6 Name: Kumo!NC09qbtR1Q : 2012-01-27 09:07 ID:z3SSUZwZ [Del]

>>5 that's because the threads that you made that dies were stupid or disrespectful to other memebrs....

anyways. i was in love with this series in elementary school and into middle school, when the last books came out.

Then i read the last book. and i was genuinely angry and dissapointed with the way it ended without doing anything to solve any of the major plot twists and mysteries other than...

SPOILER! DO NOT READ ON UNLESS YOU HAVE READ THE LAST BOOK, OR DO NOT GIVE A DAMN!!!

killing Olaf. it just seemed like a cop out way to end an overall pointless series

7 Name: Takara!E7th54kZFw!!XI8GEi6V : 2012-01-27 09:34 ID:e+/alXK5 [Del]

So I came to this board because nothing interesting was happening in the others. It always majorly makes me happy to find one of my threads in top ten.

>>6 Well, technically they didn't kill Olaf, in fact they kinda relied on him to move Kit to the shore or something, and then he died on his own by... what was it again? That deadly mushroom, or that spear-gun? Dammit I can't remember.

>>8 It was partly the Medusoid Mycellium and partly the hookshot. It was mostly the hookshot though as it killed him faster than the Medusoid Mycellium.

Because my elementary school had issues with having the whole series, i havent read all of them, and this breaks my heart

>>10 If youre within the US, you can have mine. The ending depressed me so much that i will never, ever, ever read them a fifth time. EVER.

>>11 Would ya look at that.. Lemony Snicket actually did depress someone by writing.

Yeah, I dunno. I was never really depressed by the serious, I think it was sort of like some kind of black humour for me. I understood that many people died, and many close friends were lost, and that the Baudelaires were bullied. But I think it might've had something to do with the fact that I was still fairly young when I read the series. And that I had only just begun properly getting into reading books.

I wasn't too disappointed with the ending. I went into major obsession mode and went on the internet researching what went into the books after that. I remember just being disappointed because it turned out that their parents weren't really alive at all. I still have trouble working out what happened after that.

Daniel Handler said that he just wanted to write a gothic-esque series about kids growing up. So maybe the whole thing was really just a metaphor for them growing up.

Speaking of this series…

I've read all the books as well, and one question still burns in me: What was inside the sugar bowl?

>>13 i have no clue. this was one of the reasons that the end was a disappointment to me. I don't handle loose ends in stories very well.

>>13 Who knows. Judging by what was in The Beatrice Letters and in Lemony Snicket: An Unauthorized Biography, it's either some sort of recording device that contains a recording of Olaf saying something incriminating. Or it contains some sort of incriminating evidence rather than just a recording.

Hmm... This is the oldest one, but it sucks ass too.

Usually we need a picture of the book cover and a summary or review of the book. This had neither. But /yours/ had neither too.

Btw you guys, to all who reads, your computer has a search function for searching the page you're currently on. I know you said you looked and I'm not saying anything against it, but you obviously didn't use the search function, because I found this thread AND another one.

oh looks like it did die a while ago though too bad i think V.F.D. and the dollars have a lot in common (granted there are differences) we are both just trying to help people :)

Is it cool to say that I didn't like that series very much? It left so many questions unanswered like *SPOILERS...KINDA* what happened to the twins (I know that was covered but it was so ambiguous I felt like the author gave up on that side story and didn't care enough to make a proper ending for them)

Oh man, my childhood aches. That series was a drug.

<<21 i agree some stuff was left in the open but i'm rereading it now taking notes trying to figure it out and there is this deep background story if your willing to look for it
