Anyone here ever had Octopus? I haven't (yet) but I'm very tempted to try it, mainly because I want to try out takoyaki and I'm one of those people in the world who can deal with seafood but never really had much of it.
'inb4' it taste like chicken comments, I'm looking for more honest replies and what other people have used octopus for in other dishes besides your basic takoyaki.

Takoyaki looks so good I want some ;~; Octopus is pretty chewy but it does compliment other flavors, it is paired with, very well ^_^!! The Japanese restaurant I got makes teriyaki octopus, which is delishh!!!! >:)

i tried takoyaki and it leaves such a taste so unforgettable in ur mouth (well.. that is if u were to keep it in ur mouth) its so chewy and especially best when its hot, you should really try it when u get the chance, u won't regret :)

I've had octopus and squid a lot! It's much chewier than you'd expect. I love it fried like calamari! goes well with ranch sauce. Never had takoyaki but it is interesting looking!

Octopus is....interesting. To be perfectly frank, it's very rubbery, and not particularly flavorful. It's tougher than squid, for a frame of reference. If you insist on trying a recipe, try to find a recipe that cooks it slow for a long time, like a stew. That will make it a little more tender, and release some of the deeper flavor.

I've had Takoyaki before it was very tasty! As for other dishes with Octopus can't say I know much about that... although I've seen Calamari used in a lot of dishes, I know it's not the same but maybe you should try that?
