"I asked the boy that I like out, and he gave me his autograph." —Sakura Chiyo, Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun; TV Tropes

Gekkan Shoujo Nozaki-kun is about 16 year old highschooler Sakura Chiyo as she confesses her love to a boy while failing. Miserably. Her object of affection is a young man named Umetarou Nozaki who is not-so-secretly a shoujo mangaka. For some "unexpected" coincidences, Sakura winded up helping Nozaki in his manga.

The author of this yonkoma (4-panel) manga is Tsubaki Izumi, the one behind the Oresama Teacher fame.

This simple series is guaranteed to make your stomach ache in a relatively good way. The story is handled simply, and one page can make up a one-liner gag. The manga already has 60+ chapters online, and still incomplete, but re-reading some chapters still make me laugh which is cool (I always read the beach scene. It's damn hilarious).

Brick jokes are often thrown here and there. Some jokes even repeat, but hell, it never gets old. The expressions hilarious (Ahh, Mikorin, the look of despair. You did it perfectly!) and the manga gives you a homely feeling like it's meant for you to read it.

Speaking of characters, I can't really say much without spoiling you in the story, so let's just evaluate with what I can. The characters are developed and easily relatable. Just seeing them interact makes me crack up XD. I have no problems identifying them, seeing that there's just a few characters (than Oresama Teacher. No, seriously. The amount of characters there are so damn plenty to the point where I ask, "Miyabi? Who the hell is Miyabi? Has he been here before? Ohhh... It's him. But then, who's Aki?"). Each character is uniquely identifiable. They have strengths and flaws, but you can't just hate them. Even if they can't read atmospheres.

There are many ships floating around. There is Hori/Kashi who even beat Noza/Saku at the popularity polls. Seo/Waka is also a favorite (personally, I think Seo wears the pants). That matter aside, feel free to find ship teases and crack ships (tell me if you know something that can beat Hori/Noza XD)

For those too busy to read, or can't be bothered by it, there is an anime of this, about 13 episodes long, I think. Some of the jokes are missed, but it's still an enjoyable experience so try it out. ;D

I'll wrap it up now, then. Gekkan is a good pastime manga which can be read when you're bored, or if you want to lighten up the mood after watching a psychological anime.

PS: Comment your favorite part below. I would be glad to chat with someone who likes this like I do. :)

PPS: I apologize if someone already made a thread. I tried to scan it but I haven't seen one.

>>2 When I discovered it, I thought that it's just a normal cliché shoujo manga. It ranked 1 in my favorites after just a few chapters. OwO

>>3 Me too XD. I really thought Kashima was a boy... and to think I had a crush on "him" before...

This makes me laugh without fail; more so than Beelzebub.

I love this manga because it just breaks all the shoujo rules! Like, Hori hits Kashi while it should be Kashi hitting him, and Nozaki is the oblivious one rather than a girl. Also, Seo is the boy character rather than Waka. There is even Mikorin: a tsundere boy. It's such a simple, yet hilarious manga. One of my favorite parts include when Nozaki and Chiyo ride the double-bicycle lol. Also, Seo and Waka's date is another fave.

I love the simple yet awesome comedy this manga has, when I read the first chapter I was like ¨Shoujo, not for me" and then I was completely hooked to this manga.

I love this manga! My favorite part was when Nozaki "surprised" Chiyo in classroom.
