Ok. Here goes. I believe in the separation of information and discussion, unless there is a only single subject in consideration (i.e., talking about one particular convention). However, since I would expect many convention related things to be discussed as well as many conventions to be posted, I made a separate thread for discussion and information.

If they were all in one thread, it would be harder to find information to add to the index than if information was only in one thread. With an information only thread, everything added after the index would simply need to be added to the index. This is my opinion.

Problems: Yes, bumping has been an issue, and I think the reason is because this thread does not link to the discussion thread. If it did, people could simply bump this, post here with info, and then know where to go for discussion. But seeing as there is no link this thread would need to be made anew, which is what I would do personally.

I think I (or someone else) should make a poll to vote on the decision, and we should involve more members than just us 3 or 4.

Poll options would be (I would imagine):

1 - Remake this thread to point to the discussion thread.
2 - Get rid of the discussion thread altogether and have con discussion here.

There are over a thousand posts in a thread. People will be able to survive mentioning what conventions they're going to and discussing what they're doing there in the same place.

In the future, please be more mindful and respectful. For what has already been done, I have no intention of backtracking so you can get what you want. Do it properly next time instead of pretending nothing was done wrong already.

Analogy time. It's like a kid planting ivy next to a young tree their relative planted, then asking afterwards if they should ask for the opinion of the whole family about whether it should be removed to keep the tree from suffocating or if the tree should be moved somewhere else. You handle that issue ahead of time so that the tree doesn't get hurt, especially if it's just been planted and needs the space to spread its roots. Nevermind suffocating it; it can't even get itself accustomed to the soil with a second set of roots in its way.

There are always other options. It's just a matter of how stubborn you want to be ;P If you're willing to let the thread go, then post in there saying to move the discussion here, and let it fall down to the archives. If you still think it's a better idea and don't want to let go no matter what, then the mods'll get involved and make the final decision. That's all.

Tending to the ivy would require continuously cutting it down so that it couldn't climb the tree and suffocate it. You'd have to hurt one for the other either way, so it's best to keep just one.
