Highschool of the Dead. By far. I love the intensity of the plotline, graphics and animation. And there is just so much swearing! :D

Elfen Lied and Higurashi No Naku Koro Ni were very inappropriate in my case. Especially Elfen Lied, for its excessive nudity and just way more gore. I was eleven years old when I watched both of these. e_e

What is your definition of "inappropriate" here? As in, contained material that was not appropriate for the plot (such as Highschool of the Dead's excessive fanservice) or just vulgar/mature content in general? Because that's not what "inappropriate" means; people say things are inappropriate in a public setting because the context is the
public setting, not because "inappropriate" is the overarching term for vulgarity.

Gotta go with Misuto on Higurashi's part. Higurashi was complimented by the gore. It really brought out the terror and WTF of the situations. There were enough plot twists and deeper situations that the violence didn't take away from it too much; in fact, it enhanced it. Hence why Higurashi wasn't really inappropriate, in my opinion.
However, the gore was the only good part of Elfen Lied. I didn't find the plot to be deep or interesting or scary enough for the gore to compliment it; it really just took away from the already limited story. Not to mention that having the main character naked in every slide of the themes and in multiple episodes was really uncalled for and didn't relate at all story. The episodes with the dog were really hard to watch, but they didn't really play that huge of a part in the plot itself. There was only one twist that was related to it, so watching a puppy get beat to death for an unimportant and unrealistic reason was also uncalled for. All of this is why Elfen Lied seemed rather inappropriate to me. I haven't read enough of the manga to give my opinion of it, but the anime wasn't that good at all.

i actually like Dark and Psychological mangas...but i always hate manga that have kiddy plotlines but have dark/tragedy kind of drawings, like they're trying to make into a dark manga, but it's not at all...i hate hardcore yaoi. don't get me wrong, i also read yaoi but only those that have good plot lines.
