"Dollars! You have been challenge. I am your host Chef Erika. Each Tuesday I shall give you a mandatory ingredient in which you must make an appetizer, entree, and dessert, all using the mandatory ingredient in some way. Plate, and take a picture of your creations and post them here along with a description of each dish. You have until Sunday Morning to do so. On Sunday everyone and anyone can vote on which person they thought has the best looking dishes. On Monday I shall tally up these votes and declare who our Iron Dollar is! Will our Iron Dollar carry on into the next week and claim his or her right as the Iron Dollar, or will a new challenger arise and still the victory? No one knows what will happen next on..... Iron Dollars!!!!!!!!"

This weeks Mandatory ingredient is............ Oranges!

Dollar Chefs! I welcome those of you who are brave enough to take on this challenge. I hope that your culinary skills will stun those of us watching so eagerly. I wish you all the best of luck. Now........ BEGIN!

this is a really creative idea, it's just a shame that not many people browse the food board or are halfassed enough to cook a meal lol

For desser(My specialty) I recommend a Red velvet slice with an orange zest vinigrette and red cinnamon. German chocolate suits itself as well if accompanied by an orange sherbert(Hence the ingridient)
And Entree..? Hm, Maybe a Texas/Cayan Lamb chop with orange zest from the peeling and the juice acting as the flavoring.

Apetizer... Well considering citrus based snacks It'd be more intresting to which having orange slices along with candied potato skin as the orange slices would have a brown sugar powdering.

I would recommend making orange scones with quite some extra orange zest in it, but not too much or it just taste too...well...orange-ish. Need to at least get the taste of what else is on the scone. It's great with milk, too.

Sigh~ I guess there is no winner of the Iron Dollars this week. Seeing as no one posted pics, the best IDEA wins!

>>4 SanityJinx Your Dessert sounded interesting with using an orange vinaigrette with Red Velvet Cake, I would take care not to use to much vinegar and suggest a red wine or rice vinegar. maybe a shot of an orange drink to go with it. You Entree too sounds good, but maybe use the orange juice as a marinade as well to incorporate the flavor better. Your Appetizer could use some work. I would have suggested a salad when dealing with oranges. Fresh sliced oranges with blanched green beans, and saute bits of bacon, small portion of a tender steak with an orange marinade neatly laid over the salad with maybe a light pan sauce would have been great.
