Has anyone played Dangan Ronpa? It's not available in English to play, but there's a Let's Play on Something Awful Forums that you can find through google. An anime is coming out this year.

The game is a murder mystery set in a special academy that guarantees success to whoever attends. However, when the protag and company gets to the school, they're locked in, and can only get out by murdering another classmate without getting caught!!

It's a pretty fast read, chapter by chapter. Though there is a lot of introduction, it doesn't start out boring. To me, it just builds up the suspense.

So has anyone played or read this? Let's talk about it!!

This game sounds interesting. I was wondering if it's available for iPod touch, though. I tried to search for it and came up empty handed, but the game says it was developed for ios after it was successful with the PSP.

I just started this game, on chapter two Investigation. I really like the Class Trials, really reminding me of Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney, but it's also got a difference with the bullets, shooting, and different sections for the trials. I think that's all really neat. At the beginning, when I saw a revolver, I thought "So... Is someone gonna get a gun and shoot someone?" But now, it makes sense lol.

And the soundtrack. Oh my god, the soundtrack. Just eargasm. My favorite track has to be the Investigation music. It's just so jazzy and just all kinds of cool. Definitely good soundtrack.

Theres dangan ronpa 2 now, i dont know how long its been out though.

Dangan Ronpa 2 came out July 26 2012, so it's been a year. Hopefully, translators are on it with an english patch for it.

The anime is alright so far. Hopefully they don't cut out too much stuff to fit everything in. 13 episodes seem so small to fit all the cool things of Dangan Ronpa. But fingers crossed on them making a good adaptation.

I'm currently on Chapter 5's investigation scene. Damn though, down to 6 students. Shit's getting too real.

Also, gameplay wise, during the class trial, everything's pretty cool. One complaint is Machinegun Talk Battle, although it's a personal one if any. It's because the rhythm and reloading bullets and stuff. Eh. It's nothing game breaking, I can still pass it without failing.

Class trials are still fun. Wish my school had actual class trials, without the murder and stuff.

I really like the game but to be honest, I haven't played it yet, I have seen a few episodes of the anime and it seems really awesome so far.

If you buy this game from Japan, there is an online English translation port that you can download to an SD card. The game itself stays in Japanese, but you can play the translated data for the entire game that way. That's how I played it. It's a really good game, it gives you a lot to do. That can be an up and a downside though because it is really time consuming. It's a fantastic game in its own right though!

There is an official english port being released by NIS America, sometime early next year.
...it's for the PS Vita though, so there's really no telling how well that'll sell.

I'm still waiting Pc version, as well as oreimo. using emulator kinda heavy, lol.

I played it with the english patch on my PSP. Most despairing novel of the universe... i completed it only because it was so good! (yeah, kinda sadistic right?)

The anime adaptation let me down :c, I read the novel first. I'm very anxious for the English patch for Super Danganronpa 2!
Also... i don't want to give spoilers... but the end was shocking!

i would recommend you not to watch the anime. It's pretty rushed since there's only 13 episodes, so I would say that you should either play the game or watch a walkthrough of it. I've only seen the first two episode of the anime, and I can already feel the story rushing through.

The game is out in America but seems to be out of stock at most retailers (Going out to pick up my copy today since I had it sent in from another store woot woot!)

The sales seem to have been good enough anyhow, since the second game has now been confirmed apparently for an english release!~

started watching a walkthrough to this game.... and it's been only 3 days since I've entered chapter 4... >< This game is actually really good (I'm an avid fan of mystery/deduction game, can't expect less how much I love this series) and I would totally recommend this.

I swear the overall storyline for the first two games is just so twisted. It's like the Hunger Games if it took place in a school, but worse since you have no idea if anyone wants to kill or not. And of course some of it's characters can be up on the list of "Most insane characters in history." XD

I started by watching the anime and while I was ridiculously into it, I feel like it should've been 24 episodes. After I went back and read DR the game I realized just how much was glossed over in the anime simply because there wasn't enough time.
SDR2 the anime needs to be a thing and I hope that will be 24 episodes.
