June 19th, the website's birthday, is also our Dollars Day. This is a time to socialize for other members both online and in real life. You can ultimately do what you want, but remember that April 20th is/was our "day" for advertising the group.

I'd appreciate it if we could try to keep discussions in this thread should be strictly related to things to do at online and offline meetings (so as not to confuse anyone). Discussions about very local meetings should go in their related Countries threads. Discussions about advertising ideas would go in the Dollars 2015 or Propagation threads in the Missions board.

It's all on you guys to create your own rules and meetings, as well as to manage the safety of your members, as I am not taking responsibility this year. I cut a lot out of this first post for that reason (apparently too much considering I had to remake this due to confusion). Still, I kept in some basic info that you'll see outlined in the rest of the post.

I suggest you link to important posts and current discussions pretty often so that they're not lost in the bumps. Good luck, and have fun ^^

A popular idea from the past few years was to write a D on the top of your left hand. Of course, you're free to discuss other methods or set specific rules for your own meetings.

How can I guarantee my safety?
You can't. If you're not prepared to meet people online who may be dangerous, you shouldn't go to any offline or local meetings. However, if you do choose to go, you can lower the danger by ensuring you meet in a very public place and bringing (even your non-Dollars) friends.

Are the Southern California people willing to meet up in the Los Angeles area? It seems like that's the most logical place to meet; from what I'm gleaning from the map at least, many of us are close to that general area. Dollars Day also takes place on a Friday, and I'm definitely willing to chat with more people as a way to organize this.

Meeting a fellow dollars would be so hard, i don't think meeting would happen. Let's just write something about Dollars Day on somewhere a lot of people can notice and show them that there IS a mob called Dollars

(I know it was just a sample idea) but i don't think the Dollars should do something as "showy" as write a "D" or "DOLLARS" on their hand.

There are a ton of anonymous things we can do that are listed in the Missions tab, such as little package-notes and QR codes addressed from "the Dollars" (which I have personally spread around my school and city. Being personally anonymous (everything you do is from multiple dollars, not just one dollar or your own name) assures our safety as a group while still getting a message out. Either way I would love to chat with people about details and organization ^.^

Yeah, Dollars day is for meeting with other Dollars, not for doing a really big mission or something like that. Advertising is on a different day in April. For this one, we just want to meet each other.

This thread is not the Missions board - it is the Dollars' Day thread. Dollars Day thread =/= Missions board. In case that wasn't clear enough: if you want to talk about missions, you do it on the Missions board. If you want to talk about Dollars' Day, you do it in the Dollars' Day thread.

Seems easy enough to me.

By 'things you can do', I mean non-mission things that you can do as a group to enjoy the day. For example, maybe you want to decorate a special room in IMVU for people with the chat service to hang out in? Or run a Dollars Day-centric roleplay in Durrchat? Or maybe you're meeting in person and want to go to the movies with the group, or have a picnic in the park? Not "omg letz rite lettrsss!!!! evrbodi need 2 kno abut $$~!!!!!!!!!!!"

I can't promise I'll go, but for the NJ/NY area, I'd recommend a picnic in Hoboken (in the park right around the station). It's a really popular spot on the river, and the last anime meetup I had there went really well. I suggest having someone go early to claim a spot in the gazeebo to put the food, though.

I was just trying to say part of the allure (to me at least) of being a "Dollar" is being anon regardless of your actions (for example- whether or not you publicly promote the group).

I think it's a cool idea. It's worth having a thread for meetings and such. We can make connections and possibly recruit new people just for chats and whatever.

And personally, if I were to make a meeting I'd probably do it at a public diner or open restaurant at daytime to make people feel more safe. I'd also advise that nobody go home or anywhere with anyone at least on the first meeting. Be in groups. Invite your other friends, maybe they'd join the dollars too.

For the offline meetings, I second the picnic. I also really like the idea of hosting a poetry jam. It could be in a park, open lot, or even a hotel room (you'll need permission from the hotel ahead of time if it's a larger group), and members could share their rap, poetry, and spoken word while chillin' out to pretentious hipster music and some cheap snacks.

Having a little sports day or mini-festival at a local park could also be a ton of fun for the more physically inclined. You could have everyone bring a piece of equipment (footballs, soccer balls, pinafores, hula-hoops, etc). Hosting a little contest / tournament or two with videogames, art, music, sports, etc wouldn't be bad, either.

I've been thinking about what to do in LA for the last couple of days or so. Picnics crossed my mind as well as visiting museums; generally something fun that everyone doesn't necessarily have to stress about. I personally think that the picnic idea is something that everyone can get behind and not necessarily stress about.

Hmm, for the offline meeting, people can....
- Make a happy birthday banner (the size can be discussed later) with everyone chipping in for the birthday cake. Even taking a photo with it?
- If they know each other really well, then they could have small gathering at their friends house.
- Have a mini recruiting competition in their area (Probably unrealistic, but may as well add it to see people's opinion.)
-amusement park? (Not too sure about this)

While for the chat service for online meeting
- There is the whatsapp thing that someone in each area can create a group chat and discuss the details of the online meetings. Since it is a multi-platform.
- Skype chats are a good way to message people, since it is multi-platform as well.
- Facebook? Since I saw in the countries forum there are some people who started their own groups for their countries, so all they need to do is create a group chat on messenger app to discuss the meeting spot, etc.


Not too sure if these ideas will get shot down, but these are merely suggestions, so more thought will be needed to make it better.

I feel like a lot of you are getting pretty off track no matter how many times BarabiSama reminds you what this thread is about and that you need to stay on topic. If you want to be a part of such a large group you need to be willing to cooperate in order to keep it from collapsing.

Dollars Day is nearly coming again. This is the third year I'm celebrating dollars day. Unlike you guys, i don't have time nor money to go on an offline meeting. I'm just going to treat that day as any other day, and come to the site and greet people. Though I hope you guys enjoy both offline & online meetings on dollars day.

wellp i did a few missions today it turned out pretty well (even if all my friends ditched me)


i went to the park to hang out with my friends and when they all left a guy brought his kids to the park.

they started playing with me, so before i left their dad paid me for watching the kids and i used that money to buy a gift card on my way home and left it in a laundry-place(-thingy??)

anywhoo this was just a lucky turn of events hope everyone is having a good Dollars Day
