What does it taste like? Is cheap sushi from Tesco(UK super market) OK? Where can I buy it?

Sushi from a super market is ok, it helps you get the idea of what sushi is. Sushi from a gas station can be a little hit-or-miss. The best place to get sushi is from a sushi bar that doesn't also have a buffet attached to it. (Note all these are from a United States perspective)

I don't know how's it been treating you? :)

>>1 you can get it from Morrisons in the UK or other large supermarkets like M&S and possible ASDA and Sainsbury's.

More and more shops are stocking Asian food, and even bits and pieces to make the food i,e like sea weed rap for making sushi.

If you are looking some Japanese food stuff you can't find locally here's a link "copy and past it" -

hope that helps. :D

Sushi is awesome. Just get it from somewhere that you would buy their regular food from pre-packaged, so nowhere like a gas station.

I tried it once, but I still can't answer this question properly. It was my family who made it, and they are VERY unfamiliar with Japanese food. I tried to tell them they're doing it wrong, but they wouldn't listen. So, they put a TON of wasabi on nori sheet, hot rice, and some random sour-ish marinated fish. They even put pickled ginger IN the sushi. It was quite a disaster, and it taster very badly. I want to give sushi another try, this time in a sushi restaurant.

Yeah. I love sushi, but when my family makes it the rice tastes really weird.

>>10 That what you family member made does not sound like sushi, what it sounds more like was a monstrosity and then called sushi.

Hmm... this is a bit late, but I must weigh in that sushi is absolutely amazing!

I find that even the cheap sushi that's storebought tends to taste good but due to the method with which they use to keep the food fresh it removes some of the flavor over time, so it's a good idea to check the expiration date for a better flavor, so you know you're getting something that was made recently.

It depends on the type of Sushi for me.

don't take it the wrong way, but sushi is just short grain rice season with salt, sugar, and mirin. now if you are talking about a type of sushi like norimaki (rolled) sushi: the nori(seaweed) taste a bit fishy and the fish don't really have a fishy taste because it not cook. If you are making your own at home, you don't have to use fish. I made a bbq pork one and it was good.
