Rick Riordan is the author of three series: Percy Jackson and the Olympians, The Kane Chronicles, and The Heroes of Olympus (hereafter referred to as PJO, KC, and HoO). All three series are ancient myths in a modern day setting.

PJO follows Percy Jackson, the son of Poseidon, as he must adjust to life as a demi-god while simultaneously saving the world. It's funny, with good characters and proper amounts action, comedy, and romance. I'd suggest it to any fantasy readers.

HoO is a spin-off series of PJO. It follows some of the old heroes we know and love from PJO while throwing in some new ones. It mixes Roman and Greek mythology together and the characters are more diverse than PJO. The children of both the Roman and Greek gods must learn to fight together when a threat too big for either group appears, ready to destroy the world.

In KC, siblings Carter and Sadie Kane find themselves thrown into the world of Egyptian mythology when their dad wakes up something that should have been left alone. Despite growing up apart, the siblings must find a way to work together in order to not only save their father, but to survive.

Yeah, I know there's already a PJO thread and a HoO thread, but both of them were subpar and I wanted a proper thread where I could fangirl. I read all the PJO books and am on book four of HoO. I never got into KC. Anyway, I really loved PJO, like I said, it was the right mix of comedy, action, and romance. I'm finding that HoO is similarly balanced. While some of the new characters made me uneasy at first (they were a bit too close to being Sues for my taste), they end up being extremely likable and really fun. House of Hades has caused Nico di Angelo to shoot to the top of my list of favorite characters in the series.

Now can someone else post so I can fangirl over these books?

I have a hard time liking other series's from the same authors. Are the other books as good as Percy Jackson?

>>8 I really liked the Heroes of Olympus series. It took some getting used to because Percy isn't a main character until the second book, but I really like the new characters and the new plot. I didn't enjoy the Kane Chronicles as much, but it's a decent series.
