What the fuck happened? I went to sleep and I swear there were like 740 replies to RTT 53. Now I wake up and it's RTT 54 and we're only at 6 replies. Everything always happens when I'm asleep.

Day one of Hoenn Tour went pretty well. It was very cold though. Usually I walk 10-15km during events like this, but today I didn't even hit 6km because I kept having to go back to my car to warm up my poor paws. Hopefully tomorrow will be better, it's supposed to be 20 degrees warmer even though there's a higher chance of rain.

sometimes i think about how much i've changed, but mostly i think about how little i've changed. the fact that i still find myself coming to this site every once in a while is the real proof in the pudding for how little i've actually changed. i've been posting here and there since 2011, which means that i've been lurking for over a decade. i wonder if that's a good thing or a bad thing

Some of the most influential members from the site's heyday still visits occasionally every once in a while, some for the similar reason I've mentioned above, but also because they couldn't help but wonder how this community (that they help establish its foundational baseline with their philosophy) is going to develop/morph as time passes.

Hoenn Tour Day 2:
I got sick. I toughed it out for about three hours after walking almost 6km and then I sat in my car for 15 minutes spoofing steps to hatch the last batch of eggs. After that I went home. I'm really ready to just crash, I feel so exhausted.

Brought a new vedio game today. I'm addicted to buying Switch games. I should really slow down. I'm gonna buy the Friday the 13th Ultimate Slasher Edition next, that on I'm buying digitally because I can't find a physical for my region. Gonna have to buy a head set as well since the game supports voice chat.

ˆPets with cats really depends on the cat tbh. My black cat loves getting pets and if he's really trusting he'll roll over and let you rub his belly. My white cat also likes pets, but he's a lot more coy he has to come to you and if you're over affectionate he'll leave. My sis's cat is really shy about showing affection, he'll come up to you and paw at you for pets, but once you start to show him any affection he'll run away.

People be hating on the NTR genre, but I personally dislike the harem genre way more (I don't actually dislike the NTR genre so I don't know why I phrased that like I did). Japan is great, they take risk and give the people what they want like loli (it wouldn't happen so often if people didn't like it). There is no kink shaming in anime/ manga/ light novels because we all know it's fiction.

My contract with Allstate ended today and now I am faced with a hard choice when looking for my next job.

I can continue doing software engineering, which is what my bachelor's degree was even for, which has a lot of room for salary growth. But... I don't feel as skilled as other engineers are and idk.. it feels a bit boring to me. I got that feeling during my junior year of college but I felt I was too far into the degree to back out and figured I could at least buildup a solid savings off of it. But realistically... I can't see myself doing this for much longer. Sure, the pay is good, but I have no passion for it and it's hard to get myself outta bed every morning.

Or... I can use my degree, which was very math heavy, to qualify for an alternative path to get a teaching certificate and then start teaching math now instead of later like I had planned. I love math so much and I have lit up every single time someone has asked for help with math. (And I'd like to believe I've done a good job in explaining the topics.) It definitely doesn't pay as well as there's veryyy little room for salary growth, but at least I would feel fulfilled and enthusiastic about my job.

So. I'm stuck at Money or Passion. I shall continue my research and look at the available job openings.

(Also, a quick addition to >>33. I'm still getting paid $1,200 a month until the end of May, which is why I don't have a new job lined up yet. Not too much, but it's enough to cover the essentials.)

You should get your teaching degree and should start going in the field of research. Not everyone stays with their love for their subject. I myself a physics student, really love my subject for which I'm proceeding for a professor degree along with a PhD in mind and hoping in the field of research either in quantum mechanics or most probably astrophysics. I am pretty sure you could have a good life and fortune in the field of maths as well as it is required in every other possible field. Don't ever get demotivated bro, your degree means a lot and you'll be respected for your contribution to your field

Found out my cousin is in an affair with a married woman or at the very least pining after her. She and her husband moved away because her husband suspected her of having an affair and now 2 years later my cousin is very eager to move to where she moved to. He's thinking about packing hid belonging without even hearing back from the place he applied to live at. He even is leaving his bed behind. If he's having an affair he's a dumbass and if he's pining after a married woman to this degree he's a stupid libido brained idiot. I hear his mom saying the details to his brother over the phone, not eavesdropping if she speaks loud enough for me to clearly hear.

Worst yet the woman's been unfaith numerous times and married, divorced, and married 3-4 times I hear. She's a whore, no sugar coating it. If what I heard was true.

Honestly I've never read the HP books or watched the movies in full so I don't keep up with any of that stuff and I'm a bit at a lost as to why everyone is blowing up about the game so extensively. Like Fantastic Beasts didn't get this much blowback? Why is the HP game ending careers?

For my 'boy goes to magic school' series I read Charlie Bone by Nimmo. Nimmo does excellent characters and she really delves into psychology and development of children. I loved her book Griffin's Castle and her other series Snow Spider.

I haven't kept much tabs on Harry Potter since JKR started retconning details about the books, and even less so with her whole transphobic spiel going on. But I did read that some people have an issue with the game itself due to story having very antisemitic tones. So I think unlike with Fantastic Beasts, you can't really separate art from artist with the game since the game itself is supposedly not okay? But that's just what I've been able to gather. I'm sick of hearing anything about Harry Potter or JKR so I try to avoid them but they both always make show up uninvited anyways.

My quick opinion on it as one of the Token Trans Dollars is that it's dumb for someone's career to be ended over just playing it. But it's also dumb that some of these people simply don't just pirate the game so that absolutely none of their money ends up in JKR's hands, lol. I've heard it's broken and gltichy anyways so might as well save your money.

I applied for an alternative teaching certification program so that I can get started on the path I really wanted to take. Also applied for a few part time jobs just so I can have a lil spending money while I'm taking those courses. Here's to hoping all works out well for me! I've been watching TaskMaster clips. That show is really something. Really enjoyed the ep where the contestants were brought into a pitch black room with a paper pad and paint pots faintly lit up with glow medium and asked to draw a rainbow. Their only handicap was that they weren't allowed to open the door they'd come in through. Only one of them thought to turn on the lights.

I wholeheartedly disagree with 70% of what you said. If you don't like retcons don't listen to them, their not in the books themselves, just statements by the author in social media and as far as a retcon goes that means next to shit. It's not Canon unless it's in an actual story. As for not liking Harry Potter because of statements the author made- I believe those are irrelevant to each other. Do you know how many low time authors/ directors get in controversy later in life? Well the answer is who the fuck cares because out of most books and films a person reads/watches they give zero shits about who made them, just a name on a cover. Why should Harry Potter get special treatment? I understand it's in recognition of the author's talent, but I'm trying to point out that at the end of the day the story is all that matters. Also you suggested people pirate the new game so the author doesn't get any money and I think that idea is lame. Everyone is corrupt, you, me, your neighbor. We either think bad about a certain group, bully someone at school, get addicted to non healthy things, think bad thoughts from time to time, have affairs. There is never a single person who goes their whole life without doing something bad- at least with JKR we know her bad side. We don't know the bad side of other people we give our money blindly to and pirating itself is a bad act. Basically with JKR you're getting the devil you know, would you rather have the devil you don't know because they could be far worse. At the end of the day JKR is irrelevant in the big picture, people have anger for being discriminated against and she's a celebrity who said really bad stuff so she's being used as a scrafical lamb for rightful anger. As for the antisemitic aspect of the game you mentioned- You can't apply modern day morals to something set in 1890. It's accurate for the time, people were more openly racist back then (still are, but most people aren't). It's fine, historically accurate is nice even if it's ugly to see. We cant erase the past, it needs to be presented in ways that show us that we weren't morally superior back then like how history actually is.

I've been given a new assignment by a client. I love my work, I can be honest with my excuses. I legit replied back with 'level grinding in video games today. I'll start tomorrow' and they were like 'sure thing. If I wanted a rush job I'd pay for it.'

With the retcon stuff, I meant more that's why I stopped paying attention to any Harry Potter news. I know it has no impact on what's actually in the books and I still have a bit of fondness for them, if mostly nostalgia.
And obviously there's plenty of creators that aren't great people. But when a creator is vocally shitting on the minority group that you yourself are a part of, it does kinda sour the creation a bit for you. Idk why JKR is getting this huuugeee spotlight compared to other shitty creators, but for me personally, as a trans person, it just doesn't feel great when someone is that loudly transphobic. I'm gonna be brutally honest. I don't see a point in virtual YouTubers. They're annoying as fuck. My roommate listens to them every day and it pisses me off because they don't use headphones, but keep their volume at full blast. That itself is annoying, but Vtuber's voices sound so irrating to me and all they talk about is random shit. My roommate has been trying to get me to watch them, but fuck no. What do I gain from watching them? I don't find them funny at all, all that constant narration of their actions and feelings is annoying. Also the fan bases are known for being really toxic, so hell no.

"Fuck" is my new favorite word. It has so many meanings and you can use it in any context or situation. "Fuck you." For example could be an express of anger, sexual desire, surprise, joy, all sorts of things. You can say "fuck" when you're happy, sad, tired, lonely, surprised, angry, basically any mood and any setting. Words are a weapon and "fuck" is a great word weapon.

I don't get why delivery fees are so expensive. I could understand if they were actually based on distance the driver is traveling, but it's not. It's just an arbitrary amount that doesn't make any sense.
In other words: I've decided to not order pizza on the basis that the delivery fee is more expensive than the food.

I'm editing a new book today and I fucking hate the last person who worked on it. They did the shittiest job ever. I have to basically fix every paragraph. I don't know if this was the author or the previous editor, but a line in the book describing the color of something has it described as "greenish-green" and I'm like wtf is that supposed to mean? How can green be greenish? If it where to say greenish-silver I'd get that, but fuck this.

When I was younger if I didn't know how to spell a word I was told to look it up in the dictionary. How am I supposed to do that? Explain the logic behind that.

Later as I got older I was told to look up how to spell it on Google. That wouldn't always work. Sometimes Google wouldn't understand what I was typing in and I'd get results for a completely different word.

Now we have "Okay, Google." Or whatever you use to answer your vocal questions. If I don't know how to spell a word I still know how to pronounce it. I can ask my question vocally and get the correct answer every time.

It's very annoying when my work schedule gets changed and my boss doesn't even tell me about it. I'm glad I looked before I fell asleep though or else I would have been mad about waking up early for no reason.

I watched Once Upon a Time in Wonderland a few days ago. I really enjoyed that series. I wish the creators of the main series had made more spin-offs like Wonderland rather than bogging down the original story with a bajillion subplots.
I'm making my sister watch Once Upon a Time with me though and I'm so glad that she loves Rumple as much as I do. I still can't get over the fact that the actor who plays Rumple came into that roll right after SGU. It's like night and day lmao, really amazing. My sister really wants to see the actors audition tapes which admittedly would be a treat.

I saw a double feature of 65 and Ant-Man: Quantumania at the theater 12 hours ago. 65 was an alright film, not as great as the hype I heard. I did like that they used different dinosaurs than the Jurassic Park franchise for some parts of the film. Overall the movie is forgettable, like a one-night stand that you rate as "average" or "meh". Glad I didn't pay for the ticket.

Ant-Man 3was also average, but slightly better than 65. Glad I only paid 28 cents for the ticket. It wasn't as bad as people were saying, but not as good as the first 2 Ant-Manmovies. As for the villain, Kang, I heard that the character and actor carried the film and he was better than Thanos. Neither of these are true. Sure he was a better villain than most MCU villains, but he was still evil for evils sake. There was no higher though process behind "I want revenge and I'm gonna conquer the multiverse". Thanos had character and dimensions, same as Loki, Zemo, Killmonger, and Namor. Every other MCU villain was evil because that's what the script called for, they could've made Gorr a compelling villain, u
But they ruined that. Kang was not special, he was powerful. The start of this film felt like an Ant-Man movie, but I felt they jumped into the main plot too fast and as soon as that started it lost the feel of the previous Ant-Man films. Basically everything in the Quantum Realm felt removed from the last 2 films. This film was like Black Adam in that it delivers something we've seen a dozen+ times from a Superhero film.

In fact a younger version of himself forms the Young Avengers in an attempt to stop his older self from being evil. So you're supposed to get a very in-depth backstory during the Young Avengers run.
Unfortunately Iron-Lad has yet to make an appearance in the multiverse and the Young Avengers is still looking a long ways off.
All of the recent Marvel movies have been pretty meh from my understanding. I don't think the MCU will really get its redemption until Loki s2 comes out.

Also I'm bored. I've been going through different parks, museums, businesses, etc trying to find fun things to do and March is just really a dead month. At least April isn't too far off.

It was a bad idea to try and scratch off a hair cyst. It was even worse to put a bandaid on my leg after. Even when I tried putting water on it, it was pretty stuck and it pulled out the hairs it was stuck on.

I saw Scoob! a few hours ago. First let me say I had low expectations for this film, it recast a great cast, seemed like some origin story from the trailers, and overall I'm not a huge Scooby-Doo fan. Don't get me wrong, I like the franchise, but it's not something where I'm a hard core fan who owns all the DVDs and seen every film and episode. Truthfully I feel the formula gets old after 20+ films and 300+ episodes.

That being said I loved this film. I haven't laughed that hard in months, it felt so good. The comedy/ jokes landed. This new cast was excellent, I didn't even miss the old cast. The animation was great. The intro where we get to see Shaggy and Scooby meet was emotional, I thought they did a great job of showing how the gang got together.

If I hadn't seen another Scooby film with the Blue Falcon and some episodes with him I would've probably thought they made up a superhero to cash grab the superhero audience which back when this film came out Marvel was at the height of their popularity. It's still a cash grab, but the character already existed in Scooby-Doo lore and the story with him was well written.

I always think it's funnier when Scooby can't pronounce his words that well. When the bad guy and Scooby kept on going back and forth on how to pronounce his name was the most hilarious part to me.

I loved the intro song, using the original cartoons visuals and songs, but modernized them. I also liked how the bad guy wasn't the typical masked villain, but the writers still found a way for him to wear disguises.

My only issue with the film is we won't get any sequel as I remember hearing that project was scrapped. Overall this was my favorite Scooby-Doo film with excellent comedy, a great story, and a nice simple mystery. I give it 9 out of 10.

Can't focus on my studies so here I am, wasting my time doing nothing...

I saw the first episode of Young Justice season 4 on HBO MAX. This show was always one of my favorite animated series. I didn't like that it was canceled yet again, but now I understand why it might have been.

You have to follow the series closely. You can't skip an episode and still expect to know what's going on. You can't stop watching for a year and try to pick up where you left off. The biggest issue for it is that it's story is too complex. I watched season 3 back in 2019 and now in 2023 I'm completely lost. I feel like I'm missing some key plot details and I don't recall who all these side characters are.

I don't want to sit and re-watch 3 seasons just to understand a 4th season's premire. With a story so complicated like this no wonder it got canceled again.

I don't think I'll be able to watch Suzume on the theatre, which is really unfortunate. Is sad, I'm sad.

Started watching In/Spectre, i'm on episode 3 right now, so far so good.

Furniture shopping is stupid. Why do all the children get the cute stuff? I want cute, colorful furniture too.

I brought my first 4k bluray player along with Scream 6 4k Steelbook. Scream 6 was fucking amazing, best Scream film yet. I decided to buy a Panasonic 4k player, I heard they were the best company out there for this. I'm a big spender, go big or go home is my motto.

Being all depressed all the previous weeks whenever I see my disastrous messy room and thinking about how I should really do something about it, finally gathered enough willpower to do something about it, then gets depressed again right when I'm about to start doing something about it.

When people wonder how basement dwellers managed to live surrounded by garbage and filth, really, they just got used to it. And since getting better requires effort and energy, which they couldn't get because of their crippling reality, they just, didn't...

Every now and then when I was a little, I would suddenly be awake in the middle of the night. I'd then sit upright and took a glance at my sleeping parents and sister besides me, we were all sleeping in one room, but I'm the only one awake in that dark room. Lights from outside dripped through the ventilation hole above the window, dimly and limitedly providing light in the room.

Just now I was taking a shower, its late evening, outside is dark already. When I'm done, I entered my room. AC was on, lamp was off, my PC was on, particularly the rgb keyboard, the only source of light in the room. The curtain was slightly open, my neighbor's yellow lamp bled just a bit through the window.

And I thought, its so peaceful, this atmosphere.

I recalled a certain live PC wallpaper of a dark messy room with Hatsune Miku teleporting around in it, and I particularly remember thinking "Man, living there must be nice." I shared this sentiment with other people for a short period of time before I eventually stopped, they thought I was weird for wanting to live in such a messy place. They couldn't understand what is it that I found so pleasant about that messy room, and frankly, I couldn't put into words what I was feeling either at the time.

I certainly am not interested in living surrounded by piles of garbage and filth such as that virtual room, yet my thought persisted, I want to live in that room.

So, guess I finally figured out why I want to live in that room so badly.

There's a story on RR that's not been touched for 22 months now that I swear I've seen or heard about somewhere else, and every time I think of it, it frustrates me to no end because it's so familiar. Babel Maze. I think about it like once every other month and it's annoying that I don't know why it's so familiar. I think I watched someone read it as a creepypasta in 2013 or something similar, back in one of the months where I listened to those.

hello. been a minute. was reading some of the responses to this thread and i got thrown into a memory and i wanted to share because it makes me laugh and question myself.

when i was in elementary for about 3-4 days i would suddenly black out and wake up the next morning. i remember being confused and thinking i just passed out (because i had a pension for just passing out sometimes) but then realizing that my memory was just blank for about 13 hours of that day. i would remember doing elementary-schooler things and then wake up like it was a dream but in reality it was the next day. all my homework was done for the day and nothing was out of the ordinary except for my missing memories. had no recollection of going home or doing any of that. then it stopped and never happened again.

when i got older i thought it was just this elaborate thing i made up in my mind, but then again, the memory and the emotions attached were way to distinct for it to be fake. but maybe i was just a weird fucking kid. i did a lot of weird shit for validation when i was younger.

anyway, just wanted to share this little fun silly thing that has stumped me for the past decade-ish. back to lurking haha

In/Spectre is such a genius title, spectre means ghost, and on first read, it sounds like 'inspector' which makes sense since the story is revolves around solving problems reported by ghosts. Basically detective for ghosts.

Am starting season 2 now, this anime is good it turns out. I was expecting a sub-par cheap entertainment, but got infatuated by the premise and its characters instead.

Had a nightmare where kids on bed world threw maggots at people. It was some sort of sleepover event I think, and the entire terrain was bed surface, or is it because its a nightmare that my perspective skewed so much and so perhaps its just a normal bed with lots of children on both ends of the bed.

The bed was double-decked, like, the bottom one can be slid under the top one when not in use. So not those tall ones with ladders, this is important.

So its a sleepover that had lots of kids. It seemed that they divided into two groups, the lower ground team and the higher ground team, notice how the double-decked bed created this sorta pit-like defense terrain you'd normally see in war movies. The team on higher ground is the one throwing maggots, at us the lower ground team. For some reason, I was like paralyzed 'on top of the pit' so I couldn't take cover. Maybe I was shocked, the thought of moving away or even getting a blanket never occurred to me in the first place.

Anyways, the visuals of maggots being thrown at the lower ground team was like a war poster propaganda. It was terrifying, I can't put into words how it is. The maggots were many, they landed and crawled on the bed, they landed and crawled on my skin, my head actually hurts a little due to all the stress accumulated from seeing stressful things after waking up, stressful situation includes, but not limited to, maggots crawling on my skin, among many things.

Got my 4k player

I've been feeling like a Corporate slave for the last week. I wake up and work until I sleep. I've found it pays to be a yes-man. Although I still make my own decisions, I'm in charge of my own little section now.

Again people if you want quick promotions just smile and wave. Be nice to everyone you meet even if they urk you the wrong way. Act a bit personal so everyone feels like a friend, but keep a level of professionalism. Always act quickly to actions your boss take, your reaction speed needs to be lightning quick. Help everyone out, even if you feel like they're asking silly questions. Lastly you should always volunteer or look to improve current systems. These are the keys for quick promotion as I see them, of course you also have to be skilled at what you're doing.

My twin has tentatively gotten a job at Grand Teton for the summer. Starting in April she'll be spending five months up there working in a small general store inside the park. Which means that I'll have the house to myself for those five months.

Also update on what I'm watching:
-I finished s3 of Miraculous Ladybug which was a whole ass trip. Loved the Cat Blanc episode where Adrien found out Marionette's secret identity and then subsequently killed her, his dad, and then destroyed the entire world. The writer's really wanted to emphasize that Ladybug and Cat Noir can't know each other's identities.
-Started Milo Murphy's Law which has been absolutely delightful. It's by the same people who created Phineas and Ferb.
-Started and finished Shadow and Bone s2. Perfectly brilliant. The ending really shocked me because I wasn't expecting them to deviate from the S&B books, but I guess to extend and include Six of Crows they sort of had to. I'm so glad that Leigh Bardugo is helping with everything or else I'm sure the show would be a mess.
-Started watching The Whispers and rewatching No Ordinary Family which are both 1 season trash shows from ABC. Like ABC has shows that generally have good premises and somewhat decent actors, but then the writing is absolutely awful unless it's some sort of family drama.

I sat down to watch TV for the first time in a week and the whole time I felt like I should be working. There was a nagging feeling in the back of my head telling me to work. Okay, I told you the steps to quick promotions before now let me tell you the downsides. The biggest downside is a constant feeling to prove yourself, that you deserve the position you were appointed to.

I now have a three-monitor setup. It's kinda crackheaded and pointless but I have three monitors and it is cool.

Watched the dnd movie. It was pretty good, if you ignore the total of zero spells cast between the bard and druid combined.

I saw John Wick Chapter 4 in the theater. This film was good. I liked the dog, some kills were funny while others were brutal. I enjoyed the ending. I really liked the world building in this franchise. The villain seemed great and intimidating at first with awesome monologs, but at some point he feels like a spoiled rich boy and he loses that flare he had at the start. I did not feel the film's run time. The king of the homeless people always had great lines and was always funny.

Overall I'm not a John Wick fan. I thought the first two films were okay or meh. I didn't dislike them, but they weren't great. The 3rd film was the first one I liked. I loved the world building in the 3rd film and the first 1 hour 30 minutes were gold, but after that it went all downhill and I thought the ending lacked but did a good job of setting up a 4th film. Chapter 4 might be the first John Wick I liked from start to end. Again, I only liked the film. If you've got 3 hours to kill I recommend giving it a watch otherwise I don't see it as something that must be viewed.

I brought Batman" The Doom That Came to Gotham on 4k, watching it 1 day after release. This film might be my favorite Batman film and that includes live action. I haven't seen The Dark Knight or any of the Nolan Trilogy. This film is a 9 out of 10 and I highly recommend.

The story takes place in the 1940s and is a Lovecraftian Horror. Batman deals with an Outer God (not cthullu) trying to get summoned into Gotham. I liked the re-imagining of several characters from DC Comics. The way the talk also feels correct for the time period. This film takes Batman places he's never been before to where he's willing to kill and almost driven to madness.

I can't decide if I like this more than The Batman (2022) or not. It's that good. Now if this wasn't animated it would be an easy win, but an actor can convey more emotion than an animation so that's why it's a hard choice to make. I think I like it more.

I watched Honor Among Theives and Shazam 2 at the theater back to back.

Both were funny, I liked them both about the same amount. Honor Among Thevies had more jokes, personally I found the jokes in Shazam 2 funnier. Shazam 2 had 1 moment where I got a bit emotional and teary eyed, but I didn't cry and I loved the cameos in Shazam 2. Both are good films, neither are most watch again right now films.

Ghost Rider is strong enough to take on Hulk at his angrier and Galactus and come out a winner if he so pleased. People underestimate him, but Ghost Rider is crazy powerful.

Hozier's new song "Eat Your Young" is a whole ass mood.

You see guys, when you sleep on the bed, the body rests completely and it will be hard to force awaken it, like if you need to prepare for the day.

But if you sleep on the couch, there is just enough comfort to rest and actually fall unconscious, but not enough to actually hold you in from waking up, thus you will have an easier time to get onto what you need to do.

When I finally have my own crib, I bet I'll be getting a soft couch first before a comfy bed lmao.

I remember being enrolled in basic english course when I was elementary, then I moved to another school that actually has english as a subject. So I guess I just had a nice circumstance of having english be integrated into parts of my daily life since I was small.

But, now, how would one learn english in an age as late as 20?

I'm getting far less interviews with 1 year of software experience than I did when I had no experience. Maybe it's just the time of year? Last time, I was applying in January. Now I'm applying in April. Perhaps I can get better luck in May? In the meantime, I'm thinking of offering cheap tutoring services to help me out.
I'm glad I at least built up a good amount of savings, so I'm not in financial ruin or anything. But savings will only last me so long.

In other news, I have a subject knowledge expert test on Friday, so if I do well on that, it's one more step closer to earning my teaching certification. Then I can switch to teaching and then just do freelance software work over the summers.

I watched the Syfy show Surreal Estate which was interesting. It has absolutely nothing to do with Stephen King, but the writers clearly wanted it to be set in the Stephen King universe which was kinda weird, but also kinda cool. I'm curious to see how s2 will play out when it finally airs.
Started watching Y: The Last Man which has been really good. The only thing I don't really like are all of the subplots. Like they do add a lot of depth and world building to the show, but also Yorrick and Amp are literally the only characters I care about lol.

Also don't know if I mentioned, but the Blue Beetle trailer that DC dropped looks sick. I'm real hyped to see that especially since Marvel has just been crashing and burning with their movies.

I was doing some landscaping today and I saw a baby snake. I was a bit sad that I didn't have my phone on me at the time or else I would have taken a picture.
But on the plus side I moved a pile of gravel, dug up a small tree, and pulled weird faucet and platform out of the ground. Hopefully tomorrow I can get some more trees up and move more of the gravel... My back yard is almost a normal backyard.

My sister has been working at a boba place for a while now and it's really nice. She's in a much better mood coming home than she was at her last job. And sometimes when they mess up a drink or a Door Dash order never gets picked up, she gets to bring them home with her. And she lets me have some. I personally like to listen to NFS Most Wanted's orchestral chase tracks. You should probably try bgms from your favorite games, preferably the ones without lyrics. That way, you won't get distracted from your tasks.

Maybe the game's soundtracks tricks your brain into somehow thinking that what you're doing at the moment was playing the game, sorta, idk actually. I do know however, that games are basically glorified tasks giver disguised and designed to give you dopamine boosts upon finishing each of them.

In any case, the musics are only sideshows. Your current task is the one in front center, try to make it stay that way.

I have a friend who had a similar face to a senior I once had in high school that holds the position of leader for the journalistic club I once took part in.

I'm not sure if its because of my engrained memory of his greatness as a leader or if I'm just a horrible person, but this new friend of mine is so incompetent as a leader of this planned event that it really just rubs me the wrong way. I know he didn't mean to be like that (he's just a rookie afterall), but his face just reminds me too much of someone I used to know that can handle this much pressure very easily. So seeing him fumbling down so easily from just this amount of pressure, is giving me 'negative emotions' to put it lightly. It's not his fault, I know, its entirely mine for having these emotions in the first place, that wasn't even supposed to be.

Not looking for advice or anything, I just want to pour these feelings out.

Also started and finished Paraiso (Paradise) on HBO. That show was great. I really went into it with 0 expectations I just wanted to watch something that wasn't a cheap drama. It had a similar energy to Stranger Things, but with a heavily streamlined plot. Really enjoyed the whole cast and the writing. There was even a plot point in season 1 that absolutely fooled me, I was shook and delighted because that doesn't happen often. I really hope it gets a season 3 to explore more of the villains' backstories. 10/10 would recommend.

Also also I have fully caught up on Doctor Who. I'm really hyped for the 60th anniversary special. The trailers are truly inspired by analog horror and it's really appealing.

My laptop is probably going to die this weekend. It is already making scratching noises and I had a mini heart attack when it turned on with a black screen. Thankfully it turned on normally the second time but I am immediately backing up everything right now. Hopefully it doesn’t crash in the meantime. Pretty unfortunate timing too, as I was going to backup some forums and subreddits since a whole bunch of Imgur images will be purged.

I love teaching my cat tricks. She is so smart!! She currently does sit, lay down, stand (on hind legs), spin, and high five. We also sometimes do the game where I hide treats in one of my fists and she has to pick the hand that has the treats, which she usually gets correct first try! (She watches me switch them back and forth between my hands, so her goal is to keep track of which hand they're in).

I have a hula hoop in my room, so now I'm trying to train her to jump through it. Today was the first day for that and I worked on getting her comfortable just walking through it and she did a great job. :) I did lift it a bit to see if she'd do a small jump, but she just kept trying to go under it instead. Something to work on...

Oshi no Ko's quality is all over the place, gotta be honest. Some shot compositions are masterful, but a lot of the times the qualities were just barely good enough. Like, you can't just take the manga panel, redraw it with some little animation and calls it a day, that's just lazy.

Its very jarring to see the almost-mediocre scenes suddenly taking a steep climb into masterfully directed scenes and before you knew it, they took a nosedive back to mediocrity.

Am sad this work is treated like this.

>>260 Idk, Oshi no Ko has been pretty good. I'm 4 episodes in (or 3, I forget) and it just comes off as a bit experimental. It is especially so in the first episode. I don't think every shot of this kinda anime needs to be a masterclass in cinematography/whateveryoucallitwhenitsanimated and I like how they've played with it.

It's definitely annoying in the way anime tend to be, plot-wise, but it's tolerable enough most of the time with some random amazing parts.

Finally got around to watch Sing A Bit of Harmony, they started off really strong in the beginning up to the first half of the movie, then its spark kinda fizzles out in the second half. Could've been a masterpiece if they let'em cook it a little more, I think.

Still worth a watch for the musical scenes alone though, just watch the trailer. I really love the jazz OST they made for this, yes, the jazz song is also in the anime.

Involving yourself into a Twitter argument is never a good idea but I still attempted and came out relatively well I'd say? It just reminded me that whenever I actually do use my rhetorics (which doesn't happen often because why would I even get involved into internet arguments), a part of this decision is based on a memory from years and years ago of me going to this very board and reading a conversation between two people argueing with wall of texts about a topic - and thinking "wow, it's interesting that I can't tell from this conversation who's in the right and who's in the wrong at all because both parties bring well thought out and relevant points to the table". I was way younger back then so I might be glorifying the memory too but compared to that, most arguments on the internet are comparable to inarticulate monkeys flailing around and throwing tantrums when it's pointed out that their arguments have flaws. This doesn't just go for opinions that I disagree with but I'm also kind of tired of seeing people whose opinions I do agree with to just lack any depth in their reasoning thus making it just look like they're repeating whatever the hive mind is telling them to. sighs

I started reading Midnight Crossroads by Harris. When I was reading reviews online it seemed like everyone either loved the book or hated it. I guess I have the benefit of having watched the tv show before getting into it because the number one complaint on Goodreads was that there were too many characters and rotating perspectives, but since I'm already familiar with everyone it didn't feel like too much of a hassle keeping track of the different characters. The only thing (so far) that I haven't liked was Manfred (22yo male lead) immediately lusting after Creek (18yo side character). Like he legitimately asked everyone what her age was to make sure it was okay to try and hook up with her. I thought that was kinda gross, but I'm mid book now and not much has happened between them which is good.

I finished reading the Midnight, Texas book series. It was very good. So much better than the tv show. The tv show did a lot of stupid things for extra *drama* which wound up being completely ridiculous. The books were a lot more mellow while also being quite suspenseful. It was a good mystery series and I wish Harris had written more than 3 books for it (like seriously all of her other series have like 10+ books in them).
I'm going to read Dead Zone by Stephen King next. I've seen that show and I really loved it and I'm hoping the book is just as good even though I know the show was drawn out across multiple seasons whereas the book is a standalone so there's going to be a lot of differences, but I'm still hopeful.

Went to Phoenix Fan Fusion over the weekend with my sister and my cousin. It was my first con! Lots of fun. :)
I kinda wanna apply to be a vendor at a con at some point. My art seems to be on par with some of the artists there, so it seems doable.

I've been feeling good recently. Which is new for me. At least, for as far as I can remember. My memory isn't too good... But now, in the morning, around 5am, I go outside and listen to the sounds. Birds chirping... a symphony of roosters... and on week days, there's a palette company working away. Most would find the sounds of wrring blades against wood annoying but I don't mind. It makes me miss the days of when I use to live by train tracks. The sound of a late night freight train passing by in the distance. It's powerful engine and roar still able to gently shake my house. I miss it. I miss my downtown library. The way it had barely any windows... it's carpeted floors muffeling ones footsteps. The rows appon rows of book shelves on its first floor. The basement was even quieter, if you could believe it. Even a bit mysterious with books locked in cases to preserve them.. but my favorite was the 2nd floor. It had a vast kids room, bigger than my own home. Old computers with plenty of games and a space just for toys. Even a chalk board. It had an auditorium with a beautiful grand piano that my friend Clara use to play. She played beautifully. Enough to make my cry... even just remembering it... or perhaps it's the fact I can't remember a single note she played...only the feeling I felt... unfortunately, that old library.. a library my mom and her mom before her went to has been replaced with what I can only describe as a book hospital. Cold.. sterile... too many windows. The place echos and the kids area is the size of my hallway. A pitiful site.. I hate modern architecture... but there's nothing I can do about it. I'm but a man listening to the birds chirp and blades wrr. I pass by my old school... only to see its been torn down. Every second home I once held dear is gone and I can never get those nor my youth back. Time marches on... and in the end, I won't even have the memories. Time... marches.. on...

Yesterday I took the bus for my daily commute to go home, at evening. This particular bus had bright lights, and for a split second I felt like I'm in a scene in Evangelion. The part when Shinji cast himself away by taking the train until the end of the line, in particular, the montage where people come and go beside his seat while he just sulks there with his mp3 player. I don't know why, but that night it just felt that way.

I went to a new library today. They were holding an event for diamond painting. It's like a paint by number, but you use small little gems and press them onto a picture and they stick into place. I spent two hours doing it and still only finished a small corner, but it was also pretty satisfying. I'd never done it before, but I've seen them around and everyone who's ever done them says they're fun. I think I prefer puzzles and actual painting more than diamond painting. However, I did pick up a second one on a whim. I honestly don't think I'll finish either of them anytime soon though since they take so long.

I can already imagine how epic the final 2 episode is going to be, based on that hypothesis. Because the jarring scenes and cuts are appearing less and less now, so their budget must've went to this second half here instead of the first half of the series.

I went to a little book club hosted by a local library. The book was West with Giraffes by Rutledge. It's a historical fiction about 2 giraffes being transported across the United States during the Dust Bowl from New York to San Diego, California. It was an interesting read with compelling and well-written characters although historical fiction isn't usually my cup of tea.
The book club was about 15 older woman sitting around discussing the book with prompts. I was the youngest there. The second youngest must have been in her late 40s or 50s. Everybody else was upwards of 60. They were all very nice though and shared some interesting stories. The discussions themselves were a bit bland though considering we all agreed and liked the book and there were no controversial messages or moments in it to debate about.

Method acting is quite... mad, I think. Like, you force yourself to think like someone else, sometimes even the opposite of what personality you have.

If the task is to act like a bitter person, then however bubbly cheerful or selfless your personality are, you gotta override them and starts thinking bitterly about everything to give a good performance.

I have only done it twice, which was on the final week of my latest theatrical play a few weeks ago and I wasn't really doing it for too long or anything because I'm still experimenting with the act itself since our trainers said our performance is still just about subpar and I'm getting desperate to gain just the slightest bit of improvement.

Rewiring your brain to accurately reenact a character is literally playing with fire. Like, your mind literally had a second thought about the fake bitter thoughts you come up with. So it knows that 'this' is wrong, but keep doing it on and on and your body gesture will start to adjust to those bitter thoughts, which is really scary in a way. Like its that easy to become who you aren't, but the second thoughts never really fade away (well, as far as I have experienced thus far). So I imagined if this fake personality overrides your real one, it might seem like it from the outside, but like I said, the second thoughts never really gone away, so there are two conflicting mindsets battling in your mind now. Isn't that scary, like, losing grip of who you actually really are?

Been addicted to an idle game recently. Bitburner. It's themed around hacking, but instead of buying stuff for automation, you have to write the code for automating it yourself.

So 2 days before the D-day of performance, on that final rehearsal that night, I started doing these thought trainings in the backstage. I stopped talking to anyone, I just glanced at my friends, recalled what I knew about them, and starts looking down on their imperfections. Like playing pretend to be a dick and entitled sorta person, but in your thoughts only. The second thought literally kept coming in like, "Wow, that's rude. Wow, that's rude. Wow, that's rude." I guess you just got used to it over time.

After that rehearsal ends, we all sat down to review the highlights and setbacks of the performance, and our mentor did mentioned how my performance that night was better than all the previous ones. And so I concluded, the thoughts REALLY DO affects body gesture. I'm not sure how that works, but I guess if you starts thinking like a cocky entitled jerk, your body gesture too will starts getting this mysterious confidence... a sense of entitlement? A misplaced, sense of entitlement, I guess is the right word.

A footnote on how women is more susceptible to breaking down in acting, my senior's role was being a hard working wife for a dead beat husband. The family's financial was crippling, and one of the story's highlight was when the wife nagged the husband for not having a job nor look for any when she already worked 9-5 and is barely making ends meet, like she's so done with him and life in general. And I guess shouting with that exasperated tone really took a toll on her, because during one of the rehearsals, her voice breaks and she teared up for real midway through. Had to stop for a bit there to give her a breathing space and calm herself down. Actresses had an easier time to get invested in their role, but they can also get too invested, its a double edged sword.

In other news, I recently read Jon Bois's "What football will look like in the future". Does anyone read them? Its a great read. American football, not soccer. I'm not a sport fan, but the way he wrote it is just so captivating. Definitely a recommend.

Finally got around to cleaning my house today. It's been a while since I've had a proper day off since last week I didn't have electricity.

Sunday my mom strong armed me into going to me niece's birthday party (she turned 2). I guess it gave me a chance to try out a butter cream frosting recipe. I really wish I had proper vanilla though and not the imitation stuff. The taste (and the cost) are completely different.

Also I have finished two books in the last week. The first one was Spineless by Miguel. It was a children's book about kids who find a new species of octopus. Very fun and cute. Had similar energy to Hoot but set in the past. The second book was Dust by Swanson. Less cute and honestly a bit more on the meh side. It's a continuation of Peter Pan that keeps the original story and the Disney movies canon to its lore. As usual I was disappointed that they took an aroace character and made him hetero. Granted I'm somewhat lenient in that all characters from children's stories are aroace, but even still there's only so much I can forgive and him falling in love with a girl after only knowing her for a week is a bit extreme imo. Very forced sexual attraction that I didn't appreciate.

I will never forgive the Honda motor company for pulling the plug off the goated Jazz Fit model and then replacing it with the very mid City model. I've adored that model since I was little and saw it frequently on the road, it is only after I learned that they had stopped selling them here that I finally realized I really do love them and would like to at least own one of them some day. And that is partly due to it having a cool somewhat sporty design despite not being an actual sedan, and also because the price doesn't stretch all the way through the roof like the sedans in this part of the world (our government's vehicle categorization system is to blame for that buttfuckery) so that part helps keep the dream alive and grounded. "It is possible that someday with enough savings, you can go to Honda's dealership and buy a brand new Jazz Fit fresh from their factory."

That future is no longer available for me, and for that I am mildly sad.

In a better light, Hyundai's new Ionic5 model is super cool retro futuristic themed I really like. Can't wait for their Nvision74 concept car model to actually hit the market and saw one of those bad boys on the street, I swear I'm actually gonna squeal when I see them.

Also also, saw E2000 parked on the street yesterday. Old model, but I also saw retro futuristic theme from it (which... I mean, of course it would be). So that's really cool I think, its not everyday that I could see something like that.

That reminds me, there was this one time when I was driving alone through a small patch of wood in early morning, I saw a really beautiful orange-blue feathered bird flying-by quite low. I squealed upon witnessing such a beautiful thing. And that got me thinking, maybe my fixation towards cool cars are just a modern form of the past bygone generation of human's fixation on beautiful things that they might stumble upon once in a blue moon. Like birds, or flowers, or idk, stuff. Which I think is really awesome.

It's raining outside and I'm quietly musing about the nature of rain and our relationship with it. Is it not fascinating that it has been raining on this planet for billions of years and yet it still never ceases to amaze and conjure a sense of awe at the sight of it?
If you think about it rain is miraculous in its own way. It is certainly one of the reasons this planet is even habitable. The planet is made up of 70% water, but only 3% of that is fresh water. YET because of how rain is created it is always fresh water which means that places that don't have access to fresh water on the ground can still receive it from the sky. That's wild.

I just read a few of Fake's novel, and I'm having a difficult time coping with the fact that the 'war' part in 'Holy Grail War' is actually happening. Narita wrote great characters, gave them a great role in the story and then proceeded to kill them off.

Its been a pretty long time since I indulge myself in stories that has their characters put in genuine danger where death is actually a threat and its author is not afraid to demonstrate that by killing off some of their character that has received proper characterization. A nice change of pace I must say.

Rambling from one thing to another, yesterday I was playing NFSMW, particularly I felt like I played like a zombie at that point, the game has started to become kinda repetitive after a few months now. Then in one occasion, while on a high speed chase and all the police were behind me and on my side, one of the police at my right side made a hard left turn and bumped at me so hard I lose control of my vehicle, like holy shit I didn't know the AI could that, like I really frantically scrambled to gain back the speed before they could really boxed me in because oh boy that was a really close one and that moment really brings back the magic of the game back to life for me. I've never encountered them doing that much aggressive move before, and I think studio BlackBox really did it on purpose to maximize the fun. This 2GB 17 year old piece of executable file packs a lot of surprises in it, and I cant thank them enough for it.

With enough determination, you'll find the perfect medium to create your game. I knew no better when I had that big passion for game development, and I only have and knew Powerpoint, so I played around with it and found out it has surprisingly flexible features, enough for me to satiate that desire to create a game I can call my very own. That was during the pre-internet era of my life, even though internet was already a huge thing by then, it had not been for me, so I stuck with powerpoint for years on.

In another timeline, I might've been proficient with Adobe Flash to create my games, and in the process, get familiar with another adobe products that are now the industry standard software from a very young age. But now that I've come this far, my vision of the game I want to create has adjusted itself and are now aligned with the skillset I had acquired. So I'm content with creating my game in Powerpoint, really.

So I say this to you, you're not venturing far enough, scour the net more and find the game-making medium that suits you.

I feel like I've been in a sort of bleh mood this whole week and I really don't know why. Last week I was productive doing crafts and reading books and baking. This week I can barely find the motivation to get out of bed. I was really meant to go to the tag offices today (something that is very important), but I just didn't. Maybe it's the heat. Or maybe I'm just dehydrated/malnourished because I have not felt like cooking anything.
Definitely cooking vegetables tonight though. And perhaps watch something that'll make me laugh.

While I have been "bedridden" though I've been playing a lot of Pokemon Violet and doing lots of trades through Home. I managed to 100% my Pokédex finally and I finally finished the Iron Leaves raid. Both took a lot of grinding. But the latter is what led me to get my Koraidon. I still have to do some 5* and 6* raids to find Sweet herba mystica for the last storyline I have left. No doubts that I'll finish it before the dlc comes out though (which I still need to buy).

I want to try making baguettes. I meant to make them this week, but then motivation went out the window. I've got it in my head that I don't want to buy bread from the store anymore. I just want to make it myself.

Slept early and now I am well rested at just 1AM, got a stack of bread, guess I'm just gonna have breakfast all night.

I keep getting my IVP card application rejected for dumb reasons (ex: dates from one signature didn't match with another signature), and it takes like 3 weeks after it gets sent in for me to get a response. Schools in my area have already started, so I'm very unlikely to get a teaching position for this school year. So once I finally get my IVP card, I think I'm gonna apply as a paraprofessional and then go for a teacher role next school year.

I finished this book called A Cosmology of Monsters by Hamill. Very intense and thoughtful. The characters were delightfully well written and the plot teased out just enough to keep the reader invested and wanting to keep going without withholding too much information that you felt intentionally kept in the dark. I think my only critique is that I had hoped the monsters would be more gender ambiguous considering they're literally monsters, but other than that a fantastic read.

A while ago, I wondered if zengy remembered which simpleflips video started with his greenscreen falling. Found it.

Last week, I was in Jakarta and was granted a room on the 16th floor with the outside view overlooking the sprawling urban neighborhood down below and some tall skyscrapers standing amongst them like anomalies.

And I don't know why, but I just felt some sort of disgust upon seeing those urban sprawl. And I don't actually mean the hundreds of tiny houses, I was referring to the skyscrapers. Like, idk, democracy, the good of the people over everything else, that kinda thing probably.

Its something new, I had never experienced anything like it before. And its not actually my first time in Jakarta either, so I'm guessing that being on 16th floor probably put a lot of things into perspective. (I also realized the irony of me experiencing these thoughts while staying in a luxurious suite of one of those skyscrapers I referred to as disgusting)

Because despite having these luxurious buildings in the city, many people I saw on the streets were living simple lives or even borderline miserable, traffic jams are eternal, all day long, all night long. It was one of those moments when it dawned on me how much problem is plaguing our society and how we should really try doing something about them. In hindsight, some people probably already did, but their efforts just hadn't bear much fruit. It really makes me want to do something about it.

I have decided to start anew my ppt game from a while ago and I have now made 3 levels with completely different but (I believe) more polished aesthetic than last time I shared it with you guys!

Also, funny thing I experienced while browsing Pinterest for inspiration. Remember when I said I want to make a game that has an aesthetic of posters, in that the gameplay has the posters change or move its objects when a certain thing is clicked. Well, it turns out that you need to set a certain base gameplay mechanic to make something like that possible. So it actually incorporates UI/UX experience, like, players would need to be taught what kind of object they can click that will move the game forward.

Our digital world as we know it taught us that bright-colored shape (usually boxes) with a label on top of it (usually an icon or a piece of text) is interactable and will probably do something or take you somewhere when you click it.

Silly me didn't realize that I was supposed to come up with my own game's rule of mechanic, so I kept getting confused when I see every posts in Pinterest using all bright colors for its objects and wondering "How would people ever figure out what to click if everything is 'screaming' for attention?????" before I realized these were supposed to be printouts/handouts and they were never intended to be clickable let alone interactable.

Will be fun once I lay down the ground rules and starts bending them in higher levels to lax out the rules whilst keeping the mechanic consistent.

So yeah, I think I'm off to a good start.

So I read volumes 1 and 2 of Defeating the Demon Lord's a Cinch (If You've Got a Ringer) today. It is hilarious. I'd describe it as a crossover between There Was Secret Organisation So I Made One In Exasperation/Saga of Tanya the Evil, as the story is about someone trying to orchestrate things in the background, but it always backfires horribly to great comedic effect.

Every now and then I pondered, if we ever managed to make an accurate and detailed enough simulation of The Big Bang, and then we fast forward that simulation all the way to the modern times, and we can basically see every moment in history that has ever happened from any angle because we have managed to simulate everything.

What would happen when we fast forward the simulation to the moment the scientist ran the simulation and see themselves doing what they are currently doing inside the simulation, and then fast forwarding the simulation to the future beyond that point of time.

Will the simulation ceases to become accurate due to our newfound knowledge of this future that is their destiny? Or will the simulation be able to handle every single variables that this timeline-altering information threw at it that we are simply unable to escape the fate that has been prepared for us that we've learned about from the simulation?

Or are we unable to make such detailed simulation in the first place so that however we learn about what happens in the future, we are bound to ride the train of uncertainty to arrive in that pre-calculated destiny that we have learn about from the simulation?

I looked it up, and the concept of a particle being in multiple states at the same time until it is observed is called superposition.

Is it possible that the simulation will simply use this concept and thus barred us from ever learning what the future holds for us in detail? Will our simulation technology be limited to capturing snapshots in between moments that is exactly guaranteed to happen?

Is our universe literally, simply, are consisting of keyframes? Of one moment to another and so on?

I called dibs on The Keyframe Hypothesis, shoutout to goldengrim for proposing the idea to me years ago on IRC.

^ The thing about the simulation though is that for it to have the whole and correct image of the present it would need the whole and correct image of the past which is simply impossible unless we invent time travel. There is simply too much data that has been either destroyed/lost or rewritten.
I do believe that the Netflix show Travelers has a similar concept though. The plot is essentially: future is terrible so scientists build AI/time machine to fix it. The characters treat the AI like it's basically a god because of the way it can run simulations to predict outcomes. Even though even they admit that the AI is only as good as the data it has access to.

My fire alarm/CO2 detector woke me up at 5am because it wanted the battery changed. :/

I read once that we've managed to simulate the big bang and run the simulation as detailed as the individual galaxies. So it seems that there is a generalized trajectory of some sort for every galaxies, that we can calculate the approximate sum of the effect of countless inconsequential events that happened to all the planets, rocks, dusts, and stars within the galaxy, but not those individual inconsequential events itself, yet.

Now I'm interested in reversing the simulation from our current time backwards to retrieve those missing data, but then it dawned on me that the universe right now is already expanded so vastly that there's simply no way to collect all of that data in le completionist style in the first place.

I really hate apple right now, I would rather learn how to use linux than touch a mac ever again.

My great grandfather passed away today. I can't exactly manage to feel sad, because every time I've visited him in the past two years, he kept talking about how he was ready to go. I've been curating my Instagram algorithm to only show me poster designs so its the only thing that ever appears on my discovery page. But lately, it starts showing me something else in the home page that interests me, but not interesting enough to make me want them on to appear on my discovery page, but it takes all my willpower to resist myself from clicking them because if I start clicking on them, they will start appearing on my discovery page and my life will be in complete shambles because every megacorporate social media app in this world is a black hole of attention-grabbing garbage wrack fest that scams us into ruining our brain and our whole goddamn life.

I want to try to find a good soft bread recipe. I found a really good egg bread recipe (it's red star's btw), but that's a really heavy and dense bread that's more fitting for dinners and such. I want a nice light bread that can be easily toasted and go with breakfast.

Watched Blue Beetle, its good I guess. Definitely was made for casual movie-goers, especially children, they aim for that Everyone/PG-13 rating I think. No cuss words, simple plot, no unforeseen clever twists, some stuff that would raise your eyebrows when you give it more thoughts than the time it actually mattered in the movie. Overall, just a simple and fun action movie really.

There's a post-credit scene hinting a sequel, because, well, every superhero movie is always part of a bigger franchise nowadays.

Also the bread turned out okay. Just okay. It's edible and has a nice taste BUT:

Also also I was watching a video on YouTube of someone presenting squirrels with a charcuterie board which was adorable, but in the middle of the video some blue jays were cawing at each other which made my cat interested. So I turned my screen around so he could watch the squirrels too. He was so keen on those squirrels lol. He kept pawing at the screen and then when the video ended he was truly upset. He kept looking all around my computer trying to figure out where the squirrels had gone.

Its not easy to quit playing a game you love and have friend on.

I remember a video I watched on Youtube a long time ago with the title describing basically just how politician couldn't give simple answers when asked about their opinions on societal problems and what they think about possible solutions, implying that they don't really care about those problems and just in it for the position and money they could sack in their pockets and get away with it. I was in middle school back then, and I thought someone had to have such an insatiable greed and a lack of humanity to decide that they want to become a politician.

The video is basically the politician prefacing their answers with "So here's the thing..." or "There are many factors regarding..." or something like that, and the show's presenter just kept cutting them off before they even delivered their points across to make it seem as if these politicians were incompetent.

I don't remember much about it anymore, but I do remember the feelings I had when watching that video being "Man, gotta be a special kind of bad to become a politician." So I stayed away from anything political during my teenage years, I mean why would I want to watch through something like that.

But lately, I've been getting kinda interested in societal problems, their hypothetical possible solutions and as a result, people who ran for governmental positions that can reliably solve these issues. It taught me that the solutions to these problems are never straightforward, people want them solved, but they don't want to use their brain to think about how one would solve it, more like its too much for an average joe to ponder about, I think.

Its never black and white, but shades of grey. I think its also the problem in Dollars every time someone asked what can they do to make the world a better place, they're expecting grandiose answers, an order of action that they can pool all their resource and energy on to improve the world the best they can. And is disappointed or just outright rejected someone's idea when its something simple like making people's day better, or even their entire local communities. Its like they are unable to comprehend that most people just wanted to live normal lives and sometimes some compliments throughout their days can be consequential way down the line and there is no literal bad guy to fight against because most bad people were bad because their surroundings let them stray off to the deep end and not just because they want to cause misery for the sake of it. We are just ordinary people and we couldn't really do anything consequential at a notice, we can only do them bits by bits and hope for the best. Also doesn't help this place generally attracts teenagers with those kinds of black and white ideologies like I described about the video earlier, critical wall of texts is more often made people click off or just stare the screen instead of responding anything meaningful. I mean, yeah, "dont ramble about things you don't understand." Is the bit that they got correct down to a T, but did they think for themselves why things are the way it is? Did they made the connections and correlations, or did they merely consume?

They say the best leader is one who were reluctant to lead, my father didn't even apply for this job. He managed to pass the selection process for the army in his hometown and the next selection process requires him to go across the states, which is a lot of money for his family at the time. So really, failure is not a choice because he's desperate for that stable income (and working in the army made banks at the time). But he didn't make it through that next test, the result says that he is unsuitable for the army, but this little government-gig suits him and he was really disappointed that he probably had to went through the 5 stages of grief before reluctantly accepting the position that has a lower salary than what he was aiming for. Surprise surprise, a political upheaval occurred in the late 90s and the army is now shit and the goverment-gig my dad has is now more awesome than ever, the salary too.

I've started talking to him about the political landscape of the upcoming presidential election, and he basically told me to always second-guess and to discuss it with others, that many people of interests might sweep their bad dusts under the rug to leverage absolute support for themselves, and it really made me realize that politics is akin to poison that plagues our society.

Does anyone wake up and get a surge of energy to earnestly get up from bed and excited to see what awaits in the new day? Or really, just looked forward to the new day.

Or do we actually have to actively think ourselves into that mindset of looking forward to the new day?

Why can people wake up early and commit themselves into doing self-improvements activity? Why do I sometimes need up to half an hour of downtime after getting consciousness to properly get up from bed, and even then I still can't get my soul properly until about a few hours after I woke up.

The only solution that came to my mind was to get into the shower as soon as I woke up, but my brain rarely ever had the capacity to think that far when I woke up. And because I already wrote about this, it will pop in my mind the next morning, and that is basically the same as actively thinking myself into the mindset I said earlier.

How do you guys manage this kind of thing?

^ I also find motivation very difficult. I have a lot of projects I want to do, but then I wind up not doing anything. Even today I started the day thinking that I wanted to attempt to make soap. Instead I spent like 3 hours on the internet researching how to make cat food (low-key kinda important, but still...) and then after that I just didn't feel like putting effort into anything and just watched some of Lucifer s3 since I have it on dvd (really need to buy the other seasons for that show tbh). About the only thing I did do that was mildly "productive" was try out a new cookie recipe cause I've been desperately trying to figure out how to make a decent cookie cake. And the only reason I even managed to motivate myself to do that was because I have ice cream in the freezer and having cookies and ice cream on a warm summer day is just an absolute delight.
But my soap supplies remain unused, videos unedited, books ignored. Anything that could possibly generate me money simply left to collect dust.

It's honestly kinda interesting on a self-reflective level because I've always blamed my motivation problems on other people, specifically my sister. It's a small house and if you want to do anything you essentially have to put up with another person being present while you do it which can be a bit uncomfortable. I've always been in the mindset that it's not worth the hassle of doing anything if it involves dealing with her, but now that I've had the house to myself for months and all these projects continue to be pushed aside I really have no one to blame but myself.

On another note though I've become much better at budgeting. I was never bad at it before, but that was more because I didn't really have to deal with paying bills. They're all in my sister's name and she would just add them all up and then split the value between us and I'd just give her a lump sum. Now I actively have to pay attention to each utility account and service I'm paying for, watch my usage, etc. I've even made a spread sheet, it's all very adult-ish.

Hi Dollars. I want to ask you about something. I've been visiting /r/collapse for past year, and it seems that things are really going downhill with climate and economy. I am always sceptical regarding online news and I try to see if there's any connection between online news and real world.

In this case, there is.

In Poland where I am from, basic food and drink products went up around 40% in one year. In ONE YEAR. It is scary.

Also temperatures are like 35 degrees Celsius which is not unheard of, but rare here. What's even more rare, there was period of 3 weeks of no rain this summer. It's not happening normally. But what is happening with forest fires in Canada and Australia is even crazier.

It's like we are frog/lobster reaching boiling point - and somehow we are in denial that it is happening.

But hey, maybe I'm paranoid.

That's why I want to hear your perspective on it.

At the start, it's going to be pretty bare bones. Just attack and dodge; no differentiation between different weapons; only 3 enemy types; only stats being HP, attack, and speed; +1 stat per level up; no skills (unless you count dodge;) very little to it. The main draw is going to be the playing as a god, at least until enough stuff gets added to the hero side.

It'll be a somewhat simple system, though different from anything I can think of in an MMO. Maybe one exists and I don't know about it. Basically, gods don't play the typical MMO part of the game. They don't go around slashing goblins or whatever. They basically play an idle game.

They accrue followers to gain influence. Followers can be just arbitrary NPCs that don't actually exist, which give 1 influence per day, actual NPCs that players can interact with that give 3 influence per day, and players, which give 10 influence per day. They can spend influence on boons, basically just buffs for heroes, to entice heroes to follow them (or the occasional fake NPC requesting a boon, like good crops or whatever,) or another special thing I'll explain later.

Gods can also gain influence from heroes donating items and/or gold to the gods. The amount of influence will be determined based on the rarity of the item (actual scarcity rarity, not arbitrary "I want this thing's name to be blue so it's rare" rarity) combined with its gold value. Raw gold may only give 0.1 influence or something, while the singular Evil King's Great Sword to exist may give multiple thousands. Gods will be able to set up an auto-boon thing to give a portion of the influence through donations back to players as incentive to donate.

Gods can also have domains. There'll be a small list of domains they can choose at the start (combat, water, farming, maybe a few others,) or none. Gods who pick an actual domain have more powerful boons in areas related to their domain and weaker outside their domain, but won't be able to change domains, even when new ones are added.

The main reason to play a god is to gain the ability to enact a Divine Edict. In exchange for spending multiple thousands of influence, the gods can choose to add something to the game. This may be magic, skills, classes, new areas, new NPCs, or whatever else they can convince me to add to the game, given how much influence they spent. If they fail to convince me to add it, their influence does not come back, as they "attempted to modify the world with insufficient power," or whatever. Like using up the last gas in your car to try to push another car to the gas station. If you didn't have enough gas for it, you still spent the gas in the attempt.

Some additions may open up new domains, such as someone adding crafting to the game introducing the Forge domain, or someone adding spells introducing the Magic domain, or even someone adding enough new area introducing the Exploration domain or guilds introducing the Unity domain.

Like I said above, mostly been working on a general purpose geometry library for the terrain, especially needed if some god lets players create houses, create fortifications, chop down trees, and/or dig.

I found a new cracker recipe. This will be my second attempt at trying to make homemade crackers. The first attempt turned out atrocious. But this time I actually have a rolling pin and the recipe makes sense. The last one I made called for 4 cups of flour which is actually insane. If this recipe turns out meh I'm going to try one of the recipes that use cream of tartar which is a common ingredient in crackers for some reason.

Also I realized that I really haven't posted anything about what I've been watching. So...
I watched Good Omens s2 which was really good. Much better than the first season imo. The first season had some annoying characters which was a bit of a put-off, but s2 had a great cast of characters. Even the "villains" were fun to watch and I enjoyed the Gabriel ending. Didn't enjoy the non-con kissing between Crowley and Aziraphale (I always saw them as ace anyway), but we'll see how that plays out in s3.

I also watched and read Red, White, and Royal Blue. Both book and movie were great. The movie was very streamlined with a bare bones cast compared to the book, but they got the romance aspects really well and followed the important plot points. My sister bought me the book when I told her about the terrible hold list for library checkout. I think what I like best about the movie was the lack of a 'break-up arc.' In most romance stories the main couple breaks up/separates for some reason or other and then later gets back together after realizing that they prefer being together. While the couple did break up in the story it was more like circumstances drove them apart and they never actually stopped caring about each other while they were apart. It made their reunion seem much more genuine. Some scenes in the movie were really silly though and not well written, but it was still a good watch.

I watched Heartstopper s2 like the day it came out and that was also really good. The character growth and relationship building was very sweet. I can see the plot turning more towards a skam/skins esque story as they delve into more serious topics like mental illness, abusive parents, and sex. I find it rather annoying when I read/watch reviews for the show and people complain about how unrealistic the celibacy between the couples are. But where the story is at in the comic they're sexually active. So it's just a slow burn relationship which I think is realistic for a lot of teenage couples.

Mowed my lawn this morning and I even raked up the clippings (like half of them anyway). While I was outside there was a little kitty too and it was so cute and friendly. It let me pet it and it was just purring and being adorable.

Btw for those curious, my crackers turned out pretty good. I used the "Bigger Bolder Baking" Homemade Ritz recipe. I think my only critique was that the recipe said to roll them out 1/8in thick, but even that was just a smidge too thick imo. Next time I'm going to use the 1/16in bands on my rolling pin and see how that goes.

I wanted to get into rimworld again and I’m on my third day of trying to get to work with all my mods. It takes about an hour for it to start for me to test which mods work. Then again I probably shouldn’t use 400 mods.

I remember writing a wall about Hanasaku Iroha a few weeks ago, did I not post it?

So I read about polyphasic sleep schedule once, in which they cut sleep hours and divide them into multiple sessions throughout the day instead of just getting it once at night.

Recently I learned about sleep cycles, in which the body undergoes a cycle of 4 phases that recovers the body from internal damage wear and tear. N1, N2, N3, and REM, one cycle roughly takes about 90 minutes to complete, and if not disturbed, the body will repeat the cycle again to undergo more recovery until it sufficiently repairs itself.

Typically, someone who only sleeps at night would underwent 4 to 6 cycles. That's around 6 to 8 hours, so with this knowledge, I think people should strive to complete these cycles instead of just focusing on the hours of sleep.

This is because if you are awakened during N3 phase, your body feels awful and you're pissed because the body is in a maintenance mode and wasn't supposed to wake up just yet, nullifying all the time you have spent to reach that phase. The correct way of taking it is to wake up during either REM or N1, at the end or just before a cycle began. Because these phases are when your body is most sensitive to external stimuli, and thus are prone to waking up.

In the case of napping, one should either take at max 20 minutes or a full 90 minutes of sleep time, no inbetween. 20 minutes of sleep means you're getting sleep up to N2 phase, which is both a light sleep phase and a light recovery phase. You can still be easily awakened and you're also getting the benefit of sleeping although partial.

Sure, we also have an internal clock that wakes us up in a specific time when trained, but I hadn't read that part yet. For now, this is what I've found. Will update if I found anything else.

Oh also, I got 5 cycles tonight. Feeling fresh, I don't know if that's placebo effect or the real deal, but I'll keep at it for now.

Trying out a new bread recipe (King Arthur's "Our Favorite Sandwich Bread" recipe). It seems pretty much the same as the last one I used I think, but I for the life of me can't recall where I pulled my last bread recipe from. There's like a million recipes for bread online and I didn't write it down lol. Oh well.

Last night I drove into downtown Tulsa which is the first time I've ever done so (and of course it was raining) and I got to park in a parking garage (also a first for me). I was going to the downtown Central library which is massive. It's three stories plus a basement. If getting there wasn't such a hassle I would love to go there more frequently. I only went last night because they were hosting a small class to paint terra cotta pots and plant some seeds in them. It was really chill. It was an event you had to register for and I know it started off with 12 open slots and by the day of 11 out of 12 were taken, but only like 5-6 people showed up (and that's including the librarians). I guess people didn't feel like braving the rain.

I've recently been having auditory hallucinations that are notification sounds. I wonder why... I never have them on unless its drrr chat...

I hadn't taken proper sleep, just an hour of unconsciousness in the last 38 hours, my body is likely in overdrive mode since about 12 hours ago, and I probablh won't be having a proper rest for the next few days because holy hell did we have one huge mess of a schedule, we're also almost behind schedule, so that's super great.

The thing with campus non academic activities, is that they're non-profit, so whatever its agenda is, it doesn't need to follow regulations on how paid workers should be treated. There are no day-offs, work hours by design can only take our free time for its agenda to be able to be executed, academics usually took 6 hours off from our day, meanwhile my non academic activity takes sometimes up to 13 hours off from my day, that leaves us with only 5 hours of free time. Not even enough for a healthy proper sleep, and I still couldn't believe I'm persevering through this and am okay with it.

Deep down I know its wrong, but man, me and my folks must be some sort of masochist or something to still be willing to stay here.

Gods I've been busy. It's been awful.
One of my coworkers had their house burned down last week and so I've been having to work extra shifts while she takes time off to deal with it. I actually forgot about my mom's birthday because of how busy I've been. I'm gonna invite her over to my place though for food and cake to make up for it lol.

On another note I've been rewatching Cupid (1998). Such a fun series. The 2009 reboot wasn't bad, but the original had such a dynamic cast with the most enjoyable dialogue/banter. Even though I do remember the reboot going over more controversial topics like politics and religion in a relationship whereas the original was a lot of heartfelt fluff for the most part. I've had the thought in my head for years that I would like to write a conclusion to the series since both the original and reboot were cancelled before the plot got resolved, but then I stare at the mess of documents open on my desktop and remind myself that I should focus on my current projects before starting a new one. Oh well, maybe one day.

So I've been accumulating fallen branches and twigs on my driveway for the last 3-4 months and this morning I finally broke them all down and made a neat pile of them for burning. Then I reorganized my garden shed so that I could get to my halloween decorations and put them up around the house. A very productive day imo.

So I tried making homemade gravy. It turned out okay. I got the consistency spot on, absolutely perfect, but it was severely lacking in flavor. At the very least it didn't taste like flour which is the biggest problem you can have with homemade gravy. Mine just literally didn't taste like anything. Definitely something for me to play around with in the future. I'm hopeful that letting it sit in the fridge overnight might bring the flavors out a little bit more.

In other news the Trump Fraud case went to trial today and it has been blowing up all over the news. Half of my YouTube recommended videos is news coverage of it. I'll be very glad when everything is said and done and Trump gets kicked out of New York a much poorer man.

I'm back home, reunited with Dirt, whom I missed dearly. I do feel pretty under the weather though, and not too sure what is the cause. Could be the change in elevation that gave me a headache. Or I could have caught something during my travels. Whatever it is, I hope I recover soon so I can get stuff done.

So scrolling through some old comments and I realized that I never mentioned that I was going to be leaving for Wyoming to help my sister drive back to Oklahoma. My sister and I made theses plans a month and a half in advance and she bought the plane tickets and everything for me to fly up there. Today she decided on a whim to change those plans.
Instead of leaving on the 16th and having a couple days to spend in the park and time to drive back and recuperate from the trip I am now going to be leaving on the 8th and am essentially going to be hitting the ground running. I'm only going to be there a day before we have to leave and then I'm going to be going back to work the day after we return. Kind of annoying that my sister has done this.

I still check this place every day even if I don't talk as much anymore. I was pretty happy yesterday that my brother got me some mudcake for my birthday.

Also I watched Fionna and Cake the other day and it was really good. I was surprised to find that it was clearly made with adults in mind and not children. The little bit of monster hunting we get to see is gruesome and bloody. Completely different than how it was portrayed in the main series. The plot of the series though was really good and was a lot more concise than the main series. I loved that we got a little bit more backstory on Simon and Betty's relationship and an explanation for why Fionna and Cake even exist. A definite must watch for anyone who's a fan of Adventure Time.

Job I accepted offer for and filed all the new hire paperwork for has not contacted me about my start date or anything. I've sent an email asking for an update of if I missed something I was supposed to do on my end, but.. yeah. I'll wait a lil bit, but I think I'm gonna have to start searching again. I've been having a hard time, it really sucks. There's nothing I can do in my situation. The only good thing to come out of it is the inspiration from life and the new nightmares. I'm so glad the week is over. I'm ready for this new week to start.

Already sick of my sister being here. Just now she was nagging me about doing the dishes as if 90% of them aren't hers. Like literally she brought home a bunch of reusable bottles that need washed. And she keeps leaving her stuff everywhere. Literally everywhere. There are empty bean bag chairs on the kitchen floor, the cushion for a porch swing in the living room, bits of memory foam in the hallway... I don't know how I managed to forget how intrusive she is.
About the only good thing about her being here is that she's going to help pay the utilities.

Anyways I have been reading this book series, Eric Carter by Stephen Blackmoore. It's quite delightful. It's an urban fantasy about a necromancer. It's basically everything that I wish The Dresden Files was. DF was interesting, but also incredibly repetitive. You could not binge read those because of how overused the story structures were. Eric Carter though feels like very on the fly writing. You never quite know what's going to happen next and I also like that the protagonist has no qualms about murdering people. And the female characters are not over sexualized and the sex scenes are nonexistent. It's a pretty solid read all around. I'm on the 3rd book out of like 10, but apparently this book wraps up the current story arc.

Also fuck glitter and fuck Christmas. Just as a principle.

In other news my sister tried to lock me out of the house. I had to climb in through the window to get back inside. It's like she pent up all of her psychotic energy for the five months she was gone and is now letting it all out. Very frustrating to deal with.

Also finished book 3 in the Eric Carter series. The internet lied to me lmao. I thought that it was going to be the end of the Mictlan arc and it clearly isn't. Not that I wasn't planning on reading all of the books, but I wasn't expecting to have the third book leave off with so many questions and loose ends.

I finished s1 of Young Justice. It was surprisingly good. I really appreciate cartoons that don't cater to small children. YJ is clearly made with all age groups in mind. I seriously don't know why companies recently have started axing animated shows and are leaning more towards live-action. I like them both. Especially for the super hero genre. It's nice to watch something that looks pretty and you don't have the jarring juxtaposition of practical effects vs. cgi effects.

I was about to post something about me revisiting my files and thus life from 2021, it was awful for the most part, with very few tiny good parts in between.

Also renewed my interest for Reu Borja's songs, also recalled my brief obsession towards a small-time japanese livestreamer by the name Karankaran who sings with her guitar every night on Niconico, thank Jaydon for introducing me to her. I still got archives of her old streams by OBS's help.

Also also, Dollars Day. I flunked my exam to work on Dollars Day. That's why I have a very strong feeling towards it, I poured a part of myself into it. Very smart, I know. But meh, I was gonna drop the whole thing anyways.

I vividly remember all the anxieties I experienced back then, how lonely that year was, how awful I felt almost everyday during those times.

I guess it serves as a nice reminder to why I set foot on this path of pain. Writing this down, I finally remembered, I literally chose suffering over emptiness.

So cheers to everyone and everything that has made me consider not giving up, maybe its about time I write my own actual entry on "Our stories" thread. Or maybe I should wait until I managed to get some trophies, just so I can insert some motivational part to my entry lmao.

It pays pretty well, but once I actually started working as a software engineer, I found the work to be unfulfilling and extremely draining. I hated sitting in front of a screen all day and I hated that many days, I was just waiting for code reviews so I could push my code. I found myself struggling to find motivation to get out of bed each morning. It's just... not the job for me.

I applied to another college closer to home for graphic design and had a full ride scholarship there, but I chose to go to the school further away cause software seemed much more profitable to me. Now I have a lot of student loan debt as well. Idk if I would have enjoyed graphic design as a career since it also has the problem of sitting in front of a screen, but at least I wouldn't be in debt and maybe I would have found more fulfillment doing it.

I ultimately chose profitability over passion and for me, that was the wrong decision. I live a very frugal lifestyle, so I don't need a high paying job. I just need a job that keeps me engaged, and software doesn't do that for me.

It's pretty sad that I felt more engagement from working shifts at a Circle K than as a software engineer, lol

Don't get me wrong, software can be an amazing choice for some people. One of my old coworkers had switched from being a chef (a very high end chef that often worked for celebrities) to being a software engineer and he was MUCH happier doing software. I'm just not one of those people.

Posting this from a 12 year old laptop that still has windows 7, on an open-source browser called Pale Moon that is forked from a Firefox build that still has the old UI design which gives a retro feels.

This potato can barely handle Youtube with all its background tracking tools, and with such a retro browser design, I don't know if its muscle memory or its very design that influenced me, but I thought about making a list of my favorite Youtube song URLs, something that is normal back in the day when internet is still shit.

Internet speed is lightning fast today of course, but with a stone age PC and todays website being overrun by complicated tracking ads and whatever things they're doing in the background, it feels like nothing has changed, we never truly left.

Accessing the internet through this hunk of metal is still just as slow as ever.

There's this museum, the Will Roger's Memorial, that has a small theatre in it and once a month they do a free movie night. This month they played the original Dracula movie from 1931. It was fun. I loved that they just had bat puppets on wires flying around and the actor who played Renfield was super cute imo.
It's a bummer though that most of the other halloween events got cancelled because of the weather. It's been rainy and cold all week so everything outside is a no-go.

Me and my sis watched Our Flag Means Death s2. It was very good, but also very different from s1. The first season was a comedy from start to finish where as the second season was much more of a drama. The show was still very good, just different from what I was expecting.

I also finally watched The Lost Boys which has been on my to watch list for years. I'd seen clips of it on tv and read snippets about it on the internet, but I'd never seen the full movie. It was very good and very funny.
It's such a shame that they don't make movies like they used to. Nowadays movie writers try to cram a whole tv shows worth of plot in a two hour time slot which obviously doesn't work. There also wasn't much interest in character growth arcs which seems to be a requirement for every movie made now.

Made bread and cake today. I also wrote about five pages for one of my stories. Not a completely unproductive day.

Me and sis also watched s2 of Paradise on Max. This is of course a rewatch for me as I watched it over the summer, but I was very keen to watch it again to find any easter eggs or hints (and there are a few). My sister was a bit resistant to watching the series because she doesn't like watching foreign shows unless they can be dubbed (like anime), but after bribing her into watching s1 I got her thoroughly interested in the show and today it was her idea to watch s2. I swear that should be testament to how good the series is.
I'm hoping that I can slowly introduce her to other foreign shows like Ragnarok, The Gryphon, Tierra Incognito, Lupin, Parallels, etc. Heck my sister still hasn't even seen Dark and I swear almost everybody who watches Netflix has seen that series. Truly some of the best series in recent years have come out from overseas. America's movie and tv industry has been seriously lacking and facing too many hardships to produce anything worthwhile.

I tried to like coffee before cause I can only have natural caffeine (the caffeine in sodas and energy drinks gives me migraines). But no matter how it is prepared or what is added to it, I can't stand even the littlest taste of coffee. I even retry some coffee every so often to see if my tastebuds have changed their mind, but nah. Sucks cause tiramisu looks sooo good, but I can never get past that coffee taste.

Hypela, you should try Opera. It still has a (reasonably) up-to-date XP version I use on my old machines. Should run nicely on Windows 7 too. AFAIK Pale Moon is no longer being updated and is not very secure, but I haven't checked on it in a while.

Also watched Good Night World on Netflix which was meh. I guess the story wasn't actually bad, but I came into it expecting a cutesy anime kinda like EdenZero or something, but instead it was really depressing and actually gorey in some places.

I've yet to land a job in a school, but I now at least have a part time job that pays juuust enough to cover my monthly expenses. Not the ideal situation, but I make do. I'm sure I'll have better luck soon when they're really cracking down on hiring for the spring semester.

I can't believe Thanksgiving is just a couple days away... Like it was literally only just last week did I realize the date is coming soon. Weirdly enough I think my complete obliviousness to the holiday can be contributed to the fact that I haven't heard a single Christmas song yet this year. Usually stores switch over to Christmas music on Nov. 1st, but this year it's just the regular music still. It just doesn't feel like the holiday season without the awful music that usually comes along with it.
I'm also not decorating my house or putting up a tree this year because meh. Even though I saw some live trees at Lowes that were super small and cute and I kinda wanted to decorate one of them... We'll see how I'm feeling about it in December.

I watched Akuma Kun on Netflix and thought it was interesting. I liked the plot (the little bit that it exposited) and I mostly liked the art style (everything besides some of the character designs was really cool). Apparently the show is based off a manga that was written in the 1960s. It kinda ends on a cliffhanger though? Maybe it'll get a s2, but probs not because Netflix is stupid.

I'm so tired. I've been working way too much. This holiday season is really taking me out.

Last week I finally finished a story I've been writing in since 2018. It's 500 pages long. It's really just garbage though lmao. The whole thing was definitely a huge learning experience though. I'm glad it's done. It's like a huge weight lifting.
Speaking of writing stuff, Tapas is hosting a competition for novelist to write a romance story, but it's due by the new year. Like even if I wrote something I definitely wouldn't win, but it would be good exposure for my stories, but I also don't know how much I would even get done cause it has to be 40 chapters long...

Anyways, has anyone been watching the new Doctor Who stuff? The first two specials were great. The first one was a bit cheesy in some places, but the second one was really good. I'm excited for the third one to come out this week. I'm so glad that RTD is back. Chibnall was awful, he couldn't write a single decent story during his time. RTD knows how to write a compelling story and he knows Doctor Who. I also love all of the practical effects they've been using for the show instead of cgi. The Doctor Who YouTube page has been posting behind the scenes videos and it's so cool seeing how they built and put stuff together.

On my end, I DO have a doctor's appointment tomorrow. I've had a sore throat for a couple days now, but it's only on one side of my throat. Not hiw sore throats go for me, so I figured better safe than sorry and have it checked out. Also gonna ask about doing blood work to see if I have any vitamin deficiencies that may be what's causing my chronic fatigue.

Watched the last Doctor Who special. Ncuti was an absolute delight. I can't wait for his season to officially start.

Does anyone know if there has ever been a research conducted on the correlation between gadget addiction and UI/UX designs? And has someone created an interface that aims to reduce this 'gadget addiction' phenomenon so that we humans can be in control of our technology once more instead of the other way around. A launcher app in playstore perhaps?

I've been trying to reduce my phone screen time by enabling monochrome screen filter and limiting my options on what apps I can access by using extreme battery-saving mode at all times. Three full days after having the filter on at all times, I turned it off for a bit and my eyes felt like it was bombarded with information, AND THAT'S STILL ONLY THE HOME MENU SCREEN.

Everything I see on my phone is now mostly black and white and gray, including Youtube and Twitter (I got the filter toggle on the volume button shortcut in case I needed to see something that required me to know their colors). I consume contents more than spectacles, so it might sound like the bore-ify monochrome filter wouldn't work at all to reduce my screen time, but no, it actually does help. When no content is being consumed, your phone keeps your attention using its UI/UX color spectacle. So now I doom-scrolled less than before, thanks to the lack of color.

I'm starting to use a pocket notebook and write on them in my free time, a good way to sort my thoughts, I think. Well, better than doom-scrolling in social media, at least.

I think its important to make the distinction between work and non-work related space, both physical and virtual. I don't have monochrome filter on my PC although I am perfectly capable of having it so, and it's because I know I'm going to work on something when I'm using it. With my phone, its a little less clear, you could be productive, or you could waste hours scrolling the social media consuming trash content.

If I want to entertain myself, I'm gonna use Youtube on my TV for the full-colored experience. On mobile, the only entertaining content is oriented more towards audio. And I think that's for the best.

Really, the enlightening point in this little journey is realizing I'm getting bored while using my phone even if there are plenty of contents to be consumed. The color filter literally sucks out the souls of those attention-grabbing demons on social media, and for that I couldn't be more thankful.

Oh, the Dollars BBS site almost doesn't get affected. This place is already monochrome in the first place, so I guess its already taking the right step in combating gadget addiction lmao.

I really hope someone makes that UI I mentioned in the beginning though.

Found a launcher app called Before, with the tagline "Go Minimal". No ads nor tracking software, just a launcher that limits the stuff you can access on your phone. Everything is still accessible, just not as easy and enticing as it once were. It even has a notification filter.

Its free and usable as is, although there is a premium mode that can be purchased once and gives more options.

Gonna try using this one for a bit, see how it panned out.

i don't have a new year's resolution

Last Wednesday, Dirt had a big fall and landed awkwardly. She hid away and growled every time she moved and had a very bad limp. Took her to emergency vet and had xrays done. Luckily, no breaks! But the vet did determine that it's a soft tissue injury. We were sent home with pain meds and an anti-inflammatory.

A bit more than a week later and she is doing pretty well. I have her locked up in my room 24/7 to try to restrict her activity. Which was a good choice because she very much wants to resume her normal activity, lol. She still has a noticeable limp, but it's soooo much better than it was last week.

Idk how I'm gonna keep her contained for another 3 weeks. She keeps trying to leave the room every time the door opens. I don't blame her, but it's for her own good!! She needs to rest!!!

(As I was typing this, she was making biscuits on my tummy and purring loudly.)

Have I mentioned that I've been watching a lot of Disney+ shows.
Percy Jackson has been pretty decent, but I don't want to say too much on it since the season hasn't finished airing.
Tierra Incognito's s2 dropped though and that was great. It felt like it came to a very satisfying conclusion, but the show hinted that they were interested in a s3 with a post credit scene so maybe/maybe not they will continue that story. Who knows? It's hard to keep up with what foreign production companies are doing. And speaking of...
I watched Knights of Castelcorvo which I really liked. I liked how the relationships between the kids seemed very genuine and was important to their characters. The story itself was very fast paced though which I kinda didn't like. Even though admittedly the show is for little kids and so I can see why they didn't want to stretch a sub plot over multiple episodes, but it would have been better if they had to draw out suspense. I really hope they do a season 2, but I seriously can't find any info on production status. I went to Google's Italian server, but they insisted on still only showing me American websites (I didn't feel like trying to turn off location services or going into privacy settings to see if that would change the results), then I went to the French Wikipedia server and that also had very little info on production and broadcast, and then I went to the production company's website and they had no info whatsoever on the show. Very frustrating.

I am flunking my exam yet again for another non-academic art project...

I cut out the art from the boxes of the Miku figures I get with the intention of framing them and hanging them up on my wall. They are very awkward sizes tho, and very different from box to box. So, I am making them some 8x10 backgrounds to make them all the same size, and will fit in the frames I have.

I watched Mila in the Multiverse the other day. It is not a Marvel show btw, it is very good. I was super hyped when they introduced a character that was neurodivergent and I saw that he was going to be part of the main cast. I was absolutely ecstatic when I watched and realized that he's the main character's love interest. Like seriously when does that ever happen? Neurodivergent characters are usually regulated as background or side characters that only exist so the show can claim to have diverse representation. Their characters don't actually have anything to do with the main characters usually. I'm very hopeful that they do a second season.
