PLEASE/MUST READ BEFORE POSTING *Old post was closed so this is a remake with minor adjustments.
An increasingly large amount of posts in Main that don't belong in Main are irritating many members as well as clogging up the feed and diluting the amount of things that actually do belong on main. This post was remade primarily to outline what is acceptable to post on Main and what is not, as well as a very brief explanation as to why, and where your post should have been placed originally.
1. DO NOT POST YOUR INTRODUCTION HERE It can not be emphasized enough that we have an
Introduction board for a reason. If you want to introduce yourself, go there, then lurk quietly so you do not anger the other members.
2. ’We should do something and start being real Dollars!’ Instead of making threads to talk about why we should be doing Missions, why not, I don’t know...do Missions. Don’t make these threads, they’re pointless. Simply do the
Missions.
3. How do you ‘search for threads’? Simply click on the ‘View all threads’ at the top right of the screen and then press CTRL + F (Windows) or ⌘ + F (Apple) and search for the thread you are about to post
before you post it. 4. What's 'sage' and 'bump' mean? There is a checkbox towards the top right of the text input area when you click 'New Reply,' it's labelled "Sage:". Clicking this tells the site you don't want to send the thread back to the top of the board because there's a new reply. That's a Sage. When members say '/sage' at the end of a reply, it's because the post they replied on was deemed inappropriately placed or made. A bump is when someone posts a minimal amount of information in a reply to a thread, with intent for the thread to be sent back to the top of the board for people to read the original post.
5. Who's the owner/leader? The creator of this site is named Reltair. You can reach him here: admin@dollars-bbs.org There is no 'leader.' End of story.
6. ’I am Izaya/ Where are the Yellow Scarves/etc.’ No. This is not a roleplaying site, but if you are truly that desperate to pretend to be an anime character, take it to the
Random Board. 7. Is this a real gang? Dollars are so cool! Step back and think about that for a moment. Enthusiasm is appreciated, but just think about this statement and you’ll have an answer. Check other threads already made for discussions on this topic.
8. Are the Dollars good or bad? Again, you're on a forum. You are what you make of yourself. So, these questions really don’t contribute to anything.
9. How many of us are there? I've seen this question asked countless times, and one of those times was myself, admittedly. Honestly, unless you're willing to track down every person on the planet who's ever seen this site past the password input screen, there's no way to truly tell.
10. Are there any Dollars near me I can meet up with? There's a
Countries board to the left, under Main. DO NOT make a new post for your country. There's a huge chance it already exists and is in the
directory thread. Once in the Countries board, click "View All Threads" on the right and you should find it easily.
11. Anything regarding an App There is already an app created for the BBS, the link to it is
HERE, so please stop asking about it. Almost every app I know of requires a wifi connection to work. This site was made using HTML, XML, and CSS (and perhaps some other things as well), all of which are mobile-friendly. If you have a wifi connection on your phone, the app is not necessary since the site works well on its own. If the gigantic desktop potatoes of the early 1990's can handle those codes, the pocket computer in your hand with a stronger processor most certainly can.
12. Where is [insert username here]? Check the
Status Updates Thread or the
Personal Board and see if they said whether or not they'll be here for a while. If not, lurk around and check out the time/date stamp on replies. The person you're looking for might even be on as you read this.
13. Shameless self-promotion or advertising I know you're excited about a thing you made and want to show everyone, or found something funny, or need help winning a contest, whatever. We are not your personal advertising control group, don't treat us as such. Artists looking for more criticism/help, there's an
Art board on the left just for you. Same goes for filmmakers and the
Films thread, and video game makers in the
Games thread.
Site admin’s view on this. 14. Bored Chats Don't put those here. They don't belong here. If you're bored and wanna talk to someone, either wait until someone enters your room or invite people by posting in the Random Thought Thread on the
Random board, not here.
This is the site for idle chatter. 15. Chat site down Refer to
this thread. If you're still not satisfied, tough. The BBS does not own the chat sites and therefore cannot solve problems on there.
16. "Help Me" Don't get me wrong, I'm all for seeking help. However, if we continue letting people post these kinds of threads on Main, somewhere along the road we may find it difficult to distinguish between trolls and people who actually want/need help, as well as the fact that everybody goes on main and not everyone is very kind with their words. Please post your thread in Personal to get the attention and assistance you desire, everyone there is there to help.
17. Let's spread the Dollars/get more members/make a difference! There is a
Missions board under Main to the left with everything related to that. Those posts have their own special section, please don't post them here. If you wish to do some easy missions then check out these few threads to get you started!:
