1 Name: Odium : 2016-06-06 12:16 ID:Cv8t9KX6 [Del]

Okay, so I saw this post on tumblr and I wanted to share it with all the novice writers out there. This is a Robert McKee book about Substance, Structure, Style, and the Principles of Screenwriting. If you're a buff story lover and you want to write, read this book. It will be very helpful if you want to initiate with some 'rad' writing skills and/or improve them.

You can buy this book on amazon

OR

You can read it for FREE in pdf format

Hope I helped someone!

P.S. Oh and, maybe, some of you can even reply with a link of your written works! I'd love to read them! (that counts for fics also huehue~)

Thanks

Odium~

when writing, its best to think of it as a "burger" [you'll recognize this from highschool english, if you had a good teacher explain it]
the patty, is the meat of your story, it involves characters, and the development of your story, what is going to happen, or what has happened etc,
next would be your 'toppings; that involves places, points of interest, or plot twists; condiments may be additives, some are good, too much is bad, these are back-stories on your characters, where they were, how they got here etc.
the buns themselves are the universe you have put everything in, its very uncommon to have a 'plain bun' turn into a space age 'everything bagel bun' without some form of explanation, like the patty and toppings being whisked away to it via magic/portal/timetravel
now if you have your 'rough' burger built, its time to look at it from the side? too many toppings? not enough meat? are the buns the correct fit for everything?
or is it too big/too small? remember that anybody whos any body takes bites from the side of it, they can't be able to shallow it whole [else its a short story one page long], they get bits and pieces of everything one bite at a time. be it most of the characters in one go, or one character at a time, with toppings to explain their story, their personality. sometimes you bite and get no meat, or no toppings, sometimes the bun is missing[its there still, but readers aren't suppose to be aware of everything]
you may 'start' on one side of the burger, but change the angle to delve deeper into it, so your story might start with one character/ bounce to another, come back and find the first grew because of the seconds' actions

im not saying this is the best way to write, it works for me, might not make sense to you, it didnt to me in highschool.
