Pandora Hearts -- not just one of my favourite manga, but my favourite story overall, forever devastated that the anime adaptation it got was so mid - it was written by the same mangaka as the case study of vanitas and is super pretty + the characters are really well written and complex

It is my obligation as a One Piece fan to preach anime's Christianity.

Kidding, but in all reality, One Piece is not just a great manga but a great anime. Especially in this current day in age, where it's themes of systemic corruption, slavery, racism, and fighting back against oppression hit so close to home. It's a highly recommended read. I truly believe that everyone should at least once.

Joking aside, absolutely seconding the One Piece recommendation, I'm used to people groaning at the length when I bring it up but it really is so good and worth it. One of the things I love about one piece is how wide and varied the world is - people like to joke that every silly side character has that One Fan, most notably bc of known superfans of random side characters (personally, my fave appears 990 chapters in). Everything feels so rich and vibrant and the storylines have a Lot to Say. I feel I can't sum up the themes better than TheCentipede did above, Pne Piece really deserves the hype.

Not sure if you're interested in romance/BL OP but "Go for it Nakamura!" is positively adorable and its getting animated!
