Chapter 1 - the world of fragments

"Tick tick tick...", the hands of the clock echoed in the air.

As she drew open her eyelids, a world unknown to this little girl was revealed.

"Am I falling?", the girl questioned herself as her golden brown hairs flutter in front of her as gravity pulled her down into the abyss.

She angled herself, facing the fall and spread her arms like the form of a bird gliding through the air. As she braced herself for a possible impact on a ground, a ray of light burst into her eyes.

Time slowed down. As her eyes adjust to the brightness of the realm, she saw beautiful shades of blue and purple, accompanying with sparking white stars.

Fragments of glasses were floating around in this space. With her tiny fingers, she reached out for a single piece and touch the fragment. As soon as her finger came into contact her the fragment, a tiny flame ignited above the fragment, leaving behind a white light with the word "Brandon".

As she peeked into the fragment, she saw the image of a little boy. The boy was taking care of an abandoned kitten near a shrine. The little kitten had a small wound on the hind leg.

"Could this boy be Brandon?", the girl look out of the fragment and stared at the name of white light.

As she revisits the little video within the fragment, what she saw was horrifying.

As Brandon left food and water behind for the little kitten, a group of boys wearing the same clothing as Brandon bumped into him.

"Hey! You made my shoes dirty... Aren't you the cry-baby, Brandon? hahaha", the leader of the group broke into laughter.

"I see... You are trying to take care of this cat?", a smirk appeared on his face as the leader glance his eyes to the shrine.

"Please don't do anything to him", Brandon shred into tears and trembled. His legs were frozen in place.

"Meoow. MeoooooooWWW!", the kitten shrieked in pain as the boys grab it by its hind leg. A moment later, the kitten became silent.

Brandon slowly turn his head to watch the body lying still on the cold stone path. His knees dropped to ground...

At this moment, the fragment burst. The girl was puzzled as to why the fragment disappeared along with the name "Brandon".
She scanned across the realm and see millions of tiny fragments floating about with numerous different colors.

Then, a voice resonated inside of her head. Her head felt like being shredded into pieces.
"Stop. Stop!!!!", she screamed at the top of her lung.

Suddenly, as the ticking hand of the clock stopped, the entire realm was compressed into a dense spot and exploded in the face of the girl.

She woke up in her room. Her breathe was chaotic and her shirt was drenched in her cold sweat.

"What the hell was that dream?", her thoughts came to a stop when she noticed a tiny stone with the name "Brandon" carved. It was never there before her sleep. What happened was real?

"Sachi! You need to go to school", her mother's voice came from the kitchen.

Sachi slapped her own face real hard and bring her set of elementary uniform with her.
"It will be alright. Its just a nightmare", she mumbled to herself as she went to the bathroom to wash up herself.

At school, the math teacher was continuing her previous lesson but Sachi could no longer keep up. The world was a haze. The world soon became dizzy and dark as she fell into her usual slumber.

When she open her eyes, she was shocked that millions of fragments floats around her. She came to this realm of fragments again!

She tried to swim her way to a nearby fragment and gave it a slight touch.

"Emily" appeared above the royal blue fragment. The fragment was so beautiful as the star light refract through the tiny glass fragment on Sachi's hand. Sache peeked into it and saw a highschool girl standing in front of a tall tan boy.

"I...I like...but how do I tell ....", Sachi hears a voice coming from the fragment.

This sounds like Emily's inner thoughts flowing from the fragment to Sachi's head.

"Be brave Emily!", Sachi tried to encourage Emily as an audience.

Something weird happened. Emily had a shocking expression and was fumbling around, trying to search for something.

"Who is there!", Emily shouted as she scanned the vicinity.

"Did she hear my voice?", Sachi thought to herself and quickly placed both hands around her own mouth. Realizing that she could reach the person in fragment with her voice, she remembered the horrible scene she experienced last night.
Does it mean that the kitten would not have died if she could talk to Brandon in time?
What is the purpose of her being able to see all these things.

Emily felt a strong sense of power welling inside her. She gather all her energy and grab hold of the boy's sleeve.
"I like you. What do you feel about me?", she questioned the boy with all her might. Her eyes sparkles, eager to hear the response.

The boy gave a slight endearing smile replying Emily "took you so long to realize. Idiot!".

The royal blue fragment shone brightly and transformed into a sapphire. The sapphire floated to Sachi palm and landed in her tiny hands.

"AH!", Sachi screamed as she woke up in the classroom with angry Ms Clark having her arms folded.

"Tee hee...", Sachi smiled sheepishly and continue her listening to the lesson. From the corner of her eyes, she saw the familiar blue sparkle hiding within her pencil box. A sense of warm filled her heart.

Chapter 3 -

"Sota! Sota!", a woman screamed as she struggled to be release from the arms of the neighbours.
Her face was drenched in tears, while watching the house being engulfed in a blaze. Part of her arm was charred and her silky dress was full of holes.

Men in yellow helmets and donned in thick heat protection suits fired their water guns onto the scorching house.
With half a consciousness left, the boy helplessly drag his small body across the floor as his charred fingers screamed with deafening pain.

His sight darkened and his hearing fades into the distance, signaling the end to be near. The toxic fumes devoured Sota and cruelly took away his remaining consciousness...

"Ding Ding Ding Dong", the sound of the chime rang across the school hallways indicating the start of another boring lesson for Sachi. While walking through the hallway, groups of girls whispering in a corner about a teacher caught her eye. Without givning much thought, Sachi made her way to her dedicated classroom 3-E.

As the clock ticks, a male replacement teacher arrived and announced that Ms Clark has taken a month leave due to depression. Boys in the room were in anguish as they miss seeing Ms Clark scanty dressing and love harrassing her with dirty jokes. A male teacher would not quite be right for them to joke with. Girls in the class were disturbed by the news as Ms Clark's chance of depression is near to zero for such a cheerful and funny teacher.

A sense of uneasiness lurked in the air.

"The math class is even more boring than Ms Clark's. I wonder how is she doing?", Rin pondered. As she gaze at her lunchbox, an idea strucked her mind.

"Hey! Sachi, lets visit Ms Clark! Remember how she invited us to her house for extra lesson? Lets make her want to come back again! PLEEEEEEASEE", Rin cheerfully requested as she rested her arms conveniently across Sachi's tiny shoulder.

"Okay...", Sachi responded as she thought of no way to say the word "no" in the face of such a cheery person.

Rin pulled Sachi's hand and dashed through the school gateway. Sachi felt like as if she got swept up into a troublesome whirlpool and was crying inside for agreeing to this ridiculous suggestion.

They came into a stop after a corner.

Rin gasped as they saw the black crumbling house in front of them with "No Entry" tapes surrounding the house. Who could have believed that the beautiful bacony of green, bright airy dining room and the princess like bedroom would all end up in this state. "HUH? How do we find Ms Clark? DId she died in that fire!?", Rin panicked.

"Mr Kirishima said she took leave so she must still be alive silly Rin", Sachi interrupted Rin's rambling speculations.

"Are you two looking for the Clark?", a granny from next door asked. Sachi and Rin nodded and followed the granny. From listening to her point of the story, Ms Clark lost her only child from the fire and had been holing herself up in the room upstairs. As Rin knocked on the door of the bedroom, Ms Clark did not answer regardless.

Sachi felt a sense of sorrow welling up inside her as she empathized how it would feel like to lose one's child to an unfortunate event. Something moved in the corner. Sachi slowly turn her head to the right and saw a young boy with a sad face.

"Mama...don't cry", the boy's wimpering could be heard by Sachi. Could this boy be... GHOST!???? Sachi freaked out by the sudden realization and noticed the boy had no feet on the ground. The boy noticed Sachi's reaction and begged "you can see me? Please help me. I don't want my mother to remain in the state. I'm Sota. I want to thank my mother for...Please...."

Sachi's world spinned and she fell into a slumber.

In the realm of fragments, a blacken garnet-like fragment was floating in front of Sachi. The fragment has a line of crack and was about to be destroyed like the first fragment Sachi ever encountered. Sachi gave a touch.

She saw Ms Clark in her silk dress laying on the ground with her upper half leaning against of the end of the bed. Her eyes had no signs of hope. Her arm was badly burnt yet she gave no sign of pain.

"Sota... told me he don't want you to remain like this.", Sachi prayed and the words reached Ms Clark's mind.

"So...ta?", Ms Clark moved her dried lips and seems to regain some level of consciousness.

"Yes. Sota want you to move on! He...", Sachi shouted into the fragment but was interrupted by a voice. A voice that resembled the boy's voice.

"I want to thank my mother for giving birth to me.", the voice echoed inside Sachi and that voice reached Ms Clark.

Sachi looked for Ms Clark's face. Her face was full of emotion as she let our a loud cry that resonated with Sachi's heart.

The crack on the surface of the fragment shones a bright light and merged back together slowly but steadily, revealing a partially charred garnet that sparkles in Sachi's hand. "Thank goodness. Ms Clark is back.", Sachi embraced the garnet and the world transitted back to reality.

Rin stared into Sachi's face with concern of her sudden fainting.

"Thank you.", Sachi heard Sota's voice but no sign of him could be found. Only the sound of Ms Clark's cries remained.

If you are wondering why she is 'Ms Clark', she actually told her class to not call her that since she is already married so should be Mrs Fukumoto. However, her class boys just had to do the opposite hence she is 'Ms Clark'

hahahaha XD

Chapter 4

With a bow in hand, Sara stroked the strings of her violin with incredible speed. "Not good enough. I need to be faster and no mistake. I have to win the competition...", thoughts went through Sara's mind. "Faster. Faster. No miss.", she muttered to herself as she repeated the most complex segment of a classical piece.

"Sara, hey you have been playing non-stop for hours!", Sara's elder sister shouted at her as she came to Sara's room out of concern.

"Nao! Don't get in my way!", Sara yelled at Nao while trying to concentrate on the piece.

"Oi! I'm just trying to be nice to you. Dinner is ready...", Nao touched Sara's shoulder to make sense into her idiotic sister's head.

A snap sound could be heard. The tension in the string was suddenly gone from Sara's bow.

"AhhhHHHHHhhHHHHhh. It hurtsss. It hurts. My eye!!!", a scream could be heard all around the house. Drips of blood fell on Sara's lap. The violin fell. Its body tumbled onto the wooden laminated floor. Sara stood still.

"Nao...", Sara's voice trembled in fear and astonishment as she watched her sister leaning against her bed. Her hand clutched tightly on her right eye as blood trickled down, staining both the bed, floor and her favourite shirt...

Wearing her adorable yellow cap, Sachi exited the bus with all her classmates. They were making their way towards the music exhibition hall as an enrichment school excursion.

"Ahh, isn't that Sara? Last year, second place in the music competition!! Her music sense is simply godlike", Megumi's eyes sparkles as she saw her idol.

"Poor thing the judges picked on her small mistake...the first wasn't that great actually...", Megumi sighed.

When entering the hall, Sachi noticed that Sara was sitting in as an audience instead of a competitor.

"Hey Megumi, your idol is not competing?", Sachi raised a question to Megumi.

"Ehhhhhh? Why. I am so looking forward for it...", Megumin gazed toward Sara's direction intendly with a hinge of disappointment.

Time passed and the winner of the competition was announced. The entired hall was filled with applause. Sara's face reminded Sachi of Ms Clark when she lost her son. Out of concern and curiosity, Sachi splitted away from the excursion group and followed Sara to the washroom.

Weeping sound could be heard from the cubicle as Sachi sat in the cubicle beside her. Sachi visited the realm of fragment and saw Sara crying as she held onto a photo of her and her elder sister.

"Its my fault. My dream of being the best violinist caused Nao to lose her eye... These pair of hands are not fit to play music.", Sara sobbed as her thoughts flow through the fragment dimension, reaching Sachi's heart.

"You can do it, Sara!", Sachi tried to talk to the fragment but there was no sign of the words reaching Sara. In fact, Sachi could not feel her own voice coming out. Sara's heart seemed to have be shut off and refused to let anything enter. Sachi was confused. She had no idea how to help Sara. In the past few events, Sachi had always been able to conveniently convey her thoughts over. "Nao...", Sara's voice caused the green fragment to fly in a certain direction. Sachi chased after it, hoping to not lose track of Sara's heart. Over a distance, the green fragment came to a stop near a pink fragment. A touch of the fragment revealed the name "Nao". Sara's emotion had brought Sachi to Nao's fragment!

As Sachi peeked into Nao's heart, she saw Nao lying on the hospital bed. Her right eye was covered in a white eye patch strapped around her head. In front of her was a white lily with a card. "I'm sorry, Nao -Sara" was written on the card.

"Nao-san", Sachi tried to reach Nao. Nao scanned the room to search for the source of the voice. This signalled to Sachi that she succeeded in communicating with Nao.

"Your sister, Sara, is suffering very greatly. She feels very guilty about you losing your eye. She is giving up her dream! You are the only one who can help her!", Sachi prayed desperately. "How can a person live without a dream... It must have hurt a lot", Sachi's own thought spilled over to Nao.

"That idiot...", Nao swung her feet to the ground as she glared at the door furiously. She pulled away the IV drip and traced her hand along the wall.

"Okay miss, do you know where Sara is?", Nao asked the room.

"She is at the music exhibition hall.", Sara responded. Nao sneaked out of the hospital via the stairways and ran towards the direction of exhibition hall. Along the way, Nao bumped into people and lamp poles. Feeling embarrassed, she cursed and sweared about losing her right eye but the desire to save her sister still burns in her beautiful eye.

At the rooftop of the building, the panting Nao found Sara looking in the distance.

"YOU IDIOT!", Nao shouted at Sara.

"Nao...Why are you...", Sara's eye was filled with tears. Before she could complete her sentences, Nao embraced Sara tightly.
"It was just an accident. You don't need to give up your dream for me! You think that would make me feel good? You IDIOT! It would make me feel worse!", Nao cried out loud with tears and snot dripping onto Sara's jacket.

"How do I...How do I pay for what I did?", Sara poured her heart out as she wailed.

"Play for me. My ears are still fine. I still have this eye. I want to see your dream.", Nao replied while pointing at her left eye with a smile.

The green fragment transformed into a fine Emerald. Sachi woke up in the cubicle and ran to the rooftop. The scene was simply stunning.

Chapter 5 -

This gap was the only window to the external world. The boy was kept away in this shrine shred. His existence not known to the rest of the world. His face resembled a monster. His eyes were slightly further apart than average, his flat nose were found on his chin and the mouth was in the middle of his face. Despite his ugly appearance, his heart was kind but lonely and fragile.

Every midday and midnight, the monks of the shrine would secretly bring food to the little monster. They would always scramble away in fear before. The monster knew to pretend to be asleep during these timings so that food would continue to be served.

He had never experience any form of love until a rainy day where a kitten strayed near the shrine and was seeking for shelter. The furs of the kitten stood right up, sensing an unusual presence from the shred it sought shelter for. The kitten was trembling in the cold but was too afraid to move. Then, a bowl of food was pushed through the gap of the door underneath. Sensing no danger in the action of the one behind the closed door, the starving kitten moved closer and closer. It licked the food and consumed a portion to fill its hunger.

"Meowww~", the kitten greeted the little monster. From this day on, the kitten would bring interesting things to the hidden shred such as leaves, flowers and funny-looking pebbles. Then, a boy would come along to shower kindness to the little kitten until the unfortunate event happened. Brandon fell to his knees as the kitten was tortured to death by his school bullies. The little monster in the shred peeked through the gap of the door underneath to make sense of the noises.

He saw the kitten lying in a pool of red, not moving. His blood turned hot and his pupil dilated. For the first time in his life, he was angry. He dashed into the door with his body. Once and twice and the door gave way.

"Mon...MONSTERRR!!!! AHHHH", the group of boys trembled in the direction of the shed. Some tried to run away but the little monster stopped them in front. His incredible speed was a result of adrenaline rushing to his head. One of the boy went to grab a wooden log and tried to bash the little monster. The little monster tried to guard the attack and fell down. At the corner of his eye, he once again saw the body of the kitten. He bit the wooden log and chew it real hard. The wooden log broke apart and the boys were shocked. One by one, the boys were bit in the neck and stone pavement was bathe in red.

Sachi fell asleep in Ms Clark's class again. As she visited the realm of fragment, this time the scene was a little different.
Dark red smoke was emitting from a black crystal fragment. Upon a touch, the black fragment did not reveal a name. She saw bodies of little boys lying on the stone pavements. Standing in the middle was a hideous looking creature that sent shivers down her spine.

This scene looked really familiar... The shrine with Brandon? Sachi gasped as she saw the face of Brandon on the ground. The scene caused her to gag. Its definitely not a scene suitable for an elementary school kid. The little monster gently picked up the body of the kitten and was shredding tears. It brought the body to a nearby bush, dug a little hole and place the body in.

Sachi realized that this fragment might belong to the creature. Memories of the little monster spending time with the kitten flowed into Sachi's mind while the creature weeped in silence. Sachi eyes turned blurred as a small pond was formed in her eyes. Sachi was in a state of conflict. How can she save this creature? Should she even save it? It brutally murdered so many humans but the boys were at fault. Sachi could not make up her mind.

Then, an arrow stabbed into the little monster's heart. The monks had enough of taking care of it. The murders were too cruel in the eyes of the monks. "Its just a monster after all. We should have kill it long ago", were the last words the little monster received as his eyes closed for eternity.

The black fragment burst in front of sachi, leaving behind no remains. Sachi ran home to find her box of gems and Brandon's stone was not inside. It seems that as life disappears so do the stones...

Chapter 6 -

Scenes of the red shrine pavement would flash in her eyes everytime she closed her eyes. As nine year old child, Sachi was terrified. Childhood brain development is an interesting study. Toxic stress can impair a child's ability to trust and relate to others. This period of time is when a child would internalize conscience and moral values, be it the right one or the wrong one.

"Mom", Sachi knocked on the bedroom door. As the door opened, Sachi was standing there cuddling her own blanket.

"I have something I need to tell you", Sachi whispered to her mother, trying to avoid waking up her Dad.

In the kitchen, Sachi told her about how she was different from normal girls of her age. She was thrown into a crazy world full of floating fragments. These fragments would reveal someone's name when she touched them. The fragments were the heart of people in distress. Sometimes she questioned herself about the flow of time. From the previous event, it seemed like a continuation of the first fragment even though a month had passed. She told her about how confused she was and how she would feel glad when she made a difference in others' lives. However, what happened that afternoon in that shrine was traumatizing.

"I know this whole thing sounds insane but look at these." She took out the box of gems as proof to her words. Mother placed her both hands on her own lips.

"oh my gawd... Sachi. You went to the other side too! This can't be happening... and these gems. They are real!", Mother exclaimed. Sachi was not expecting this response.

"Mom, did you also have this mysterious power when you were young too?", Sachi begged for an answer.

"No. Not me. My younger sister did", Mother responded.

Sachi never knew about her having an aunt. Mother never mentioned about her, not even once. Grandma also did not tell her anything. This was strange.

"Is she still alive?", Sachi suggested a possibility to her mother.

"She died. At the age of 10...Sachi! When did you first start having these dream!?", Mother shook Sachi shoulder real hard.

"A week after my birthday", Sachi revealed. Mother was clutching her head tightly, trying to remember when did aunt first started sprouting nonsense during her time.

"It was a week. After her birthday too! Sachi!", Mother mumbled and broke into tears. She hugged Sachi tightly as if Sachi would flee from her.

"So...I'm going to die too?", Sachi quavered as she stared into the candle flame. As the flame flickered in the wind, Sachi thought of the candle like her remaining life where the flame ate away the candle drip by drip.

Chapter 7 - Can't Turn Back

As the droplets fell from the sky, the two were standing on the empty street. A woman was looking affectionately into the tall figure in front of her. Her eyes were full of passion yet a sense of sorrow as the man had a diamond ring on his left ring finger. She pushed herself away out into the rain. Her hair was drenched in her face as she faced her back away from the man. The man followed after her with his umbrella, trying to cover her up with his navy blue coat.

"One last time", she her soft lips on the man's cheek. They placed their palm together. Their hands intertwined. This warmth between them was destined to be lost.

What a bad thing they knew. His heart was in terrible pain. "Sayo..na..", before she could finish her words, their lips were sealed. The umbrella fell. The sky provided a curtain of rain, their longing for each other took over.

As the shower subsided, the identity of thr man was revealed. Sachi stared into the fragment with a shocking expression. Her eyes were filled with tears and memories of the woman flashed past in her mind. Father knew her when they were in highschool.

They had a passionate love blossomed between them. "Shoichi-san, aishiteru", father was in her lap as the two teen watched the sakura petals fluttered in the air. When young Shoichi-san had a great fever, she would carry him with her small frame to get a taxi to the hospital. Shoichi loved her scent as he watched her falling asleep beside him in the hospital bed like a cute puppy.

However, her Father faked her death to Shoichi because Shoichi was poor and unfit for her daughter. She was forced to move overseas to France to complete her studies there.

Sachi's tears were not able to stop. Their love was painful. Father's memory sneaked into Sachi's mind. Young Shoichi was sitting beside the grave with a bottle of sake, drowning in sorrow. He was suffering badly as he reminiscenced about their days in school and how he failed to protect her smiles. After graduation, he tried to visit the grave but bumped into Sachi's Mother as she went to visit a sibling's grave. Mother would spend time with him from time to time while the two of them tried to soothe each other loss.

Sachi was at lost. This woman whom Dad loved more than his life has once again reappeared. Sachi understood why Dad would not let her bid farewell. Sachi was not prepared to have an invader in her family. She was supposed to be dead.

"Give up." Sachi screamed into the images burning within the fragment. Shoichi recognised the voice.

"Sachi? Just awhile longer. Please. I will bring this to an end...", Dad transmitted his thoughts to Sachi. Mother had told him about Sachi's mysterious power.

"Chihaya-san, let this come to an end. I love you. I have always been but I have much more previous smiles I have to protect now." Shoichi took out a picture of Mother carrying a baby Sachi in her cradle.

Chihaya nodded. She forced a smile with her weary damped face. "Sayonara. Arigatou. " Chihaya responded as she understood that things cannot return back to her they were.

The pink glow in the fragment diminished to a dull looking quartz with a tinge of pink remained. As Sachi scanned the quartz carefully, she saw a silhouette of two teens under a cherry blossom tree and time had frozen in place for them.

Chapter 8 - The one who sees

His eyes turned white. The boy saw his classmate, Sachi, running away from a dark shadow. Sachi's hair appeared to be longer than usual. In the pile of snow, droplets of blood trails could be seen. Sachi ran towards his direction and tripped on a protruding tree root. He reached out both of his arms to catch her, but she fell right through his body.

The boy realized one thing. This is a vision. He cannot interfere with what he saw. As Sachi struggled to leave the white forest, the boy turned around to take a look at the dark shadow. Before he could saw who it was, the world blurred, and he came back to reality.

He peeked at Sachi's direction in the classroom. Her seat was two rows down to the left, near the window where the Sakura tree was still in blossom. He shook his head, thinking how unusual it is to daydream about this girl. Was it an infatuation? She looked just like any ordinary girl in the classroom.

"Hiroshima-kun! Why do you keep looking at Sachi?", Rin teased as she poked his cheek with her tiny finger.

"You like her?", Rin added. The boy flustered and books started slamming onto the ground.

"Hiroshima Haru! Go stand at the back and do 20 squats!", Ms Clark yelled across the classroom.

Haru glared at Rin and proceeded to receive his punishment. Everyone in the class chuckled. Everyone, including Sachi, turned to look at the embarrassed Haru. Their eyes met. Haru felt like the whole world was silent. It was as if the whole room belonged to just the two of them until Sachi returned her eyes back to the class board...

After school, Haru went to his elder brother's coffee house to help out as usual. When he put on his mini sized barista apron, his eyes went blank again.

He saw a rich lady dressed in tiger prints with a unique-looking leather bag splashing the espresso on the man sitting in front of her. She proceeded to leave with high dignity. The bell of the door echoed in the distance. Haru came back to where he was, and he continued to tie his apron.

As he walked out from the back with a bag of coffee bean in hand, the scene he saw just awhile ago replayed exactly at the moment. The lady splashes the coffee onto the man. The man shrieked with his stained shirt. She glared at the guilty man and left the place. Haru was shocked at his mysterious discovery.

Chapter 9 - Aunt

"Mitsuki Kana", the name of a girl mother cared was engraved onto the stone. Sachi stared at the grave where her aunt laid. The gray photo was a little girl similar to Sachi's age. Her family cleared the weeds that grown around and offered incenses to let the dead be at peace. As the incense's ash fell to the ground, Sachi lost her consciousness.

Sachi found herself in the realm of fragments. However, the number of fragments were fewer than she would usually see. As she turned around, she saw a young girl with white hair staring at her in a white flowing dress. Around her were a pile of dull looking stones similar to Brandon's stone. The young girl yawned and spoke for the first time, "You are Sachi, my sister's daughter."

Her pair of eyes were blue like an aquamarine gem, both beautiful yet cold. Her aunt's appearance was different from Sachi's expectation. Why was she able to see her dead aunt? This realm of fragment seems different from others.

"You are thinking why this place is different? Why you are here? How did you get this power?", Kana read Sachi's thought out loud.

"I brought you here, my precious little darling" Kana caressed Sachi's hair. "You are being observed. Someone horrible will be trying to catch you", Kana proceeded to whisper in Sachi's ear.

"Don't worry. They won't find you here. I have been absorbing the energy from these fragments to retain my soul and keeping this part of the world hidden", she continued her sentences.

"Who is watching me?", Sachi asked.

"The same monster who killed me 20 years ago. The monster came from a far away planet searching for a bride that can harvest energy from human souls", Kana explained.

Kana proceeded to pick up a dull stone and stood beside a remaining floating fragment.

"Each fragment is linked to a human soul. The fragment will transform into a beautiful gem like you did for your past few adventures. These gems hold far more energy than its original form. However, should the human experienced despair, it will turn into this dull stone with little energy. The human would be living a life like a living zombie, just work and work until the day their bodies die", Kana revealed her own discovery to Sachi.

Sachi recalled how television news would occasionally report people overworked to their death.

"Why do you used up those energies then?", Sachi questioned her furiously.

"The power to interfere was taken away from me. I can't transform them into gems anymore. I have been surviving so long so that the next person inheriting our powers would be able to escape from this misfortune! I have vowed to steel my hearts more times than I can count...", Kana gripped her chest tightly as she confessed.

"What is that monster like?", Sachi accepted her situation and put on a serious facial expression.

Before her aunt could mention about the monster, Sachi was shaken awake by her mother. Sachi was drenched in sweat and her mother was trembling with fear of grim reaper stealing her love ones again.
