Boiled peanuts are a traditional Southern treat popular in the Carolinas, Georgia, Florida, Alabama, and Mississipi. Made from Green Peanuts, which are boiled in salty water for several hours over a stove or fire, boiled peanuts are salty and good....hell, they're down right addictive.
Boiled Peanut stands can be found everywhere during harvest season, from large trailers to rickety road-side shacks; From flea markets to grocery stores, they are everywhere.
They are usually boiled for several hours, during which their shells become soggy and soft, and the meat inside becomes tender and acquires a salty, meaty flavor. They are opened using your fingers or teeth to crack pen the shell and eat the meat within. They are often supplemented by beer, sweet tea, or soft drinks.
They are usually eaten outside, where it doesn't matter if you throw the shells on the ground afterwards.
So, tell me, BBS. What do you think of these fine treats? Do you live in the South where they are a common thng, or have you never heard of them before? I personally have a ton of them right now...In fact, I think I'll go get me some!

Im originally from up north but now live in the south. I'm not really a fan of peanuts, but they are really popular where I live. My parents love them! I've learned that you don't say 'boiled peanuts' .... You say 'boOold peanuts'!
Boiled peanuts? This is the first time I've heard of them. Where I'm from the peanuts are eaten normally- but deep-fried peanuts are popular too. Not to mention completely addicting.
