So, what is Canon in Anime? Many franchises hit they're height in popularity when they hit television, anime is no exception. As such many people watch both anime and read the manga, however anime has a lot of filler. As well some details can be left out or added into the anime to add to the world and the characters (examples being: The "Dragon Ball" franchise, Yu-Gi-Oh, Naruto, One Piece, Bleach, Fairy Tail, Etc.). But this brings up the argument of "should this development which is exclusive in anime be ignored?", please let me know your thoughts.

Well if it's made for filler and drags on for a shit load of episode and finally has no effect at all on the main story, then it counts as canon.

Canon means filler right?

You don't need to post this same thread in two places.
In fact, you actually shouldn't post it in two places.

Since you're specifically asking what canon means in anime and how that relates to its source material, the thread you made for this on the Animation board is valid. This...not so much.

I will show my kids all the anime that I couldn't grow up with. It seems if they grow up with lets say Howls Moving Castle they will be good kids like many people who watch anime.
