Well there was a little kid in the store the other day who wanted to ride the mechanical horse,but didn't have a penny to ride it. So I reached into my coat pocket and gave him a penny. His face lit up so much and he just smiled at me, I kinda blushed because my friend teased me saying: "awwww how nice of you". My reply: "I'm not heartless. Most of the time."

Sleepology, if you think it's stupid, keep your mouth shut. It shouldn't matter so long as it's in the same forum. But anyways... my missions?
Make people smile, go to charities to help for christmas, make sure the gang in my apartment doesn't do anything bad... and yeah, things like that. <3

your stupid sleepology but more to the point this is to record and set an example of simple missions that literally anyone can do.

I kind of agree with sleepology though. It's not really so much setting an example as it is becoming a personal self-righteousness binge for all parties involved.

If I did a good did, I wouldn't post it here. In my opinion, good deeds are not things to be recorded as you go, they are just things you do out of your own character. Some may feel better by posting in public things they have done in their community, but to me that's a dirty sort of accomplishment.

Bear in mind that this is merely an opinion, as was Sleepology's. It's hardly within your right to tell him to keep his opinions to himself when they are valid, although to be fair he didn't really elaborate. In any case, I am not saying this thread is defunct either - I just disagree with it.

Well I disagree I have just coverd 3 12hour shifts for my boss who is in jail and honestly I want to brag about it.

On December 24th I took a train with a few more friends to Madrid and spent the day giving hot coffee and biscuits we had prepaired to the people who, given the current situation, had lost their jobs and so their homes, having to spend our fabulous holidays on the streets without any shelter.

We had a great time talking to them!

I have a friend at work who has been through a lot and her recent relationship has hit a rough spot and she is feeling pretty bad. I also have a friend who has been in and out of the hospital lately, she had a minor stroke and they are still trying to figure out why. So I am making some paper star bottles to give them with a little note, and hope that will make them feel a bit better~♥

I gave some spare change to a homeless man in a "ghetto community." Instead of trying to encourage my friends to do the same by setting an example, they said I was gonna get mugged.

I always try to strike up a conversation with homeless people when im downtown; everybody just walks past them like they dont exist so i think its important for them to know you know that they are there, even if i cant talk for long, i at least say hi

Before school ended, I went to the library with a pile of sticky notes and wrote inspirational messages on them from the dollars and put them in some of my favorite books. A couple of my friends saw me and asked what I was up to, I told them to read the book and find out.

yesterday i help a women push her car to her apartment another random stranger helped, my lil cousin knocked down some stuff at a store i picked up all the things but left the stand alone cuz i didnt know how to assemble it

a girl broke down on the road so i pulled around front hooked up a tow strap and brought her and her car to the gas station up the road im a mechanic so i took a look the lower radiator hose was blown wasnt a drop of coolant in the thing there was a panera and a an advance auto in the strip of stores so i bought her some lunch and then got her a new hose and filled it with fresh coolant

one i was at a park and a kid crashed on his scooter he was about 7 or 8 he was bleeding from his eye lips and gums, i might not have been the first one there to him but i was the only one to help him i picked him up and carried him home was luckly only across the street, last i herd of him he was doing fine there was nothing majo wrong with him

There was a time where i was going to a one day only seminar and as i was heading there i saw a girl bump into someone and drop all her stuff. the guys that bumped into her started laughing and walked away. i helped her while glaring at the guys, i told her thats is ok because she was starting to cry, she thought she was going to be late. knowing i was going to be late (it wasnt to bad i didnt miss much) i helped her up and walked with her. luckily she was heading to the same seminar but i would have stayed with her if she was heading somewhere else anyway

A couple of my friends and me have gotten together and joined the Dollars. In our little sub-group we're going to try to anonymously recruit a heap of people from our school. I'm doing the same, except over Instagram. I make signs kind of in the form of street art in different places such as on the edge of a highway(I kind of lost that one tho :c) to train stations, to simply writing on a mirror. I'll post some pics later :3

I have been going to a nursing home recently(Keep in mind, my grandparents have all passed) and hanging out with the retirees until around 6:30 (It gets dark around 6:45).
I also volunteered at a homeless teen shelter this Wednesday, amazingly I saw people I know.

My class and I for graduation went and hung out with veterans from Vietnam and desert storm. Had a blast, so did the veterans. Hosted a bingo night for them. Nice to see smiling faces

Four people from my AP Theate class (including myself) went to go put up a christmas tree for the Special Ed class in my highschool, we also helped them make X-mas ornaments XD Never have I met such wonderful people :)

One day I went for a walk around my town and high-fived everybody I passed, some people gave me awkward glares but most people went with it, I had lots of fun!

I've talked with my one teacher for a program called Aevidum. It's a Latin term which means "I've got your back". Anyway, it's a depression awareness group, but the group has ranged to like eating disorders, cutting, etc. I'm hoping the dollars in the area and Aevidum will team up soon because honestly I can't think of a better team. (Note: I am not simply handing out the password, the only way they may get it is if I genuinely know that they are fully prepared to be a dedicated member to us)Other than that it's basically just community service. Great work to all of you who have posted already and who will soon be posting.

Well I added our motto at the end of a speech I had to do in front of the whole school on Harmony day and I wrote our motto on pieces of paper in envelopes and then go into town and handing out letters to people I meet. It's really good fun the reactions that some people give me are really amazing. It feels as if i made a bond with them. I went back to a few places and this receptionist I met got so curious about the random act I did decided to research the dollars (I wrote who it was from on the message) and is now a member :P
Also, this other girl named rachel showed her message to her boss and they now have it in the pin up board at the back of their work.
AHAHAH I love going out and doing stuff like this :D

I try my best to talk ppl outta suicide, and I have made many true friends as a result:) I know alot of cutters (or should i say, ex-cutters) and it is truly amazing to see someone who was once broken, and felt like there was not a single little sliver of hope in the whole world, actually smiling now, enjoying what they once thought they hated. :) Sometimes it seems like a waste of time, and sometimes I hate myself for being sleep deprived and missing school bc I woke up late, but then I remember the reason why I'm tired. And, let me tell you, I would pick tiredness over energy any day, bc my sleepless lights are someone else's prayer come true.

I had my caseworker sign me up for a summer program. We will be volunteering at the homeless shelter, an animal shelter, and a children's hospital. Also this week me and my friends held a small concert in our schools library for the MD ( mentally disabled ) kids at our school. They all seemed to enjoy it.

I drove down to Chicago with a bunch of my friends, we stayed there for 7 days helping out at homeless shelters, soup kitchens, and poor neighborhoods. It was an awesome experience and I met so many people, Chicago really is an awesome city as long as your not wearing a color.

My story's not particularly interesting, but I feel I should share. I went to an assembly type thing at my college; 24 of them are mandatory. As I went to sit down, I noticed the chair next to me was broken. The back of the chair was entirely snapped off and placed in an awkward position in the middle of the seat. I attempted to re-attach the back and sat in that chair to deter other people from hurting themselves. After the assembly, I went back to my room and grabbed my black Duct Tape and a silver sharpie, returned to the room, and tried to create a temporary solution. On tape on one side of the taped chair back, I wrote "Broken chair is broken. Use caution when sitting", and on the other side's tape, I drew our insignia. I hope the chair is replaced soon, but I did what I could with what I had to at least provide a warning to whomever may sit and a signal to those in maintenance to identify the chair.

This summer my case worker is signing me up for a program where we get to help out the local animal shelter as well as the local homeless . I started Operation: Black Rider, Saving Sandy,Punish the Deed not the Breed, Get Inked, and others. I am participating in those as much as is possible.

Maybe I should post something in the introduction section. It's nothing much but that's all of the productive things I have done lately.

Well, it seems like I've done a lot lately, to me that it is, in my opinions.
About somewhere on the month of April or February, I've put up a poster "Take What You Need!" at my swim club. Immediately, after just 5 minutes, 2 have already taken! I felt so happy. ^^ but in the end the staffs took it off and I didn't get to see my results D:
Later on, I've posted one at the library. Unfortunately, I left it there for a week later so it must've been taken down already. But I'm sure someone took at least a slip. ^^
My cousin, has been cutting herself lately. So I decided to use the butterfly game. To my surprise, it actually works! And later if she continues, I got another plan up my sleeves. And mostly that's all....and I've been doing petitions and FreeRice too. I'm proud of myself ^^

I've participated in Operation: Lovely Virus today. So far I've posted "/watch?v=AfVi9ZsO6vE - The Dollars" at the end of a heartfelt comment on two notecard project videos so far that haven't been touched. Well...Today before I left to go home I took some of pages I printed out that I made myself that had the Dollars Logo and a quote and stuck it around my classroom. I simply made the Dollars note with the paint program. Before I left a lot of people in my classroom started staring at them and talking to people and telling others to come and take a look at what I had stuck around.

btw if anyone has any other ideas I could use that is similar to what I used that would be awesome because today was my first time doing it and I'm willing to improve it so even MORE people will start to stare at it!

Ah, everytime one of my friends or just someone I know is going through a hard time or just needs advice comes to me for a shoulder to cry on or for some advice.
Ive set up a relationship that is still lasting and got one of the people in the relationship to stop self harming.

Also, when school starts back up, im going to do my best to stop the bullying issue and have speeches and meetings and such with the school board about said issue.

About a month or two ago I helped a girl not commit suicide and even showed her ways to cope with her emotions. I have her alternatives instead of cutting. I don't know if this counts but I felt like I saved one more person from killing themselves. I felt good about myself. :)

I did the Dollars Posters long term in several locations all over the state. (WA)I also did the Restaurant Smiles mission that I made... I put a $1 bill on vending machines with a note inside a baggy saying to have the snack on us... signed, The Dollars. :) Then, I got with my Dollars friend and we did the chalk writing on roads n sidewalks in a few neighborhoods. WOO DOLLARS!!!! xD Oh, I also talked 3 ppl out of suicide, and several more out of self harming. :) All that takes is time and empathy. Anyone can do it!

I'm a girl, youngest in my class. And when I was in 9th grade 2 of my classmates were having a fight. And they were huge guys lol and I was so small XD
I just step between them and I asked them to stop it. And they did.
The problem was with the rest of my classmates. They were having fun seeing those 2 having a fight. Apparently, the guys fighting were best buddies since kindergarten. I didn't knew that at that time, but I couldn't see them having a fight.

I have been slipping notes into people's lockers at my school to show them that there are people out there that do care, and then I opened up one of the unused lockers on the top and made it into a beautiful scene in which there are oragami cranes, pictures of people everyone knows and glitter and gingerbread houses :) I had my friends help me with it :D

I leave notes in random places. Notes of inspiration. It's gone well so far. :D

I just got back from a 3.5 hour car clearing spree where I cleaned the snow off of as many vehicles as I could at my college. I wanted to do them all, but physical limitations and below-freezing temperatures conspired against me ;A;

In my first class we have a bible verse and a quote of the day. I asked my teacher if I could write the quote for today. It says the motto we have.

Well, I'm a member of a huge group called the Sierra Club, and we basically do things to protect the Earth, from small things like picking up litter, to big things like fighting to protect hundreds of acres of forests from being turned into factories :) I also founded a small group that does something similar to the Dollars, but we aren't very big yet.

I once went to the neighborhood park at night and stuck sticky notes everywhere with motivational messages. The next day, I went back and made a music video with VideoStar XD

I've been helping my friends with their English and IT classes. I also help out my teachers and staff sometimes. I recently joined my city Operation Snowball crew. We're getting ready for a one-day camp for 1-4 graders :)

I stepped up and urged my friend to get counseling for his depression by putting stick notes where I knew he would find them, he's doing well.

4/5 of my exs along with a couple other people had serious depression i brought them out of. then upon that i helped them make friends and develope a new lifestyle without cutting or suicidal thoughts. then of course most of them i couldnt keep up with (think about all your friends plus 7 people whod otherwise be very attached to you and a girlfriend and everything else) but i spent months of hours staying up till 4 in the morning doing this, and im proud that i helped so many people. now im enjoying continuing my life recovering from such a lifestyle of being so involved with these people and i encourage you to try and help someone around you whos having a hard time to talk to em a bit, but dont be pushy! pushy means push them away and just being a happy positive friend who loves them can do a lot. if any of you wanna contact me maybe just to have a new friend or something you can email me at n.torc@ymail.com or kik me at torc24 and ill be glad to talk but i cant do what i did coz i really dont have the time :/ i wish i could

back in high school there was a guy who was said to have suicidal tendencies. nobody actually took him seriously, and me and my friends even made fun of him. but one day we found out that he was really good at a computer game (dota) and we would always invite him to play on weekends. after 3 years, somehow, we became the best of friends. on our graduation day, he revealed that he really was planning to commit suicide and thanked us for just talking to him back then.the very act of just having someone to talk to (even though most of the time we were just bullying him) meant acknowledging his existence. he postponed his attempt at suicide, since he thought that if he did, then we would be blamed. but the reason he decided to never do it, was because he made friends.

now i know the importance of talking to someone who always seem lonely. hope you guys do too :)

I helped stop bullying in 12 different schools and I asked them to join the Anti-Defamation League.

I've been leading an anti-bullying group at my school for 2 years now, and reading off the polls we had on our school, the results showed that the amount of bullying cases was reduced by 54% after these 2 years. I change schools this year so I hope my fellow students will keep up the good work

I act as the neighborhood nice person, I suppose you could say. Stand up for people, get after bullies, act as a comforter and supporter for others, etc.

Im nothing really special, but im to nice to people. As soon as i make eye contact with a stranger, anywhere i will instant say hello and give a smile. Some people smile back, or they get freaked out haha. Any ideas for small things i can do to help people and even the dollars?

Well, this summer, I've been leaving about 5 dollars or so in $1.00 bills wrapped in a sticky note saying "The world is not as bad as you think. -The Dollars" near places I know groups of either homeless, impoverished, or depressed people hang out. (There's actually a building in my town that is known for many suicides. It's extremely peaceful there, so a lot of folks hang out there to be alone with their thoughts.) Anyway, I've been doing this twice a week pretty much all summer.

Come christmas season every year at my school I buy a bunch of candy canes and slip them into the side/back pockets of peoples backpacks. Since the hallways are so crowded it is easy to put them into backpacks without the person noticing. I've told a bunch of my friends and they have gotten into it too! I got the idea when someone did it to me and I found a random candy cane in my backpack. since it made me so happy I started doing it too. Besides that, there is also the happiness you feel with putting each as a little surprise for another person. It may not sound much, but I would give some to my friends to give away and they agreed saying it just made them so happy to do this! I plan to do this every year.

A few weeks ago I was in the hospital. While I was there I would ask for a canvas and I would paint for the younger kids. (I'm only 14 so I was in a children's hospital) I would always sign the bottom as "The Dollars" The only person who knew it was me was the nurse to gave me the canvas paper. She would ask me why I signed it as "The Dollars" and I would just shrug at her.

Does anyone know what Key Club is? Well, if you don't, it's a club where you volunteer for different events in the community. So far I haven't done anything, but I will be handing out candy to children the day before Halloween and other things. I also plan on doing events where I walk for a cause, such as this weekend there will be an AIDS walk. I didn't sign up for it, but I plan on doing so next yaer. (I don't sound like I do much, do I?)

Well, lately I have been genuinely asking people how their day was, and to have a good day and i get positive reactions! They actually seem to appreciate someone interested in them, and how someone actually cares. :) Just goes to show you how the smallest things make a difference! ^o^

Ive done an old mission I saw about posting little signs that says encouraging things and "The world isnt as bad as it seems" and signed it the dollars but it put my own twist to it and made it as one of those thing where you can rip off a tab and the tabs are labled "SMILE!"

My friend is an alcoholic and is a FRESHMAN so I made it my "duty" to watch his side, almost like a big brother!~ ^-^

I've been using my little time during my lunch period to a friend with bullying problem by trying to clear her name

I've been posting little post-it notes on important buildings in the city at night. They all say "the world isn't as bad as it seems." I've also washed two or three cars and put little notes on it saying it's from the Dollars ^^

It'a not much but I've been trying to help my classmates get higher grades in their classes..

I'm been putting up take-what-you-need posters with the message "The World isn't as bad as you think.... Smile. —Dollars" with rip-off tabs saying SMILE!!! Up around my school. The tabs are all gone now, after 2 days ☆*:.｡. o(≧▽≦)o .｡.:*☆

Lately I have recently started doing new and different things all because of a person in my life. Her dream is to make a change, and that is how I found the dollars. And ever since then I've been helping, giving Hobo's Pizza with a message "from the dollars to you" on the box. I have also helped remove gang signs and Graffiti of local gangs that are common in my city and are causing trouble. And lastly I have been taking sneakers of tellephone lines, it is believed that the sneakers are a sign for "drugs are sold here".

When friends at my school have a fight with each other, I try to reunite them.

I helped a family on foodstamps buy diapers for their baby.

This happened before I joined the Dollars, but I helped 3 people in my neighborhood take down their pools about a month ago.

I placed the site and the password in a book against cyber bullying in a library.

I shoveled snow from parking lots to build a personal snow fort so they did not pay or demanded it.(Ask parents and neighbors permission) And I now watch the missing peoples channel since its getting cold and if they are runaway or kidnap it is good to know the faces.

I also forced myself to speak to more then 150 people because I was scared shitless of social interactions. ( Its all for my benefit, but it does end up being good for every one) These are simply ideas that other can take. Its not as bad as initially anticipated.

Community service! Well... it was a part of our military service training but around 4 of us did it under the name of Dollars! (caused lots of misunderstandings) But never the less, we got around!

all ive been doing is helping the freshmen at my skool with homework and stuffs

This story is not of my own accomplished mission, but of my sister's. She is not a member of the site. She is a very sweet woman who has had a change of heart since her past and has been looking for everything she can do to help people. Honestly, she is the most giving person in my family and of the people I personally know. She told me that the other night, her and my mother were shopping. While getting from one place to another, she saw an old man walking. She felt bad, I'm guessing he looked pretty worn out. Every time she sees someone walking she wants to offer them rides but typically thinks it to be dangerous, as people have been known to take advantage of a kind deed. But her and my mother offered this man a ride home, and he took it. Upon arriving to the directions she had been given, there was nothing but trees. At first it seemed the man was homeless, and feelings bad for the man she went home that night and prayed. She wanted to do something for him and asked that God give her a sign as to what she could do. The following day, she miraculously bumps into the man again. Remembering that she saw a three wheel bike with a basket while shopping with my mom, she lies and tells the man that she has this bike she doesn't want. She says that if he would like it, he could stop by and look it over. He was so happy to hear that she would do this, saying it would help him greatly as his feet began to hurt from all this walking at his age. She then went back and bought the bike specifically for him, brought it home, and gave it to the man. During this part of the ordeal, she found that the man was not homeless, but that he was in a rough spot and still needed the help. Something tells me this isn't the end of it all, but you guys... This just made this man's week. Maybe even his month. Don't give up, keep trying! Be the difference!!

Kuroneko and I were leaving these around on the benches in our local park. Even though it kinda failed because it started raining, we went to see later and most of them were gone so I guess its ok. On the back of each one theres an inspirational message.

Oh we also did some cleaning at our neighborhood. Everything was soggy from the rain but we managed to collect a lot of trash.

I gave money to a homeless old man . Felt great !

I donated blood for the first time today. Other than feeling a little shaky for a few minutes afterward, I feel fine.

I also went to visit family recently. We stayed at a hotel, so I wrote a note saying how great everything was (using specifics) and left it on a desk in the room.

There's some homeless people near where I live, and occasionally I hand them some money. :) I also heard about this app "Tab for a Cause" on the mission section and decided to download it. It's an app that donates a bit of money (a cent, I think+) for each new tab you open. Considering that I'm on the internet a lot, I thought I might as well get it.

I donated about $50 towards ALS and it felt good. Especially since its to help others. The Dollars will hopefully get noticed. If not people are just selfish.

I volunteer at Precious Paws a cat rescue organization where I live. The numbers of cats that need homes is large and I help get the cats adopted. The pic is of one of the cats I helped get adopted.

I used to have a cat just like that on but it died, and my mom's allergic to cats so I can't get one despite my name being Kitty-chan ;_;

an old friend of mine was having a really bad day, her mom slapped her, her dad screamed at her, and her sister legit tried to rip out her hair. my friend called me, sobbing uncontrollably, so i invited her over to my house and we watched some of our favorite movies for a few hours. she told me the next day that i had singlehandedly saved her life by doing that.

I saved a friend of mine from committing suicide. After some extreme discussions I got the gasoline out of one hand and the lighter out of the other. I never want to see someone do that in front of me ever again. So to tell all of you who are thinking of committing suicide, don't do it. Someone cares about you no matter how bad things get.

No one knows who did it except the principle, he found out by looking at the security cameras, then he called me in his office and told me what he saw, I thought I was going to be in trouble but instead I got a hug and a big thank you, and he wouldn't tell anyone about what happen.

I am the only Dollar in my area , I help elderly , I call police for car accidents , and I donate as much as I can for homeless , and I give clothes for poor people , I am planning on doing more but I have exams now , after the exams I will continue doing my best :)

stopped a local drug dealer and turned him in, helped my friend solve a case to.

I help out as much as I can in my local area. Whether its helping the elderly to stopping a bully, Im always glad to help.

From my garage, I heard a soda can rolling down the street. So I stepped outside to pick it up, and put it in my recycle.

I paid for an 8th grader's train ticket because she lost the money on the way to the station.

Just bought a cookbook.. the money goes towards helping children go to school

I offered to help an old lady at the store. She declined, but some guy saw me offer her and he bought me a Dr Pepper.

This is a little bit back, but I used to ride the bust to get home from school everyday, and I used to buy some chips and and soda. There was man who used to be their sometimes, he was homeless, and anytime I saw him there, I would give him what I bought that day.

The first time I gave him food all I said was "This is from the Dollars". We never really talked outside of that.

My family and I have been collecting old clothes from our closets and sending those back to the Philippines. My family has been doing this for about 2-3 years now. Since the Philippines has been recently attacked by an earthquake, my family and i have been sending clothes over there and calling to check on our relatives over in the area.

My little help for my city is the little charity that I can do. I'm only a student, so I haven't much money, but with one or two Euro every day, I think to help the poor beggings on the road. I support also a niche journal, made out by students

I'm befriending kids who have been bullied in my school. I've lost my faith in humanity a long time ago, but what my classmates doing to these kids is disgusting

I carry an army's worth of sticky notes and I'm a short person. As in, tiny, could probably fit in a cupboard pocket-sized person. So people usually don't notice me. If I see anyone having a bad day, I write a personalized haiku for them and stick it to their notebook, book, backpack, or even in front of them. People don't notice me do it, and I just love the smile on their faces when they read it.

What I'm doing to help my area. Well... I bully the bullies cause they think so great about themselves... I'm just showing them that they're wrong. They're weak. The bullies had stopped for a while at my school. In a few months I will start at a new school.i hope that the next school is better.

Me and my mates did informed the authority when there is a student gang gathering outside my school. Representing the Dollars. It was last year though.

I personally make sure to resolve social issues in my college, I'm gonna try to get better and make sure to resolve everyone's issues without anyone getting hurt
