Yeah, AE disbanded so some people are trying to make AR the next big one. Hopefully it's successful! Other than that, there are a lot of small conventions going around in the Vancouver area. Anime Atsume (they have year-round events! A concert is coming up soon), Cos & Effect, MiniComi (modeled after Comiket), and the Summer Festival (though I'm not sure if it's a yearly or one-time thing).

Ontario here, in Huron county. I only found this site today, and I plan to be active. Real-Life events sound like a good idea~ in urban areas people could even do "clean-up" missions. The Dollars has a lot of potential, due to the type of people in the anime, and therefore the types of people who seek this website out. An "internet gang for good" mhm? We'll see. I'm honestly quiet enthusiastic about this site; reminds me when i first found /b/, but I think I like this community much more.
