I wrote a book. Well, most of one. I have a final chapter to do but I can't seem to do it. My brain finally gave out after two monts of continuous use, so right now I have zero ideas. Because of this, I'm gonna ask you guys how this last one should finish out.

I have a work crew of 70people excavating and exploring old ruins, but in order to keep loose ends from appearing, I need to create a cave-in that leaves only 4 survivors, because they were outside taking a picture to commemorate the discoveries they had made so far. This cave in can happen many ways. Underground ruins made of clayand sand bricks inside of a sand dune where the workers are putting up support beams with rubber mallets and its been raining hard for a long while.

My ideas were as follows:
-have a support beam fall (bad placing), crack the floors, entire building collapses under sudden give of pressure
-rain softens bricks of inner chambers, previously untouched by rain and hence vulnerable to it, the softened structre giving to the pressure and collapsing.
-somebody misses support beam and instead knocks a keystone out of place (keystones are like house foundations, if even one brick is out of place the entire structure collapses)

Note on idea two: rain runoff into the door and streaming down steps and bricks and stuff until it reached the inner chambers which shouldn't have rain in it anyway.

Please somebody help, my deadline is in a week and a half and I only have a few hundred words separating me from being published and looking like an awkward waste of time...

I like the second idea. It will also tie in with the rain that's been pounding for the rest of the story rather than having it just be a "coincidental accident" that it looks like you have full control over. It'll make more sense if was caused by something prevalent through the story.

Manuscript iis en route to the publisher. What kind of storyline does Durarara!! have? There's a name for the seemingly random chain of events with little relation that all meet up in the end, but I don't know what its called... anyhow, Sunshine City is like that. In the plot aspect anyway. Do you think they'll like it? I'm still kind of nervous meself...

Try adding a new charecter who can end the story. Also try to make that charecter one person group honouring the others who didn't escape the cave.
