What's with all this Breaking Benjamin, Black Veil Brides, Blood on the dance floor bullshit, im ashamed to call many of you my fellow dollars, so this thread is dedicated to bringing out the BIG guns, im Talking meter complexity, melodic vocalization, and beats that would blow minds

I'll start with a personal favourite but keep in mind that ALL genres are welcome, the idea here is to find someone who is GOOD AT WHAT THEY DO.

Without further ado i reveal to you

London Grammar - Metal and Dust

Lana Del Ray - American

Tool - Reflection

RAdiohead - Reckoner

The Underachievers - Herb Shuttles

Dir En Grey - Glass Skin

Massive Attack - Teardrop

there is so much more lets get this started guys.

The idea should be about exposing people to a broader range of music similar to what they like, rather an musical elitism. Not everyone likes the same things, you with soft vocals and interesting melodies while I prefer lively music with strong vocals and/or something that I can readily sing to.

Location - Freelance Whales
Invent it All Again - Faded Paper Figures
Let it Go - The Neighbourhood
Two of a Crime - Perma
Dance Anthem of the 80's - Regina Spektor
Good as New - Vacationer
Constant Conversations - Passion Pit
Genius & a Wizard - Rachael Cantu

A good way to find new music or find things similar to what others like is http://www.last.fm/ It's what I did on the breaking benjamin post.

Wait, so is the only purpose of this thread to try and "outdo" each other in musical taste?

That's pretty fucking sad, and that's even coming from a fellow elitist.

If the idea of this thread is more along the lines of what >>3 suggested, that is, trying to broaden musical taste, we have a Suggestions Thread that hasn't seen the light of day in forever and seriously needs a good bumping. There are also plenty of genre threads in the archive for people to debate the best of their style, so that also deems this thread as an irrelevant duplicate.

There are also threads such as the Music Discovery Thread, Current Album Digs Thread, Fave Genre Thread, and Fave Artists Thread to use as general places to discuss things you're listening to and encourage others who may like it to give it a listen as well. The less elitist you act, the more likely people are willing to give it a go. If you want to vent about bad music, then there's always this thread too.

And of course last but not least, if you're sick of bad threads of bad artists on the board, either make or bump up good threads of good artists. It's more or less law of the board to avoid making a thread for multiple unrelated bands, sharing only the common factor of "they're better than _____ is." If the band is deserving enough of the attention, give them all the spotlight with their own thread, not clumped into one. Like for instance, we have a Tool thread and a Radiohead thread and a Lana Del Ray thread and so on whose creators I'm sure would love a bump of their work.

So nice try, OP. And it's nothing against you or what you listen to (since I actually like a lot of it), but this thread will either result in butthurt or redundancy of other threads, and since you seem to have the right idea but just went about it the wrong way, I'm hoping you'll follow my nudge in the right direction.

A toast to good music and those who enjoy it. /o/
