Which is your favorite light novel series? (19)

1 Name: GoodLoser : 2013-07-17 15:48 ID:MfThh3Dk [Del]

Hi everyone!
Do you like the light novels? If yes, which is your favorite?
I personally like the SAO serie (even if i hate the "harem" part of this story, and i didn't like the ALO arc, but the GGO is something amazing!), I like even the Itsuka tenma no kuro usagi (the black rabbit has seven life) serie, even if the translation has stopped a long ago, so i'll never know the ending...
Of course i like a lot of other series, but i won't list them all.
And you? Tell us your opinion!

One of my favorite light novels would be Utsuro no Hako to Zero no Maria (HakoMari) series by Eiji Mikage. I like how mind-boggling it is and how it deals with a lot of philosophical concepts and morals.
Another would be the Zaregoto series from NishiOishiN(-sama), the guy who brought us the Monogatari series. It's pretty much the same genre as HakoMari, just more intelligently written, in my opinion. Both titles will keep you hooked till the end.
BTW, does your name come from Medaka Box's spin off manga?

Yes, i like all the character that NisioisiN created in Medaka Box, but Kumagawa is simply mi favorite!
About NisioisiN: I didn't dislike the monogatari series, even if i read only the first 3 volume, but i preferred the animated series (Particularly the Nekomonogatari).

>>3 Yeah, I like Kumagawa a lot, but he's only second best to Anshin'in IMO. I haven't read Good Loser yet, but it's been in my to-read list for some time now.
Although the anime is good (Bakemonogatari), I'd rather read them, mainly because I can't bear too much ecchi scenes and the fact that Araragi appears to be less intelligent than how he really is. Also Sengokou irks me the most.

Of course I love Durarara, but I think I love Baccano light novels the most!

>>5 I agree with Hana completely.

Baccano, hands down

The Monogatari series here. Kizumonogatari, specifically, hell, is on par with the best traditional novels.

>>2 YES HakoMari is awesome! :D

hmm...I like Durarara!! and Baccano! I guess, and pretty much equally, but I find the Durarara storyline a lot easier to understand, and the characters seemed to be portrayed differently? I don't know really...but part of the reason is that I still haven't finished the Baccano! series yet.

Also, even though it's kinda perverted and somewhat cliche ish, I really like Baka to Tesuto to Shoukanjuu. It's actually really funny and there are some sweet moments.

These are the ones I remember off the top of my head, I'm sure that there is more, and more that I haven't read so yeah...

Also, the rest of you guys, do any of you guys read the Japanese original? or are you like me and read the English Translated...and do any of you guys get somewhat annoyed when people don't read the LN of a series or something? Do the LN ever kind of ruin the anime or manga for you? Because they do for me...(both)

OTL I wrote too much again, this happens every time, I'm sorry.

Legendary Moonlight Sculptor is a pretty good one that I personally am enjoying. It covers virtual reality RPG's so yeah any SAO fans should enjoy it lol.

Spice and Wolf :)

A story about a wolf god and a travelling merchant. It's a fantasy revolving on economics and trade. And the romance developing between the two.

Currently reading it. Never thought I'll be interested in economics.

And somehow, the main characters reminds me of Lelouch and CC :l

Gintama 3z Ginpachi sensei~

It's official high-school parody of Gintama and just like the series it's hilarious. Well, but I didn't found all the chapters on net tho.

And a Chinese light novel Half Prince is very good too. I also read the manga. You can say it's almost like SAO? Well, the main character is a tranny in virtual world. Oh, and just warning that since the main character is actually a girl but a man in game, it contains both straight and slash even if it's actually straight
