Or realistically, about half of us. So really, having no actual leader is better, lets the ones that are more informed, less busy, and have balls take charge and do their shit. In any case, it's been a year with Reltair not taking charge, and we've done fine. And we'll keep doing fine.

So, while few of us admit it, over the past few months in which all of this flagging down over advertising happened without regards to the actual rule in specific, it's true, what was used was not involved in the actual rule. However it DOESN'T mean that those that did it didn't have a reason.
When it did happen, it was primarily for one of two reasons:
1. It was general spam-looking material that no one was likely to give two shits about. It may have been material that could've easily been flagged down for different kinds of infractions or simply failure to be meaningful in any way, but "advertising" was the simplest way to state it, or
2. It replicated ideals that the current members (being the only honest and true deciding factors on what's right and wrong on the BBS) have sought to avoid.

With this in mind, let's look back at the original problem, shall we? And bear in mind that I'm not causing this to resurface out of dissent towards the poster, but for the problems being had by another member.

In his thread, he posted coupons. If we stopped simply at that thought, there would be many members here who could've used the spam argument of the advertising idea, because honestly imagine if the site was full of such things. The site has remained ad-free, and encouraging the spread of such things could very easily turn this place into spam-city. No one wants that.
Now, if we continue to look more deeply into the thread, the coupons were for "all our anime needs." While members here do not fully discourage anime and recognize it as a basis of the site's conception, the interests of the current members is that this site does not specifically exist for Durarara!, anime, otaku culture, or any of the like. Someone who came to the site on day 1 trying to RP or post materials of a fansite quality is almost ALWAYS called out on it, somewhat viciously I might add.

How would you account for that? There's no rule saying that we can't be a fansite, in fact there's no overarching dictum that states that it's wrong to perceive it as a fansite. It is only deemed inappropriate by the current members, and is thereby inappropriate, period.

So whether or not you choose to acknowledge it, there are many unwritten laws of the BBS, decided wholly by the interests of the people that use it. Can these ideas be changed? OF COURSE, but trying to fight with the people that maintain the current interests is NOT a proper method to go about doing it. Instead you should be trying to find those that DO agree with your issues, by creating a specific thread about it (preferably in the suggestions board) to gather support of any members that agree.

If there's enough interest, it will circulate to the rest of the site. If the issue has been brought up before and failed, or fails this time, it means that the current members (at least the ones that bother to act in any way to determine the matter's outcome) have decided that this is not what they want, and that you must tolerate the decisions made by the rest of us.

But wouldn't you expect, that the moment he actually comes out and STATES something, that we shouldn't have a choice in the matter? This thread was made only for Group(like ours) advertising, nothing more and nothing less. Yet, because you and a few others couldn't even decipher "Group", nor were you able to read the background as to why this thread was made, you jumped the gun and did your own shit, not even doing what you suggested everyone else should do.

I agree with Thiamore; anyways, its not a hard rule to follow. Reltair provides us with a great site, and we should follow his rules out of respect and appreciation. It's as simple as that.

My main point is that when Reltair makes it his business to post about a specific thing, then comes back on and states his intentions, it's not our right to try to pull the "we decide the rules" bullshit.

We only decide the rules when Reltair doesn't do it himself, where he lets us choose how this place runs. But when he does speak up, it's for an important reason that unlike what you fucking want to think, we've no right to ignore.

This has almost certainly been said before, and I guess I'm not entirely sure it belongs here, but it does need to be restated.

The number of other "organizations" making an appearance in the various boards here in the BBS is unacceptable.

There are a number of different kinds of these often ridiculous groups, and none of them belong here.

The first among these has seen a sudden rash of outbreaks and has produced at least a bit of spam across multiple boards, and these are a direct insult to our admin, to say the least, and our members. These are the rip-offs.

The posts almost always go the same way. "The Dollars suck, the Dollars don't do anything, the Dollars is all about sex, all the Dollars do is roleplay and chat..." sometimes it's followed by equally meanless but far more ridiculous blather. This of course is followed by a plea, "Quit the Dollars! Join the __________s! We have lots of members, we actually go out and do things! We're improving the world!" Then of course, a link. A link that takes you to an empty site, with basically no members, and often literally no posts or activity, and no missions.

Your pointless advertising and blatant attempts to siphon off members is not appreciated, and will not be tolerated.

In particular, I've noted that a number of these sites are exactly identical aside from the names and color schemes. Take from that what you will.


The next kind is perhaps less important, but as annoying and pointless.

Apparently, the Dollars BBS is home to dozens upon dozens of secret organizations of assassins, mercenaries, spies, and gods know what else. -_-

With names like "The Black Darkness" or "Hades' Hellspawn" or "Heroes of Callofdutyassassinscreedblackcatbleachorwhathaveyoufansqweeidiocy". There seems to be a lot of spies and assassins who like to publically announce themselves here.

To that, I say 'cut the crap'. Anyone stupid enough to believe you isn't really worth convincing, are they? You're idiots, and we don't appreciate your foolish stories. Especially when you're asking people to join... How does one join a fictional group? Either way, it's still group advertising, and against site policy.


This site is wholly owned and operated by one admin, if I'm not mistaken, who goes by the screenname Reltair, and he has stated there is to be "no blatant advertising of other groups on these boards".

So, remember, whereas suggesting a relevant site or organization to someone in conversation, or in the appropriate place and time is tolerable, blatant spamming or irrelevant posting is not, whether for advertising, commercial or otherwise, new groups, stupid lies, any combination of all of the above, or any inappropriate behavior I haven't addressed.

Please do not respond to these threads or encourage these posts, and if you must post these threads or disrupt site activity, simply leave. You're wasting your time and ours.
