I thought it would be a good idea to start thread with emails for people willing to beta. This way, people looking for beta's don't have to whore around looking for someone who will help them out. I would suggest you put an account special made for this (to avoid trolls) if you do decide to post an email.
Alternatively, if you're an author who wants help with a story just post a short description below and someone can volunteer to help.

I put the first chapter to my story on google docs and allowed access to people who posted here. So far only Tsu has checked it out.

I would beta-read, but I can't read while I'm writing my own book. It would effect my writing too much. I would say I need a beta-reader, but I have this paranoia that someone will steal my idea.

Perhaps as a prospective reader with second thoughts. I hardly think that an insult is any more related to the topic than someone showing interest. I was expecting someone to encourage her to join.

Anyway, I can't speak for everyone, but I don't think these guys will steal your idea. Always great to have a second opinion on your stories.
