The failure of revitalization (11)

1 Name: collection : 2024-09-12 05:23 ID:FvUSWuaT [Del]

there's many people who start a thread with the purpose of revitalising the dollars to be a part of a group like the dollars

so I ask you:

why do these projects fail? in your experience what things do they fall short on that lead to their failure?

I answered this question a few times throughout the years since 2021 lmao

What do you guys think?

Well, to put it simply, people aren't being clear with what they want. They want to fix the place, but that requires time and effort, which most people are very hesitant to give away.

Their wants ended right there, it never spun into action. And even if it did, they need the passion and patience to withstand the deafening silence of the site's forum, it would feel like no one is listening to them even though they already put themselves out there in the open. They need to keep going even when hardly anything is going, when progress seemed non-existent day-by-day, they need luck for the right folks to stumble upon their thread with their little dream just to even have a chance of building this foundation of a community with that mission they envisioned.

The regular posters nowadays are patient, but not passionate in a way that these failed pioneers are. They still regularly make appearance around the site, but they've been here long enough to see the same patterns over and over again. The idea of revitalizing Dollars is nonsensical, there's nothing to resurrect, they're all alive, well, and we're all here still posting every single day. If anything, people should stop making call to action threads and just use the site normally. Make threads, reply to threads, INTERACT WITH THE COMMUNITY.

what's some of your favorite ways to interact with the community on this site?

Used to frequent in IRC, so much so that I resurrected it after no one used it for literal years. I don't have much free time to do that anymore though, so what remained is my presence on RTT over on Random board.

I'm in a discord channel, I like the kitchen and other chats there.

Maybe I'm too extreme in thinking that a complete redo of this forum would be good. Like just simplify it for its primary goal. Remove all of the extra channels like "games, literature, music, personal" and just keep it to "missions" only. I think everyone who wanted to come here came with that goal in mind. There's already enough channels talking about all these off-topic things - but we want a place to come and change the world one step at a time. Keep it focused and not overwhelming with so many options.

Spot on. People who don't have the patience to wait for a response (which could take days, weeks, and sometimes months) don't visit regularly and when they visit the site every 5 months it sure looks dead because they only see new things here every 5 months.
Sure, the site isn't as active as someone who just watched the anime would think but it's definitely not dead.

In the anime they actually use the chatroom more than the Dollars' site and I think people tend to conflate the two, making it look like they use the Dollars' site more than they actually do.

I think a big issue is that a lot of people joined with the expectation to suddenly be a part of this huge active community, but are unwilling to put in the effort to interact enough for that to happen. Plus, when we started out, people were pretty good about setting up missions for people to do charity work, meet-up, etc, but that has kinda died out. Of course, the internet is more dangerous these days so I understand why events like this are no longer as attended or suggested

same, i think this website needs to be reworked, internet evolved so much over these years that such concept as threads and answers are no longer viable

>>10 I have an idea, but I will lay it out in a post later. I think this website needs a new beginning, but then again, who the hell am I hehe
