Manny Pacquiao (50)

1 Name: Misuto : 2010-11-13 15:40 ID:glUwtBs7 [Del]

I don't even watch boxing normally.
Call it nationalistic or simply bandwagon, but this guy is my hero.

Anyone else know of him? He's the biggest thing in the Philippines - literally everyone has a day off when he has a match. He's also a politician for some reason and an actor.

60 minutes coverage of him:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RfcFX1RO5LA

2 Name: Misuto : 2010-11-13 15:49 ID:glUwtBs7 [Del]

Oh, forgot the reason I posted this at all.

I'm watching his fight tonight with my relatives (every filipino in the area, including non-relatives). Anyone else?

3 Name: Rogers : 2010-11-13 20:07 ID:QwpFK6a7 [Del]

am not going to watch it but I think Manny will win! >:]

4 Name: Misuto : 2010-11-14 01:03 ID:glUwtBs7 [Del]

He messed that guy's face UP.

I just came back from watching the fight. By round 3 that guy's right eye was totally gone. The ref had to check him every couple rounds to see if he could still see ("how many fingers am i holding up").
In one round, Pacquiao landed 6 hits in a row to his face within like 1 second. It was unbelievable.
Even when he was backed up against the ropes, he wasn't really getting hit hard.

Unfortunately, Margarito had good balance so he didn't get knocked out. Pacquiao won every single round, and towards the end he was letting up because he felt bad for the guy. The ref should've ended it by the 10th round at the latest.

I wanna see him fight Mayweather already - even the announcers were making fun of him for backing out of it so many times

5 Name: Kaori : 2010-11-14 01:45 ID:Pn8fmnx9 [Del]

*shudder* hey...i saw him on tv! i SAW YOU! jk xDDD but he was on the news i think

6 Name: Thanatos : 2010-11-14 08:59 ID:0CIdeU5C [Del]

Wait a minute. He's a actor too?

7 Name: Misuto : 2010-11-14 13:50 ID:glUwtBs7 [Del]

Apparently. He's also a congressman and a singer.

idk what the hell he's doing, lol.

8 Name: Rogers : 2010-11-14 14:09 ID:sRnEMW1h [Del]

LOL koool!

9 Name: Thanatos : 2010-11-14 23:35 ID:5O62G3I1 [Del]

He's gonna beat up everyone in the congress. " Agreed with me or I'm going to punch you so hard, that your grandsons gonna get bruised"

10 Name: Firo : 2010-11-15 14:57 ID:qq1Qy58H [Del]

my sister and her bf watched one of his fight against a spanish man. im not trying to offend any spanish/latinos/mexicans here but apparently Manny had to hold back against him.

11 Name: Misuto : 2010-11-15 16:29 ID:glUwtBs7 [Del]

He tends to do that if he's already winning and it's too late for a knockout.
The announcers were like "that's the politician in him telling him to let up on the guy" when he did it to Margarito.

Are you talking about his fight with Cotto? Because apparently he wants a rematch.

12 Name: 久遠/Eta : 2010-11-15 23:09 ID:1NFIylZK [Del]

duddeee, that poor guy! his eye was all busted up :O his eye looked like it was gonna burst >~<

13 Name: Tanaka Taro !3PFoE2qNoE : 2010-11-16 08:35 ID:04Gy3dfc [Del]

yeah, and it needs surgery. Man, Margarito's future will probably be ruined now..Although I'm a Filipino and on Manny's side, i was concerned on Margarito(imagine yourself in Margarito's place).. That sucks and I feel pity for him, anyway it's the referee's fault< i red from yahoo's news..

14 Name: Misuto : 2010-11-16 20:39 ID:glUwtBs7 [Del]

That's true. He was pretty fucked up at the end of that match.
I read about that surgery.

I saw that during the match too, the referee was pretty bad about checking his eyesight. He did the finger count test, but only held up 1 finger each time, so it was plainly obvious even if your eyesight is completely impaired.

When Margarito's trainer was interviewed after the fight and asked why he didn't stop the match, he said that Margarito wouldn't have let him, as a matter of pride.
I don't know how true that is, because the guy didn't even try to stop him.

pacquiao is cool..... determined in his life..
from a food vendor.... he became a millionaire... billionaire!

16 Name: Eto : 2011-02-01 07:59 ID:nupbEjz4 [Del]

Lol He's pretty humble too. In a way, he's a bit naive (if anyone saw him on Jimmy Kimmel), theres an innocence about him. Cool guy, absolutely. but of course, he's vicious in the ring.

Quick question. If you were given 1 million dollars to let manny punch you in the gut with all his might after you just ate, would you take it?

17 Name: Misuto : 2011-02-11 17:09 ID:glUwtBs7 [Del]

>>16 Considering all that would do is make me throw up, then yeah, I'd take $1 million dollars.

Not that bad of a deal, imo.

18 Name: Lookie !.GhOWWhAnE : 2011-02-14 03:09 ID:99O9h2Iw [Del]

>>17 I will make it a 10 billion dollars if you let Manny Low blow you with his all might( hit in the private area) would you do it??

19 Name: Silver!ozOtJW9BFA : 2011-02-14 08:07 ID:gBArMmQP [Del]

...just how many Filipinos are in the Dollars? O_O

20 Name: Lookie !.GhOWWhAnE : 2011-02-14 08:57 ID:99O9h2Iw [Del]

>>19 many?? i think

21 Name: Misuto : 2011-02-14 15:02 ID:glUwtBs7 [Del]

Um. That's a harder one. Because that involves possibly permanent sterilization and I don't know if I'd be willing to live through that.

Also I have a feeling I'd never find myself in that situation.

>>19 There's apparently quite a few. I wouldn't have guessed there were so many.

22 Name: Eto : 2011-02-16 08:07 ID:u6TVKgX/ [Del]

>>19 A hell of a lot. 'cept not all of them are as active. Misuto, Firo, and I are just a few, from what I can gather.

23 Name: Misuto : 2011-02-16 14:15 ID:glUwtBs7 [Del]

>>22 And have you seen the introductions board lately? Every other post is "omg I'm filipino too!"
It's madness!!

24 Name: NyaChan : 2011-02-18 20:07 ID:6eyxvhmG [Del]

Haha! That's how a lot of Filipinos are. We're always OMG! Filipino! Lol. OH! Who's excited for Manny's next match?? It's a day before my B-Day! I'm excited!!

25 Name: Misuto : 2011-02-20 02:57 ID:glUwtBs7 [Del]

Ahh! When is it? I haven't heard.

Definately excited for that.

And yeah lol, knowing Filipinos half of them are probably "related" to each other too.

I was pretty mad when the judges announced Bradley the winner. the fight looked great for Pacquiao, but the judges voted for bradley

47 Name: meteor : 2012-06-28 08:48 ID:HjVNrUe0 [Del]

the man should stay in the boxing ring, where we love him, not in the congress where his skills are doubtful.

>>46
the controversy. those guys should have been thrown out the window. maybe they weren't looking. the gits. they must have been thinking of the profits of a rematch...

Why was Bradley so sure of a rematch?

48 Name: Aswang : 2012-06-28 16:41 ID:a8DTBEx+ [Del]

>>47 usually Pacquiao gets a rematch, and he does better than the last each time! Remember the last Margarito fight?

49 Name: Tom<3Celty : 2012-06-29 01:50 ID:N5wJvTet [Del]

50 Name: meteor : 2012-07-03 06:06 ID:pLIwc2wh [Del]

>>48
yeah he usually does. but sometimes i feel he gets cheated out of his honest wins. I'd say he won the first two of the three bouts he had with Marquez, with Marquez taking the last one.

on another note, i really want to see him fight that Mayweather.
