Need Help with a Book (10)

This could go in the personal and literature boards, so since I need as much help as I can get, I posted this in what seems to be the more viewed board.

So, as the title implies, I am writing a book. It's a fantasy novel, and may be a series told from the viewpoints of several different characters.
The book/series is about a war between two clans. One clan, the Suzukis (which rebelled against another called the Trucido clan eons ago), is taken over by a cruel eh... dictator, if you will. A smaller group run by the dictator's sister, the Shibuya clan, rebelled against the dictator. I plan to write the book or series over the war, and tell the story of it. I'm not sure if I should just try for the series, and do it that way with each personal story, or if I should just do one book.

What do you guys think I should do with this? I realize this is probably pretty vague, but any and all help would be appreciated. A lot.

Make a book with some minor holes in the story so if once finished people want another, you can fill those holes, or you could make it an open story, so even thought the first book is done you can add more contente by making a sequel or a prequel.

Alright... If I do just one book, should I do different viewpoints? If so, then I'm thinking of just giving the chapters the names of the person who the chapter revolves around.

If your going to do different viewpoints, do your best to make sure its not choppy from the constant changes. I would do at most 5 different viewpoints but if you have the talent to do more than go for it.

You should repost this in Literature. While you may get more replies here, you'll get more qualified advice in Literature.

You can do multiple view points in a single book, it is common, and typically broken chapter by chapter.
Depending on your writing quality, and style I would say 2-5 perspectives, 3 would be a good middle ground, and 5 being kinda hectic.
I love when I read a book and there is (for example) two perspectives going on chapter to chapter, and then the characters meet up and it continues from one perspective. As for who's view you would take in this situation, that leads on to my next bit of advice.
I would advise that you have one person you may call the main character, if you are doing multiple books, you can do different main characters for each book. for the first few chapters, stick with the 'main character's' point of view. this allows you to draw the readers into your world much easier. After the premise is set, and more characters are introduced, you can safely jump to each separate PoV without confusing people so much.
As for your story itself, if you want more than say, 2 POVs you will need more than one book, or at least it will be a massive book.
On a side note are you Canadian, if so I have a friend that is an editor for 'Edge Publishing', the largest fiction publisher in the country, I can ask them for advice if you get lost at any point. Sadly I am not online to often, so if you do reply it may take me some time to get back to you. I wouldn't suggest depending on me, as sad as that sounds.
BTW the boss of 'Edge' is Brian Hades (not so sure on the first name, but Hades as in the Greek god) he goes to writing Cons all around the country, that's how my friend got the job, so you can also just lie and say you met him at one i guess
