In my opinion, you shouldn't have put the "Going to be gone" part, because then it'd imply that the thread would only allow "I'm going to be gone/I was gone" posts and not "I'm back from" posts.

Saturday, I'm going on vacation for a week to AR. I might post once or twice during the week... maybe... on eat-food-day.

I'm going to be leaving the Dollars for the foreseeable future. I don't know if I'm ever going to come back, maybe, but not likely.

Why? Well, because...

I've been a Dollar for a long time. Not too long, not even a year, but I've spent alot of time browsing the boards, posting occasionally... And I've noticed something.

It's as if no one is allowed to make mistakes. No one is allowed to mess up. If someone makes a mistake, it's like a rabid pack of dogs descends upon the person, and quite frankly, I don't like it. I was under the impression that the Dollars was a group of people trying to make a difference, even just a little bit.

But it's like, all the kind, nice people are hiding the corners, afraid to come out, while, on the other hand, there are all the angry, mean people out in the open. Correcting the mistakes that people make in a not-so-helping way. If you make a mistake, that's it.

There are self-elected moderators that take it upon themselves to be extremely rude and mean to people, as a way of correcting mistakes. What they really should be doing is politely and kindly pointing out the mistake and helping the person learn from it, so that they don't do it again.

I don't know, I just don't really feel like this is a welcoming place. And no, I'm not 12 or anything, I just happen to not enjoy being surrounded by annoyed, angry people.

So yeah, I'll be leaving, and that's my reason. Don't know when I'll be back, but have fun guys.

I am having a hard time deciding whether to stay loyal with MTG. A couple of my buddies had picked up air soft as another hobby (on top of MTG) and would like me to join them so we can all compete in tournaments and such. Keeping up with air soft guns are expensive and so is MTG.. damn this to hell.

Clearly, I have been gone. More than likely, I will continue to be gone. My job, girlfriend, video games, and a rekindled and regrettable addiction to Facebook have my time, so I've had none to spare for the BBS sadly. I'm starting to question my further involvement with the Dollars due to constraints such as these.

As you get older, you have less and less time to manage yet more and more responsibilities to fulfill. If I do continue to be involved with this community, I'm afraid it will be spontaneous and spotty at best. The truly depressing aspect of this is that I have come to really enjoy some of the fellow Dollars. There are those of you who are very talented at making masks and other costumes, those of you who share my taste in music and are aspiring musicians I would enjoy watching progress and grow in your talents, those of you who have a wonderful intellect and beautiful way of conveying concepts reserved for the philosophical and string theorist, those of you who are purely pleasant to talk with and whose posts reflect outstanding and largely under-appreciated individuals, those of you who have a knack for quick wit and often are the conduits of comedic comments, those of you whose tact and discretion of morality and social norms are uncultivated yet show so much insight promising to develop savvy hearts and pragmatic minds, and those of you who simply share common ground in the same interests as I whether that be anime, movies, comics, etc.

All of that is not to say this has not become a breeding ground for the absent minded and fucktardity of today's youth. There are more than plenty who frequent the BBS who are less than desirable; much of that perception could just be the age difference of about or over 10 years, but that doesn't make it any less annoying for me and others I'm sure. It is hard for me to say whether the majority of Dollars are worth a damn or not. Regardless, I can say with absolute assurance that those who are worth while more than make up for those less desirable. The Dollars, and there are many, who I have found to be promising, independent, and outstanding individuals have made every pixel of this place valuable.

I hope that I am able to continue interaction with some of you, perhaps even through different mediums not limited to the BBS and chat. I wish you all more than luck. I wish you renewing ambition, persistent diligence, and lives where purpose and meaning is not so fleeting and difficult to discern; believe me it is there even when you find yourself completely oblivious to it. This is not a "Goodbye" so much as it is a "I hope to see you around."

As a parting thought, in the fandom and themes found in Durarara which have inspire and influence the creation and aspects found on this BBS and in this rendition of the Dollars, many of you enjoy quoting/paraphrasing Izaya's words "The world isn't as bad as you think." I would challenge that to a degree; the world may in fact be as bad as you think if not worse. So I pose to our community, our BBS, our concept of the Dollars, two different notions that I feel hold more truth and reflect the spirit of this community. The first notion is "You are not alone" and the second is "You are not as weak as you may believe." To no end do I think these have reason to become a new tag or charter, but I do see them as being worth considering each day.

From this point forward, I'm going to be gone for 2 months. I have an 'office' in drrrchat Mondays & Tuesdays ...and whenever else I feel like it from sometime in the morning - noon, eastern time, if you need to contact me. I'm just too busy and I don't have enough self control to limit my time here!

tbh the more attention i pay to this bbs the less authentic it is. i found a new site that is invite only (and i may invite the dollars i respect the most through email) and is waaay more authentic.

all the problems in our suggestions board have already been taken care of there, we actually have accounts, people have respect there are no trolls, people read before they post, and people don't ignore me and then come crying to me to fix their lives because they didn't want to listen to begin with and fucked up big time (all those ppl know who they are =_=)

I can relate to you to some extent. I'm not a very active member so, though I've been a Dollar for a year and a half, I haven't been noticed that rudeness or aggressiveness most members have mentioned in this thread.
I think it really is a pity, because I know for a fact that the Dollars that are being more and more fed up with this situation are actually the ones who care the most about the community, the site and make it interesting (and work).

Obviously I respect anyone's decision of leaving permanently. The members who are disrupting the site should be conscious about this and ashamed because in the end this will make the BBS die in a sense.

Just a warning: if I'm not on for a week or so, assume I've been grounded even more-so or have had my school computer taken away. Otherwise, I should be on a little bit more after Saturday, 'le~!

Hello, I have decided after a lot of thought to rejoin the Dollars. It was sort of a really dicky thing to just leave on such a short notice five months ago and abandon everyone (serious I only left one message on the Discord and vanished).

I probably can't be as active as I used to be, seeing as I'm with a healthier group of friends now and actually enjoy spending time with them (as well as needing more time to prep cosplay and shit). Though I did enjoy the community and the people here. Oh dear, I do hope most of the same people are still present :/
