Ranking System (10)

1 Name: Danzo : 2021-07-26 19:38 ID:ma8n6H0W [Del]

A ranking system that allows people to commitment to the dollars - could be based off of amount of posts, missions completed, or something else entirely. The benefit of this would be that it would give people a reason to interact with the site (there could be some sort of benefit of being a dollars executive/high ranker) and would also give the site a sense of structure (high rankers/executives serving as guides for newbies). Also - if we devided the dollars into sub-teams based on your location and your specialization (are you a musician, an architect, an artist, a writer), we would be able to issue orders using the ranking system more effectively. I.E, each sub-team has its highest ranker and who issues orders for missions to the lower rankers. This ould allow us to do stuff more effectively and celebrate as a community when we reach important milestones

Also - Having an election yearly for our own leader who can issue orders to individuals, set an agenda for the dollars, and appoint special tasks for individuals?

Doesn't this contradict the only rule we have as dollars? I mean I would like to have some well organized structured sub groups but it is entirely against our only rule. If you have watched the series and that monologue about what dollars is (i forgot the which ep and s, but i think its Mikado's dialogue). Dollars have one rule, there is no rule anyone can do whatever they want (that is why there were stray dollar members that causes trouble just as like us IRL) and that they have no obligation to founder (which is reference to saving Mother Saika from Blue Squares, they don't have to and so Mikado is greatful for cooperation).

I understand that anime is different IRL but that is more reason, there are more constraints in IRL, like more "shall we say urgent use of time" like working to pay bills, studying etc. Second is that as mentioned there are stray dollars in anime and IK that there are more here so how can you ask cooperation of those who do not want to cooperate(it is fine if they just don't want to cooperate but worse if they cause trouble)? Third to those who will be part of the sub groups etc. There is little merit for them considering the first issue at hand "a more urgent use of time", instead I view it as more of a demerit considering I rarely come here.

Please don't misunderstand me, I would love for us to be a proper organization, have a clearly defined and unified goal and objective, a proper well-structured communications and groups but anime is different from real life also ANY PLAN REQUIRE RESOURCES TO EXECUTE AND OPERATE.

>>5 Agreed. That said I think I a re-organization of this community isnt out of the question. I think it's highly possible and I look forward to any attempts of such in the future.

>>5 I agree to, I'm not against a re-organization too but it's contradict to Dollars.

I think the original idea is a bit too game-y to function in a real context. The problems are that defining "commitment" is tremendously subjective and the data you've proposed using for it would be impossible to gather (i.e. how do we mark missions as "complete" - this assumes a central authority that gets to approve completions and even then, not every mission is concrete enough to have a completion metric).

Beyond that though, as a general point, I think we need to realize as a community that organizations just don't function without structure. I've seen countless ideas be born and die to the same notion that "the dollars have no leader" or "XYZ violates the dollars ideals", but when we observe reality, we see that every long-lasting, positive thing about this community required structure.

e.g. the admin of this website must have the power to delete/permasage posts to keep it from constantly being trolled

e.g. the most active and flourishing chat communities across the years (Dollars Discord, LINE, GroupMe, etc) required admin/mod teams to become what they are/were.

My perspective on it is that we'll continue to go around in circles until pockets of structure emerge that accomplish their respective goals, but these are just my thoughts, what does everyone else think?

What has worked since the earliest days would be the infamous rule uttered since the site's conception, "If you want change, you lead by example."

From the days of Ayanavi, Misuto, and *insertnamehere* to MKOLLER, BarabiSama, and Kurosuke. These people made huge contributions to the community and dare I argue, they became local legends within this site. The first three laid down the foundation of this site's culture just 20 days after it was first online, and then sticking with it, followed by their countless successors, the latter three, and finally us today. Of course, the last three also contributed massively in the Missions board. They neatly organized and indexed every last thread into one place, easier said than done tbh but they did it.

If you can prove your worth to the community, then everyone will regard you as worthy of being their leader. Simple as that really, I think.

In the words of divineraccoon,
The Dollars is not good; the Dollars is not bad. The Dollars may not even be neutral. It is nothing, it is the void, the aether by which we act and discern judgement upon matters without the input of outside influences save those we allow to affect our opinions personally. The Dollars is, in a sense, pure and free.
