I'm as obsessed with tuna as Haruhi Fujioka is. I went to a hibachi restaurant on my birthday and got the yummiest spicy tuna rolls... If only it wasn't so expensive I'd eat there more...

Living in Japan for 3 years, I love all japanese food. This includes teriyaki MEAT; all meat in general with teriyaki sauce is good. All types of sushi taste good as well. There are also octopus balls and octopus/squid on a stick. There are so many other great foods in Japan. <3

Sushi and pocky are the best!!! I bought 4 packs of strawberry pocky today and also went to a Japanese buffet. Really coincidental actually. My uncle pocky for the first time he really liked it and we finished 2 boxes in like 5 minutes ha

I've had lots of different kinds of sushi, Onigiri (I made it mahself I was so proud lol), Miso, Ramen... Unfortunately I have yet to get my hands on takoyaki... DAMMIT!!!

24 Name: Kiri : 2014-10-26 16:11 ID:ywYgTQR1 [Del]

Takoyaki and Ramen are amazing! Ah, if anyone's from NYC there's a takoyaki place called Otafuku and it's in East Village and it's famous for it. Like, seriously, best stuff I've had! They had yakisoba and taiyaki (the fish shaped pastries with red bean paste). Sushi I've eaten many times along with onigiri and miso soup. Oh yeah, there's fried ice cream and sometimes mocha ice cream. Delicious . . .

25 Name: AsbestosX : 2014-10-26 22:40 ID:FN3ZIWX8 [Del]

>>24 god that sounds amazing... ahhhh *drools* Unfortunately I do not live in New York, but I do live right by Washington DC.

Anyone aware of good places in DC?

26 Name: Ledo Jaeger : 2014-10-28 11:09 ID:SEZWBR0k [Del]

Favorite japanese dessert is hands down daifuku (mochi) , I've made it several times too and it's unlike anything else <3

27 Name: Kiri : 2014-10-28 11:42 ID:ywYgTQR1 [Del]

>>26 Now that I see the mochi thing, i noticed that i spelled mochi as mocha. Well mocha is great but mochi is the best! Green tea mochi ice cream~ I have yet to try dango.

28 Name: ledo jaeger : 2014-10-28 16:45 ID:2NBMxU5q [Del]

>>27 Yes green tea mochi ice cream is the bomb, but my favorite form of mochi will always be simple with red bean filling. I'd love to visit Japan and try fresh, good mochi for myself instead of the packaged stuff at the Asian market... ;-;

One of my favorite foods that exists here in Korea is called "yakimando", obviously it's not Japanese but it's very similar to the meat dumplings that they have (Koreans have these as well). Many of the Koreans here have asian-esque foods that people who like real (and by that I mean who have lived in and ate Japanese food in Japan - not the American crap they try to pass off as Japanese food) Japanese food will find delicious.

35 Name: AsbestosX : 2014-11-14 15:08 ID:FN3ZIWX8 [Del]

I found a really good place by where I lived... Got that takoyaki I wanted! I also stole some of my mum's yakisoba huehuehue

Going again tonight so happeh~!

I'm pretty glad talking about jap' foods to have found in my city a ramen restaurant. One that doesn't get "ramen" and "instant chinese noodles" mixed up, like so many destitute college students seem to do. Let me tell you, that thing will fill you up!
And if we go for the listing... Sushi yakitori and maki of course (daikon ones are my favorite), ramen as I mentionned, algae salads, edamame, karaage, homemade ones too! Dried squid snacks, mochi, takoyaki, taiyaki (not to be mixed up with takoyaki obviously), some pastry whose name I don't remember as well, but made by a cooking school that showed these up or something... Technically no pocky but we have things called "mikado' here which are exactly the same and have been for years... Probably forgetting a lot, and barely cover the gastronomy they have.

Curry udon, tempura udon, onigiri, mochi, mizu mochi, meat and potato croquets, all kinda ramen, miso soup, egg roll, katsu chicken. If your looking for sweet snacks try cream puffs, chocolate cornets, japans cookies, pineapple bread, hi-chew, ramune drinks, (if you like honey melon) melona popsicles, etc.

Well, I really like tamago no kake gohan. It's simple and tasty. You simply break a (fresh) egg into your rice (preferably japanese rice). Make sure it's fresh! Salmonella is an awful disease >_<. But the nice thing about tamago no kake gohan is that there isn't a "right" way to do it. You can put in whatever you like (I like to put black sesame seeds and shoyu on mine). Also, the traditional lamen (not the microwave one) is glorious. I personally recommend meat lamen.
