HELP, I'M NEW

To start out, let us tell you some cool things that will help you out as you get ready to submerge yourself in this awesomeness that is the Dollars:

✮ By typing that password and entering this site, you're already a Dollars member!! HOW EXCITING. But wait! Please note that Dollars-BBS is not a fansite.

Some helpful vocabulary:

✮ Reltair: Do we have a leader?! NOPE. We do have an admin, Reltair, the awesomeness who created this website and keeps it running beautifully.

✮ Board Descriptions: Above each board, there are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G board descriptions. Be sure to go to each board and read each one before you make a thread. When you make a thread, make sure it's in the right spot. (Misplacement may lead to rage from other members who help moderate. You will soon learn that we have quite a few personalities here. Be careful and get off on the right foot!)

✮ View All Threads: Hey, see that button sitting on the top right of the page that says, "View All Threads"? What's that for? If you click it, you'll see all the threads that are in the board. There’s one for every board. Please check that and make sure your thread isn't a duplicate or we'll be sad ; ^;
✮ Your ID and IP address: If you look on the line your Name shows up on when you post, it also says "ID:______" This is a random letter scatter of your IP address. Mine for example is “Name: Kannerz ID:iLulEdM6.” Even if you change your name, your IP will still be the same, so don't try to masquerade as someone else ;)

✮ Tripcode: On the other hand, adding a tripcode to your name is a way to differentiate yourself from everyone else, especially those that share your name. When posting, simply add an exclamation point (!) or hash (#) and some random words after your name: "Voldemort !randomwords" where ‘randomwords’ will generate a unique identifier for you. (For example mine looks like>> Name: Kannerz !!QnMEEPcaB.) Test out your tripcode here.

✮ Bump: What’s up with all these people post “BUMPPPP”? Posting “bump” makes the thread go to the top of the page.

✮ Thread saged / permasaged: When a thread is saged it means that it even if you post in it, it will not be bumped back to the top. Threads are saged when they are posted in the wrong board or when the topic is stupid/not thread-worthy.

✮ Thread closed: Guess what? Threads have a post limit! It’s 1337 posts. No joke. After a thread reaches 1337 posts you can no longer post in it.

✮ Check out any boards that interest you. Don't take us too seriously if you get yelled at; everyone makes mistakes, so just learn and move on, 'kay~?

✮ If you were wondering, there are indeed other Dollars websites/chatrooms. Please do not advertise them on this BBS.

Don't yell at newer members or people making duplicate/asking common questions. Direct them to the FAQ thread on Main. Member didn't see? Post again. Member still not listening? Yell yourself to awsumness ;D

◘ So, there's this other member I'm not sure about, who is yelling at another member for making a thread...

Older member YELLING at new member!?!?!! D: Leave. Don't take sides, don’t comment. Comment when it's all over and SAGED. Do not bump the thread. :T Odds are, that member is a regular; they know what they’re doing. Just leave it. :I

◘ WHY ARE THEY YELLING?

Why we yell? Because the older members have been here for.....well most of us.....since the beginning of the site's creation. We've been through a hella lot. :Y Our anger is just our expressing our disappointment, and for some, to direct the newer members to the right place. You shouldn't be yelling, not yet, because you don't have much to see in disappointment. But your time will come. :3

The chatroom isn’t ours but we still get questions on it. Can’t help that; it’s our fault for linking it to begin with. So here’s >>2 to answer all your Chatroom questions.

Concerning the Dollars Chatroom

ಠ First and foremost, please note that the chatroom is not ours. Our admin, Reltair, did not make it. It was made by a japanese guy called Suin. And if anything goes wrong with it, we have no way of fixing it. Please do not complain about or make threads concerning the chatroom.

ಠ Anyways, since it’s linked from the BBS, I might as well answer some questions about it.
There is no need to register to use the chatrooms.
There’s usually a "BBS Regulars" room in there where you can find members of the BBS to talk with.
And sorry, no, a PM (private messaging) function has not been installed.

ಠ Code of conduct: You should act well mannered and civilized, but no we can’t really force you to. You might have noticed there are quite a bit of roleplay rooms. We aren’t responsible for what goes on in those or the damages they may do to you, so avoid them. Or don’t if you’re into them.

ಠ Chat buttons at the right hand side: The horn thingy on the very left is for sound. When someone posts it makes bloops. Click to mute. The little human-shaped button shows the number of people in the room and their usernames. The bubble button is for animation. It makes the bubbles pop or animate when you post something. The EXIT button is, well, self-explanatory.

ಠ Lagging: If the Chatroom is quiet all of a sudden, you might be lagging. Refreshing should fix the problem.

ಠ Please leave the chatroom correctly. Just click the log out button. Not doing so would make you ghosted, leaving your name still logged in.

ಠ Ghosting: This is when the chat still thinks you're logged in, when you really aren't. Your username is still in the room, but you yourself aren't. How did this happen? You might not left the room correctly, your internet connection resetted, or the chat might be glitching.

To fix ghosting, log out of the room and then enter the room again but with a different name (the name change could just consist of having a dot somewhere in your name, nothing major). If this fails to work, we can’t help you. There’s probably a problem with your browser or internet connection.

ಠ Host: being the ‘host’ or having ‘host powers’ lets you do certain things in chat. If you make a room or you are ‘given host powers,’ an extra gear-like button shows up at the right hand side of your screen. Clicking on this, we will notice that it lets you change the room name, kick, ban and give your host powers to another person inside the chat.

Runner-up's are Memphis May Fire (SOUTHERN METAL FTW XD), Eyes Set to Kill, Chunk! No, Captain Chunk!, A Day to Remember, The Devil Wears Prada, Modern Day Escape, and A Skylit Drive.

Top 3 Record labels are Rise, Fearless, and Epitaph....I'm a fan of Equal Vision, Ferret Music, Solid State, Tooth and Nail, and Artery Recordings.

I know a friend (He's my best friend's older brother, and he plays in a band) that was at the Warped Tour 2012 Chelsea Grin concert in Toronto where the Taylor woman died. He met Miss May I, Blessthefall, maybe Sleeping with Sirens, and some other bands.

I recently got addicted to post-hardcore, and I love it, though I must say I equally love alternative and general rock, if not more. I'm not a big fan of super loud music though, like metal and screaming :P

And just a note to people who will make an introduction thread, this is just a matter of preference but I would really appreciate it (and I'm sure others would to) if you actually put some effort into your intro. Like, if you don't give any damns then don't make an intro in the first place. It irritates me a little to see so many new names and watch them disappear off the face of the BBS. It makes me feel like people get bored and leave or something. I mean, it's not that hard to write down a paragraph about yourself or your interests, and it sure as hell doesn't take too long.

Just think about that before you make an intro, it's a pet peeve of mine.

Been on for 2 days. I really enjoyed Durarara and out of curiosity I checked to see if someone had made the Dollars. It was easy enough to get in and I'm really enjoying being here. Scottish Dollar sitting higher exams starting tomorrow.
I love this community and enjoy it a lot. The idea is tremendous and the more like the anime community the better in my opinion. I'd like to see a Dollars wide mailing lost as in the Anime.

A few of you are using common names on here like Izaya or Kanra and stuff like that. There are like fifty Izayas so use the trip codes. TRIP CODES are a good way to differentiate yourself from other people with the same name.

That or you could come up with a new handle that is more original. Then you won't need a trip code like me i don't have one because i'm the only Sairam.

It's due to the fact that people post here so fast that the thread gets bumped only rarely.

Why are we still bumping this thread when half the links are broken/go to finished threads and half the points in the OP were for the previous generation's circumstances?

I have been working on a new one, but I don't have the time to just sit down and finish it right now. If you're going to bump it frequently anyway, please work on a post with at least updated links.
