Ok, I've had this idea in my head for a while on this story called "Edge of Agravice." I need a bit of help on what it should be, but i don't know how it should go.
I need names for characters, names of places, plot, and so on.

Any ideas that y'all have to lend a hand to a struggling writer?

Well... I could help with names, for both characters and locations, as well as settings and dialog, but the plot should be all you.

Try and create a rough outline of what you want. Give us something to work with, even if it's just a skeleton. I'd love to help you out, just need a template to go on is all.

Year is 3030. The world has become advanced in every way, and the amount of pollution has turned the solid ground on Earth septic, and now beasts, demons, and creatures of all sorts live there. Man kind has adapted to living in the skies, having sprouted wings on their backs for flight (much like Maximum Ride). They reside in soaring towns that fly over the land and have created technologies that allowed them to achieve interstellar travel (space travel to any where in the universe).

But... in 3035, a war starts and the avian race has to fend for itself.

A group of avians, calling themselves the "Icarus Wings", decide to go down to the surface of Earth to find an ancient artifact that will either stop the war or destroy them all.

the reason its called Edge of Agravice is because it's the name of the land on Earth in the story, Agravice, which means 'Accursed land"

From one struggling writer to another. I come with advice. I do NOT recommend you start with a title. I start with an idea. A "What if?" So, for instance, what if bird had the same amount of knowledge as people? Then I start filling in the details to my thought. What kind of bird is it? What does it look like? What is it called? Then I answer the "What if?" I had started with. For example, birds and humans would get into a war. Then I fill out details to my answer. Once I got that done, I start getting characters and major plot points done. Who are the major characters? Who are the protagonists? Who are the antagonists? Describe what they look like and their personality in detail on a separate sheet of paper, or you can draw a picture of them. Personality still has to be written out. The more detail the better. You will refer to this as you are writing your story in case you forget. So you won't have to flip through to find the page where you described them. Where does it start? What is the rising action? What is the climax? What is the falling action? What is the resolution? In that order. Then I decide what minor characters are needed to allow the story to run smoothly. Then I write the parts that answer those questions. Remember that the story has to be CHARACTER driven. The only reason why anything happens is because a character does something. A character causes each moment to happen. Coincidences are okay in moderation. I won't suggest more than 5. Once you have those parts written down, you start filling in the details in between the points. How does the story jump from one scene to another? What do the characters do to cause this? Are there any surprises? The more detail the better. Good diction is preferred. I'm not asking you to use many big or fancy words. Just one every now and then. Don't use the same word a bunch of times. I personally don't like cussing. Use different sentence structures. Don't use the same word to begin a ton of sentences. It will be obvious and make your story less appealing if you don't. After ALL THAT then you can title your story. You ideas might change throughout the story causing you to change earlier chapters. Do not do so until you finish the story. Once you are done. Read it. Fix any mistakes and add details were it's needed. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. Some authors have to edit their books eleven or twelve times before they publish them. That is okay. Once all of that is finished, then you can title it. If you have friends with creative minds, you can borrow ideas off of them. Tell them the idea you started with, and let them ramble about what they think would happen. Listen for any good ideas you want to use.

I normally name the story after about 9 chapters. Then you know you are into writing it. I also use my friends as characters. Making them feel more real for me as well as other readers. (I normally don't let them know I used them as the mold for the persona of the character, they themselves never really notice.) I've written a story which I have turned into a comic via my friend as the artist. Its called 'Soul' if you want to read it by all means just ask.

My story started as a AP Human project. We had to create a country and a flag. Mine was an island nation founded by pirates. I then created a character to live on the island, a family, a backstory, all that jazz and it evolved from there.

Don't try to rush a story. If you do it turns into crap. Let it flow naturally.

How about something like a best friend disappearing and just being accused of murder when she finally comes home? I have more ideas I just mentioned this one though.

>>8 My characters are... different. If I molded them after my fiends my story wold be boring. I make my characters an "imaginary friend." I imagine what they would do if they were real people. I grow to love them. They are so interesting. I mold them after parts of me. I take one trait of me, make it their main trait, make it a tad more extreme to make it interesting, but not so much to where they aren't realistic. I then imagine what other traits a person like them would have. My characters would be my friends if they were real.

Write up what you have and make it into a google doc. Then invite people by email to read it and comment on it. It'll help you fix anything and they can give you suggestions.
