Greetings, writers!

for all you out there that love to write, i would like to ask you why you do it. i know there must be some reason tied to why you are writing, so i'd like to hear what your reasons are.

(i'm sorry if there is already a thread about this, i couldn't find it)

It's a way to get your feelings out there. A lot of people aren't able to express their feelings by just telling the world, but with writing as a creative medium they can express their feelings (same with artists, musicians, dancers, etc.). In fact, I once got in trouble for writing a poem, it was the most horrible experience the police had to question me, they asked me if I was suicidal, if I wanted to kill others, but I didn't care. I still wrote poetry and I still wrote stories and I will never stop, because no matter how misunderstood I may be, I'll always want to write everything in my mind no matter how strange it may be.

i do it for the same reason you decided to post this.

It depend for me. Sometimes, I write because I feel depressed and I want the people who read me to feel the same as me, to understand me. But I also write because I find this funny and I have a very good imagination. I would love to share some of my work to you guys/girls :)
Also, what are the style you like to write ? Fantasy, Science-Fiction and Horrific( Lovecraft like) for me :)

Writing is like breathing....I couldn't live without doing it constantly.

Writing for me is a way to scape from this reality. When I write about my personal stuff I fall deeply and deeply into myself, but when I write about fiction I create a new world inside my head to live in, even if just for a moment. It's the same that happens when I read: even though I know my body is here, sitting in the sofa, in my mind I'm living thousands of other lives in thousand of different worlds. That's actually what really keeps me going. Only my own reality is not enough. And when I finally get to write a book, my expectations are to do the same to other people: to create a new world where they may want to live in.

Same as you Nymeria. The world I create are far more interresting that the one I live in I think :p

I figure i should share my reason. I write as a coping method. back in middle school i felt so alone. i created a world in my head that i could do anything. as an easier way to remember the adventures that i had i began to write them down. eventually it evolved into being a part of me.

I write because... I like to create! To think that I can create an entirely new dimension, where anything I say goes, where there are no limits to what I can do, and where I can express whatever messages or opinions I want to express, all for other people's enjoyment?

Why I'm a writer is simple, I have to create. I think too much about things to be satisfied living a normal pointless life so by writing I feel like my existence in this world has some kind of significance. Even after I die my stories will live on so it's only some kind of imortality like that that could really satisfy me. But there's more to writing for me than just that, I've been misunderstood all my life so by writing I'll convey feelings and emotions that help people better understand the kind of person that I am. To be truly understood by someone has always been a dream of mine.

I love to write, because I love creating. I do other things like draw, voice act, make short films, but writing is where I can really be the most creative. I love writing sad stories, I love writing happy stories, science fiction stories, fantasy, horror, drama, mystery, it's all just incredible.

I might not be as "deep" as some people who write, but I just love doing it, so I do it. That's why I'm doing a screenwriting course at university, it's why I'm writing multiple web series with my friends, it's why I'm writing a novel with hopes of writing more and linking two separate genres together.

The one type of writing that I simply cannot do is songwriting. I cannot write lyrics to save my life. That is why I envy songwriters, they have a talent that I do not and it is an incredible one at that.

I write, simply, just because I like it. Plus, writing plays and stuff is pretty fun. You get to create everything by yourself and it's like having a little world at your fingertips.

writing is an art. It's a great way to express yourself, or just bury yourself in a whole new world, where anything you want possible is possible.

Im actually writing a book right now. Even though im in eight grade. I lobe writing because it is like an extent of your imagination. And what you are thinking is probably what you would wish to happen. :)

Hmmm... I write for twwo reasons.
1: because it's fun imaging worlds that can be shared with everyone.

2: because I need an outlet.
