As some of you may know, the design for wristands has been made. All we need now is a precise way of distribution. A few others and I have discussed it, but still have yet to actually find a way.

Well, when the others and I were discussing it, someone came up with the idea of having a hubs and just send the wristbands to that place and Dollar members can just pick up Tue wristbands when they go there. But in my opinion, we would have to have more membenr all over the world to do that.

I agree with Chris. i think it would be smarter to make the wristbanda available online so everyone around the world can get them. otherwise only American members of The Dollars would have a wristband.

I think you should just put them on ebay or amazon or something. Order like, a whole bunch, put them up for sale saying "stock: 300" or whatever number idk, and then when someone orders one, then u just send them individually. i think it will be easiest for most members, and itll be open to almost everyone.

Hmm... We should have an adress system. Where one Cell of an area has a distributer for any members who want any merchandise (such as the wristbands but future shirts etc.). To those who have a lower count of members around them should just ask directly for the merchandise.

I suggest that get the design and let your local wristband maker do the work instead of having an online item wherein not all people here have credit cards. Or be a volunteer for your country, make these wristbands and sell it to your fellow countrymen.

I'm gonna add this is in: what was mentioned in the old thread about the wrist bands was getting the admin to elect a treasurer or something to take care of the money issue. From there donations to the treasurer could be held.

I think there may be able to be multiple options in some situations (such as bulk buying and distributing in a certain city) but one thing I think should definitely be available is online buying. I don't know exactly how it would work, but we definitely need a way to purchase just one wristband online, and have it shipped anywhere.

Apologies for the double post, but I noticed that on the Wristband Connection site, it costs $8.99 for a single wristband, but if you buy 1000 of them, it's only $1 per unit.

It's expensive, and we'd have to make sure we had enough interest, but if we could, maybe, collect the money (via PayPal) before buying, we could order in bulk and mail out to everyone. That way, we would get the cheapest rate possible.

Also, fun fact: 999 wristbands cost more than 1000.

And yes. Usually, if you buy a whole lot compared to just around 10 or so, it's a whole ton cheaper. Also, if you want to have it shipped anywhere, I recommend ebay, which.. *looks above* I see most people have. And regarding PayPal, I don't think all of us have access to a credit card. Even if they do, their parents might object if they're using their parents cards rather than their own.

I agree, we should use amazon or eBay, because I'm most likely the only dollar in my area ( :( ) so I couldn't have a distributing place, plus if we use paypal you can use all the different currencies, most of the wristband making sites are in $'s so I can't make them myself :( so I think amazon or eBay is probably the best way :)

We still need to find a "sponsor" to buy in bulk in order to distribute on Amazon and/or eBay though, right? I would do it, except I don't have $1000 to invest at the moment.

I think it might be a nice idea to gauge the interest in the wristbands in numbers. So we know where to start, in terms of how many to order, when the time comes.

I think the desing is perfect, I love the black and white idea, but I still think you should put the site (or simply just "dollars-bbs.org" or the coded site link) on the inside part of the wristband. I think that would've been the cherry on top of the cake XD

I know you can't see it if you're wearing it, but if you ever lost the wristband that would be great for someone (maybe another Dollar) to find it. Just suggesting since it doesn't goes against the already decided wristband's desing.

not sure what all webisites you guys have checked but i do know http://www.wristbandconnection.com/ has the font from the design.

That's the site we looked at. I just checked again for the pricing though, and currently, there are 37 people who answered the spreadsheet form so far. As a general figure to start going by, 37 wristbands in a single order would cost an individual about $3.20, plus shipping. If we got 50 people interested, the price would go down to about $2.40 or so. An order of 100 would make the price a small fee of approximately $1.50!

Currently it doesn't seem like we'd have the demand for 1000 wristbands just yet. If one sponsor bought 50-100 (depending on the amount of responses in the near future) and shipped them out to people who want to buy from a sponsor online, as well as any city sponsors, we may be able to get these to everyone at a low price. It seems most people are okay with spending either 3-5 or 6-10 USD on a single wristband, but there are a good few who don't wish to spend so much. And I'm sure we'd all be happy to save a little money. But I'm happy to see that nobody was cheap enough to request the price of less than a single dollar!!

I think around $1.50 is reasonable, even if that's not even including shipping charges. Also, we should remember, when we do get around to placing our order, we should check how much it costs to buy just a little extra... Sometimes it's worth buying more than you need. For example, it is cheaper overall to buy 100 wristbands rather than 64. And you get way more for your money, too. I think it's important to take that sort of thing into consideration as well.

well since we have a map of sorts that gives loose locations of of dollars members if they tag themselves we could just pick one person in each cluster and send them x amount. From there tat person could distribute them. Now if we want to remain anonymous then that one person could geocache the wristbands and people could then seek them out.
Other option is simply to set up a shop hosted off this site to sell them.

I think it'd be smart to wait at least a few more days before taking action, though. We are getting responses every day, still. When we go a few days without many responses, I think that would be a better time to take things to the next stage.

To my knowledge, you can't sell this sort of thing on Amazon. I mean, if someone knows how to, please enlighten me. LOL But I looked around on the site and apparently you can only sell things that are already listed in their catalogue, like things with a barcode.

I don't think handing them out at anime cons is a good idea either. It seems too much like advertising, and the setting would lead people to think this really is just a fansite. Well that's just my opinion on the matter, anyway.

For matters involving those that dont have access to a paypal account, surely they could have a local person, i.e. in their state or country who does. Maybe have the money sent to them and they would order in and send off to the others?

If we put them on a site like ebay anyone can buy them, they'd become just a popular fan item.

We could ask people to be destributers for people in their area, like have someone in new york send out a message on the main or missions board saying to gather in a park or something and have them prove that their members(like state username) and give them a wrist band

Cut out the middle man, just let us buy them directly from the site ourselves.

I think that people buying it themselves seems better. Then we won't have to worry about confidentiality, trolls (if any are even involved), looking like fanboy/girls, etc. etc..

The only downside about buying for ourselves would really only be price. But its not a required thing to have to be a member of this organization. And saving up money for something that really doesn't cost THAT MUCH isn't going to be hard..

From the preview image, I was under the impression that it was the 1 inch color core wristbands, not the debossed ones. Besides, those are cheaper, and there's no requirement for how many you have to buy. (For debossed ones, you have to buy 100 at a time, or more.) Also, unless we make a bulk order of 1000, wristbands will be more than a dollar each.

Who cares if other people can get them? It's not like anyone would unless they knew what Dollars were. We're not a secret club.

I think the whole point of the wristbands is to show you are a member... If random people got them, it seems like it would defeat the point. If random people decide to become members, that's perfectly fine. But not everyone who gets one will necessarily become a member. Besides, there's nothing on the wristbands themselves that would directly point to this website. Frankly, there isn't anything on them that would point to any Dollars website. Therefore, we can't assume random people who get wristbands will end up joining, and thus it would defeat the point of the wristbands identifying members.

Personally, I think it would be cool to have it just for members. That way, let's say you saw someone walking down the street with one on, you'd know they are a member. But if they were readily available to anyone, you wouldn't know, and the point is defeated completely.

That's just my view, anyway.

Our cause isn't necessarily to be completely invisible. The whole colorless motto indicates a lack of discrimination, and not necessarily stealth. What members do with their membership is entirely up to them, and there's no overarching decree that goes against that.

Well Jello I'm Pretty sure about the online thing but maybe putting it on a Dollars members only web? Like This one, Where members have to know the password and people can just get it online. True about the shipping issues but i'm thinking maybe ask the members to pay for the shipping for overseas shipping if its too expensive. Would it be okay if its like that? If not i'm also thinking maybe get an "admin" for one country and get them to distribute it By making a Page telling them about Who's from where and then they can leave their addresses there, but there would also be the issues about members not wanting to give their addresses so maybe we could also arrange for meet ups?
Well those are my suggestions but they may not work depending on the situation with the members schedule and shipment fees but theirs no gain without pain.

It's kind of hard to distribute these wrist bands, so it was easier just to buy them our selfs from the manufacturer.

Now we need money. We need to set something up. Get the members to donate a dollar each. The money needs to go to a trusted person, perhaps the Mentors (am I using that word right? I'm a noob D:), to make the bands.

I just scanned through all the comments. As far as i can tell the online purchase seems like the best idea. I for one live next to out in the middle of nowhere. Atlanta is almost 3 hours on a good day of traffic. So far i think the best bet would be to just to buy in bulk and have everyone buy theirs. I think that trying to buy in bulk and distribute all over the world is too large of a feat for us to do without some mediator like e-bay. This is a very awesome idea and i would really love to own a bracelet. Hell, even if this goes down the hole i plan on making one and ordering it.

Great Idea, I'd love to see the design, but I was looking into it and I say we just divide it amongst countries. You can by custom wristbands in bulk in multiples of 10 on the site I've looked at (which is theawristocrat.com) so what we could do is have one main buyer for each country. Like one person buy them for their country and then distributed them in regular mailing thus canceling out shipping costs. The only thing we'll need to figure out is payment method, because if it's paypal i'm out cause I don't do paypal, I've done enough online transactions through sites like pbnation where the transaction is usually for $200+ so I'm used to sending money to people I don't know, you just need a form of guarentee.

Hello. I do online sales a lot, probably the easiest way is to set up an eBay store, set up shipping and stuff, then set your price. Make a regular price, perhaps if a member buys them and provides a password, you give them a discount. Just an idea :)

We should have some sort of coupon, like, if you enter the password to the website [to show you're a member] you can get a discount. That way, if someone just buys it without knowing what it's actually for they won't get the discount, just us... Hohoho

I don't mind paying the $8.99 price plus shipping; I noticed that if I change the quantity to 20 it drops it down to a little over three dollars a piece. So they give a bit of a discount... I think either fundraising through paypal or selling them through ebay/etsy would be good. I'm not hard to please.

wow i just read through all 432 comments on deciding how we should distribute this product, price, design,(i think we should make it like the sites log in page, just my opinion) and whether or not we should sell it at certain places. It should be sold to members who help their community and truly represent the dollars. Also selling at cons would not be a good idea because of the fan boy/girl thing. If u don't want a wrist band, don't say anything. Also extra money from this project should got to a charity of some kind because that would be "helping" people. Wristbands should go to members first, others second.

Maybe you could take down the addresses of everyone who wants one and just ship them out that way. I mean, we're all friends here and it's a pretty simple solution. I'd understand why some people would be uncomfortable with giving up their address so maybe a local address, like a school, or see if anyone in the area is willing to pass them out. It'd take a while, but if it's possible to get a list of everyone for each area and figure out who will pass them out it could work. This is kind of an on-the-fly thought but maybe people would be willing to elaborate on it and we can all agree on something. =^.^=

For in-person distribution, knowing members is easy. Just hand out the password. Sure, anyone can go around and say "Baccano," but if it's just the one word, then I'm sure those with bracelets would get the gist of it.

Well, wouldn't members have to get access to print out the sticky material to put on the bracelets? I'd actually love to put the logo on my own bracelet, but I have no idea if everyone would have access to the sticky paper. Let alone if it would last on an all-the-time bracelet. It's a good idea, though. Definitely something to be considered.

I like the design from 213. Simple, and easily recognized. But I do agree with everyone who's said that we sell them in a manner that prevents normal fans from buying them. The weekend was spent trying to steer people back on track. We got a huge increase in new people on saturday.

Hey, sorry if this has been mentioned before, but since a lot of people in certain areas are planning on meeting up eventually, would it be possible for one person to take them to the meeting place, distribute them, everyone gives the money to the person who distributed, and that person sends it back? Because if it's sold online, not only does that sound like a hassle to keep it private, but I feel like a lot of people wouldn't be able to get it. The best way to go is eBay or pay-pal, it just seems the easiest and safe way. I see what people are saying bout handing things or selling them at cons, I love that idea but this dollars group is based around the idea of the Dollars not the show/manga itself. You may not be LIKE the show, as stated in the notoriety topic below, but Dollars are Dollars, no matter how it's sliced. The original SHOW's rules, was there was no rules. Here is an idea.
Go to CafePress.com, and make, if they allow it, wrist bands. The thing with Cafe Press, and it's legit, is it's no cost to you, and you get a cut of the profits. They get some of the initial profits, and that is their payment, and the rest will go to you.
They make it, ship it, and all you do is customize it with what you want. It then places it on the online shop of yours. You can also hide it from anyone you don't wish to view it, I think, so then only Dollar members know of the shop.

Also another idea, is to go to a Local place that creates these things for you, get them cheap, in bulk, and sell them on Craigslist in your area, then everyone who wishes to get involved, can do the same, and sell them on Craigslist. Also they have to Email you, to buy shit, so you can shuffle through who you wish to buy the items. It's all up to you that way. Also, to make sure it's more Dollar Oriented, you can start a topic on here, for 'Passwords of the Day' and every person who states the Password of the Day, or Week, via Email from Craigslist, can be the Buyer, because then they are from here.

A shirt with the image being on the inside of the shirt, only, might work out, though. The shirt being black enough so the design doesn't show through, nor the threads of it showing through, either, would also help if the design is on the inside of it.

How about a Wristband with a design picked out by us later on, but the design is on the inside of it. So when asked if they are in it, they flip it inside out to show them that they are. So then when normally looking, it looks just like a regular wristband.

Been gone for a few days, the joy of finals, but I don't know about Amazon or Hot Topic. The series itself is pretty popular, which is the problem with selling them there. Especially with HT. They'd sell quickly, and there would be a chance that members here wouldn't get them. Unless, somehow, the seller on Amazon had a way to determine who was a Dollar and who was just another rabid fan.

If you're going to do an idea, there are several that I can come up with. A good identity is to have it look like a regular wristband with black and white striping on the inside. If you see another band and are in question, make an obvious signal- start flipping your band inside out, from coloered to black and white to colored again. If they are a member, they'll understand such a signal, and if not, the most they can think is that your bracelet looks "pretty neat".

Either that, or have four different bands- three for identifying reigion and one for identifying username. I know it sounds silly meeting each other in RL, but it's always a possibility.

For example, the first band will always be a specific color depending on region, and will have an inverse design. The other two are for if you live in a specific city/state. For example, the United States:

US: Red

Alabama- Red, Red
Alaska- Red, Orange
Arizona- Red, Yellow
Arkansas- Red, Green
California- Red, Blue
Colorado- Red, Purple
Connecticut- Red, White
Delaware- Orange, Orange
Florida- Orange, Yellow
Georgia- Orange, Green
Hawaii- Orange, Blue
Idaho- Orange, Purple
Illinois- Orange, White
Indiania- Yellow, Yellow
Iowa- Yellow, Green
Kansas- Yellow, Blue
Kentucky- Yellow, Purple


Anyway, you get the picture.

You would never put both of the city/state bracelets on the same wrist- everyone would look the same on that wrist and it would look like a gang sign or something.

The fourth would be either blue or pink, depending on gender or preferred gender, and would be hidden in one's sleev or pulled up one's arm so it didn't dangle, and underneath there would be one's username. This is only shown to others in the event of the other recognizing you.

This is just and idea, and if used, not only would the wristbands be easy to find, but they wouldn't cost as much.

We shouldn't use the Dollar's Password. Any person could get it. Let's select a password, so everyone on here, this site, can get it only. So then not everyone would be able to buy it. Then if you're on here, you can get it, and have it changing every few weeks to a new password. This way, it keeps it so regular members know of it. Us.

We havent commited to an idea because we are dawdlers.

Here's an idea.
Why not create a site with a different username and password than the dollars and post that password and the site link on this thread.
Then make it so that wristbands of different sizes can be distributed accordingly from there, and the person who has created the wristbands could charge say: $5 per wristband with either mail-in or online payment methods.
And then donations can be set up on the site so that the difference can be paid by we the members.
This way only dollars from this site get the wristband.

Pretty sure that was someones idea to say that we're not a color, we're many colors and we stand for many things as a whole. Looking forward to this. I'm tight on money right now, but I definitely don't mind spending a few bucks for a wrist band to show others in my area I'm apart of this group :)

Oooh, one suggestion if it's not too late. Change each of the white digital dots that make up the word dollars to colored ones like in the surrounding circle of the sign up page? Just an idea, I figured it would make it more recognizable to other Dollars members since most people would look at the word Dollars and think "Money, they like money". This is of course if it isn't too late to change the design a smidge :3

We do NOT, I repeat, do NOT have over 80,000 members. That is just a thing that records all IP's that come on the site.
May that be people who are on different computers, or their IP changes every time they access the net, and not to mention the many that come on 1 time and leave. The highest possible amount that we could have, could be a thousand or so, tops.

I'm sorry to bring this up again but, you see, I thought that the dollars' concept of being "colorless" was not being "invisible" yet something like "equality". What I mean is, if X were to sell the wristbands, it:

a) could cost more than paid for its production - but that would destroy the meaning of "nonprofit".
b) could cost less than paid for the production - and that would be really unfair to the one who would be selling, right? Even if it cost the same as paid, it would be just tiring to deal with everything and receive "nothing" from it.

You have also to consider that there are some members that do not live in the USA, or a big country. Some of them could even be the only ones in their country which actually know about this group. So in the end it would not be "fair" at all. Furthermore, I believe you should make it yourself, or order from those websites that make wristbands and stuff... I don't really know. I'm sorry I may sound very stupid.

Oh, by the way, I'd like to read your opinions about hoodies, shirts, etc etc. I know most may answer something like "NO WE ARE S'POSED TO BE INVISIBLE" but, you see, pretty much everyone who watched the DRRR anime know about the dollars. Indeed it is not all of them who know about this website, but what I mean is people would recognize the wristband the same way they would recognize anything else... And the ones who don't know about "the dollars" would still don't know even it was more "visible" than a wristband.
