I just got catfished. On Steam. (13)

So I recently just got "catfished" on Steam. Let me explain. I was playing CS:GO with a couple of buddies of mine and were just having a good old time. When I noticed there was a girl playing with us, well, I did what any guy would do. I messaged her saying gg and added her because she seemed pretty chill. (the thirst is real) So we talked for a bit, I told her my name and that I like anime, etc. She then asks me what I looked like so I just changed my picture to my face and that was that. She called me cute and was very eccentric to talk to me. She was nice but I barely knew her so I tread lightly.
A few minutes later I see she removed me and apparently blocked from contacting her on there. I realized what went up so I got my hacker friend to help me out and turns out that the profile "she" was using was a duplicate. Along 4 others using the same picture. I was happy and sad at the same time. Happy because I thought I got hacked but didn't just in time. And sad because, she wasn't real. I just didn't understand what happened. I can't get her out of my head now. It's stupid I know, but I was wondering if any of you guys had an experience like this or similar via online. Your comments would be much appreciated. :)

No, I fucking piss on anything virtual, that's how much I care about unreal relationships, what's more when you barely know someone.

If you had something worth more you wouldn't care, and that's basically what you should get.

>>2 I'm not for it either. lol The fact that it happened to me makes me mad now. I just found out it was a guy using it to do trade on there because his original account got banned.

I just have this problem where I want to be accepted by people and not have this void in my life. (Really long ass story, not going into it now). That's why I go after something that maybe fantasy. It's wrong I know, but I do know what's real and what's not.

>>3 Yeah, exactly, that's why you should long for sure things, mostly in real life. You have to fill that emptiness you feel.

>>1 you are infatuated. you'll get over it. And you should be careful on the net. Also if your lonely go out and make friends, improve your social skills, and yes it is a "skill" because it takes failure and a lot of practice to be able to make friends and keep them.

>>2 Don't you dare hate on internet relationships. They can be real whether you believe it or not. Some of my best friends are online. And I can guarantee you that those relationships are just as precious to me as ones in person.

>>5 I don't hate them. What I mean is that I don't care about them, that I might just piss on virtual/internet relationship, but that's only about myself. There are a few people I've talked to for years and am probably closer to than most IRL, but I might as well say farewell to them right now, I've always been ready for that, since it's only the internet afterall, and people I won't get to meet.

Knowing about what happened to you makes me guilty. I used to Online date ( not the kind where you talk online then meet up somewhere to do this and that) Many girls I met online, are dumped or got bored with their Boyfriends who never see them for who they are. I just talk normally to them and stuff, cheer them up, and they have fun talking. Once it comes to the question " when will I meet you? I want to see you." I lose the courage to answer back, and just cut off connections, or say let's just be friends.

>>5 I do have a social life and have gone out with girls irl in the past. This whole ordeal was just a shitty encounter with some person. Thanks for the advice regardless.

>>7 I've realized dating online is really unhealthy for you and the other party. You just don't really know the person like you would in real life and that can hurt you. This little experience I had proved it. I know exactly what you mean when you would cheer them up or talk to them. I used to do that and it stressed me out so much and felt like I had no time for anything. That's why I agree with Katsono now on the fact that a relationship online is nothing compared to reality.
