Hey guys, Denim here. Any Authors, writers, or just people who like to write stories here? I love to write stories and I'd love to have people in the dollars who like to write aswell!

2 Name: demoness : 2016-10-16 03:42 ID:LH1a986l [Del]

I do indeed enjoy writing stories! I'm sure there are tons of others, too, if you look around a bit.
If you're looking to find someone to trade stories with for some feedback on them, I'd be happy to send you one of mine if you'd kindly email one of yours to demoness.dollars@gmail.com
Also, do you have any already posted to the web??

I write stupid stuff on wattpad, I don't know if that makes me a writer or not, probably not...

9 Name: Doomagara : 2016-11-06 10:46 ID:g6+aQX48 [Del]

I have a great passion for fiction and am striving to become a writer myself, though I still have much to learn before I get there. I wish you all the best of luck on your writing and hope that you improve as time passes. Writing is hard, but not impossible, so keep reading, writing, and dreaming. After all, that is what being a writer is all about.

My dream career is being an author. I have loved stories and books since before I could read. I would carry around books like stuffed animals. It really is comforting and motivating to see others who share this same passion.

11 Name: маленькое пламя : 2016-11-08 17:06 ID:FKvunL6N [Del]

I love writing. I have a Wattpad account and have won some awards for writing. It's like an addiction. Once I get an idea I can't stop obsessing over it.

12 Name: Doomagara : 2016-11-08 20:46 ID:g6+aQX48 [Del]

I know how you feel. Winning awards is very impressive! By the way, I am currently working on character development for my story. Do you have any advice on the matter?

13 Name: Chamer : 2016-11-12 18:37 ID:3nZO3/+a [Del]

Doomgara, in my opinion you should look at the characters you write about as real people and think how could the events that happened to them affect their personalities. then write it out very carefully and dont rush it. also be careful, you dont want to turn a strong character into a softie. preserve the original to the extent you feel is necessary.

I write littel FFs from time to time mut creating characters and seeing them come to life in a story is the cooles part for me (and of course killing off the likable ones or those who are needed in tough situations to make the chance of the others surviving slimmer. It gets more intense that way I think).

Doomagara, I usually base my characters off the conflicts of the story. For example, a character's gender or race may be determined by the time period and location. I also love to use opposites in my writing. One of my stories was set in Russia during its civil war. One of my characters is described as having fiery blue eyes. I also like to take walks by myself. On these walks I often gain ideas for stories, plot, and characters. I ask myself, "What if?". That's how most of my characters are formed. Sorry if it's a little confusing.

It's not confusing at all, thank you for the advice, Chamer, _Lighter_ , and маленькое пламя. I'm grateful for the tips! The story I'm currently writing is very focused on the characters, and I need to know them better than I know myself in order to cause the reactions from the reader that I plan to cause. What kind of stories do you write, and do you need any advice to improve them?

Remember that the people you write about - at least in the story - are real people with feeling, faults and a past that shaped them. If they act a certain way give them a reason why they act that way. You don't have to reveal the reason right away. Also let them make mistakes from time to time which influence the story and the opinion of others about that person so that they have to cope with the mistake. To make emotions felt I use a method that is very useful but also kind of brutal. When a caracter is desperate for example revisit the most desperate situation you've been in and then mix those emotions with the situation the char is in.

Also there a different coping methos. Some become cold, others over emotional and others abuse a substance. If he/she abuses something or has a disorder learm more about that dease, read articels about personal experiences from people who are addicted, live with that disorder, have that deseas and so on. Make the chars diverse and do not follow every cliche. one or two are okey but don't implent them "Just because". Again try to give reasons. Also make characters the the grey zone becuase no human being is eternal good or bad. So if you have a antagonist, for example, give him also at least one positive trait. Maybe he kills some people off because he is completly against there morals/some traits and witnessed some innocent people being killed because of that. So he kind of does it becuase he loves people and despises "bad" (that how he defines it) but actualy likes humans. Or maybe he has asoft spot for little dogs and is a familiy man. Who knows. Also little quirks are nice from time to time. If a woman, for example, alwas stoms the tip of her wine red shou to the ground when she is annoyed you instantsly know who the person is, even if you only name that detail. That way people can guess too. Or describe an accent/a voice of someon in more detail. When you name that detail people can guess who it is as well.

Also give every person a past that shaped them but let them further develop in the story so that they arent the same when the story is over.

Hope I could help somehow. If you have any questions feel free to ask : )

>>16 I mostly write storys that play now or about 100 years in the future and most of the time I add Fantasy elements like people with special abilities who are hunted, used for the profit of the government, build little organizations and stuff. Sometimes I also write about teen + real gang fights and yakuza/mafia involvement.

It's hard for me to separate the themes because most of the time I combine different themes/settings and make little spin offs with characters who I think have the potential to have their own story or when the people I've shown some rough char scratches are really interested in the character because I can't dedicate like 20 chapters of backstory to every character in the main story. I do include maybe 2 to 3 chapters about the backstory of one char and let other people who knew him earlier tell other involved people about him but I don't write his whole life down. If I'd do that the main story would move to the background too much and the main story would lose the thread
