Wutthering Heights? (14)

Essentially, I want to read Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë, but I want to read it with someone. I have a friend who said she'd read it with me, but we haven't really hashed out any details. It's been about two months since we decided on it. Nothing's happened. xD

So, if anyone's interested in reading it with me, that'd be cool. We can work out some sort of schedule, figure out how we want to do it, get a way to communicate. All that jazz. If multiple people are interested, that's cool too. Anyways, yeah. Let's see how this goes. >_<"

>>3 I'm not very good at doing summaries myself, so I'm going to copy and paste one from Goodreads. >_< It's a classic, so if classics aren't your thing, then this might not be your cup of tea. xD

"Wuthering Heights is a wild, passionate story of the intense and almost demonic love between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff, a foundling adopted by Catherine's father. After Mr Earnshaw's death, Heathcliff is bullied and humiliated by Catherine's brother Hindley and wrongly believing that his love for Catherine is not reciprocated, leaves Wuthering Heights, only to return years later as a wealthy and polished man. He proceeds to exact a terrible revenge for his former miseries. The action of the story is chaotic and unremittingly violent, but the accomplished handling of a complex structure, the evocative descriptions of the lonely moorland setting and the poetic grandeur of vision combine to make this unique novel a masterpiece of English literature."

Lemme know. ^_^

Does it have to be that book? Haha I think it's an awful piece of literature.

>>5 Really? xD I suppose it doesn't have to be that book. That's just the book I originally thought of when writing this. I'd be cool with reading another book. Do you have one in mind?

>>6 Not exactly. And if you want to read that one, there's nothing wrong with it. I just read it recently and didn't enjoy it.
Hmm... Ever read the Dubliners by James Joyce? I've been meaning to read it but haven't had the chance.

>>7 I still want to read it, perhaps I'll just pick it up another time.
I haven't read that. It sounds interesting, though.

Haha I've heard it's extremely depressing. But I dunno. I'm up for whatever.

Well, I'm down for reading that. I just have to get my hands on a copy now. >_<

Haha same here. So what are some other books you might be interested in reading? We can get a good list together and find one that works best.

I have The Man in the High Castle by Philip K Dick I've been wanting to read. Geek Love by Katherine Dunn, A Lover's Discourse by Roland Barthes... I'm also fairly open to most classics. I haven't read as many classics as I wish, so there's not many I'd turn down at this point.

I recently had to read Jane Eyre for class, so I guess I'm down for reading another Bronte book XD
