them.

But seriously new members used to come on here and be excited to join the dollars and be a part of our small pointless community. They actually took the time to read the FAQ, explore the About and Help pages, and would actually try to make threads that were interesting and fun. Nowadays new people just come on here to advertise their social medias and then leave a few days later when they realize no one on here cares about that stuff. And people can say that it's because the anime isn't popular anymore, but honestly I just think it's because the bulk of the internet nowadays is made up of twelve year olds who think having a large following on instagram makes them important or something. No one cares that the first rules of the internet are about anonymity.

Just noticed, but how did so much regular on this place has a name that started with the letter N?

So for some reason I felt the need to read The Time Machine by H.G.Wells (it took me about 3-4 hours to get through). I remember watching the movie adaptation years ago when it was relatively new so I thought I had a vague understanding of what I was getting into. I guess I should have realized this and come to expect as much, but Hollywood as a way of exaggerating stories. The original story is much simpler, not an ounce of romance touches these pages and the conflict is very clear and for the most part easily remedied (it being the time machine's theft and its retrieval). I think the idea of the movie was that it wanted to impart a moral lesson, but the novel rather just wanted to fantasize scientific theories that were popular in the 1800s (ie the theory of evolution).
Still the story was not nearly distorted as Mysterious Island by Jules Verne was. The movies completely throw the original story to the wolves what with the giant bugs and minitaure animals. It's all ridiculous. In the book the island is just a normal island and Captain Nemo is there too and the main conflict is just a bunch of pirates attacking them.

But anyway I'm sidetracking, I guess my point is that I surprisingly like H.G.Wells's work. I might try to read some other novels by him like The Invisible Man.

Finally tried PvZ the flash version, there's a special Survival Night Endless mode there. The game ends after you got Grave Buster, so you gotta make do with those plants in the endless mode. And since the game never progresses to the Roof level where Gargantuar is introduced, they substitute it with the exclusive flash-only Giga Football Zombie that has as much health as Gargantuar to crank up that difficulty level and match up the true Survival Endless experience. Also, only 4 plants per 2 flags hloy shit.

No plant upgrade, no pumpkins, and no melons, which is really the S-tier plant when it comes to Endless mode. One thing that really amused me is the fact that I used Chomper more than I ever did in the full version, to make do with the lack of insta-kill plants and the only 4 slot of plants.

With the way it is, I guess its safe to say at some point it will just be a game of spam-planting without any strategy anymore.

Like holy shit dude, this thing is a fucking lambo-shaped tank. You really gotta spam chomper when they arrived in waves, which is really an expensive plant but has a short cooldown. Its easy to get ahead of yourself and before you knew it, 2000 sun is wasted in just a single minute just spamming chompers in the middle of the zombie horde and losing them all in process.

I'm not sure if Firion is suffering through PvZ or not.

Man, I've had a character concept I've wanted to play as in DnD for forever, but it would require a DM who's up for it. Basically, it's an isekaied guy who becomes a Sorc from the transfer over. He'd take Prestidigitation and literally every other spell is irrelevant to the build.

After getting Sorc's Metamagic, go all-in on Fighter. During combat, he'd cast prestidigitation to conjure a small gun + bullets. He'd use the Quicken Metamagic to make it a cantrip so he has his normal action to attack with. Twice, or even thrice, after a few levels.

The reason it requires DM approval more than most builds is that Prestidigitation says "a trinket." I could probably work them to it incrementally, if they allow stuff that's not in the trinket section of the book, by going spring > chain > jar of powder > rubik's cube > 6 small jars of powder in a jar > gun.

Spring to be able to argue the fact that the gun will be able to have a functioning clip-like structure inside. Chain because that's multiple, non-fused objects that count as a single "trinket." Jar of powder to reinforce the fact that non-fused objects can be summoned and so I can argue for gunpowder. Rubik's cube because it's relatively intricate, relative to many normally summonable things, and that means I can argue to allow the intricacy of a gun. Multiple jars to see if it's possible to summon bullets that are already loaded.

Alright conclusion time.

Setting a standard in a community goes a long way, but it is guaranteed to be preserved if the community kept going strong and tight. That wasn't what happened with our BBS, the generations of the old era faded into obscurity and as a result, that standard disappeared with them.

Default standard is set by the majority of the community members agreeing on certain subject, so if the majority of member is gone then that standard also disappeared. When younger bloods came in, they were unable to recognize the standard because the leftover of the majority still intact is now a minority and of course no one ever listens to the minority.

A law is not a law if no one is enforcing them, a law is also passed only when everyone agrees for it to be enforced. The landscape we're currently facing is, the minority has a standard and the majority are the newer blood who didn't even know the standard's existence. The minority trying to enforce the law/standard to the majority who didn't even know about it will be confused. Its like a police yelling at a civilian to read a book of the existing law they're showing, but the book is just blank.

Megumi Mori's Azayaka na Tabiji song as the 21st ending of Fairy Tail just really struck my heart in the right place. I haven't even watched Fairy Tail that far, but the song really just screams "sayonara, dont forget me" and I really am not a fan of forever good byes.

The cards arrived~~ They're great. A little darker than intended, but I was told to expect that, and 2 errors, one of which was definitely my fault, and one that was user error, but only because their website's card input tool is dumb.

The first error is that card backs were the opposite direction than intended. This is because I've had the card maker export cards rotated the opposite way from the way we've been playing with them. It didn't matter until now because they're just pieced of paper inside sleeves with actual cards. It completely slipped my mind, and lefties would play with their deck rotated the other way, anyway, so they can easily draw and fan their cards the opposite direction from us.

The other is that the card backs (and only the backs) have a significantly thinner bottom border and thicker top border than the front (in addition to them being uneven.) This is probably because their card input thing has the "cut here" lines default to slightly higher than even possible, by like 2 or 3 pixels. If you even just click the cut indicator, it'll fix itself. I guess I forgot to do that for the card backs.

Other than those things, the cards are great. I just need to increase the contrast on the cards and card back, in addition to brightening it a little and fixing the alignment issues, and they'll basically be exactly what I wanted.

Also, can't recolor the border of cards that do into the deck because it's very obvious at a glance where the higher rarity cards are in the deck.

So I started reading The Trials of Apollo on Monday and finished them today. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed them. I tried reading the Magnus Chase series a year or so ago and ended up dnf-ing halfway through the first book. When it comes to the demi-gods they all kinda end up sounding the same which can get very boring after 20 or so books. Apollo was definitely a breath of fresh air though. There were times when Riordan slipped back into his usual writing style, but I could tell that he was really trying to convey a unique character and a unique story.
What I liked the best was that the books talked a lot about emotional struggles and mental traumas, but did it with an adult voice while still being directed at a mg/ya audience. Most mg and ya series when talking about mental health do so through the pov of a teenager and it comes off as being very whiny and stupid. But given that Apollo is not actually a teenager Riordan was able to convey the message in a much more mature and informed voice.
I also appreciated that Apollo was bisexual. I honestly can't think of any novels with a bi-character being the mc. Even in Riordan's other works all of other lgbtq characters are not main characters. The most popular gay character would be Nico, the son of Hades, but even his story gets overshadowed by Percy and Jason.
I think the biggest drawback to this series though is that you have to read the Percy Jackson and The Heroes of Olympus series before reading this one. Even The Heroes of Olympus could be read as a standalone series considering that the mc's get amnesia so the plot and characters of Percy Jackson have to be reintroduced to both the characters and the readers. In Trials of Apollo though the books depend on the reader having previous knowledge of the two series.
That being said though I would definitely recommend someone reading all three series. They are quite fun to read and I would consider Percy Jackson at least a staple book series for everybody to read.

Also I checked out Riordan's website and he and his wife finally started their own production company and are working with Disney+ and Netflix to get Riordan's books the live action adaptations they deserve. The current movies are absolute garbage.

Speaking of Netflix this reminds me that one of the comic series I read on Tapas, Heartstopper by Alice Oseman, is getting a live action adaptation on Netflix. I'm super excited for it especially since Oseman is writing all of the episodes herself and is actually apart of the live action adaptation process.
I do so hate it when production companies buy the rights for books from authors and then just dump the authors to the side. The end result is usually a disaster (like the Percy Jackson movies).

Going off on the kill or be killed thing, humans probably realised somewhere along the line that if we all agree to not kill each other, it works out better for all of us; our own genes will be passed down and we, as a species, will be able to survive for longer. Social contract theory or whatnot.
And about the killing each other is seen as evil, I think part of the reason why an animal killing another animal is not normally thought of as evil, most of the time the animal they killed is food: they're killing because they kinda have to. But us, as humans, do not need to kill other humans in order to survive/eat. Eh, not really sure though

I've been feeling really bored lately. It is so incredibly hard to concentrate on assignments. Just this last semester though.. I can do this.

Had a dream that every house had this weird section in it that was a 30-ish foot long hallway with stairs leading down into nothing, just a wall at the bottom of the stairs. This section of every house except mine was haunted, but I didn't know that because my dream self had played in that section of our house a ton as a kid and there was never anything weird.

So, while we were over at someone else's house, I went to go lay down in that section of the person's house because I had no interest in being part of the conversation that had nothing to do with me or anything I care about. Not long after, Minecraft Steve appeared at the part of the hallway that lead back into the house and ran at me.

I thought it was just a hallucination at first and got my phone out to record it to see if it appeared in recordings as well, which would at least somewhat hint toward that it wasn't a hallucination. He did appear in the camera and recording, but just thought it was a very thorough hallucination. He reached me and hit me twice, but I didn't feel anything, which reinforced the idea it was a hallucination in my mind.

At the 6th hit, a small sense of dread appeared in me, which grew with the 7th, 8th, and 9th hits. On the 8th hit, I decided to get out of there, and on the 9th, I was certain I would die if he hit me one more time. He chased me back to everyone and disappeared after someone else saw him. We left soon after and I woke up.

It kinda gives you more opportunity to make the gifts extra special.

So I finished the Magnus Chase books. My old feelings on them still stand. They are pretty much copy and paste from the Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus series. The only difference is that this series starts out with a much more diverse cast, characters including-a muslim character, a deaf character, and a genderfluid character all being prominent in the story. The Percy Jackson series was very much your average white kids (mostly male too), Heroes of Olympus was a bit more diverse but as I mentioned before their stories were overshadowed by the main character's stories. I'm not sure if I'd recommend someone taking the time to read the books (even if there's only 3 of them). Maybe if they come out with a graphic novel adaptation I'd recommend those...


Also ice everywhere. Really I swear Spring got murdered. Just last week it was in the 60s(°F) and now it is in the 20s(°F). This morning I ran my car for 30 minutes before taking the ice scraper to the windshield and I still could not clear away all of the ice because it was so thick. I had to drive all hunched up looking out of a hole that was only about a foot in diameter. :/

I was looking through my one of my old PC's SSDs and couldn't tell what was taking up so much space- until I checked the Steam library folder. 956 Gigabytes. I uninstalled a few games I haven't played in years (Hitman, Arma, etc) and freed up 350 Gb in a couple minutes.

There was a saying it came from the literal term, 'bump' as in 'give it a bump' so it moves the thread to the top of the board. But someone also proposed that it stands for 'Bring Up My Post' B.U.M.P.

Someone might know the true meaning out there somewhere, but this is what we have so far and oh boy does it sound convincing.

Its just a term you used when you want a thread that's a bit old and buried by a bunch of newer threads to be seen by people that might've missed it out, but you didn't really have anything to contribute to the conversation or discussion in the thread. Hench, replying with 'bump' essentially means "I've got no words, but perhaps other people has?"

Because replying to a thread always moves that thread to the top of the board, unless you tick the sage box of course. You might've guessed that, but yeah.

So, I figured the quickest most optimal method of skimming the board is as follows. The eyes should glance at the marked areas in numerical order, figuring out whether the top 5 threads listed has changed order or whether a thread's post number has increased since the last time you saw it, then scroll to said thread by recognizing the title and read the 3 latest replies of said thread before deciding to reply or reread the entire thread before doing so.

But meh that's a hassle, I never did that purposefully. Just throwing it out there for an interesting outlook.

Because the site is designed to look and feel similar to the anime's, not for its user's comfortable experience. Like, if one could experience a fictional world coming alive, why would user's comfortable experience even matter in the first place?

I'm curious though, did you guys ever utilize that top 5 thread list consciously? Most times I only use it because I accidentally glanced at it and then thought "Oh cool, new thread down below."

Sad. Trackmill is down and probably has been down for years. I wanted to play Free Rider 2. Way back when, I made like 20+ auto scooter levels and wanted to have some fun making more. Free Rider HD only has bikes, so making any auto levels on it would be boring. The scooter had a lot more room between the wheels and rider to put stuff in order to make more interesting setups.
