Self-explanatory. Attaching a picture of the album art would be nice too. And try to throw in a comment or something about the album so this doesn't just end up turning into another picture thread.

I'll start.

Yes - Fragile

Currently trying to get into more Progressive Rock bands, mainly ones from the late 60's and 70's, but I dunno how deep I'll get into the genre. I love Pink Floyd, and as for Yes, I'm really digging Fragile (obviously). Planning on checking out Close to the Edge next. Then off to King Crimson.

Except that thread is more of a favorite albums of all time thing.
Does every album you get into end up on your "Top (#)" list?
I wouldn't think so.

5 Name: Yatahaze !E/8OvwUzpY : 2011-12-19 21:45 ID:qicPmvpK [Del]

>>4 Fair enough, what I was suggesting is since no favorite all time/for the moment album threads even existed before 2 days ago, why not just combine em?

6 Name: Ryukyu : 2011-12-19 21:59 ID:IxvcX30e [Del]

>>5 I don't frequent these boards too often, but I'm just going to go ahead and assume that really isn't an option. Or is it? ..I don't know. ohgawd

But either way, these two threads will probably end up generating two different types of discussions, so I wouldn't suggest combining them in the first place.

I don't understand the appeal of Nickelback.

Anywho, moving on:
I wouldn't exactly say that I'm "in love" with it, but I'm considering getting Bloc Party's debut "Silent Alarm" with some of my Christmas money. Catchy stuff with a great indie rock/alternative/British thing going on. Drums are fantastic too on tracks like "Luno," and "Like Eating Glass"

Then again between the Thrice DVD I want, and the new Chevelle album that I've heard was decent, but actually haven't heard yet, I don't know if I will. Whatevs.

Downloaded 6 things over the weekend.
Clockwise, from the top left:

La Dispute-Here, Hear I:
A short EP of spoken-word tales with nice, minimal backing instrumentation. The EP consists of four tracks, the longest being just over 2 minutes. Great poetic stuff.
(Things To Look Up: Four, Three)

La Dispute-Here, Hear II:
More of the same. The instrumentation here is a bit more of the focus, and some tracks such as Five and Eight are brilliant. The other two are possibly my two least favorites of the Here, Hear series. Overall this one is my least favorite due to the derp inconsistency. It's overall just a tad longer than Here, Hear I.
(Things to Look Up: Eight, Five)

La Dispute-Here, Hear III:
The most recent volume is by far the best overall. The songs here are...well...more like songs. The spoken word section are barely there in the last two tracks, which works for the better in them honestly. Ten shows that yes, shorter lengths are better, but this is otherwise an outstanding EP.
(TTCO: Twelve, Nine, Eleven)

At 30:30 when all three EPs are combined, I'd say anyone who likes poetry (and also those that hate it) should download this shit right now. It's great for setting a mood, helps with writers block, and is refreshing and relaxing to listen to.

Now onto the other 3 (new post for character length)

47 Name: Yatahaze !E/8OvwUzpY : 2012-01-29 21:06 ID:qicPmvpK [Del]

La Dispute-Somewhere at the Bottom of the River Between Vega and Altair:
Don't expect more of the same from the Here, Hears. This is ridiculously different, and their full length debut. This should grow on me more over time, but those that hate whiny/screamed vocals, stay the fuck away. This shit, while just as poetic as the EPs, is not for easy-listening, it's for the moments in life where you want to rip someone's throat out. Based on an Asian folktale of the princess and the cowherd, I suppose this could be called a concept album as well. If heavy is your thing, this is the one you'll want to check out.
(Things to Check Out (what I meant by TTCO in HHIII, lol)Such Small Hands, Said the King To The River, Bury Your Flames, The Castle Builders, Andria, The Last Lost Continent)

Noir Desir-des Villags, des Digures:
Fuck. This shit is eerie. Look at that album cover.
Yes, it's in French, and from what I can tell out of the translations, mainly war based. Tidbit of info that adds to the oddness....this album was released on Sept. 11, 2001. Yeah. Fuck. It's so good though. The 23 minute closer "L'Europe" is probably something really profound and deep in French, but for the average listener, it's really just noise for the sake of being noise. The other 11 tracks on this are outstanding though.
Mainly acoustic driven, it has some African-drum-like influence in most of the tracks.
(TTCO: Lost, Des Visages Des Figures, Le Vent Nous Portera, Bouquet de Nerfs)

Flow-Golden Coast:
This one's for the weeaboos out there. What can I say?
Shit's poppy. This was the 4th Flow album I heard, after Microcosm, #5, and Isle. Microcosm is still my favorite, and the other two unfortunately wore off pretty quickly. Golden Coast is like a mix of those two, but more subtly poppy, and with far more ENGRISH. Really, this could turn out to be my 2nd favorite from the group.
(TTCO: Days, Dear, Realize, Funk-A-Style, Blue Bird)

I recently just downloaded the two EPs by Crosses. For those that don't know, Crosses (typeset as "†††") was just formed a year or two ago by Chino Moreno of Deftones, Shaun Lopez of Far, and Scott Chuck. The group is mainly electronic and synth, with a dron-y? alternative rock edge and I really don't know what to say about it. I don't typically listen to much of anything electronic, so I don't know if this really unique music in any way, but it sounds very, very, good. In my opinion, the second EP is better, but both are fantastic. You can listen to the two full EPs here:

Counting Crows. Their name stems from the old poem about diving the future by counting the crows that you see. This has been my favorite group, and my favorite album from this group. Honestly, they have some more odd songs, but they have a great feel and nice, relateable lyrics, for the most part.

Mylo Xyloto.

/Whee, Horray for Coldplay!

I've been listening to the songs non-stop. Especially Paradise, God I love that song. The MV for it was nice too. Humorous, but meaningful.

55 Name: Yatahaze !E/8OvwUzpY : 2012-02-04 21:20 ID:qicPmvpK [Del]

>>54 I've heard lots of differing reports on the quality of Mylo Xyloto. Some say it's their best since Rush of Blood, others hate it. Considering I haven't heard any of the stuff on it, and the only Coldplay album I own is Parachutes, do you think I'd like this?

56 Name: Bread!BREADU25mg : 2012-02-05 09:53 ID:khE+WM9Z [Del]

>>55 Well I (personally) wouldn't compare anything to Rush of Blood to the Head. That album has some godly songs.

Mylo Xyloto itself is pretty nice though. The style of the songs are a bit different from the previous albums, but it's equally diverse. If you haven't followed Coldplay for a while, the differences aren't too clear since they've always kept this 'softness' to their songs.

If you liked Parachutes, then you might like this. To be honest, I bought this album just because of 'Paradise' and 'Hurts like Heaven', but I fell in love with the other songs as well. You should listen to some of the songs on the tracklist and see how you like it. I'm not too sure what your preference of music is, but it never hurts to try.

The Republic of Wolves - Varuna
This one will be a huge grower on me for sure.
If anyone knows Brand New, this band, also from Long Island, originally started out doing Brand New covers. You can still really hear the sound here. Some of this band's stuff was actually at one point thought to be Daisy's demos. Hilarious, but I can see why. There's an atmosphere in this album that can't quite be pinned. It's dark, it's moody, it's intense, and it works. I haven't listened to it nearly enough to give it a "favorite track" or a "recommended track," but you can try "Oarsman" to judge what most of this album sounds like. I'm still trying to figure out the weird edge this album has that makes it stand on it's own. (Vocalist sounds so close to Jesse motherfucking Lacey, it's not even funny) Whatever it is, it's good. An excellent debut record, and I expect much more from these guys in the future.

Gamma Ray - Land of the Free

You know, I have to be honest.. prior to discovering this album, I avoided most Power Metal like the plague, mainly due the the MAJOR cheese factor the genre is well known for (as far as lyrical content goes). e.g.: Dungeons, dragons, goblins.. Narnia.. yeah, I'm sure you get the point.

But after hearing giving these guys a fair listen, I realize now that I was being much too close-minded. This album.. is simply amazing. If this is a good representation, then I think I might want to look into more Power Metal. Just maybe.

There really isn't much I have to say about this album. The guitar work is breathtaking, the lyrics have just the right amount of cheesiness, and the vocals (courtesy of Kai Hansen) are terrific.

In all seriousness, this is the BEST Power Metal album I've ever listened to.. I mean, it's the ONLY Power Metal album I've ever listened to in full, but.. yeah. I really don't think any other Power Metal album I'll listen to will surpass this one, but then again, anything could happen. Who knows?

Either way, this album kicks major ass. Highly recommended.

"Hats Off To The Bull" by Chevelle

Initially thought this was their weakest effort, kind of disjointed and flow-less. While it's still not outstanding as an album, the individual songs have been growing on me tons now, like 5 months later. The closer "Clones" is possibly one of their best.

In my honest opinion, the pinnacle of hardcore punk.

If you're a post-hardcore fan, you've probably already listened to this album, or at least seen it mentioned quite a few times. But in all seriousness, this is deserving of all the praise it gets.

If you're a fan of post-hardcore (or hardcore punk in general), and you haven't already given this album a listen, you must change that. Immediately.

It's not like I just heard the album and became a Led Zeppelin fan. My dad is a musician and I've been exposed to music my whole life and He's responsible for introducing me to bands which would in turn lead me to other bands my dad never talked about... Or liked...

Led Zeppelin was actually a band my dad wanted me to get into earlier. But at the time I was happy listening to the Rolling Stones and Jimi Hendrix. So Led Zeppelin was just... just there. I ignored them for the longest time but then something happened. You'll like this part.

I was waiting for a friend to pick me up so we could stay at his house overnight before we would go to an ANIME CONVENTION early in the morning the following day. My friend is always late. I knew this. On top of that I had a few hours to kill before he was even supposed to pick me up. I looked through my mom's DVD cabinet and found my dad's long lost live Led Zeppelin DVD. Why not?

When I started the first DVD which was of the Royal Albert Hall in 1970.

I had a few Led Zeppelin albums on my Ipod already but I only listened to them once or twice (Back then, it was nothing but Jimi Hendrix and I thought that there was no competition between him and Jimmy Page). But when I heard them live, something happened. Then the third song in their set. The one that changed everything. It was Dazed and Confused. I knew the song as a six minute bluesy stoner rock song with a bitchin' bassline. But this version had an extended solo with Jimmy Page using a violin bow on his guitar. It sounded amazing. And this live version was about 20 minutes long.

It was magical. Led Zeppelin, a band that was just there on the sidelines. A band I've ignored for years suddenly becomes my favorite band. Though Jimi Hendrix is still my favorite guitarist, Led Zeppelin is my favorite band. The Jimi Hendrix Experience was mostly a one man show. Sorry Mitch Mitchell and Noel Redding!

One of the reasons I liked The Experience was because Jimi Hendrix would always do something different with his songs. He would rarely do them the same way twice. With his songs jamming into twice their normal length, I just found peace in it. Which is probably why I ended up loving Led Zeppelin so much.

Why I chose the first album instead of the live Led Zeppelin DVD? Well, it's because it has four of my many favorite Led Zeppelin songs that have all exceeded 80 listens on my Itunes not including the times I've listened to them in my car. But I love all the songs on all the albums. But "In Through the Out Door" was pushing it.

I hope everybody finds "That One Band" someday. Maybe you'll know what I mean. Who knows? Maybe some day I'll find a band I like even more than Led Zeppelin. I'm still young. There still could be some band I've heard of and brushed off similar to Led Zeppelin.

Long post. I have a lot more that I could type but this is already too long. Words can't express what I felt. What you can get out of this is: I LOVE LED ZEPPELIN! In case you haven't noticed.

I am obsessed with this album and this singer in the last days. Yes. I did watch Nana some years ago. OK, 6 years ago and I really digged the music, but I never thought I would find it again some day. And a couple of days ago, this album just popped in my Spotify and I listened to it and I am really happy with the music.

I am in love with the singer. I dig her. I really do.

The album is called "Strip me" by the singer Anna Tsuchiya.
