Inspired by Kony2012, April 20th, 2013 was the first day the Dollars' planned to advertise en-mass. The original thread was lost, but we can always start anew.

The night of April 19th, Dollars' around the world will put up posters, leave notes, and share the site in general. Missions can also be done during or around this time for further promotion.

I'm personally not a big fan of this Mission, especially considering the second season is this year, but seeing as people are trying to turn Dollars' Day into its equivalent anyway, I figured I'd revive this to redirect those posts to.

Enjoy it. Feel free to discuss ideas, share your posters, etc here in the thread. Check out the Propagation thread for more ideas.

I like the idea. Not just the fact of spreading the site in order to get more people, but the fact of letting the world know about us (without really knowing much) is something i do really love! I think this is something we should all work for that days.

I liked that idea so, tomorrow I'm starting a poster-advert designe about Dollars to start posting it the April 29th. Maybe for next weekend it'll be finished and posted here for sharing. Let's see what happens and hope you'll like it.

I think if a good idea for a sticker would be just the dollars logo and a simple phrase like "Let Us UNITE." or something else that is equally vague but still has an impact.

I think this is a good idea. Letting the world know we're here doesn't mean we give up transparency. Transparency is about giving everyone a chance to be themselves, without having to commit to a color or way etc right? Keeping anonymousness may be a concern, but the good part about being a Dollar is that in the end, it's our choice on what to do. So I say, let's do it!

I think our transparency lies in that fact that we could be anyone and everyone, doesn't necessarily mean the group has to be a secret.

I thought Dollars Day was originally on June 19th? (The day when Reltair opened this website into public?). If it was, does Dollars day change every year? I can't clearly remember if this is a separate day or not, because last year, there also was another Dollars event all for the propogation.

The only thing we have to be careful with is to try to not show ourselves as an illegal street gang. We don't want to risk getting people killed just from advertising this site.

I don't think that will be the most effective day to advertise the Dollars, considering it's basically "Weed Day". Also, I think to reduce the number of unsavory characters who become aware of the Dollars, that we should only spread it via word of mouth.

¿What do think of it?

i like the poster, and its close to what i was thinking. while that poster is ok for an online poster, it is unrealistic for paper or hard copies. white ink on black paper is very hard to read, not to mention expensive to print anywhere. and if you printed it on white paper that's a big waste of ink.

I've got a business card template if anyone wants it. I plan to use it whenever I do a mission (e.g. leave it lying around, give it to someone etc.). I'll post the template later.

A couple of things before using these:
1.) Firstly, this is not my idea. This idea has been mentioned in a past thread that has now been deleted in the clean-up (or so I presume as I haven't been able to find the original template). This is just my version.
2.) If you leave them outside, make sure whatever you print on is bio-degradable (As mentioned by Barabi in a previous post). If they're given to someone or left inside, then I suppose it shouldn't matter as much.
3.) It would be better for these to be printed on some sort of card so it lasts longer. Printing on paper would be a waste of time in my opinion.

Furthermore, you'll notice I left out the password. In my opinion, this was necessary so that we don't have every Tom, Dick and Harry entering the site. If anyone is that genuine or willing to join, then they'll be able to research the password pretty easily. It also makes the whole idea seem a little more exciting :P

I've already started doing some Dollars deeds at my school (like leaving two dollars under keyboards with a logo card that has my email address on it, and also doing the same thing in the soda machines at the student store), and although I don't think that it's caught on quite yet, I think I'll do more deeds than usual on the 19th before I leave the school, and maybe post some things around my apartment complex OuO

If you'd like to Takada, Facebook is one way for people to spread the word. However, I think there are several Dollars Facebook pages already up. If you'd like you can spread the word about what the Dollars are and what their goal is. I really like this idea. It kind of reminds me of what the Dollars were created for in the first place.

I like the idea of spreading it and letting the world know about us but... Wouldn't it be something bad at the same time? I mean, maybe there are some people that can use the chance to "join" and start doing bad stuff or just ussing our name for that (for those who seen Durarara, is an example) There's good and bad people, so there are some that will approach this for their own benefit. I think with the coded password it will be easier to weed out those who really want to join dollars and those who don't. People who don't really care won't put as much as effort in decoding the password and in the end just give up and ignore it.

I don't think it's a good idea..however that's just my own opinion. Our identiy have to remain unknown and giving out the password to random people could possible plummet our good reputation which could cause various amounts of problems. I think people should just find out about The Dollars by watching Durarara themselves and let their own curiousity lead them here.

By what I've noticed the Dollars seems to be more of a group that wants to make a change but doesn't know how to more than just some anime fan page for Durarara. There are all kinds of people here, some who like Zero said, haven't even heard of Durarara. I think that we should spread the word. I think that's a good idea, leave out the Dollars logo and the password to the site on the 48 hours from April 18 night to the night to April 20, let people know about the dollars!

I mean if we could do what they did get a group and start cleaning up the local area but the flaw to that you half to ask for permission to share personal information . Do like the my highschool ROTC just start post local events for community service so no one has to know who's who ? If that makes scence

honestly, i think that word of mouth and accomplishing missions are the best way to get known around town, leaving the logo as a signature after cleaning a graffiti for example, if someone asks you just tell'em you're the dollars, if they ask what you do, tell'em you usually chill at the website and sometimes meet up to do stuff. because that's what the dollars are basically, they stay around, most of the stuff you do is because you felt like it, not because it is a member's duty. does anyone agree? sorry for the long post

I'm in, all the way. I met a fellow Dollars today, because I happened to be on the site. This is a good idea to get publicity but still remain anonymous and colorless. I'll be putting up sone posters in my area!

Just saying to the people that are sharing, are you guys gonna give away the password?

Those in the dollars will know the password, we shouldn't need to "give it away"

The people that will come to this site will think that this is a serious thing, but when they come and stay for a day or two in this site they will leave. The amount of dumb people and wrongs post are high.
There is a group of nerds that do the same but better (they are in first on Tab for a Cause).
I mean... I'm out.

Another idea comes to mymind. When we did post those poster, you can photo the posters and post it to FB or twitter with some kind of hastag lije #Dollarsday or something like that. i think that will be trend topic and the world will recognize us ;3

Why don't we just spread the word "The Dollars", anyone who recognises it or is interested will come looking and if they have the password it will just mean more members for us I guess!! I'm not completely opposed to the idea, but I think it will be easier to spread the word, not posters!!

Great idea i think, would be great to see a Dollars tag or sign somewhere. Stickers i say, leave them around gas stations, bus stops, smoke shops.. FB would be kool to use as well.

Aussie Dollars are in! When I get back to school (in two weeks) I will be sticky-taping posters and notes in the bathrooms at school. (Probably with the same "Find a member, get the password" idea).

THis is a great idea.But we should not just give the password like that,there will be no mystery then and people will not be interested.From my point of view we should use QR codes to redirect them to this site or give leaflets or cards with the URL.

I'm in. I'm the only Dollar in my direct area though so, I don't know how much I can do to get the word out but I'll do what I can.

Just a surprise but why is it 420? XD and I'm not quite into this thing where we "GO OUT THERE" claiming what we are supposed to be. Aren't we supposed to be "transparent" you know, "working behind the scenes". Personally I think being transparent is best for the safety of everyone.

I SUGGEST WE ANONYMOUSLY POST (text random phone numbers) "DO YOU WANT TO BE IN THE DOLLARS?" with the Dollars logo, something like that and if they said yes that's when we give them the link and the password.

I like how everyone has different plans about this. Mine would be slipping in tiny little flyers in people's bags at uni or putting them discreetly on their desks while they're not looking. I like this idea, but if you put the password on we could get alot of spammers, hackers, and idiots. If the password does not go on the poster, only people who truly want to join will take the time to find out the password and join.

This idea is really cool. I plan on making some posters and putting them around town.

I think we should do this on a constant basis, for those who take public transit, it's very easy to simply drop a little 2 inch by 2 inch dollar sign on the bus seat. Or get stickers and stick them around.
