For something kinda personal, I started thinking about this after a convo in Discord about first crushes:

I don't know if this really qualifies, but I'll say it does, as it was kinda the first time I was really conscious of someone of the opposite sex.
Back when I was really young, maybe in the range of 6 to 10, I don't really remember anymore, there was this blonde girl in my class called Alex.
The only thing I can really remember about her now, is a single thought I had, once, which was "Her lips are really red". That's the only concrete thought I can recall. I don't know if I wandered about what it would be like to kiss her, or if I was just appreciating it aesthetically, but that's what me as a kid thought once.

Also, my youngest sister got a ukulele for her birthday and she let me use it for a bit. Definitely much easier for me to play since my fingers can actually reach all the strings needed in the chords. Maybe I'll get one for myself someday.

Hawaii, or well, Honolulu at least, has suburban architecture that is heavily influenced by Japanese styles, yet there are very few houses actually built in a traditional Japanese fashion.
What leads me to say this are the low slanted roofs in all 4 directions with large overhangs that I've seen on the majority of houses here.
Something else that I also saw on a lot of houses are how they were built on stilts. I wonder if this is a legacy from older days where people were worried about large tides from the ocean.

I only saw a single house built in a traditional Japanese style.

OneShot is a great game. As much as I love it, I doubt I'll ever run it again. At least not on this computer.

Starting to question my life choices, some said I should follow my passion. Another told me I should get a stable job before following my passion as a hobby. And it's kinda true when I think about it. My father is a policeman, his hobby includes joining Triathlon which has a pretty expensive budget for a hobby. At least he got a stable income, so no biggie for that.

Next week is the start of my third year high school, the last year. Time sure flies, I've been here for (almost/around?) three years now.

I'm part of a fan zine team and the final submission date was today, but I had to get my contributions done a bit early since my boyfriend is visiting for a couple days! I really only had to do one, but I had other ideas I wanted to do, so I pushed myself to it! Plus, I was an invited artist, so I just felt like I should have done more than those who had to apply to be on the team. They all turned out great though. I'm really proud of my work.

Last I heard, the mods were still discussing whether or not contributors can even show previews of our work yet. It depends on their decision. I think that maybe I'll put them on the thread once pre-orders and whatnot are done, but it'll be a while until that happens.

My sisters go back to school in a few days (both in high school now!) and I still have more than a month until I go back. :( It's weird though that I've only got two years left. The first two went by so fast.
I've also decided not to get a math minor like I was thinking about doing cause I can only find one higher level math class I'm interested in, but I would need two. Oh well. My major is all I really need.

I think I know where I'm going in life and I don't know how to feel about it. I never knew what I wanted to do with my life before, but now the picture is technically becoming clearer. I now sort of know how the decisions I made when I was younger lead to where I'm at today. There are some decisions I wish I could take back, and there are some decisions I wish I made differently. If only I had been more informed back then. Either way, I think I know where I'm headed now. I've always been sort of indecisive growing up, but even then I made decisions. Being indecisive has lead to a very much mundane life with not much excitement. I never took any big risks and I always tried playing it safe. I'm contemplating changing that. I've been making some decisions lately almost the opposite of how I normally would. Younger me would basically hate who I am becoming, and I don't know how to feel about that, but either way, I'm gonna change... My future's gonna be a bit more interesting and I'm getting kind of excited for it!

It's not that weird. 'we' gives you more self-confidence and have more persuasive power compared to 'I' since it gives the impression of group backing (safety in numbers).

Yeah, I am American, so 21 is the legal age for me. I personally think it's dumb that I can buy cigarettes, but not alcohol, but oh well, that's the law.
I only ever have one drink at a time anyways. Being drunk does not appeal to me that much. If I do it responsibly, then it's fine. I'm less than a year off, so it's not too big of a deal.

The reason why it is restricted to 21+ is because of how alcohol affects brain development. When you're in your late teens your brain is still growing and developing and alcohol will hinder that growth. You are supposed to wait until you're 21 because that's around the average time that brains stop developing.

As an American, I can agree with this. The uncooked ingredient has always been called noodles. But I've never called a fully cooked dish noodles (with a few exceptions) nor do I know anybody that does. At that point, we refer to it as pasta. Noodles are noodles, and pasta is pasta even in their raw form. The distinction should be made on the raw ingredient, not the type of dish it's cooked into.

Made a video reviewing water tap around the school area, everyone liked it I guess. At one point, someone even asked if I have any plan to make more video about the water tap on the kitchen. Another time, they asked if I could talk about other things such as chairs and power plug.

I had a breakdown last night, and got to the point of crying, fidgeting around singing my favorite album to cope with how lonely I was. I have no IRL friends to go hang out with. I think if I were to write a story like this, I would do it from a first-person perspective of Rayray. This is because, from what I've read, is a story of RR's mad romp into a crazy shitfest, so instead of a clunky omniscient perspective tell us what he feels, you could use more abstract or physical means to imply what he's feeling (such as sweating for nervousness, shaking for fear, feeling weightless for anxiety etc.)

Another thing I'd do would be to throw in more descriptions of the locale to build upon the atmosphere of Sunset City. I assume that it's weird, so you'd have descriptions from RR's PoV in which he thinks is completely normal, but to us is really out there.

I'm talking about those two points as they kind of address what I feel is your main issue in your writing, everything feels very shallow.
The actions of the characters feel like caricatures of archetypes that we are supposed to have known of beforehand. Which works out sometimes when we do know of them, but in others it just makes the character feel hollow, and that they're merely a plot device that you shoved in to move the story forward to the next pit stop.

That said, use thought-provoking prose, choose better names, and proofread.

Something I've inherited from my parents is the need to constantly aim for something better. Kinda annoying at times, when it's just at the back of my head.

I'm reading this rather mediocre serial on RoyalRoad right now. The only reason I'm bringing this up here at all, actually, the reason I'm reading it at all, is because I find it a novelty.

This story is in the format of a diary entry, a type of story that I've been wanting to read for a long time. The novelty behind this though, is that the author uploads the chapters in real-time for the fiction. While that means he/she only updates a few hundred words every day, it also gives me a palpable feeling that the world is actually real. It made me kind of worried about the battles that the MC would go through, 'cause if he died, I'd have no more story and the slow wait between the updates would just leave me in limbo.

As far as we knew, there's no rule stating that the basement landing can't move, and removing it removed all doors on that floor, so we decided on a fun rule that will never come up again.

What we did was move the basement to another floor. (The upper floor, in this case.) Then, we got some poker chips we have and marked any room we placed that has basement on the back with a black chip, upper with white, and both with red. You could only place a room down based on what color you came from. White > upper, black > basement, red > either. Caused quite the wonky layout, but it was fun.

Okay listen up people, I got a story to tell. Lately, my laptop is frequently borrowed by some fellow acquaintance to do some useful things that even I haven't been able to do. This C guy used it to edit some footage of my school activity. Then there is T fella that used it to design some clothes, that will later be printed to some clothes and sell it to get some budget for our Year Book. At least you guys knew at this point, that their works are saved in my laptop.

A week ago, another person borrowed it from me. He said that he'll just use it in class, probably slipped to Youtube while the teachers weren't looking, no biggie. He borrowed it again a few days later, and it escalates to yesterday.

The evening, he used it in the dormitory and brought it to his room. Probably to listen to music, and I should've had a peek because that will be the last time I saw or should I say listen the laptop worked in perfect condition.

Amidst my calm and pretty nice evening, someone came back and brought my laptop back. He probably said 'I were asked to give this back to you.' or something along the lines of it. I was cool most of the time, like 'Okay then, put it on my bed. I'll clean it up later.'

So I left it there, but the screen was actually still up and at the time I was on my bed. But it was actually facing away from me, and I didn't want to look at it for some reason. So what actually happen is that my roommates could see what is up on it except me.

A few minutes later, I heard some kind of beep or sound from my laptop. So I finally turned it to my face, and its the blue screen. I was like, 'This happened before, I'll just turn it off and the next time I turn it on, it will be back to normal.' Boy, I didn't know I've been listed in for a roller coaster of emotion.

The damage is coming, and the one to get most impact is my friends that used it to save their work.

The hypothesis as of right now, it fell of the table. Or data corruption.

Speaking of university, I'm kinda excited for this semester. I'm really getting into the core of my degree now. Plus, I signed up for an elective, exploring film, because my boyfriend needed it for his minor and this is the only class we'd ever have together. One of my good friends is apparently in the class too, so that'll be fun.

I should have chronicled this when I woke up and remembered every second of the dream, rather than now that I'm going to sleep, but here we go.

So I was in some school that I can't remember at all and we were leaving on a multi-day trip that day. It was to some fancy place I can't remember to see the eclipse and mingle with a bunch of important people.

The world had magic. Its mana was split into a ton of different types, all of which had an opposite. Air > Earth. Water > Fire. Life > Death. Etc.. Strangely, while there *was* both Light and Dark mana, they weren't opposites. I don't remember the opposite of Light, and I only remember that the opposite of Dark started with L.

Anyway, as we were at the place, the eclipse finally started. It's also when everything decided to go down hill. One of the factions that attended the place decided to kill everyone. (Long in advance, of course.)

Some weird flesh creatures started appearing. There was one that looked like a worm with legs that was oddly cute and friendly and they came along for the ride.

Eventually, the killer dudes got to me and a few seconds after dying, I woke up in bed in the morning of leaving for the trip. I thought I'd just had a dream about the future and ignored it.

Then it happened again. I died and I woke up. This time, I started preparing for the attack. Over the next few loops, I learned how to cast spells and stumbled across a specific combination of mana that created the Rageblade from League.

About 8(?) loops in, some other guy from my class also starts looping with me. 2 loops later, the whole class is along for the ride and 9 loops after *that*, we succeed in stopping the killers.

Then we loop, anyway. We repeat what we did, win, and loop again. Then we all get ready like normal and go to the place, except this time, the whole place is a lot less fancy and the killing faction is a lot smaller.

We're confused, but when the eclipse starts, the killers try again, but this time, it's a *lot* less effective. We barely had to intervene to stop it. We started discussing what was going on and got a bunch of theories that could be what happened, but we never found out because I woke up permanently.

That dream lasted at least 7 hours, if not more than 9. I woke up at ~10:40 PM right after waking up after the first loop and was still dreaming about it when I woke up at 5:30 or 7:30 AM.

Now that I think about it, I probably have an unhealthy view of my own body, probably stemming from when I was a child.

My brother used to be fat. Like 'that chubby asian kid' type of fat, and I used to make fun of him for it. Still do, rarely, since I live in Aus now.
Since then, something that came to mind was how I didn't want to be that fat, which I admittedly was pretty chubby. I grew tall, and fittingly, grew thin. Like 60 kg 160 cm to 60 kg 180 cm.

I never really noticed that I got thinner, until I started weighing myself. I still have a fixation on not being fat though, so I dislike any fat on my body at all. :\

It's probably a part of why I'm fine with eating so little like I currently am.

So this morning our clock is messing up with us, I woke up at '5:20' and saw that the sky is already so bright. "Wait, it can't be." So I kept thinking, and finally decided to take bath 'early' and it seems like it. There aren't much people on the bathroom at this time, when the sky is already so bright. It's '5:30' after all, if you could get bath done in 6:30 why must you do it now. I did it though, but 5 minutes in and the bathroom became crowded. Must be the damn clock, I thought about it.

Heading back to my dorms in a few days. It is amazing what a different quality in friends I have in college compared to those I still keep in touch with from high school. I had a really shitty blow-up with one of the girls in "my group" and so I'm not even really sure if I'm going to have any sort of social life (in the context of going out to the mall, eateries, etc. in a group) heading into my second-year. I've learned to deal with being on my own this past school year, and it's done wonders for my self-esteem, but I'm still that socially inept, anxious, girl and sometimes it sucks not having anyone there for you. And I know my high school friends are just a video chat away, but it feels weird to be--or at the very least FEEL--alone on a college campus.

It just sucks because the only reason this person blew up at me was because I wouldn't give them any information on a part of my life that only a few of my friends know about. She called me ridiculous for politely asking to not talk about something that was private. Like? Really? Of all things, this is the hill my social life is going to die on? A lot of people in my dorm won't talk to me because I'm conservative, and fine, understandable on a very liberal campus, but me not wanting to talk about something personal? Really? That's what's going to ostracize me? Kind of stupid...

Ever since a few years ago, I've kind of managed to tread a fine line of maintaining my introversion and social interactions, by kind of flitting through different social circles in high school. Now that I'm in uni, I just let my interests lead me to different groups of people that I hang out with, every now and then.

It kinda sucks that your closest group of friends might shut you off for something like that. My only advice is to get an intermediary (who also doesn't know but understands) to help explain to them that what they asked was a deeply personal manner. Could be shit advice, I don't know. I've never had social interactions like that before.

Do you have caffeine a lot? Back when I was diagnosed with chronic migraine, my doctor suggested cutting out caffeine because for some people, it can be a trigger while for others it can help. I rarely ever have caffeine now and I probably only get a migraine once a month instead of every other day like I used to.
Migraines are still kind of a mystery to doctors so usually their solution is "painkillers and lifestyle changes" and if that doesn't work, you're kinda out of luck. :/

Ugh. Operating systems exam was bad. And I didn't even get to finish my stats exam cause I ran out of time. I must be real dumb to run out of time even having extra time. Hmm, you know, I really like how animals are designed, with breathing and your beating heart being muscles which are unconsciously controlled for the most part, but of those, the only one we can manually control is the breathing. I understand the design behind it, as it would be impractical to leave such a large percentage of our body's volume to be completely involuntary, but at the same time, it's also hilarious how it feels that our body doesn't trust the human mind enough to regulate our own heart beats.

I guess the heart is just that important of an engine.

Something I want to do in the future, now that I'm on an educational pathway for it, is to build a whole replacement body for a human. Like, the Theseus Paradox, but with functioning prosthetics.

I know this is functionally impossible, from the replacement of complex nerve signals, to the fact that I'm thinking of something completely modular in design. It would take many, many years in technological advancements in biochemsitry, biology, applied physiology, and miniaturised robotics for this to be a thing.
But at the same time, the more I think about the human body, the more I think about how intricate the design of everything is, and if it'd be viable to replace the groups micro-organism that share a single purpose, tissues, with larger equivalents. Like, could we replace muscles with hydraulic pistons? Or would electronically powered ones work better? How about skin? What type of polyester would be used that would both be soft and repel water? Would it need to be able to expel heat efficiently while not letting any inside?

I think about this, not a lot, but a bit.

This gets me thinking about how automatic balancing systems would work in robotics. I'm not too sure how that would work. It's a pretty big issue when it comes to robotics, since the time it takes to measure, calculate, calibrate, reposition, etc as fast as a human does.
Having something in your ear like a human does doesn't really seem efficient, but it does give an advantage in that it's positioned close to the top of the human body, so torque would be near the greatest. It also gives a level of redundancy due to having two of them. But maybe having gyroscopes in the extremities as well would be better? Redundancy vs efficiency is an issue I can wrap my head around, but also really loosely.

Last week, I had my first 'smut dream'. Kinda vague, and I'm sure you guys don't wanna hear it so I'll leave it there. I'm a grown man already!

Yesterday, I went to a concert held in my old friend's high school. Shame, my mother pulled me home before the main show begins. There's a bit of interesting story here though.

She introduced me to her friends, which I soon forget the names because I really be like that as an introvert. Then the first show started, it was nice. I wouldn't forget that part for quite some time, it really be poking my heart a bit.

Then they rest a bit, so we tried to find a place to sit down. No place left to sit, so everyone is sitting on the floor. I shit you not, the sun is so hot that the floor kept being hot 3 hours after sunset.

So now, my friend with hers and me sat down on the still warm floor. They sometimes ramble about the fact that I'm 'a shota' (dammit why did I said that) and they don't meet a lot of people that fits the criteria of physically looks like shota. Damn girls, can't blame them though.

So in the middle of the field, there's a flagpole and the stone floor which no one were allowed to step their feet on. As a precautions measure, they put a thin wooden wall around it. But the committee must be some incompetent prick that didn't do the wall properly. Of course, the wall fell through.

My friend as the few that have the right to step on the stone desperately waiting and trying to fix that wall problem. Where is the committee members at this time around, they went to watch the concert while one of their senior is covering their asses.

I asked her friend which right at the time was sitting next to me, how bad can it get. She said that the alumni must be watching, because this is a public show. Every students will get their part, just for that wall. They fixed it after 15 minutes, but the damage had been done. My friend finally sat back next to us, jokingly said that the concert was so loud that the wall fell through, went mad on the chat groups, then brushing it off as quick because the night is still a long way.

Sometimes after that and I'm starting to get bored, I did what I usually do. Bumping threads on main, yea boi. My friend called out to her friend that I'm in Dollars. So I showed my phone, and she said she just played drrr.com and even not that regular on conversing.

"...I'm not like Firion, that guy is on a whole differently level already." she said.

I shit you not, my hands are visibly shaken, but they did not notice. So she opened drrr.com and in turn I opened mine as well. I gave a peek to my phone, and they peeked. She looked me dead in the eye, then back to my screen, focused on the tripcode around ten seconds, before looking back at me.

So I show captain for my school's movie theater, which means I'm like in charge of the show lol (I gotta check in w/ the projectionist, set up money and deposit it, input info, etc.) and the projector guy always loves explaining the stuff that goes into HIS job when I go up there even tho it has nothing to do with me, and he asked me today if I wanted to AP (Apprentice Projectionist) andndndnnndd I am highly considering this. Like. That's an actual skill b/c I'm convinced my major isn't gonna get me far in the actual job market, so having a legitimate skill that can be applied at any other movie theater would. I'm just so fucking clumsy, you know. Like I would actually shit my pants and cry if I threaded some 16mm film and I like messed it up and the movie fucked up and I ruined everyone's experience.

I'd honestly think with how tiny of a person I am, I would get drunk real fast. But after two shots of whiskey, my head spun a little bit then I felt absolutely fine, like... not even tipsy. Meanwhile, my roommate was definitely tipsy and the other one was questionably tipsy, both after the same amount.
I have yet to find out how much it takes to get me drunk.

Might specifically make it an every other day thing to avoid burnout, might just write whenever I feel like. Probably the latter.

So the end point of >>356 is that the next night, I overworked myself till the dawn peeks at me. Some file I hadn't exported was corrupted, so that's the first struggle I encountered. Auto-save is indeed my savior. Then comes the next obstacle, I still has 3 of those raw footage. That takes time also, until the first ray of sunshine peeked through the window I still haven't finished all the footage I need to edit. And then through daily ceremony, it's not worth the time wasted and failed miserably.

I've been thinking about something lately. When did I become who I am today, because I was so self-less back then. It might sound exaggerated, but my insides felt different when faced with a similar situation I've encountered in middle school. It felt different when I am left out from the group, I was able to just brush it off back then. That's it I guess.

Onto the next major event, tomorrow we're having the end-of-semester exam. We'll be using computers to do them, that will certainly be a new experience.

Some late night ago, a thought came to me.

"Damn, I wanna play Minecraft."

So I turned to Play Store and literally bought Minecraft. Still kinda regrets it though, the money I spent should've been used to buy an upcoming waifu skin.

Been wanting to make my own laser tag system for a long while and just went through all the parts I'll need to make a very basic prototype (no gun shells) and it's $252.62(2,) without tax or shipping, and also it doesn't fully get everything, because it doesn't include a way to accurately get the rough size of the person holding the gun, which I haven't fully figured out yet.

The hardest part will probably be figuring out person size (since I don't want to just wear a vest because sweat and uncomfortable,) then probably custom building an indoor positioning system, then implementing the person size thing. If all else fails, I can just have a default size based on gun height, but then it might get too small for getting down low. Maybe have it calibrate based on average height or something.

And, it's only really laser tag in the sense that there will be a laser that points out the end. The laser doesn't do anything, just shows the user where they're pointing, as it'll be location (hence the IPS) and rotation based to determine if the person got shot or not. This will allow the enabling of wallbangs (determined if on or off by the staff running the laser tag itself,) including different material properties, like wood that's easy to shoot through, or cinder blocks that require more powerful guns, thick metal that makes it impervious, etc..

It will require a bit more setup, since you'd need to take the time to map out the location to include in the system so it knows where walls and floors are, but maybe I can make a mapping tool so you don't have to manually map everything or something, though it would require a 3D pseudo-painting program to paint out materials (which you'd be able to custom set, use presets, or just set everything as invulnerable) onto the walls and floors. I'll probably make a very, very basic modeling tool that just makes boxes and arches that you can place wherever, whether or not I make a mapping tool.

It'll include options to have user profiles (if the company wants to offer them to players) that would keep track of win/loss record, shot on-target percentage, average/max/min points per game, and pretty much any metric I can think of, with the option to print those if the company allows the players to print them. But the main reason for a player profile is to allow them to customize their gun. Not the physical gun, just how it functions. Players without player profiles would be allowed to use it, as well, but those with one would be able to save it for later use, rather than having to set it every game.

Each gun would be able to have different settings, like a sniper that is very powerful and accurate over any distance, but only 10 bullets per clip and slow firing rate (though, fire rate might not be a restriction on raw fire speed, but rather shooting faster than the fire rate causes small self-damage and/or high accuracy penalty, stacking each time you fire faster than the firing rate since people would hate to be locked out of firing after every shot, even if it's only for half a second;) a machine gun with high clip size, low accuracy, and low power; a pistol with low clip size (10,) "as fast as you can pull the trigger" firing rate, low power, and near-instant reload speed; or a shotgun that needs to be reloaded after every shot, but kills anything that is in a direction and within a certain distance, but only does a small amount of damage the further out you get from it.

And then near-copy the Darklight system's GEMs, which are basically powerups, but remove the fact that they give points (as, at worth any number of points, the best strategy in a Darklight system laser tag game is to get enough kills to get the Dark Thief powerup, kill ~10 other people, then sit at any gem and spend the 200 credits you just got getting effectively free points.) There'd be rapid fire, which makes everything a machine gun, mega power, which enables wallbangs on all walls (even when walls are set to invulnerable) and makes each shot that does at least 50% damage an insta-kill (to prevent shotguns from being "get mega power and kill everyone in a direction,") and probably others. The invisible powerup in Darklight is useless. Dark Thief is OP, though only really because GEMs give points. Dark Thief could definitely be balanced. Make it only, say, steal 5 points, rather than 5-20% (which is random) of the target's credits.

Then there's anti-stalking. Make it so, if you shoot the same person within X% of the number of players in the game (so, with 30 players, shooting them without shooting 3 other people first) makes you get 5 less points and them lose 2 less points, which increases to 15 and 6, then the shooter loses 5 points and the person who got shot gains 2 points, and so on, increasing the reduction in points the shooter gains by 5 each time (so, rather than 5/10/15 less, it's 5/15[5+10]/30[15+15]) and increasing the reduction in points the one getting shot loses by 2 each time. This would technically make the best option for winning to be to have a friend on an enemy team shoot you for the entire game, so maybe don't have the one that gets shot gain points, but keep the shooter losing points part.

And there's be an option to shoot a grenade. Maybe you only have a set amount of them per game, maybe have them on a super long cooldown (like a full minute or two.) It'd basically choose a point you shoot and kill anyone within a certain distance and line of sight of that point (including yourself) after some delay. Definitely give a heads up on the gun display of everyone who's in range of the grenade that they're going to be blown up by a grenade in 2 seconds.

So Google sent me a mini nest for free which is nice. It's like an early christmas present for myself.

Also, for the anti-stalking, it could be that you gain points if you get shot by the same guy a lot, but only if they still have points to give (so, aren't at zero or negative.) This could still lead to point donation, but it would only be 40% of the enemy's points, rather than infinite, so they'd've had to have been doing well before it started, rather than just starting from the start of the game, basically turning one guy and one enemy into 1.4 guys. I think that's probably still ok, since they'd have to start early enough to actually donate everything, but late enough that they don't lose by not spending enough time shooting people.

I've been up since 1am (it's almost 10am now).

I'm excited to get my Christmas gift. My mom and sister got me a new bed which is actually a foldable bedroll type thing that you lay out on the floor. I'm hoping it'll help with the back ache I've been having which I blame solely on my current bed. I've had my current bed for almost ten years so I know that it's ready for the curb.
I'm also curious to see if everyone will like the gifts I got for them...

At $5 per person per game, excluding getting employees for it, and excluding selling food and drink, it would take 4616 full games of 52 (assuming my ideal setup for everything) players to pay it off, which, running only on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to midnight with 2 20 minute games an hour, would equate to 97 weeks, or a little over 1.86 years to pay off. Assuming a more realistic load of ~20 players per game, 12000 games, 250 weeks, a little under 4.8 years before any profits are made. Not counting interest.

Anyway, the niche problem. It's too expensive for a home system, as those are only ~$150 from a 2 second google, and Darklight already fills the niche for large laser tag establishment systems, at least for good ones. I'm sure there are others that exist, but Darklight is what the nearby place uses. The Darklight system is great and probably good enough for most people, but I want for a slightly more gamey experience, as well as customizability for the establishments running the thing, as well as players, if the establishments allow for the ability for players to pick their own gun type. Not that there's much wrong with Darklight. There kinda is in that GEMs give any number of points (as anything above zero is too much, as it becomes best strategy to get Dark Thief, shoot 5-10 people, and sit at a GEM and get 1500+ free points in a game where the second highest scorer had ~1200 at the end. This could also be solved by just removing Dark Thief, but still, GEMs giving points is too OP, even excluding Dark Thief, because they're literally free. Shoot 5 people, shoot a GEM for free points and a powerup, and repeat.)

My system will be competing with Darklight, and I think the only things going for it would be the fact you can enable wallbangs, multiple gun types, customizable powerups, much less bulky (2 arm bands vs an entire vest,) and (hopefully) more durable guns, as Darklight guns tend to get out of wack in one way or another after a few games (no estimates from me because we go like once a year nowadays, rather than once a month like the days of old.)

As for job, my job is to exist and hope my parents get enough money to live off the interest of, at least until I maybe make a successful laser tag system. Then it'll be working the bugs out of and improving it as I sell it. Probably installing it, as well, as people would probably not want to go through the effort of setting up the internal map and all the other stuff, as it's also less "plug and play" than Darklight (though by how much is unknown,) which is another negative toward it being a thing a family buys.

I'm not even sure if my price will be competitive with Darklight, as they don't give prices unless you directly contact them, and no thanks. Not talking with someone to figure that out.

What will probably end up happening is I sell the IPS that will need to be developed to get the lasertag system up and running as a separate thing from the laser tag itself, as the Pozyx system (first result for "buy indoor positioning system") costs $150 per tag (the thing used on items to track) and also $150 per anchor (what I've been calling detectors.) To get full x/y/z positioning for a single thing, that'd cost $750 (4 anchors, 1 tag.) Same thing would cost ~$190 from me, assuming I can get it to work and don't add on any money for developement of the thing, and also because I'd be selling it for a profit (which I will, so assume closer to ~$400.)

Honestly, I should just sell the IPS. More uses and competitively priced right from the get go. Add on the laser tag because it's a passion project.

I don't like mentioning being trans because I really don't want that to be my defining feature, but I'm way too happy to not share news. I'm basically all set to get started with hormone replacement therapy! Once the blood test results get back and confirm that there's nothing currently wrong that could be made worse, I can go back and get my first dose of testosterone. I'm really excited! I know it'll take months for there to be any visible effects, but I'm glad I'll be able to start feeling more like myself.

I wonder why I like Goodbye to a World so much when I'm happy, but hate it when sad. And love Monody when sad (and often require listening to it at least once to not be sad,) but "only" like it when happy.

It has been... shit, over half a year since I last posted here?

I graduated in December. Now I’m playing the damn waiting game again with doctoral programs. I had considered applying to some places in Canada this go around, but the logistics and financial finagling it would require compared to studying domestically just weren’t worth it.

My job sucks now more than ever. Our volume has increased, but corporate has decreased hours for pharmacy technicians and pharmacists alike. On top of that, several good people (and friends) have jumped ship recently, and the new help is just not enough to compensate for the holes they left.
The way I see it, if I don’t get in to a doctoral program this go around, I’ll leave this shitshow of a job as soon as possible, probably to the same place a couple of my buds have jumped over to. While there, I’d keep looking for work that would actually allow me to capitalize on my degrees. If I can’t get into their place of work, then I’ll lean on my former boss (he jumped ship to work at the University of Kentucky’s hospital in Lexington) as either a source of employment or at the very least a contact to find such a source.
The only downside to getting into a program would be the fact that it wouldn’t make much sense to get a different job elsewhere, since I’d only be there for a few months before I’d need to leave for the program. The way I see it, if I get into a program, I’m sticking around until June at the very latest (gotta pay pay those student loans, after all. God bless America!). If I don’t, I’m bouncing the first chance I get.

TL;DR: Work sucks, waiting sucks, but I got a plan.

Pokemon community is so divided right now, oof.
Personally? I'm not a fan of Sword and Shield getting DLC. A lot of people argue that it's better than having an entirely separate game that adds on more story, like they did with Sun & Moon and Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon.
I disagree with that, only because at least with prior games, I could just hold out and wait for their inevitable third version (or Ultra versions) and not get the original version. Same price, just a longer wait, which is worth it. And if they don't end up with a third version, like with X and Y, I can just get one of those.
However, I can't do that with Sword and Shield now. Now in order to get the full game, I would have to pay extra. Which I'm not happy about. At least since I wait for the third version, I have not yet purchased Sword or Shield. So I just won't buy either at this point. It's not worth it if I'm not getting the full game at base price.

But really, if you were foolish enough to buy Sun or Moon and then ALSO buy USUM expecting there to be much of a difference based on past games, I think that's on you. In my opinion, the first two versions are shorter and easier because they're meant for children. The third version is longer and a bit more difficult, because THAT'S the one meant for the adult fans.
For example, I had Pearl at its release (so I was about 7? 8?) and it was at a good difficulty level for me and I feel in love with Pokemon at that point. My Pearl game got stolen though, so when Platinum came out, my parents bought it for me to replace Pearl. The difficulty was upped enough that me, a child, got really frustrated with it. Replaying it now as an adult is not as difficult (and also very nostalgic). And that's what made me realize that there's a possibility that that kind of stuff was done on purpose, but not really publicized as such.

It's also kinda interesting in the SM and USUM case. (Spoilers ahead, I guess?) My younger siblings don't have the Ultra versions, only I do. But when my younger sister reached the climax of her Moon game, the interaction with Lillie and Lusamine was very different than what I saw in my Ultra Moon game. In Moon, Lillie basically goes off on her mom that the way she had treated her and Gladion was cruel and wrong and that she is her own person, not a toy for Lusamine to play with. To me, that could teach kids that some parents aren't always right and that kids are allowed to be their own person. In Ultra Moon, however, Lillie acknowledged that Lusamine was wrong in what she did, but also sought out to reconcile with her and repair their relationship the best they could. This is a very mature way to deal with the situation (especially since Lillie is the youngest of the main characters, like 9 or 10), but is probably meant for adult players to reflect on their own relationship with their parents.
The messages from the climax of the game are very different and I don't wanna give Game Freak too much credit, but if it was intentional to be done that way, it was brilliant. And it further shows the idea that the originals are meant for the children while the "remakes" are for adult fans.

Looking for a way to join the groupme I was a part of around 2015 and a random memory from this site just popped up. Imo villian/antihero movies should be rated R so there can be plenty of gore and fight scenes and such, but Sony will prolly make this PG-13 like Venom and it'll be lame.

It dawned on me recently that leaving my job without something else already lined up is a bad idea. I mean, on paper, I do. A buddy of mine from work who left in December says his new boss is always looking for new help. The environment there is purportedly less stressful, and the pay is about 50% better than what I currently earn. However, if I suspect I’ll be doing grad school interviews in February, its probably not a good look to take time off immediately upon accepting a new job.
All this together means I need to stay where I’m at until the end of February at the very latest. If I actually don’t get any interviews (I haven’t yet) by mid-February, I’ll apply to this other place around then. At least I already have my letter of two weeks notice ready to go. I’ve also got my availability at my current work revised to allow for any grad school interviews.

TL;DR: Shit still sucks, but I still got a plan.

Also just recently got turned down by Ole Miss. If I had to get rejected by anyone, I’m glad it was them. I probably would’ve gotten bored in such a small place as Oxford, Mississippi, and I don’t really like the idea of winding up in the Deep South for multiple reasons.

I have to turn in 4 assignments by tomorrow and I haven't even started one of them. I know I should do them but for some reason I don't really care about it compared to the book I'm currently reading. Huh, I'm really lazy.

In other news, I just started HRT yesterday. Gave myself my first testosterone injection. Won't notice any majors changes until I'm about 3 months on it though.

I finally sat down and watched Skam. It's been on my radar ever since I watched a cute video of gay panic compilations about a month or so ago and I found myself thoroughly enjoying it. I was obviously only watching for season 3 where and Isak and Even are the main characters, but I also watched all of season 1 and part of season 2 (I thought about just watching s3, but other people online were suggesting that s1 shoud be watched because it builds up the characters and the plot even if the seasons are all mostly standalone).
I stayed up till 4am binge watching because it was so good. I'm glad I have the day off today so I don't have to worry about being tired lol. I'm debating whether or not to rewatch a couple episodes already or to take a nap. I also need to do my homework.

I spent the day watching Skam France s3. It was pretty similar to Skam s3, had the same overall plot, but was just different enough to be worth watching. I was gonna watch Skam France s1, but it was literally copy paste of Skam s1 so I only watched a few episodes before skipping ahead. From what I've read on the internet Skam France is the best spinoff of Skam and considering it is on s6 which is farther than even Skam got and any of the other spinoffs so far I believe.
It's too bad that Skam Austin is done by Facebook. If Netflix or Amazon had done it I would watch, but Facebook is such garbage. I think they got cancelled after two seasons anyway? If they make a season 3 I might considering watching. Izak and Even's story set in a bible belt state would make an interesting setting, but I don't trust Facebook to write a decent plot so...

It is much more serious in China where there is already issues with the air, so having this virus amplifies a big host of issues. So it's understandable that it's hitting China really hard, because it's not just the virus affecting people, it's also the quality of the air. Bad air + respiratory infection = a real bad time. Even then, people in China have already recovered from it after contacting the virus. And from what I understand, it's only deadly if it becomes pneumonia rather than just normal cold symptoms.
Also, that's the same way a common cold spreads, but we hardly ever see people in a panic about that. The common cold can also become pneumonia, but again, where's the panic when cold season comes around?
I guess I should have specified that I don't know why Americans are freaking out, my bad. We'll be fine here, as long as you're generally healthy. Especially since we only have 5 reported cases of it so far. One of which is in Arizona, the state I live in, so I did my research to see what precautions I should take. And what I found? It's the exact same stuff to do with the common cold.

Today I presented my research article, was nervous as heck. People before me told the tales where my teacher asks about the 'plothole' questions that were on their paper. Thinking about friends in general:

You know how sometimes you don't really "know" your friends? As in, you don't know what they're like outside of when you're in the same social circle as them?
I wonder if that train of thought can apply to one-self. Like, how much do you actually know yourself? Obviously, you can remember how you're like, your personal troubles, and what faces you wear in the social circles you're in, but if you cloned yourself, how confidently would you be able to say "I know that person"?

I feel like sites like this, but even more abandoned, where you can post in things without bringing attention to the fact (sages in this case) could be somewhat effectively used for illegal stuff. I don't know when I started, but... starting from a period of time way back, I don't think I've ever really wanted something that would be impossible for me to get. There was always this part of me saying "Don't bother wanting this, you can't get it. Care about other things."
I find it pretty weird now, you know, when I'm old enough to have introspection. But damn it's made a lot of things easy for me when asking for presents. I just don't.

Fever strikes, but everyone sees me as skipping classes in a jokingly manner. Describing me as the next big skipper, even more so than the skipping fellas before me. I mean they've skipped from time to time, but they never did it twice in a row. Such case didn't apply for me. Sleeping all day would've been nice, but instead I got this fever that made everything felt bad.

I did however skipped in friday because my left eye 'grew' and that made me lazy to wake up. I mean the left eye is all flooding while the right eye had a water outage, how am I supposed to feel about that. Nonetheless, teachers believed that I was sick enough to not attend classes. At least, that's how I felt for the first three hour on bed. The rest felt like boredom materialized until school is over, I could only opened my phone all day and school workers would occasionally checked how I was doing. Of course, still need to hide the fact that I'm using the phone. And I guess at the time, someone cursed to me so that I could fell sick for real. Which then someone liked the idea and grant his wish, damn it.

Right, onto the faucet thing. Imma sabotage Hypela's claim just on this single post.

We were tasked to write a scientific paper, and were given the freedom to come up with our very own topic. The final game is to actually present the research we had conducted and wrote, so Powerpoint is also a vital part to our score.

Everyone seemed to pick normal problems encountered in daily life, one picked a difficult topic about the flaws of education curriculum. And everyone could see that he is passionate about it, I mean he started working a month earlier than every each one of us.

Then comes the moment of realization, time is running out quick and I haven't even picked on a topic. Here's where it gets interesting, because I made a 'video' about faucet scattered around the school ground last year. I distinctly remember that the video contains a recommendation of faucet in the praying room, which then broke after a few months the video is uploaded. I also remembered talking about 'conducting a research on the best criteria of faucet to be used' around the school area, but everyone knew I was joking about it. Comes the turning point, what if I stop making it a joke and literally conduct a research about the best criteria of faucets.

So for two days, I stand by the faucet section just by the side of praying room and wrote which faucet does each visitor's using to cleanse themselves before praying. I did this three times a day, that's a total of 6 observation session already. More and more people realized that I just stand there, writing on a paper instead of cleansing myself to pray. I would just replied with "Yes, after this one." when they ask.

On the third day, I submitted the 'sequel' of my faucet video on the school's journalistic Instagram account. I asked the teacher that I need the video up as soon as possible, and he is being cooperative. Of course, he also liked my video. Mind you, I worked on that video solely for the task paper. Five days overworking on that clip, in the midst of other practical exam and I made it.

Then I observed again for two more days, still three times a day. But now, it is assumed that people had watched the faucet clip recommending the best faucet on the block. And hey, the clip actually worked! The percentage usage on the recommended faucet is rising up higher than the data gathered before that clip is uploaded.

So at this point, the data is complete. Three days before the actual day of presenting our research, and I only just got the topic and data. That time on >>552 I talked about landing myself to bed felt like bliss, I worked on the rest of the paper those few nights.

Then comes the day of presenting, I got the second session on 10 AM. I wasn't sleeping that night, I did take an accidental nap when dawn came though, but the Powerpoint still wasn't finished at 9 PM.

That time I realized the slide wasn't going to be finished on it's maximum level of radness. So I took a lightning speed bath, at 9:25 when everyone in the same session as mine was ready to go. I just typed the content out instead of adding the sweet animation I once planned to add.

Then I heard a few criteria that were included in the scoring system, one of them is to limit the duration in 10 minutes. How much the slide is helping you converse what you're talking about, and body language with voice intonation.

Comes my turn and the teacher greets me with a smile, unlike what the previous student told us about the serious atmosphere. I F5 the slide and start talking, the tiny paper that I carried containing what to talk about just felt off. So I put it on the desk and talk about my topic just like how I understand it.

Remember that cool Powerpoint animation I mentioned? Turns out that I never get the chance to show it all because the computer BSOD-ed on the 5th slide out of 10. So the teacher only had a glimpse of the slide with slight animation that I could finish in like 10 minutes, but never get to see the slide where I spent an hour onto it. I would never forget the time I mumbled "Ouch sir, the computer died." which then he replied "No worries, just continue talking." It felt kinda refreshing because he's actually interested and actually let me speak past the time limit, which then be informed after I'm done talking. Didn't know how that affect my score, but it seems that everything had ended well.

I think this is the latest groundbreaking thing I ever did since that Language Festival poster. Working on a project day after day and night after night felt rewarding when it's finished.

In other news. I watched this show called Eyewitness and it was really good. It was done by USA so it was very suspenseful and dramatic. The whole time though Lukas kept being so whiny and I felt really bad for Philip and just wanted to give him a hug lol. In the end though Lukas and Philip became a very cute couple. I'm thinking that I want to watch the original version which is Norwegian, but I doubt that I'll be able to find it online...
In other other news I've been watching Skam Italia s3. It wasn't in my original plans to watch, but Skam Italia is gonna have a season 4 and I defs want to watch that. I'm kinda torn between watching other Skams at the moment because it gets kinda hard to rememeber which ones are which and who the characters are.

So I did watch the Norwegain version of Eyewitness. It was okay. Definitely too short. It ended kinda weird which made me a bit disappointed. But I did like the character developments a bit better. Henning was much less childish than his American counterpart.
I've noticed while watching other foreign shows and movies that in most countries male characters are often portrayed as more stoic. I don't know how I feel about it. On one hand it is nice when a character shows emotion because that allows for better understanding and character development, but on the other hand though it can be a bit annoying when a character is repeatedly whiny.

Just applied to a new pharmacy tech position, this one being in a hospital environment instead. It’d pay more, and would be a change of pace while continuing to look for psychology research assistant positions.
Speaking of which, just applied to such a position with Yale. Their desired qualifications were right up my alley, so fingers crossed!
I’m also gonna be applying to a position within a research firm in Minneapolis. The benefits sound pretty good, and it would be my first legit job. I barely count my time with Kroger as genuine adulting.

Oo similar thing happened to me at Melbourne Uni. t'was the time when the uni was shuffling around the whole administration departments. I met with 4 people; they all said different things and in the end my course change was cancelled.

I ended up not being able to take Japanese in my final year because the guy who I met for the first time recommended I took an extra subject during the semester break since my transfer was basically guaranteed. I want to skewer him with a pitchfork.

I saw the Sonic movie with my boyfriend yesterday. It was a fun movie and visually pleasing. Jim Carrey as Eggman was a delight. The plot was very basic though, so nothing too special. Made me want to rewatch Sonic X and replay so many of my Sonic games.
But boy, am I glad that the redesign was a thing, because I could not have taken that movie seriously with the monstrosity that was the original movie Sonic. The new design looks so much more lively too. He looks so adorable.

So I finally chose a final path to take beyond High School, kinda. I got two weeks before the final exam, and two weeks after that will be another exam which the score from that will be used to apply for uni. Graduating is a just around the corner, and honestly I'm not ready for it.

Yesterday, I gave Hygiene up in exchange of Time, the past weeks had always been the other way around. Morning ceremony becomes a surreal experience, some people especially teachers were surprised that I even joined ceremony.

It is now Day 2 without late, I don't know how long this will last. But I'm hoping to prolong this phase, not being able to have breakfast suck man. Well, I still weren't able to have breakfast at this phase. Given enough time and then maybe...?

In English we've been reading a book called "Eddie Would Go" and I've only read 106 pages and need to finish it by next Friday. We have been doing checkpoints and he just posted 3 new checkpoints for us to do. I also have to finish the independent reading project. I plan on doing these things as soon as possible.

My sleep schedule is so messed up.
I always get so sleepy after I eat that I end up taking long naps and then when it's bedtime I'm not tired anymore.
Lastnight I went to bed at 5pm and woke up at 9pm thinking it was 9am and then I was really confused for a few minutes when I realized that it was still night time and I had to go back to sleep. I woke up again at 1am, but couldn't fall back asleep so instead I spent a few hours rewatching Skam Italia s2 (nicotino is my favorite ship). At 4am I dozed off and by 7am I was fully awake and decided to take a shower and be productive. I washed my bedding and rearranged my room a little. I didn't do any of my homework though. rip.

My cat died yesterday, his name was Smokey. I can be happy about the fact that he died from old age when he died in his sleep.

The phone interview with that hospital outpatient pharmacy went over well, but now I’m waiting on some manager over there to email me to hash out availability for an in-person interview. Not sure what’s taking them.

Got the enormous zit off the left side of my nose yesterday that went from not existing to a surface area of the front of the last joint of my pointer finger between around 6 PM and around 9 PM and then doubled in size over night. Doesn't move and doesn't hurt when touched (even when aggressively touched.) More than a little worried it's cancer, but we're going to watch it a few days before we go to the doctor.

I finished Skam Germany s3. It was a very interesting remake. Very refreshing that the Evan character didn't have a mental disorder, instead he was trans. He also didn't have a girlfriend and the Isak character very early on broke up with his girlfriend so that was super nice. The Hell Week was still nerve wracking though lol.

Which btw, it's so insane to me. I go to this insanely liberal, woke activist school, where kids are always preaching abt how they care abt people's mental health (esp. the ppl who live w me)...like, it's total bullshit. I've had people outright ignore me when I say hello to them, look away when they see me, move, yes, literally move when I sit at the house table, and so much more bullshit, from all these "omg mental health IS SOOOO important. We need to be kind to everyone" types. Like, yeah, I guess that stops if it's in regards to anyone you dislike. Cool. Hypocrites!

A lot of things have been on my mind recently.
Like... it's pretty hard to conciously feel emotions. I really only know with certainty what I'm feeling if it makes me do anything. Like if I'm fidgeting, I'll know I'm anxious, etc.

Another thing is that I have way too many fucking classes. Fuck this 22 hours of classes a week bullshit. God damn it.

My high school went from 7:10 AM to 2:40 PM, 1 hour-ish for lunch. So a half an hour longer each day, I think?
I have only about 14 hours of class this semester, but man, I am more exhausted each day now than I was after a week in high school.
It's less about the time spent in class and more about the material covered and the work we are expected to do. 30 hours of class at this level a week would kill me. 22 would also be way too much for me too, so I don't know how Pie is staying sane.
My Tuesdays and Thursdays are exhausting to me, but I only have 225 minutes (3 hours and 45 minutes) worth of class. It makes me wonder how I stayed so energetic throughout high school. Also makes me wonder how I got assignments done last minute and still keep straight A's! Now I work for days on an assignment and I'm lucky if I get a B.

Damn. Only 4 courses? Even when I was taking 6 courses, I didn't end up with that many hours. Probably only had 18 at my highest. I'm gonna be grateful about that now.
I am gonna have to start my senior capstone next semester though, so I guess that'll take up many hours of my weeks. I'm also gonna be working next school year, so let's see how I survive that. I have to register for next semesters classes next Monday.
