I realized that most regulars which nowadays are roaming around our site never really stayed long enough to dig deeper and learn about our community's 'lore'. I mean sure, that likely was due to our site's slow pace. But for what its worth, the site had been up for 11 years now. It has lived through 2 great waves of newcomers, massive amount of potential members. Both of which are concurrently happening around the airing time of Durarara's installments.

So surely we've jammed quite a pack of history in our timeline record, which is where this thread comes into play. If you know story(s) about Dollars, spill it. Something about our previously unheard/undocumented mission achievement, notorious trolls that has graced our community and leave a lasting impact for those who still remembers it, drama-reeked incident within the community, anything of the sorts, spill them.

Discuss them here, give a comment or two, or even submit the story(s) you experienced. As the popular saying goes, "Those who forget history are doomed to repeat it."

I'll start with,
web.archive.org used to be able to capture our site. That is until some party-popper says that our site is not "secure" enough and that we need to make every URL of our site redirect anyone to the password-login page.

Thus, begin the 4 years of void in our archive capture. Their site capturing system couldn't bypass the login page, even if the password is just as simple as a google search away. So no data was ever retrieved during that 4 year time-period.

The barrier was finally removed as early as February 2015. Everyone is free to visit any threads from any URLs from that point on until this day. But man, just imagine how much stuff did we miss out on.

Woah I didn't know that's why we have that gap.

On the art board, Hatash made a thread called Crappy Art Time:Part 2 in 2012. At first everybody was just posting random crappy sketches, but then it all came together to tell a story with characters. I haven't reread that thread for years, but I do remember it fondly.

Back in the earlier days, there was only "Description & FAQ" thread. Read This If You're New (RTIYN) and What Not To Post On Main (WNTPOM) was added later on. However, it was already included in the oldest (and possibly the first) FAQ on the site (in a condensed version) which later on would get its own separate thread.

Just some random tidbits woo

We made a mini puzzle hunt game for Dollars Day earlier this year, it is supposedly designed in mind to only be solvable by having access to (almost) all Dollars sub groups due the clues being scattered in every one of them. If not, then at the very least collaboration between members across different platforms were required.

Up until now, no one had ever reached the finish line.

Ah I missed the main release of the puzzle hunt! That sucks... I'd probably try to dig for the main clues thread later and read through the progress. I'm not really well-versed with how the site works but I love lurking in here.

I only wish for a better outcome in some alternate timeline- I had a lot to offer this place but anger got the best of me.

I remember forever ago, back when there was literally just the main forum (as in no other boards: introductions, FAQ, discussions, etc. were all on the same main page) and the chatrooms. Trolls used to regularly come in to just spam the same message over and over again on new threads to flood the main page. At first some of us tried to reply to the threads tell them to stop, then the next step was just to bump the threads with actual content in it, and then eventually we just settled with just waiting for the guy who owned the site to mass delete the spam messages.

It became routine after a while. So whenever a troll would come in, all the regular members/posters would just take a break from the site for a bit, then we'd come back to the spam having been deleted (and the troll getting bored from nobody paying them attention lol).

So you would have a thread with a title "Dollars" and the first post just being "I cant believe this is real!" on Main board which is here, since it is the first thing that they were shown after getting through the password page. And having newcomers saw those kinds of threads would be giving the wrong impression to what we're actually doing (this led to the creation of Introduction board) and since the anime's hype was at its peak, you'll be seeing those kinds of threads 100 times a week. Now you tell me how that doesn't drive people mad, of course they eventually resorted to using the infamous sentence enhancer.

(Yes, we have a thread spanning all the way to 800-ish just discussing and telling the snowflake newbies to stop complaining from being told that their crappy content-less threads doesn't belong on Main.)

Then there are the roleplayers, roughly something like [this], but since Durarara was in peak popularity... you know where this is going.

While not a very exciting I'd like to point out that I had 4-5 100+ post threads on main discussion the culture, topics and "rules" of the BBS!

All were killed! Gone forever! Curse those who protected main from my passive aggressive discussion!

Also, lets not forget how you spammed loli lewds on Random a few years back which resulted in your ban.

My first ban was also wayyy before that, that was my child brain thinking I'm getting "back" due to the ban.

Thing is IP bans are really easy to get past so they're more or less useless.
My old raid mates, most on the same connection when they raided are also all unbanned now.

I just can say that i found out this site for the anime, but this site is real and we too.
Dollars is a totally real thing that can be represented by everyone here frome every part of the world and if we want we can make differences in this rotten society <3

Can't believe I had to say this here, but our admin goes by the name Reltair and only he had the power to delete threads. We are somehow managing with the ninja mods permasaging garbage threads of their choosing, still not enough though.
