I know that we are trying to keep things low profile, but I was wondering is there was any symbol to let others know when we meet in real life. If there isn't, should we create one and what should it be?

It could range from a written symbol to a gesture or even a handshake. I have only been a member for a couple of months and would love to meet some of you in real life.

I haven't heard of one... how do you guys want it to be?
I can't think of anything but... the password maybe?

The biggest reason this doesn't work is because someone proposes a new idea every month or so, thinking it's original. Be it handsigns, passphrases, codewords, or any kind of marking. There's just no way of getting everyone on board.

Identifying other members should be as easy as asking.
I used to argue my point more about how many of these topics were actually discussed in the series. But I'm not certain everyone agrees with me.

We could all put a decal or sticker of our logo on our cars/bicycles/motorbikes/whatever transportation you use. Buy some printable stickers at office depot (maybe $2.99 USD) and print them out.

You can make the stickers yourself, just swing by any decent office supplies store, pick up sticker paper, and print them at home.

The symbol I've seen most Dollars use is what we coined as the 'Dollars Salute' which is like a regular salute but with just two fingers.

I think its just a matter of asking people.
But if you really want, there are stickers, bags and shirts on RedBubble. Mark your town with them. There is also the "countries" page where you could look for people in your area.

Maybe like a tiny thing to attach to your backpack or purse. Like a keychain or a purse. Maybe even a pin that has the Dollars logo on it. A hand shake isn't really relieable. They can only be used when you figure out that they are in the dollars

How We Just Say A Code Or Phase Like This, "The World Isn't As Bad As You Think."?

I like InfoBroker1's idea. There are some of us who cant obtain the necklace or whatever you guys agree on. I think, if one of us suspect of someone of being a dollars, you should go up to them and say "This world isn't as bad as you think."

and then the dollars suspect should reply with one of the selection that I think would be easiest to remember...

The map is a good idea but What if the person moves. how will you find then? Or what if another Dollar deletes another Dollar? I think the phrases are a great reason!

I mean using a phrase is an awesome idea but otherwise maybe deciding on one small item that is worn on a specific part of a person's body, like maybe a small band ring worn on a certain finger, and then you would talk to someone you see with the ring and maybe a certain response to a phrase such as "nice weather today" then maybe a correct response would be something like "I heard it should stay like this for the rest of the week" or something. maybe even not something like the weather maybe a greeting that someone could use anywhere when talking to anyone and then if a member uses maybe that same greeting or a group decided response will tell you if they are in the dollars. maybe it could only be something as simple as a gesture or small fiddling hand movement.

The one thing I still stick by, at least in terms of these threads, is that it's highly unlikely you'll notice that they're part of the Dollars unless it's something that stands out as being highly unusual, and this doesn't really fit with the idea of anonymity.

But what would that symbol be? If we do a scarf, it'll be too similar to the Yellow Scarves. Things like rings or bracelets aren't very noticeable. We could do a black shirt but not everyone has tons of black shirts in their closet. What about a black jacket or something? In the summer, it could be a sweater vest.

We all just need to think of something and stick with it. Anyone up for a vote? I think we need an discrete object used to recognized other Dollars (that outsiders won't notice), a certain hand sign or salute for those who can't get the object (so far, we have a salute with two fingers, and I think that's a good idea), and a normal everyday phrase that we can say when it would be awkward to do a two fingered salute. (Something like "I heard your phone was broken." to which a Dollar would reply "Yes, the camera is cracked and the speakers are fuzzy".)

Ask if the word BACCANO means anything to them, and if asked reply with "that information will cost you a dollar," this accompanied with a wink is very effective.

One idea that came to mind, that if there is ever gonna be a meet up, one person sits under an obvious spot to us, but not to anyone else, and if a second person who is there for the meet up sees them, they walk up and ask a random decided upon question, and the person has to respond with a decided upon answer. Something only we would know. Just a thought.

Use the map...if they move then they can move themselves on the map. If the map gets deleted or altered in any way me and a group of people have back up maps that are regularly saved. If the person is not on the map or no contact info then it is likely they dont want to be contacted. Seriously how do people not see the use of the map for this. All issues are covered.

What if you want to meet up with one of the Dollars? And your not sure who your waiting for? If we have a way for other Dollars we won't ask if someone else is part of the Dollars. If we ask then people will find out about us! And that won't be a good thing!

I think it would be cool if we all have something like a few letters written on our hand with Sharpe or a pen. The code can be 3 digest, like 114 or 546. something simple. But I do agree with UScitizen457. we don't need to symbolize ourself's. Honestly, it is fun to know that everyone thinks I am normal when I am not.

As mentioned before, it is probably better to use the map, make sure you mark yourself on there so others in your area can see you. If we choose something like the logo, then the person we see with it might not even be a Dollar and just has it as a fan.
I have heard so many suggestions during my time as a Dollar, and some of them seem pretty good, but there is no way we can get everyone to go through with it. There was drawing a "D" on your hand but that would just attract attention and raise questions, there was also the salute which seemed to work well. You greet someone with the salute, almost like a wave 'hello', but what if the person actually returns the salute not really knowing what it is.
If you really want to meet others that badly, then get some connections and find them.

Ok the map is a good idea but lets have a phases as well as the map. The phases can be a back up plan in case something happens to the map.

There is currently a group of members that each have copies of the map. nothing is going to happen to it. We also on a regular basis save the map offline in case something does happen to it. I kinda hate to say it but theres almost no need for a map. :/ plus we can communicate via map by putting down some for of contact info. like literally any bases that I could think of have been covered.

No visible symbols or indicators. Remember: the whole point of the Dollars is to be colorless and indistinguishable, as opposed to other color gangs in the series that wore specific colors or clothing to make themselves known. Having everyone wear a necklace, bracelet, keychain, etc. would sort of ruin the defining characteristic of the group, I think.

I feel that in order to have any consistency with our identifiers, the only thing to do is have a voting forum, tally everything up, and have the admin officially announce the winner and/or post it to the main page. That way we don't have to rely on something "catching on."

I mean if you really wanted something to help identify Dollars members like a symbol or a code word (and this is just an idea), then some Dollars members can voluntarily learn Thieves' Cant (if you don't know what that is then I suggest looking it up).

Thieves' Cant sounds a bit complicated; not everyone will bother to learn it. Remember: we're not looking for a means of secret conversation, only discreet identification, and for that we need something that's so simple even the laziest, most worthless person on the site will be able to get it.

Just any single word from Thieves Cant would do. A question that can be answered with that word would also help.

Best to keep low profile cause we dont wanna mess around with the big boys, gangs like the bloods and crips I dont wanna play by those rules. When we reach high numbers yeah like around 5.000 but still stay invisible.

There is a symbol i have been using for a faction within a different dollars site. The faction ended and can be used somewhere else. it's a )P but connected and a dot in the P.

I really think that we shouldn't have a symbol we are invisible for a reason and if people are seeing people with TD or something about the dollars they mite think the wrong thing that were a gang and real gangs like " the blood and crips" or " west side" and we'll get jumped and probely die. Once we tried to identify other dollars by a phrase we asked other people like "Which colour has a dollar?" If the person said "Dollars are Colourless" or someting similar we knew the person knows about The Dollars.

Maybe we could all wear a white cloth or something to show that the "Dollars are Colourless".

For example, when you want to know if a person is Christian or not, u would usually draw half a fish and if the person is Christian, they would draw the other half of the fish.

I hope with this example, u guys would be able to understand what im really suggesting.

I like @scarface's idea, I mean it makes sense. Since we're colorless phrases like those would be good to make sure someone is truly a part of the dollars, and we wouldn't be putting ourselves in danger.

I remember that. I also remember a D with a stroke through it as a symbol for the Dollars. A lot of people came up with a lot of ideas to recognize others. Instead of thinking countless more ways up, how about we compile all of them? If we have a list, we could easier choose one or two ways, which we then could adapt as 'official'. I'm sure if we decided on one thing we could ask one of the people who handle the FAQ to include it in the next batch.

And a little bit of my personal thoughts: Out of all ideas, I like >>54 probably the most. Questions retain the 'invisibility' of the Dollars, which many people are hung up with. Also, you can easily talk yourself out of why you were asking someone if they knew a thing called 'Baccano'. (How would you explain why you asked someone how the world looks in their eyes or which colour a dollar is?? "I wanted to be philosophical" or "I just wanted to check your IQ"?) + It's a question you can ask anyone. Like really. You can ask it a stranger or a person you know, but aren't familiar with. I'm open for other sly question+answer combinations though :3

How bout someone design a not obvious logo and post it here so we all can just save it do whatever we like wt that logo. Either make it a phone case or a keychain or a sticker. Idk depends on everyone creativity. Beside dollar is a group that has varity of people.

How about the Japanese symbol for "dollars,"

Perhaps we could use the white double rings from the existing logo. To non-members, it wouldn't really mean anything, but it would be easily recognizable to Dollars members. As an alternative, our logo could be a ring made up of multicolored dots like the lettering in the existing one. It would be a way to pay homage to the original version while still making innocuous and making it our own.

how about a phrase instead? Some irrational phrase that has no meaning to non-members, but does have a meaning to members. After all, it corresponds with "clearly colorless"

I drew a Baccano logo type thing. We could choose a logo for us that's different from the anime/manga so we don't get mixed up with the fans that don't know about this website. To make sure that it's one of us, we could ask a question and expect a certain answer.

@RikkaChi seems like a great idea, especially when you mentioned not getting mixed up with fans. Pins, Tees, Hoodies, and eat. Could use this logo. To the average person it's just an off brand.

Personally, I don't think it's a very good idea. The thing that separates the dollars from other gangs in the Anime as well as in real life is the fact that we have no color, we are all different people living different lives. We are not all the same conforming to one mind, we are individuals, it's not that we have no color, we are all colors.

Yea i think we should all have a way of knowing if another person is in the dollars and we should probably have more than one way of knowing this just in case the person is not able to do it that way so then they could do it another way to find out.Here are my ideas-Wearing a shirt that is mailed to all members of the dollars-Wear a bracelet or necklace that is cheap enough for every one to buy at a store or website-wear a type of bandana to signify if you are a dollar-Hope these ideas are of some use.:)

Well personally, I prefer it over buying something and having to wear it every day, which may also make you look wierd, for some (i.e. ring/wrist band or the logo on the back of your hand)

Also, if we choose for say, the question "Does Baccano rings a bell to you?", it can always be brushed off as an anime recommendation. Also, it would help to separate the normal fans from the actually Dollars members, since normal fans would just answer "yea, that anime was awsome" of something around those lines

When I saw the poll, I was disappointed that simply asking wasn't included as an option.

I feel like we could just use a patch but those can easily be bought off of amazon or something so. But I personally like the "What colour is a Dollar" question answered with "Dollars are colourless"

But we could wear certain things to identify us but we do have to keep in mind that we are colourless. So wearing a Dollars necklace might be optional, I usually don't see people wearing those. To most it would be embarrassing but to us it could be an honour or something else.

Um, so far the leading result in the poll that I see is for asking what color the Dollars are. For me, I wouldn't have the courage to actually go around and ask people that question. I think that having some sort of symbol for the Dollars would be smarter. I've seen suggestions and things for DRRR merchandise, but that doesn't really apply to just Dollars, it applies to all fans of DRRR. I thought it would be more interesting to create a symbol, just for us, that only we could understand. So I went and tried to create one, and it is based off the Dollars logo but doesn't explicitly state that it is. To others it would just look like a cool design, but to other Dollars it could be recognized maybe? That way if we see someone with this design, then we could ask them what color the Dollars are without making complete fools of ourselves. Well mostly just me making a fool of myself. What do you guys think? I also posted this on a few other threads.

I also agree that the Dollars are supposed to be colorless and stuff but it would be cool to have a small symbol that can cat h the eye of other members. But the main thing of the dollars is to remain colorless. So, I'll personally just stick with asking to find people, I think.

It seems there are a lot of different designs that people made to identify the Dollars, should someone make a thread just about those designs? I was just wondering because I thought it would be more organized.

I'm too lazy to read every reply so I'll just say my opinion. I think having a 'Q&A' is inefficient. In the anime, people can just ask others out of the blue because most members of the Dollars lives in and is usually hangs around Ikebukuro (not to mention the ridiculous amount of people Izaya pulled in almost equal to the number of people in Ikebukuro each day). However, the 'real' Dollars takes place worldwide, and if you were to compare the amount of people on earth right now, and the amount of people who knows and is a part of Dollars, the chances of you getting a response out of a stranger will be very slim. (I imagine it would be pretty embarrassing if the person just ignored you or didn't understand the question) Also not all members read every thread, some even come here only to chat in the chatrooms. I'm positive members who are aware of this thread is about 1/2 at most, some might not even care. The best bet members who wants to meet other members offline is to use some kind of item that would be noticeable, so other members can recognize each other. (other than the google map, of course) If this idea is favorable, it would be better to make a new thread to discuss the design (it could be a logo so that people can adjust it to whatever accessory they like to wear) since this thread is mixed with other ideas. Lastly, I'd like to remind everyone that the Dollars are supposed to be 'colorless', so using a certain accessory would be going against the idea. Using a simple Q&A would better fit the ideals of Dollars, since the only rule is to 'Say that you are in the Dollars'. Again, it's inefficient and you will rarely find another member that way. But I guess bending the ideals a little bit would not be a problem since it's only an anime. I can understand if people get unsatisfied connecting with each other through website alone. So what will it be?

In my opinion it would be cool to see who is a Dollar but on the other hand i think it is really difficult. To be honest i don`t think this whole Password or Question/Answer thing would work simply because you would have to speak with every person that COULD be a Dollar and to wear specific piece of clothes well in my hometown it is nothing special about wearing a Bandana so there is only a really small chance i would recognize a Dollar just because they wear smoething like that. But this sticker and necklace thing maybe isn`t a bad idea because not everyone has to wear something specific just with our symbol on it

I think that just using the Dollars symbol from DRRR isn't really enough, because then we'll just be mistaken for normal fans. That's why I designed a logo based on it but not exactly it at >>258. Feel free to check it out and tell me what you think.

In the anime, Dollars have no need to recognize each other, so they don't have any specific color or piece of clothing. But this is real life, so we at least should have something. And I like the idea of printing this logo on a bracelet or necklace.

I think a necklace would be cool. Those who know it will recognize it and those who don't will simply ignore it. Plus, you don't even have to buy one! Use an old necklace chain and print out the logo. Use some creativity to strengthen it-like cover it in resin- and, bam! A necklace! I think this is a cool idea although i will be weary of meeting new people but ill go along with it. Err also we need to get the dollars people actually wearing/doing whatever it is cause if everyone ignores it then it would SUPER hard finding people and this suggestion would not come to its full potential. Why not take the symbol of the Dollars itself in someway? If it's printed on a shirt, a hat or anything else, a normal person wouldn't notice, but a Dollar would. It's not like we can recreate the fantasy of fated meeting, but in it oun fantasy we can recreate it in real life, besides, it would be a way to meet the comunity, an Mikado actualy gave an oportunity for all members to meet each other, so, it's like the 'transparent' color showed themselves in person

Ok guys, not trying to be a party pooper or anything here but seriously... last time I came on this thread was nearly two months ago and the project hasn't moved forward by one small step. If we want this to happen one day and become official, we need to stop trying to find new ideas atone point and work with the ones we have on hand. I think we have way enought good ideas, and we already have had two polls to see which were the bests. IF you want to make a third one where you add some new options, go on but seriously, there has to be a moment when we decide to just take action.

i've gone to check the polls and the ideas may be brought into 3 types: some of them are ridiculous and embarrasing, some can make you be mistaken as a drrr fan, and others cannot keep you in secrecy. There's also some of the ideas like wearing a white cloth, which makes you blend into the crowd too much and can't be realized properly. i think the solution for all is creating a specific logo for the third type. it should be fashional enough for your family and friends to not ask, but not too flashy. it should't make your self be mistaken as a fan of drrr. and last, definitely NOt the dollars logo. we need to be invisible right? i think >>258 would be suffice

@kyan : I know you said on our arms, but where specifically and how so would we write it? The full word on our arm or maybe *my suggestion* just the dollars sign ($) on the topside of one of our hands. If you think about it, most people where clothes covering up those areas so people wouldn't know from a glance or quick look. Rather than hands, where it's more visible. I also mention the topside as we don't wanna smear off the mark if it were on our palms instead, you know what I mean? Just a suggestion I wanted people to think about.

I think that having your left hand in the 'ok' sign would be a good idea. Place it on your left eye. It would look like a lowercase d to someone who saw it and the eye could represent how they see all. Like in the image, but fingers would be straight.

We voted repeatedly (tournament-style) on phrases and hand signs a long time ago. I can't find the thread (a mod may have accidentally deleted it), but the result for handsign was the polish salute.

I don't remember the phrase (it was a simple question and answer tho, something like "what is your favorite color?" "colorless").
