If everyone did take a week off though, who would we prove anything to? The people who are most likely to post misplaced threads or start shit on Main are the ones that stick around for a few days and then just vanish back into the internets. When they arrive here and don't encounter anyone to contradict them they won't care. When they get bored and leave, they won't care. They won't know what the BBS is usually like or how it's supposed to be.

So when I come back a week later and say "now see how terrible it all is without members moderating" who would I be talking to? Because the people who caused the messes are probably already gone.

Something like this could drive some new people to step up to the plate and start moderate things themselves though. I guess that's always nice to see.

It's actually becoming difficult to remember what a 'weekend' is, shit.
Between the 30 hour workweeks due to understaffing plus full time college and 3 studio courses, I end up waking up around 4 and getting back home at 7, only to do it all over again the next day for months at a time until summer or winter breaks from university.
Wouldn't be so bad if another coworker wasn't leaving tomorrow due to military (although not his fault), which will mean we're more understaffed than we already are.
On the bright side, with all the free coffee I get, maybe I'll be able to prevent myself from falling asleep due to exhaustion.

Im really depressed because colleges keep inviting me to these programs during the summer that involve computer science, video game making, robots, technology sort of stuff and idk if I'm able to go to any of it because of this stupid trip to Germany Im going to this summer :(

And idk if I can go to any of them next year since most of them say it's for juniors or "rising seniors" and I'll be graduated by next summer :((

And if I were able to go to them I'd most likely get scholarships for it :(((

I've never been to another country before so Im guessing going on this trip in the long run will be worth it for the experience and all, it's just I wish I could go to these programs and it's making me really sad.

So, my new roomie isn't as loud today. I think it's just the first day thing, so I'm letting her get away with it. However, I don't think she knows how loud the walls are. Which brings me to this question. I hear her speaking another language and doing math (the math part is in english). Now I wanna know where she's from, what her major is, and what year she's in.

Considering why, I wonder if it's rude to ask? Like, I'm sure I can ask her major and year without it being creepy. Those are standard questions. However, how would I ask what language it is? She doesn't look like she's from another country. So I can't just be like, "Where you from?" Besides, it's kinda rude to ask that regardless of whether they look foreign or not.

Can anyone help me out here? How do I ask this without seeming like a creep that was overhearing what she said? Because it's not like I was listening, only that I heard it while in the bathroom brushing my teeth.

Random Thought: What's an emotion that's strong enough to make you cry, but not happiness or sadness? Because I don't know my mood right now, and I'm seriously wondering if this emotion really has a name. All I know is it's a strong emotion that I've never felt before.

But in the end, I kind of like the feeling. It feels, like everything's gonna be okay.

I found a Rurouni Kenshin (Samurai X, it's an old DVD) OVA collection really cheap at a Salvo's store. I haven't seen the show, but I'm looking to get into it. I figured I should just save up and buy the Perfect collection box set, which is expensive as fuck but comes with everything in a neat little package with an awesome artbox.
But now that I've see the OVA collection, and I also know a place where I can also get all seasons of the show reasonably cheap, I could own the series for almost $100 cheaper, but have to sacrifice some spine symmetry and the artbox.

This is obviously the ultimate first world problem, and I can't stop thinking about it. Should I just go and buy the fucking thing?

I've always wanted to take a gap year once I'm 18 and travel around Europe (Intertrain seems like a good idea). So I watched Heaven's Memo Pad. It was pretty good. Not amazing, but you know, pretty damn good. 7.5/10. Woulda been 8 before the last episode, the ending was mildly anti-climactic. They went for the old "we need to end this series so lets fuck with a character's position in the status quo, show how the other main character's react and then possibly bring them back" crap. It was handled somewhat better than usual, but it was still highly unsatisfying.

You know what, I'mma make that a 7/10.

FMA Brotherhood is a good anime. It's so clean and yet realistic. In many ways, it succeeds where other animes fail. If I do say so myself, it's even better than Death Note.

FMA was really crappy in comparison. I mean, that was bad in comparison to good animes like Death Note.

I don't think that the first bit of brotherhood was a recap. I assume that it was dragged out so that they had more manga to work with before they had to stray.

I think mixing it would ruin FMA. For the last part of brotherhood and FMA, they couldn't combine at all. It was that different. Actually, it as really intense in Brotherhood. I liked that. I absolutely hated how FMA ended, and it was blatantly obvious in where it began to stray once you've seen the end and think about it. At least, it was to me.

There was just so much that FMA didn't explain and so many resources that it didn't use. At least, in my opinion. Brotherhood did a way better job about it. Also, like I said, FMA did very much just make shit up quite often to fit their new plot.Brotherhood used the information it already had.

Lastly, on how combining them would ruin them. FMA's pacing was slow and leisurely. Brotherhood was not. If you changed the first few brotherhood episodes to the first few FMA episodes, the viewer would be quite confused and upset at the new pace.

Furthermore, with the plot of Brotherhood, it doesn't make much sense that they spend so much time on it. Actually, it doesn't even fit into the plot of FMA. So, bleh. It was pointless info in FMA, and in Brotherhood, all it needed was to mention the fact that it happened so that you could understand what was going on later when they explained it. If you included everything about that event, you'd have to know everything about the other three events explained later, which is just filler.

So, no. I don't think that they can be combined. Brotherhood had all of the qualifications of a good story. Clean, concise, no loose ends. In the end, you don't feel like you've been dropped on a cliffhanger. You weren't told too much information so you didn't get bored. When it left you on a cliffhanger in one episode, the next episode it continued from there without going, "Far off in another land, this is happening!"

Which is something else that I like about Brotherhood. A lot was going on at once, and it didn't show you everything. Which was how I like it. The first part of FMA explained everything that was going on. But, if you had that all throughout brotherhood (which would have taken forever with how much was going on), you would have gotten those instances that I mentioned. One moment, "HOLY SHIT! IS HE DEAD?" The next, "SOMEWHERE ELSE IN THE COUNTRY, SHE'S INTERLOCKED IN AN INTENSE BATTLE!" Leaving you to wait for episodes before you get your answer.

And the events that it did explain (everything that the viewer would want to see and everything important) all took one episode each. So, to end one episode it would instead be, "He almost died, but he lives and accomplished his goal!" Then the next would be, "She's fought valiantly! She won!"

So you could see the clear timeline and steps that went forward into causing the end, but you didn't know how it al added up until the end. Which is my absolute favorite part. I love stories where the viewer is left trying to figure out how everything will come together.

So, it made sense and kept you interested until it reached its conclusion, making a brilliant anime. A lot better than the mindless action of Naruto or Bleach.

Both of those feel very much like, "Oh noes! We're losing views! Let's give th main character a new power, add a new bad guy, and give them this awesome fight so they'll keep watching!" Then you just get bored because you're not curious or interested. It gets boring.

I dropped my bag of craisins on the ground today and my crush picked them up. I didn't even notice it was him until he handed them to me. Just when I was getting over him he does that. Well, at least I know he isn't super scared of me like I thought...

I don't want them combined because Brotherhood is fast, I want them combined because one of my first impressions of Brotherhood was that the first few episodes were too fast. It felt to me like they were basically thinking "been there, done that, let's get to the new shit." The first few episodes of tje first series just had me a lot more emotionally invested than Brotherhood did intially, though whether it was from the first time experience or the overall presentation I couldn't say.

To be honest, I liked FMA the first (and only) time I saw it, and didn't really notice a significant drop in quality after they started straying from the manga. 40 episodes in, I was enjoying the anime just as much as I was 10, and I even liked the movie (although the ending did annoy me). I agree that Brotherhood is a lot more satisfying in many respects, and I get why a lot of people choose to disregard the first series, but I still think it's pretty good. Not superior, but still worth watching. Preferably before you watch Brotherhood or read the manga, else you're basically bound to hate it.

Having said that, the nostalgia factor is strong in this one, and I haven't seen FMA in years.

Writing up a constitution without stating my own opinions is hard. I want to explain my decisions on a few matters, but at the same time, I fear doing so will cause some discord between me and people reading it that realize I don't mean it in a mean way, such as everyone who I wouldn't have direct contact with.

In regards to AI, it is speculated among scientists that a self learning AI could quickly overpower humans. This is because it's essentially a computer. It doesn't forget anything like we do. Therefore, it's capable of learning far more than we do. Also, it coudl essentially learn things by downloading it, rather than our process that takes months.

I am against AI this advanced. I'm against AI that could learn things on its own. Because of this reason.

The premise is not a new concept and has always been looked down on. Abusive guys being excused for their actions because they had a dark past and the women they abused going back to "fix" them is a really popular trope in literature. I had a really long retrospective thing to post, but suffice to say my life feels totally meaningless.

Kingdom Hearts was my only actual friend growing up. It was there when I needed it and made sure I melted into a beautiful fantasy world, not perfect by any means, but 100% enjoyable and gripping. Kingdom Hearts II came out, and I played that one constantly during middle school/junior high. I related to Roxas most of all... Trapped in a place with nothing to do except what you are told, and the looming fear of punishment should you not. Questioning oneself, learning slowly the depressing truths that replaced the happiness and ignorant bliss of childhood. I stopped in high school because I didn't have the time, according to my parents; I never did my homework, I never needed to study, and I couldn't play any games (much less KH) so I went online and played Gaia a bit pretending I was studying. Made some cool friends. Now every time I play any Kingdom Hearts game, the first note of any song makes me burst into tears uncontrollably.

People are really beginning to use the word butthurt whenever some one is passionate about anything. The two really need to be separated somehow. Or I'll just ignore the term of phrase.

What I'm passionate about is the actual book. I'm not sensitive about judgments being done, it's just annoying. And some of it is even done with fallacious reasoning, which is even more annoying.

I complain about something twice and here you come. It's priceless.

Ugh, I hate that Yorick's eventually going to get reworked... He's so good right now. The only way to counter him is to have burst that has CC, such as Annie or Malz. He's more of a lane bully than Renekton whose damage doesn't fall off late, nor does he get so squishy that he dies before he can pop a squishy. Really, the only ways to counter him in teamfights are either be Annie or Malz, or be willing to waste a bunch of CC on Yorick instead of the squishies.
