Reltair, I can't promise I won't cuss in jest or flip shit when something drags on too long or someone is giving absolutely zero shits about the site, but I agree that this a topic to be discussed... to a degree. There are multiple problems here.

Buuuuut I'm on Chrome's side with something. Reltair... can we please, please, pleaseeee have dedicated moderators? *clings* No offense, but as much as I love the old mods, they're really not doing anything recently. We have enough members now that cleaning the boards just by bumping bad threads off isn't working the way it did when the site was new. We added mods for that reason, right? Yet as it keeps getting bigger, we're having less and less interaction with any of them, and they pick and choose which boards they want to waste their time with. I know you don't have the time to clean everything up or check the site that often, so please add a few new moderators or at least implement some kind of more effective peer-review process.

If we are going to discuss new mods, I think they should be elected by memeber of the community.
The final say of who is mod can stay a secret, but I think a couple of our regular members would make fantastic mods.

It would also make sense for there to be mods over certain boards.
Also, bonus points taken into consideration for members that are usually the ones cleaning this place up anyways.

1) Mods are active. We're happy.
2) Activity slows down after a week or two.
3) Mods disappear.
4) We put up with the site for a few months, struggling to clean it.
5) We complain.
6) Mods re-appear.
Repeat 1-6.

It's not fixing the problem if they only come check the site on request / complaint.

It's true we need to avoid more conflict than needed. Everyone has different views and interests and are sure to clash, but some of the members are right. The newer members do NEED to read the rules. It makes those who read it feel like they wasted their time, and those who haven't are wreaking chaos all over the boards. Also, it makes them look like they're pretty idiotic to miss those rules.

Don't mean to offend, but it's true. Although, some rude words are exchanged for practically no reason, and I've already seen a bunch of that since just joined 2 day ago. It makes me feel like replying back a sharp remark, but so far I've reigned myself in. Some people need to watch their words and text. They can be perceived the wrong way, since we can't communicate clearly on computers. There are also those who seem a bit blunt on the newer people. I've seen plenty of welcoming people, but just as much of the rude ones. They're only just learning, no reason to be harsh to them.

I agree with you. I recently joined too and I read the rules. I still actually go over them, because I've seen all the newer people come on and post stuff where they're not supposed to and get harsh treatment.
It scares me, so for now I've really just decided to just reply to things instead of actually posting a thread. I don't want to make a mistake and then be yelled at by the older members.
To be honest that was the first thing I've seen when I came on here. The main page had a few threads that weren't supposed to be there and people were being real mean about it. (Real mean isn't even close to how it was.)

It doesn't matter who they are, you should respect them anyway from the start until you have a solid reason.
We shouldn't put people down because of their opinions. We're all entitled to them, and we have to respect them, even if we think they're wrong.
