okay so, me and a few others have been meaning to make a new android app thread because, lets face facts, the old one turned into trash where people just keep complaining about how the link OP sent out didn't work, and no one wanted to read the comments to find the link to a different (*cough* better) app....
please don't yell at me about the old thread, that one needs to die, and it seems to me that so far it has (meaning I have not seen it bumped in a while)
please let this thread stay in the top 10, so that people will not keep making threads asking about an app, or going to the old thread, ignoring the people who are trying to help, and complaining about the old dysfunctional app or the less-old (but still older than this one) app that does almost nothing


This is the download link to the app that roadrunner made, right here and it is freaking beautiful! It has everything that is remotely Dollars related in it. It has private chats, notifications, a main chat, a way to view the Tumblr Account , an RSS, the Drrr chat, and is linked to the BBS, and a few other things that you can find in the missions section...the only thing it doesn't have is a search button, and it is possible that one will be added. And it seems to me that there is only 1 ad when the app is first started. Once you close that ad, there won't be any random (and annoying) popups that can redirect you to different places

We, meaning me and the few others that use the app, think that this app will be key to our organization in the future, because it has a "chat with members nearby" function, and our Dollars Map inside of it. So we can check and see if people we think are Dollars, but aren't sure of, are really Dollars without direct communication (which is dangerous,) or accidentally giving ourselves away (which kills the colorless vibe.) If both people have the app they can check and see if a member is nearby in the chat, and ask the person to describe themselves or send a pic so that the wrong person isn't approached.

you guys, at least try the app before you deny it as a way to access Dollars related-things....
and if you like the app, tell any other Dollar you know that uses android about it, but please keep it strictly between DOLLARS, i know the password on the home page of the BBS does nothing, but it scares some people away, but this app does not have the password lock screen on it, meaning if the app somehow spreads outside of the Dollars and people like it too much, we could have a crap-ton of people flooding into the BBS...(i think one of the reasons that it should not go into the app store is because this way only Dollars will know about it)
[tbh to scare my friends away when they try to get into the app on my phone, i use a different app to lock this one X3]

if you have any questions about how the app works, or have any suggestions on how to improve it, there is a contact button at the very bottom of the menu, and roadrunner is quick to reply, and updates the app a lot faster than most of the "professional" apps on my phone, so that is also an added bonus


ps. this is an ANDROID APP i know absolutely NOTHING about any ios apps (and whatever windows phones run on...) so please do not ask any questions about those here, if you want an ios app either make one yourself, or sit patently until someone else does

This app has been out for a while now. Very polished and very innovative and useful. RoadRunner is often quick about any suggestions for the app. I highly recommend his app. Notifications as well profiles for the users. Really cool.

I want to download it, but I noticed it requests access to modify or delete the contents of my SD card, plus read the contents of my SD card. I don't mean to be paranoid or something, but why does it need to do this? I've never gotten this request with other apps. Can some people who've already downloaded verify...?

Does anyone know why I can't press the Install button even with Unknown Sources enabled. The Cancel button works, but Install is like deactivated.

I've recently installed the app and I think it works nicely! It doesn't always send me the notifications at the right time, and sometimes I have to open the app for the notifications to arrive afterwards, but it still works nicely! Big thanks to the people that have worked on it!
I still think that the logo should be the Dollars logo and not Celty's helmet, but it's fine I guess xD

Hey guys I know it's been mentioned about the iOS apps but is there currently anything? There's a surprising amount of dollars apps when I search google but I can't really sort out the good from bad?

Dunno how hard this would be to code and have work securely, but wouldn't it be cool if it told you when there were Dollars nearby your location? :)

That would be both cool and frightening, considering how many people on this site hate my guts.

But wouldn't that be kind of exciting?! It wouldn't say a username or anything, just that someone in your general vicinity is running the Dollars app. Maybe you could send them a message, but it still wouldn't identify you unless you chose to say that you're, say, the guy with the hat by the restrooms.

It would still probably only get used, like, once. Ever.

I am sure that it will not delete anything from your SD, but because I don't have iOS, I cannot be entirely certain. I'm sure AkatsuChan can clear up any confusion.

When you create a chat room you can make it hidden by ticking one of the tick boxes, and to get someone else on the chat room you can send a link to them, but you can't join using the link via the app and instead it uses the Internet browser. This is fake, don't download it. It had the ability to find your GPS location, delete the contents of your SD and screw up your phone/computer. It's just like the "vigilante" app that was sent out by email a while ago. DON'T DOWNLOAD IT.
