This is my personal thought about it.

seems like there are many guys we pissed off these days. i wouldn't be surprised if its Tanaka or Robo they've encountered.

but seriously.

There are many self-proclaimed mods here.

that would be me (Kurosuke [though im new]), Tanaka, Rora-chan, FindMuck, RoadRunner, Pure Water 100%, Shade_98(is also new), People i think with a goal like Blanc, Sigiled, Bambi, Barabi, Yuya, Firelily and other guys who are self-proclaimed mods or IDK maybe lurkers like Neko, Shiro, Enigami and NZPIEFACE who lives in the Personal and Random Board. (sorry for those who werent mentioned, but these guys are ones i know)

Why do we even give the effort of being self proclaimed mods??

Its because we care for the site. Most of us have real goals and real missions. We are not just Lurkers and people with nothing to do, we are called "people with time".

Why is some of us, self-proclaimed mods being MEAN??

First. Personality.
Second. Tactics. to keep this site organized and clean.
sometimes the combination of two.

What do I mean by Organized and clean?

Organize the site so no newbies would get lost, Direct them to FAQs, about page and existing threads, and bump to top the IMPORTANT threads that needs to read by everyone especially newbs and Clean the site from spammers, trolls, and advertisers of their own Organizations/gangs. and report them to the admin (Reltair)

Not sure I really wanna be a "self-proclaimed mod". It sounds imposing, and I'm not one to impose. It is nice to see that peeps are aware that others and I care about order and community, but I'm unsure I want such a title.

Do NOT lump me in with this shit. I'm still 10000% against associating the word "mod" with any of it (because the site has ACTUAL moderators that highly dislike you using the word) and am not a self-proclaimed anything (except moon warrior). We are all moon warriors inside.

For the record:
I help out around the site because I enjoy using it.
I like seeing the site organized because that makes it easier for me to use.
The policing I do on this site is purely self-serving, nothing deeper.*

*My work in boards like Missions, etc. and personal posts, rants, discussions, etc are a completely different story, obviously. (I worded that poorly before.)

I don't personally consider myself a "mod" (and I don't want to be called a "mod"), just a user and member. I just "help out" because I want to. In the end we're all just members and users of the website.

Point is, "moderating" (but perhaps not "mod(erator)") is the word that best describes when members - any member - choose to help out in maintaining the boards.

(And because it's very easy to misinterpret things through text, no I did not intend to start a fight or call out, just adding my opinion.)

We're just regular members of the site. We're no better than any others, and we don't need special words or terminology to refer to ourselves or stand above others. This has always lead to issues in the past.

The site goes in cycles, and you guys are teetering on the edge of the part where returning members are taking legitimate offense to certain attitudes. They're looking for anything to latch onto and lash out about. This is just one of those things.

And unfortunately, using those terms makes explaining how the site actually works a nightmare, not to mention that it gives a poor impression of those who may be behind the scenes. It's just not cool.

I can't stop you from using whatever words you want, ofc. Just offering some insight.

I don't like the idea of "self proclaimed mods". And I'm kinda worried about the fact that if you truly care about the site, why be such a dick about it? I've seen some telling people that simply main isn't supposed to be posted on and simple as that. But it feels like some go out of their way to be rude. I mainly just lurk on News or Personals here.

I read a comment earlier saying "Take your goddamn shit to the [name] thread fuckwit." which is really harsh. Some people make mistakes and it's okay. Saying "Sorry, we have a thread for that already." would have been a much more appropriate way to address things. I don't know, just the way some people act around here can be a bit negative, you know?

I'm a fucking cunt because self-entitled shits start posting spam everywhere with out reading the FAQ's then go 'Oh, but I didn't know, no one told me.' Wah fucking wah. Read them or stop complaining.

So if you want to sift through that shit or deal with them yourselves then go right the fuck ahead but stop complaining about it unless you've actually tried to police the boards of spam and shit posts.

I agree with TallJean and Honoka. If you don't have the patience to moderate then don't moderate, no one is asking you to. And I feel it doesn't help at all because you curse at people who make mistakes rather than tell them what to do.
All you do is publically shame anyone who posts in the wrong thread, you don't even have the power to delete said thread so it doesn't help. On the other hand if you just linked and said something like "This doesn't belong here please don't post this again -link to proper thread-." It would be okay.

And no DUH it's time consuming to do it properly but it's just as time consuming to type out those long winded insults, if all you're going to do is insult and point out they did the wrong thing then simply don't do anything. I don't think people deserve to be made to feel bad for not doing much research after JUST STUMBLING ONTO THE SITE.

I don't have the patience to mod myself which is why I DON'T. Which is something I feel most of the mods should do, you clearly don't have the patience to deal with people so just don't simply. Why go through the effort to yell at people or get a little mad a newbies? What's the point?

Or create the same chain message that you copy paste every time something wrong is done and you only need to find the thread and not bother with the typing out anything.

Can I just say after skimming through this convo, I have noticed some points about these so called 'mods'commenting on spam telling people to read the FAQS, I myself have been told off, and in my case, I wasn't in the wrong. I will admit, I hadn't read the FAQ and as stated before by someone else, I didn't want to read a giant wall of boring ass text because I have better things to do with my time, but a lot of this stuff stated there comes down to common sense anyway.

In the case where I was told off, I was looking for a thread to see who was in Australia NSW in the Countries section. I checked the very nicely set up Countries index, but it said "CURRENTLY NO DESIGNATED THREAD FOR NEW SOUTH WALES", so I hunted for one. After making a post I get told of by one of these 'mods', "Look in the countries thread and stop making spam dammit. And while your at it read the fucking FAQs."

One, I already checked countries thread, and again, there wasn't an NSW thread.

Two, I read the FAQ and at the time of reading it, it literally states that the countries topic is spammy! SO why the fuck am I being told off!

It makes me to start to question whether some of the so called 'mods', (I say so called because can some of these people even call themselves that) even do their research before telling people off. Shit, did they read the FAQ?

Another thing, just because YOU decided to start taking your time to moderate the forums and help people, does not give you the right to insult them, personality or not. Yes, there may be some assholes out there ignoring the FAQ's of the warnings you gave, but that doesn't mean everyone else has to get insulted for it, they don't deserve your rudeness. So step off your fucking high horse, you are not higher than everyone else here, you don't have special privileges.

I do appreciate the things some of you do here to make this a better place, just don't take your frustrations out on others.

If it's really obvious that something should be somewhere else, though, it should be the user's responsibility to know that. A person shouldn't post until they've explored the site and know this. If they decide against doing that first, then fine, get cussed off. It's their own fault and they have no right to complain.
