I've been refusing to complain about the art but with this last chapter I feel that it may be getting to me, especially some close ups really put me off. It's a shame because D-Gray-man has always had such great art. Well, Hosino-sensei is a really great artist so I think in time things are going to settle down.
At least the action and drama is still going strong. With each chapter it seems that everything keeps getting more complicated and I like complicated.

I'm gunna bump this, cuz everyone in the anime board seems to think the D-Gray Man anime is the shit. When in fact, it isn't...
The manga of D-Gray Man is fucking boss. And I gotta be honest, I'm totally not that guy who likes the manga versions of things better than the anime. Truthfully, I'd rather have watched this, if it was done correctly. Unfortunately that isn't the case, like most things i guess.. but w/e. Just thought I'd give this a friendly bump.

But being 'that guy' is such a hard temptation to resist sometimes.
Anyway, not that I want to bash on the anime fans or anything either, especially since I didn't even get to finish the anime, but the first half was just unpleasant. I ended up dropping the D.Gray-man anime after about 50 episodes with a bitter taste in my mouth. Of course later I found out that it was fillers that were boring me so much, maybe the rest was better, but regardless, once I got into the manga it was like a 180 degree turn and I ended up loving it. There's no going back it's one of my favorites now.
Unfortunately it's been a little tough being a D.Gray-man fan lately, with the long waits for chapters to come out and the changes in the art that I'm still not sure about. Oh well, bearing with it.

I think the books go soo fast I have to read them twice to see if I missed anything, or to clear up anything I was confussed about and its usualy the battle sceens but if you go through the pannels slower it makes more scence!

I have two favorites actually on the bad guy side it would be Tyki Mikk and on the exorcists it would be Miranda Lotto. It could have nothing to do with the Noah and just be about Allen's rather 'gray' nature and the fact that he cares for humans, but for akuma as well. And with the 14th in the picture it could stand for 'man who is neither Exorcist nor Noah' so neither black nor white.
I've also found that it may be a reference to Dorian Gray, maybe in relation to the Earl being forever young and whatnot. I don't really get the connection with this one. But It wouldn't be the first time the title for something only makes sense in the author's head.

I started reading this yesterday and couldn't stop until like, volume 66 at twelve thirty in the morning. I'm getting confused whether there's a time shift because at one point Allen looks as cute as a baby hippo then he's suddenly older and less cute and more um...older looking. So the fact that I didn't put a description on this thread finally comes back to bite me. Oh well.

So, I got impatient with the anime and read ahead in the manga a while back, but I never read the chapters the anime covered. I did so today and realized something interesting...

The reason Timcanpy is so important is that the memory issue likely goes both ways. The more Allen remembers about the 14th's life, the more he's absorbed by him, yes... but the opposite also applies. The more the 14th relies on Allen's memory, the more he fades back into Allen. Timcanpy was designed to record all of Allen's memories so that the 14th would never have to recall the body's life prior to his awakening.
That's why the 14th said everything would be fine so long as Timcanpy was still around and freaked out after he was destroyed -- him and Allen are now on equal footing in this body.
It's just a theory, but it makes Tim's death a little easier to swallow.
