I'm sure you've noticed, it's pretty quiet around here these days. I have a theory. Checking back here almost every day I've noticed, people just aren't posting, but I know (or suspect, rather) that people are lurking. When new people come here, they see it's inactive, and don't stick around. EVERYONE IS LURKING!

So, I propose this. If you're here, make an effort, reply to at least one thread a day, it doesn't have to be a profound insight or anything, just a "hey, I hear you, that's interesting!", if we can show new users that we're actually here, people might stick around more!

The problem in the content of the post. I was a very active member here some years ago, but I left because it´s really depressing seeing people who want to commit suicide and replies telling them to do it; that's NOT what dollars should be.

Here's an idea or two, watched an interesting Anime recently? Find a thread of it on Animation board and bump it! Didn't find any trace of it on the archive? Even better, make one for it! Found an interesting News? Share it on the News board! Listening to some Music? Share it on that thread on Music board! Playing an interesting Game? Find a thread of it and bump it up! Didn't find one? Make it yourself! Or perhaps the thread didn't provide a good enough description that portrays the excitement your game holds? Remake the thread with a better description!

BBS sites (or forum sites if you wanna call it) were made to provide the community a place to give and receive, from-members-to-members so to speak. If no one is going to give anything, no one is going to receive either. There's a cycle waiting to go around, a cycle of shoving each other with information or ideas in-turns.

Communications via chatroom used to be a thing, but from the six listed main chat groups on the Chatroom page, only IRC is used to actively talk about the site from time to time nowadays. The other groups are probably fine with the site being nuked into oblivion, they're comfortable with each other's company after all.

I guess it depends on what you view as the Dollars, whether its the site or the members. If its only the members, then you can see all those kinds of people residing in the group chats, completely unaware of what is happening on the site. I myself believe that both are responsible in creating the Dollars that we knew today, the concept of the site and the members who took part in keeping it afloat is what makes this place "this place," if that makes any sense at all.

The community is what you make of it after all, reiterating >>6. There's no rules stating that we must help suicidal people, there's also no rules stating that we can't encourage people to kill themselves, so we mold the hive mind of our community to collectively reject that kind of behavior on our circle.

Simply put, we just need to drive off the people who had radical view than most of us that of which we despise and welcomed people who didn't have those kinds of mindset. The people of majorities are the ones who's in power after all, like we've always been. We mostly worked on democracy system folks, if people cried out loud enough then it will come to be, whatever that is. Unless Reltair steps-in, but that's very unlikely.

I have returned! yeah I guess we should be more positive? I know that I have mostly outgrown the site, and I think that is a part of the downward spiral. On to the next generation!

Now seriously, I actually kind of appreciate the slow pace of this community. I'm not a very socially-oriented person myself, so when communities get big enough I usually find myself drifting off, because eventually I just can't keep up with it.

Now would I be against this site growing? Absolutely not, I thing it still has a long way to go before reaching that critical point. But I still do appreciate what we have right now.

For me, the fun of this place is that you just talk to the abyss and, from time to time, the abyss talks back and you can hold a nice conversation for a while.

How should we go about recruiting?

My personal take on that idea, if we can't even take it upon ourselves to uphold the Dollar's value, even the outsiders we're trying to recruit wouldn't believe the stability of the community that recruited them.

Why did people came here in the first place? What makes them stick around? What makes You stick around? Definitely not because some strangers from the internet told you "Hey, visit this site!" I reckon. Stop lurking and start posting, there's a community down here that wants to just hang out and discuss whatever topic was around whilst chilling.

TLDR, recruiting is taking the easy way out, it wouldn't solve the problem in long term.

I'd like it if we started recruiting, and make the Dollars a real thing, not a gang of course, that would be stupid, but to make us something more than just this, because I don't completely understand what we really are.

We should recruit and spread the word about us, but how should be do it? Do what the Dollars did on DRRR? Should we do "missions"? But when I say missions, of course I mean become ideally what Mikado wanted the Dollars to be. If someone asks for help, we should help them, etc. It would be great to help others. I'd like to have ideas on how to recruit, though, I've never done anything like this before.
