Well religion is beliefs. Yet all the so called holy scriptures have been rewritten and reprhased. A lot is changed in translation too. Opinions were injected about how someone viewed a passage as well.

I think there is a God, but not the kind described solely by one religion. I think all religions share the same truth. The idea of heaven is flawed too, but the afterlife makes more sense from a Buddhism standpoint.

My family is Christian and when I have been young, I believed everything that was written in the Bible. I still believe in God, but I don't take the Bible so serious now. I think that some things must be true, some basics. But I also think that people invented things too and half of the Bible could be a created story. I don't know much about the other religions but I think it is similar. This is why I don't believe in a religion, I only believe in God. But I think religions are still important because they are part of our tradition and culture and we shouldn't give up on them.

There is no possibility science is religion. Science in itself tries to explore and explain phenomena. There are very little true all around facts. Even Newton's laws were not, and still not, absolute. Einstein modified the equations to make them more true. True scientists enjoy looking for the wrong things on their hypothesis, while most religions omit the inaccuracy or wrongness in the belief. Science openly accepts criticism.

Philosophy isn't religion due to the constant debates, which no one fully believed their view is the only correct one. There is religious topics in philosophy, but there is no consensus of what is right.

Religion is a blind faith. I'm not saying it's wrong but it is based solely on beliefs, mainly a single one. A lot of religion has it that if you don't believe what they do you will go to hell. This is wrong as it forces people to shove their inaccurate beliefs down others throats.

There is no such thing as one true religion/belief. That is why I think almost all religion is right too. There is similar ideas and beliefs shared among them too.

Okay, I've been reading and keeping up with this for a while, slowly getting more and more annoyed for three reasons.

The first reason is that, this still isn't really a topic for the person board. This is closer to a topic for the random board. Religion may be "an important part of the personality" but at the same time, it really isn't for a lot of people.

The second reason is that no one is actually reading what everyone else is saying properly, and just replying how it suits them after a brief read of the opposing argument.

And last, but not least, the most important fact. Everyone believes different things. I'm an atheist, I used to live in an Islamic country, my old best friend was Jewish, I went to a christian school and I learnt, that frankly it doesn't matter. What other people believe in is their personal choice. I will agree with Chronos at this point in saying that you are free to believe in your own religion as much as you want, but trying to force others to join your religion is just complete and utter bullsh*t.
Similarly, I acknowledge that there is many people out there who were saved by religion, and have been religious since then. I don't think religion is a bad idea, I think it is a very good idea in fact. It gives people a choice, most of the time, and offers an explanation to things that even science can't properly explain.
Similarly, science itself could be counted as a religion. If you search religion up on google, one definition you get is "a pursuit or interest followed with great devotion." If you follow science with great devotion, then it could be counted as a religion. Again, it offers explanations to things that we otherwise wouldn't know about.
